Well kayani.. first you should decide which ROM you want to flash on your Defy.. then procedure will be selected accordingly.. Suggest you to read this guide before you take any step :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
Just read it and move..!!
You have some easy options of CM7.1.0 and MIUI ROMS to try... but you will lose warranty as you will have to root and install the boothloader+cwd
But you can always go back to original state if you have a SBF of your service provider or region.
which one you suggest
the link you sent is quite compicated, plz tell some easy process.
My camera lens is green, and it comes from TMobile UK,the i update it to froyo 2.2.2 when T Mobile launched that update.
Man you need to understand what you want to do, else you will brick your phone. so you will have to read that guide. but you can take help of Google n Wikipedia to understand the terms.
my first rom was ms2ginger 2.1 . its quite easy to flash this rom. you can find a video tutorial on YouTube for it.... so enjoy..

Hi there,
After installing CM 7.1 i wanted to go back to my stock firmware
so i flashed the SBF : DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_BLUR_SIGN_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTDE004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTDACH_P019_A022_M002_Service1FF.sbf
with RDLite.
After this i wanted to ROOT my defy with Super1click.. it always worked...
until now
I bought my DEFY+ in the Netherlands unlocked..
It seemes the SBF isn't the same as I bought. To unlock i need to Swipe
that wasn't on the original one...
So what SBF do i need then ?
Or am I ****ed after flashing my Defy ?
Is that some of the latest 2.3.6 sbf's? They aren't rootable as of yet :-/
You aren't fu*ked But, maybe you are stuck If it is one of the latest 2.3.6, then it's version 7 signed, too. That means you can't flash anything older now. I think I have seen some version 7 signed Froyo, but not sure if it was tested... I do use the version 6 Froyo, though, on my DEFY+...
So, rooting isnt possible too ?
Rooting is not possibly yet..

DoomLord v4 doesn't work vor CG7.
But about the Version 7 Froyo, should that be rootable just because its 2.2?
Can anybody confirm that?
Unfortunately there isn't any working tool atm and latest Froyo isn't on BL7 but BL6 so we're stuck with stock firmware. I hope not too long.
Defy Plus 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CEE
@ Chamelleon
You flashed the same ROM.
I got error messages all the time, think its the motorola message service or so.
The phone software isn;t working smoothly like the original one ?

Hi,
My phone came with the same version. It has DFP-189 SBF. You can update it to 2.3.6 by a full SBF flash. If you r phone is fully stock(no root etc.) then you can do that by simply choosing the correct SBF(MB526.AsiaRetail.**.DFP-1321) and flashing it and you will be updated to 2.3.6. There is one another updated SBF (MB526.AsiaRetail.**.DFP231) which I currently have and has different lockscreen and caller UI. You can find all the SBF here . Try by just flashing the SBF and you will be updated and your data will be still there. However should you face any prob you will need to do a data wipe from stockrecovery
But before doing any of that you should know:
1.) The SBF with DFP-1321 has BL6(bootloader version) and thus you won't be able to use any CM made for Defy, will have to use CM builds for Defy+.
2.) The SBF with DFP-231 has BL7 and thus cannot be downgraded to any of the SBFs!! And most imp: You can't root it! Why am I using it? Because phone was in service center and they flashed this SBF!!! :'(
need sbf
anyone can provide me with DFP-891 asia retail sbf

You can without any harm flash DFP-1321 as well!! Since that also is an official release and can be used to go back to stock
I dont want go for 2.3.6 since i heard it wont support cm7,MIUI. Is there any possibility of finding DFP-891 asian retail SBF.
I have been using cm7 and not sure about miui but I think miui 4 beta 2 works

pranks and i use the same ROM,kernel etc...
CM 7.2 Nightlies for DEFY+ work just fine...you can't use any builds exclusive to 2.2 red lens kernel ever...but Defy+ builds.YES
thanx for the info, but i read in motorola forums that 2.3.6 has lot of issues. so reluctant to upgrade to 2.3.4 to 2.3.6. is it not possible to get DFP-891 Asian retail sbf?

