You've got to report it to Moving and Maintenance. Just asking the mods to close it won't get their attention.
Closed, please do some fact checking before posting, also there are multiple JB for Nexus S threads.

Assuming your ADB and all that is set up...and you already downloaded the Release 1 of Froyo ROM.
Install clockworkMod recovery : Do this by downloading this:
http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/2.5.0.1-streak-clockworkrecovery.zip
and follow this instruction.
Download the recovery image zip file above and extract to a directory
Put your device in bootloader mode (Unplug the device from your PC, remove the device battery, then replace it and turn device on with the camera button pressed. Select the 'fastboot' text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds then plug the device into your PC. The screen display should change to 'FASTBOOT MODE'. If it doesn't, repeat and retry
WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat'
(I've had instances where I had to literally run this batch file twice to ensure it was picked up by the device.
THEN, place the update-new.zip onto your sd card
Now boot streak into recovery by shutting down and holding vol up and down as you press power, select update from .pkg option and wait for Clockwork to load. Ignore errors regarding Misc...blah, blah...
-select flash zip from sd
-choose select zip from sd and find the update-new.zip and flash it
-Afterwards, press the power button to go back until you see the optiong to reboot. Enjoy your FROYO.
when i press the shutter button to install it gives me two errors: no signature annd verification failed or something like that i never see anything thats says install from zip

If youre at that part it should go like this...
1) Keep both volume buttons down and then power on. Sometimes its better to power on, once you see your back, home, and menu button light up, immediately press the 2 volume buttons and keep it pressed. If successful you should be faced with the Stock Recovery Screen. This will give you 4 options, and option 2 is install Update.pkg. Ensuring there is not file on root of SD Card that is labeled Update.pkg, select Option 2.
2) If you do this it will go black and a message saying.."Android....." and then you'll be faced with Koush's custom recovery. You'll know you're in custom recovery because you have to hold the Streak upside down. (3 buttons on top and earpiece at the bottom). If you see this then you're successful and should be straightforward from there. Follow the rest of the instructions provided in my previous post.
-------
-select flash zip from sd
-choose select zip from sd and find the update-new.zip and flash it
-Afterwards, press the power button to go back until you see the optiong to reboot.
this is frustrating. ... when I did it_it went to the stock recovery and when I press shutter button it doesn't go to the custom recovery and I know I flashed it

My Nexus One is rooted (I forgot how I did it).
Last night suddenly my phone went off and could not reboot anymore. It stayed on "X" screen forever. I tried to hard reset (i.e. Pressing volume down and power button). Then I pressed "Recovery" and then it went restart and stayed on "X" screen forever again. What can U do?
Please help, I am a new root user. please teach me step by step to do so. thanks.
Turn it off. Hold the trackball while starting it up. If you have usb debugging on and working fastboot drivers, you can wipe your phone (fastboot -a in cmd) and flash an img file of like a stock ROM.

I tried this already but still not work, I had brought my phone to some third party mobile repair centre, they said my N1 is CPU broken and will cost around US$96 to replace with a new CPU (HTC need around US$190 for mother board). I paid US$96 anyways. not sure if it worth.

This command will check if your device is connected in fastboot mode or not.
Step 7: Now run following command (place the file recovery in the same folder where the fastboot):
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.1-passion.img
This will install Clockwork recovery on your Nexus One.
That’s it, enjoy!
You can either follow the above guide or this amon ra recovery guide

Hey i have a nexus 7 and it worket fine but when i flashed a rom (paranoide android) it got in to a bootloop and i cant get out i really need help!!!
i have tryet go in to where you se the green android man and then in to recovery mode but my nexus 7 wont get in to the recovcery mode and i dont know what to do i need help i need help.....:crying::crying::crying::crying:
To keep it simple:
(I hope your device is bootloadr unlocked and rooted, if not, it's a different ball game)
Download Nexus 7 toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195) and install it.
Install Nexus 7 drivers, if you did not install them already (from toolkit - select your device type and select 1 on toolkit action menu)
Power down Nexus, then press Volume down and Power simultaneously until you see Android guy on its back with open keypad inside.
Connect Nexus to PC, restart the toolkit
select your device type and select 6 on action menu
select recovery type you like (CWM or TWRP, I use TWRP) and flash it
Now you should be able to enter recovery
Hope it helps.
Don't necessarily even need to go through the hassle of installing a toolkit. Just hold all three hardware buttons for approximately 30 seconds to simulate a battery pull and have it reboot to the bootloader.
It sounds as though the op either tried a dirty flash or had a corrupted download. Either scenario is easily avoidable, but they should be able to just get into recovery and either flash the nandroid that they should have made prior to this or properly flash PA if they neglected to wipe data and cache before flashing the first time around.

