Okay, I got my Nexus 7 from Gamestop and noticed I didn't get the set-up screen when I first turned it on.
So I didn't get the 25$ credit? But I did get the Transformers movie...
Anyone help?
Damn that sucks. Try a factory reset maybe?

So, the guy told me he can't help me because I got it from GameStop and not the Google Play store. He told me to try a Factory Reset, and then call GameStop if that doesn't work.
Well, that's irritating.

When did you log the device into your account?
If you didn't get a setup screen at all, was there any seal to the box? Had it been broken? It's possible it had been used before by someone else before you got it? I'd want to exchange it.
Factory Reset is worth a shot, good luck.

Odd the credit comes from Google. You got the movie which is odd. I would try Google again or ask for a manager. Switching tablets probably won't help since the credit is per account.
No, the seal wan't broken. And I'm going to try a Factory Reset. If that doesn't work, I will call GameStop tomorrow.
I've seen a few people on other forums mention the $25 not showing up. The common theme among them was that they already had a credit card(s) associate with their Google Wallet. The trick that worked for them was to removed any cards from the account, do factory reset, and then it gave them the correct setup screen for the credit. Not sure if that's your issue, but figured I'd pass it along in case it helps.

I bought a 16gb from someone who got it from Gamestop & I didn't get the $25 credit either. Either cause its from GS or cause I got the credit when I registered my I/O unit.

It should be preloaded onto the tablet
calling gamestop will only lead to you being on hold, and being told call google.

I got all the goodies but no $25 Play store credit. I tried everything with no luck. I ended up contacting Google last week. They said the "escalation" team will be contacting me in a couple days. No word yet.
So I just added a credit card to my google wallet as it instructed. I'm trying to buy an app with the credit but on the payment dropdown it only shows my credit card and no credit at all. Any way to check if I have google play credit?

I've had this happen when the purchase was more than the credit I had. How much is the app you're trying to purchase?
its only 2 dollars. Why can't I see my credit?
Two things:
1. Did you receive the "Your $25.00 Google Play balance is ready to use." email after setting up your tablet?
2. Do you have multiple GMail accounts on the tablet? If so, make sure you're making the purchase with the account you used to setup the tablet.
Is it still possible to get multiple $25 Play store credits? I searched for this info, but couldn't find it.

I ordered the Nexus 7 and activated it today. When looking in the account I activated it on I see no mention of the $25 Play store gift card or the free movie and other stuff that should be included according to the product page. I looked at some other threads about this and they all said "it should be there" and I don't see it! I looked in Google Wallet and in my Purchase History in the Play Store and saw nothing! What am I missing? Or am I just a Bad Luck Brian that just doesn't get the gift card?
Thanks.
You don't get the freebies until you physically have the device in your hands and activate it.

Same here. I received the email within seconds of activating the device. You sure you actually don't have it? Check your balance at the play store and see. The email may have gone to your spam box. Just a thought.
The other thing is - did you get yours from the play store or a 3rd party? The cynic in me wonders whether someone purchased it, returned it, and Google play sees that device as already having received the freebies.

I bought mine from staples and I unboxed it, signed into google, saw the credit email in my gmail inbox, then unlocked and rooted and wiped the hell out of it and flashed a custom rom and kernel.
I thought maybe I wasn't going to get the other freebies because I searched google play store and they weren't free. But it was user error, I just had to install the specific apps for google magazines and google movies and books.

It'll send the credit and extras to the first account you set up. I have two, my old one one for apps, and a newer one one for my gmail and music. I set up my email/music first when I got the N7 and it gave the credit to that.
Also, pretend like you're going to buy something and when it goes to the choosing payment section look in the drop down for the $25 credit.

I tried this and the gift card did not appear on the drop down. Nor can I find my freebies anywhere besides in the email mention from Google. I would like to mention I had changed my email address a few days prior to ordering Nexus 7 and all of the order emails including the one mentioning the gift card arrived in the old inbox.
Just tried changing the email back and looking in Google Play but still can't find the goodies or the giftcard so I changed back the email.
You have a really good reason to call customer support.
They will probably enjoy a call from someone they can help, and is not yelling at them.
Should be easily fixable.
He said to do a factory restore. Ugh, I just got this thing all set up!
Now that all my data is gone and lost, I got the email saying I got the giftcard!