Hi, the link for DFP-1321 SBF given in the official thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386942) seems to be broken. This puts me in a spot since I'm made to believe it's not wise to flash a custom ROM without having at least one stock SBF I can fall back on, in case I mess up my phone somehow. I was really looking forward to flashing a custom ROM, and now this problem...
Could someone suggest any alternative link/SBF/method or better still, reupload the DFP-1321 SBF and post the link on the relevant thread? Thanks in advance...

Make a nandroid backup before you flash anything..
If something goes wrong, just restore your backup..
However, there might be a scenario when you cannot access your recovery (highly unlikely if you follow instructions),then you shall need your stock SBF to fall back to.
As for the link being down,

I see, thanks for your response! I wasn't sure whether just restoring a nandroid backup would let get me back to my Stock GB after I flashed a CM10 ROM (It is enough, right? Could you please confim? My Stock configuration right now is super stable and quite fast, I want to ensure I can get back to it at some point if I don't like CM10).

Hello guys, i was trying to instal an official rom to my defy(mb525).. and by mistake i flashied this SBF (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-132_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USADEFYEMARAB1B8TFDE004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRO2DE_P019_A021_M002_HWp3_WIG148151_Service1FF)..
well it working fine even initialized well.. but i found it was saying my defy was defy(mb526) so i wanted to come back to the original android it came in (JORLA_U3_3.4.2_107-9_SIGNED_USAJORDMR1B15VIVBRLA019.0R_JORLAFROVIVBRLA_P012_A012_M002_HWp3_Service1FF)... but it wasn't accepting this SBF anymore always after flashing it thought RSD the screen doesn't turn on and just a white led appears.. so ..it is completely dead.. i tryied to reflash the (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP...) again but anything happens.. stay the same.. how could i solve this problem?

is there any way to root it? or even downgrade? i need i hate myself because of it now!
Hi all...
Maybe supid question...
I have bought on ebay black motorola defy+ as my 2nd phone.
In about was model MB526. So i have not tested all functions and i directly installed original sbf, then rooted sbf, then cwm recovery.
Then i enter in cwm recovery and install cm-7-20121008-unofficial-jordan_plus-signed.zip and gapps.
All was okay...but now classic defy camera problem - camera is green.
When i tried open camera it say Cannot connect to camera. Catlog say Could not open camera hw.
Under battery on sticker is MOTODEFY MVQ7-334411D11
SM2805AE7E1
L026NU6276
I can give imei too...
My question is...is this really defy+ ?
...and is possible to have defy+ with green camera?
THX

You can check on Motorola.com with IMEI
you have to register then go to my registered products and tipe IMEI
...okay...so this defy is really MB525.
Sh*t
...so i have MB525 with 526 firmware and there is no bootloader downgrade for camera works.
Right?
Sorry for reviving a thread from early December... but before I made my own thread about a similar issue I decided to hick-jack this one.
So someone gave me a Motorola Defy (MB525, MKQ7 334411B11 according to the sticker on the board) as a gift. It is a GREEN LENS, Motorola Defy from T-Mobile US.
Well they gave it to me 'semi bricked' after the person flashed it with a CM10 rom build made especially for the Defy+ (MB526).
According to my research the latest build for the Defy (MB525) is from September 24.
I have tried it but the phone keeps acting up.
Is there anything I can do to make the phone work again??
EDIT: Apparently, the phone was flashed with a JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005... sbf and it originally had android 2.1. Dunno how much that information helps...
Serach google for downgrading
I read about an Bl.7 Sbf which have an froyo kernel
So maybe there is a way to create green lens .sbf with bl.7
Look for threads from walter79

Can anyone else confirmed this?? I am trying to revive this Defy and if those work I know what I will flash it with later.
Edit: Quarx 2ndboot roms, use custom kernels that work on both. Confirmed.
It was flashed with
Code:
"JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005_VFBLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8VFAT03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYOVFAT_P015_A016_M001_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf"
because my friend was scared that the T-Mobile USA sbf that he found would be "too" up to date making it harder to downgrade later.
I read here that the T-Mobile provided sbf here are the original Eclair and the Eclair updated (which this phone originally had). So, is it safe to download them, flash the phone with them, and start from square one by myself?
Any answer would be appreciated.
Just read the "All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide" and flash with RSD to a froyo sbf...