Multiple user accounts feature preview with screenshots:
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/11/16/how-to-use-multiple-users-in-android-4-2-jelly-bean/
After I found out that Android 4.2 has the feature to create multiple users with their own profiles, I wanted to find a way to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2/p5110 to Android 4.2.
I was a beginner in installing custom firmware (ROM) on Tab 2 and it took some evenings to finally have a shareable Tablet with multiple users. I want to share my progress and experience with you. So if you find something to improve please let me know.
If you don’t have already Android 4.2 and your vendor does not have an official firmware update (Stock ROM with Android 4.2 or later) then you need to install a custom ROM which is running Android 4.2. I choose a custom ROM from Cyanogenmod.org. Version CM 10.1 runs Android 4.2 and supports a lot of tablet devices (see).
This HOW TO is for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 product family (also for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 see here). I worked out the HOW TO on my Tab 2 p5110.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 product family:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (GSM) p3100
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (Wi-Fi) p3110
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (Wi-Fi+IR) p3113
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GSM) p5100
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (Wi-Fi) p5110
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1(Wi-Fi+IR) p5113
But Cyanogenmod has installation instructions for any supported device, so you have to transfer some steps for other Tablets. The process to install a custom ROM can destroy your tablet device and is on your own risk. The installation of custom ROM is disruptive. You will lose all data and settings and you will start with a fresh installed Android 4.2 on your Tab 2. Please take time and read also the provided links to understand the general process and risks.
Select your Tab 2 device and read installation instructions from Cyanogenmod.org.

CWM6 for p3110
CWM6 for p3113
CWM6 for p5100
CWM6 for p5110
CWM6 for p5113
4. Download CM10.1 (chose the right file for your device from the Cyanogenmod nightly repository. I used cm-10.1-20130305-NIGHTLY-p5110.zip)
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=p3110 [also for p3113]

5. Download Google Apps (GAPPS) chose the right file for CM10.1 and Android 4.2
http://goo.im/gapps
B- Put your Tab 2 in Download Mode
Samsung devices come with a unique boot mode called Download Mode. If you put your Tab 2 in Download Mode then you can install a custom recovery with Odin. Rooting the stock ROM is neither recommended nor necessary.
Click to collapse
1. Power off the Tab 2 and connect the USB adapter to the computer but not to the Tab 2.
2. Boot the Tab 2 into Download Mode by holding down the right volume button + power button. If the Tab 2 switches on you can release power button, but you still have to hold down the right volume button, till the device entered “Downloade Mode”. If you see the message “Downloading…” you can proceed with the next step
3. Connect USB cable and wait for Windows to detect the Tablet and the install the driver.
C- Use Odin to install custom recovery ClockworkMod
ClockworkMod, abbreviated as CWM, is a popular custom recovery for Android tablets. ClockworkMod recovery allows you to perform several advanced recovery, restoration, installation and maintenance operations on your Android device that aren’t possible with the Samsung (stock ROM) recovery, and is one of the most common ways used to gain root access, back up device data, install custom ROM
Click to collapse
1. Run Odin
2. Odin should now recognize your device and light up the ID:COM field yellow to signify this.
3. Click on PDA button, locate the downloaded GT-Pxxxx_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.1.0.tar and click on OK to load it on Odin
4. Make sure that the “Re-Partition” and “Flash Lock” are unchecked; this is important as you might brick your device if these options are ticked!
5. Click on Start and wait for Tab 2 to reboot after Odin has completed.
The Tab 2 now has ClockworkMod Recovery installed.
D- Start ClockworkMod to Backup your Stock ROM
1. Power off the Tab 2 and insert an removable microSD Card (external sdcard)
2. Boot the Tab 2 into ClockworkMod menu by holding down the left volume button + power button. If the Tab 2 switches on you can release power button, but you still have to hold down the left volume button, till you see the ClockworkMod menu.
3. Use left or right volume button to select “backup and recovery” and press power button to enter “backup and recovery” menu
4. Use left or right volume button to select “backup to external sdcard” and press power button to start the backup. Wait for the message “backup complete!”.
Now you have an “image backup” of your Stock ROM. I recommend to backup to removable microSD card.
If you don’t have a microSD Card you can also backup to internal storage. To find/transfer see
E- Installing CyanogenMod (CM10.1) from ClockworkMod menu.
1. Power off the Tab 2
2. Put the CyanogenMod ROM .zip file and and Google Apps .zip file on the root of your external microSD card and insert it back to your Tab2. (I had to put cm-10.1-20130305-NIGHTLY-p5110.zip and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip)
3. Boot the Tab 2 into ClockworkMod menu by holding down the left volume button + power button. If the Tab 2 switches on you can release power button, but you still have to hold down the left volume button, till you see the ClockworkMod menu.
4. Use left or right volume button to select “wipe data/factory reset” and press power button to execute.
5. Use left or right volume button to select “install zip from sdcard” and press power button to enter install menu.
6. Use left or right volume button to select “choose zip from external sdcard” and press power button to browse microSD card.
7. Select the CyanogenMod .zip File and confirm with yes to install.
After CM10.1 is installed you have to install Google Apps.
8. Use left or right volume button to select “install zip from sdcard” and press power button to enter install menu.
9. Use left or right volume button to select “choose zip from external sdcard” and press power button to browse microSD card.
10. Select the Google Apps .zip File and confirm with yes to install.
11. Use left or right volume button to select “Go Back” and press power button to execute.
12. Use left or right volume button to select “reboot system now” and press power button to execute.
Now your Tab2 comes up with CM10.1 and Android 4.2.
F- Update Google Search and create User Profiles if needed
Use Google Play App to update Google Search (voice search should now work)
Create Users see
RESTORE- If you want to go back to your stock ROM
1. Power off the Tab 2 and insert the removable microSD Card (external sdcard) with the backup taken from step D