Unless they fixed it you can get the $25 on multiple accounts from 1 device. I got two other people $25 dollar credits just from letting them sign in on my device so someone else getting the freebies isn't possible. Neither is getting multiple credits on one account even if you sign on two different devices. Also you have to have a credit card tied to your Google account to get the $25 credit

Factory Data Reset worked for me also
I am glad I found this post. I was getting aggravated that I could not get my credit.
The Factory Data Reset worked for me also. Once I activated it the credit was there automatically.
Now to reload all my apps, music, and books again.
But it was worth.
You guys should have just made a backup with the Nexus Toolkit. :/

I got my nexus 7 as a gift. When I activated it I didn't get the credit or the other stuff. I did the factory reset (several times actually) but to no avail. When I go to buy an app, there is an 'add card for $25' option which does nothing when I add cards. I tried deleting all my cards, doing a factory reset and none of that made a difference either. I tried calling customer support a couple days ago and he had to escalate since he didn't know how to fix it. I'm still waiting to hear back.

Is there a way to contact Google via email to sort this issue out? The Contact Google page doesn't actually offer any email or something.
The factory restore didn't work for ya? Asked Google if there was any other way and they said no. Their number is found on Nexus support page.
I bought my Nexus 7 a month ago and successfully activated it to receive the 25$ credit.
I used 12$ out of the 25$ and then didn't purchase anything for a week or two.
Today I wanted to purchase an app with my remaining 13$ and I noticed the Google Play credit payment method is greyed out and I can't use it.
This is what it says:"This payment method cannot be used for this purchase (RBC)" .
Searched everywhere... didn't see a similar report.
Tried purchasing other apps... to check if it's something specific...
Also tried to purchase apps with my Nexus S... greyed out there as well.
Anyone has an idea why this happened or how to solve it?
As far as I know, the only restrictions are that it cannot be hardware (ie: Nexus 7, GNex, N7 case)
Same problem here...
Same here. First order went fine, but now it's greyed out. FYI, I'm using my tablet outside US, tried both local IP and US based VPN, and neither has worked.
I have the same problem. I think google made it impossible to use the money when you are not from the USA. I saw that all the guys that posted in this thread are from outside the USA.

Hope there's a workaround for this..
Same issue here and I'm in Canada...
Hopefully someone will have the solution to this..
Same here. I wonder what the (RBC) error code could mean? I can still purchase apps on the device using my cc, but I've found that I also have a problem buying from the Play store on the web today. Neither my N7 store credit, nor my regular cc are working on the Play Store web site. Trying to purchase anything that way yields a Google Wallet error. Both of these payment methods show up just fine in the Google Wallet settings. Weird.
I've emailed Google about the problem and will report back if I hear anything. BTW, I'm in Australia and I bought my N7 through the Play store.
Same thing here (in the Netherlands, Nexus 7 running PA 1.99 shipped from the USA and an HTC One X running CM10). I have used the credit before to purchase an app, so it's a recent change. Uninstalling updates to Google Play and clearing data has no effect. Orbot returns an error when trying to start transparent proxying, no luck using that either.
Purchasing apps using a credit card is working just fine.
EDIT: Got Orbot to work by using the default iptables, but no luck. Play credit is still greyed out.

I am from India, and i got the 25$ credit by entering actual CC info and some random US zipcode and phone. Now when i try to buy an app using the credit i am getting the same greyed out(RBC) error. Any solutions?

How could google take away the credit from us? It's like they gave us something and now they want it back. What about those who had already spent the $25 earlier on. It's unfair.
i'd spent £0.60 two weeks ago and mine still available. if it makes any difference bought and used in the UK.

Same problem here. I dont think it is related to location.
I was in the US last week. Bought the Nexus 7 and activated to get $25 credit. However, whatever I tried to purchase, it would not let me use the credit. I tried different apps, books, movie and music.
However, have come back to Japan now. Hope this gets resolved soon.

I don't think the Nexus phones are available for purchase yet in the Dominican Republic. Either Google recognizes you are on a VPN, or they see you are international trying to use a US-based card. Either way, I am happy to see Google being proactive with security.

As i said, I bought the Nexus 5 with the same account, card and country based.
Google is not being proactive with security if this "proactivity" doesn't allow you to make a purchase.
Banks already has their own security systems, so there's no reason why Google should be that kind of strict in payments options. They're losing business opportunities.
Ill figure out the way to buy it, then, Il post the solution. But I'm sure that I going to get it.

This is what I did. I live in Jamaica but have a USA account with a US bank. I used a VPN on my laptop (hotspotshield) and I ordered using that card and shipped to a freight forwarding address in the USA and my order went through ok, I think I'm one of the first orders to go through too as I noticed the nexus 6 website ended with /nexus/6 so I had /nexus/6p on auto refresh which eventually went live and I ordered immediately.