*It should work on pretty much any android phone on 4.1.2*
*it wont root your phone, so it wont break your warranty and its completely free*
*if you have 4.1.1, do step 8 only and your good to go*
You will need to downgrade your phone back to 4.1.1, unlock it using a simple method, factory reset, restore your data, upgrade back to 4.1.2
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP 1: Find and download your 4.1.1 firmware on Sammobile (make sure you put the right model and country, etc)
STEP 2: Download Odin 3.07
STEP 3: Backup your data, I'm not gonna make a guide for this, there already a ton on google, as for me, I didn't really needed my apps so I just backed my contacts on my gmail and that's it
STEP 4: Turn off your phone, open it back up on download mode (Hold volume down + home button + power button)
STEP 5: Open Odin, click on the PDA button, then go get the firmware you downloaded on Sammobile
STEP 6: Plug your phone in your computer via USB, you should see COM something appear on one of the top left square in Odin, wait for it to load until it seems ready, make sure Auto reboot is checked.
STEP 7: Click on Start on Odin, the firmware will now install on your phone and then the phone will reboot, it took 5-10min for me, be patient and make sure to not unplug your USB cable.
STEP 8: After this, your phone is back to 4.1.1, it may be lagging a bit with some apps problems, but you still can do this unlocking method: Dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu
[1] UMTS
[1] Debug Screen
[8] Phone Control
[6] Network Lock
Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF
(after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in
[6] Network Lock then choose
[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone
*I am not the author of this method*
STEP 9: Factory reset your phone (should be in settings in backup and reset) make sure you backed up all the data you want to keep
STEP 10: upgrade back to 4.1.2, recover your data and you're done ! The phone is now factory unlocked entirely for free and still under warranty !

i have the SGH-I747M locked to Telus
This did work for me but after i completed step 7 the phone was lagging and app crashing so bad the dialer app would not open and it was very unstable!!!
At this point i did a factory reset with the following method
lets call it, optional STEP 7B..
After Odin is complete and the phone has rebooted, power the phone off again and do a factory wipe (YOU WILL LOOSE ALL INFO ON YOUR PHONE) using this method........
hold in the volume up, home, and power buttons until the samsung logo appears then release the power button only, once the android appears release the remaining buttons.
using the volume rocker, move the cursor to "wipe data/factory reset" and use the power button to select (AGAIN YOU WILL LOOSE ALL DATA ON YOUR PHONE!!!) then move cursor to "yes" and select to continue
Once complete move cursor down to "reboot system now"
you phone will now be stable and as if you just pulled it out of the box with 4.1.1
now move to step 8

i continued on with steps 8 thru 10 above.
once the phone was tested as "unlocked" (placed a Rogers SIM in the device and tested) i then installed the OTA updates as normal.
as of today, this device has now received OTA updates to 4.3 and is still unlocked running on Rogers!
Hope this helps
Getting harder to find the firmware.

After a poor experience with ODIN sometime back I had my doubts about this procedure working... but it worked a treat. It did seem to get stuck rebooting after the procedure but a further factory reset/reboot sorted it out. The most difficult bit was finding the firmware but eventually found the same UK firmware at androidfilehost (no need to register with any file-hosting companies).
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to post these instructions for the benefit of people like me.
Will this work on a Alcatel phone?
