[Q] 2.3.4 rom help

hi can anyone help,
i bought a defy sometime ago and the person who sold it flashed the 2.3.4 stock rom from here.

so of corse the defy is green lense so there for camera doesnt work.
is there anyway that i can 1: get camera to work and/or 2: downgrade
ive searched and only found some chinese rom but it has dead links and im a little rusty with nandroid backups etc
can someone guied me
p.s im on cm7.1 if that make any diffrance

I think 2.3.4 can be downgradable to froyo, am i not right?
I have a green lens defy with stock 2.2 froyo, and for cm7, cm9 and miui, the camera works, so I guess that who sold it to you have it upgraded, don't know why, :S
try flashing froyo, then flash cm7 over it
I'm not sure if will work, but why don't give it a shot

No he done full gb 2.3.4 and it says its not downgradeable. I've tryed to flash other sbf's but none work.

it was true back then that it wasn't downgradable. but lucky you the situation has changed. you can now downgrade your phone and install custom roms. there are 2 methods available since your rom is only on cg or bl 5:
1) read the first post of this thread completely as all newbies should:

and in there under common problems/questions you'll find your first solution. this method would preserve your phone to bl5 but it's a bit longer than method 2.
2) method 2 will upgrade your phone to bl6 but it's much easier. so if you don't have any problem with that, use this method:

Try flashing the full SBF from here - I know the link works because I downloaded it myself a couple of hours ago. It's also rootable using the Droid 3 easy rooting tool linked in that thread. It says in the thread that the green lens camera can be got to work using Greenbreadmod.
If that SBF + Greenbreadmod gets your phone working again then I'd try MS2Ginger or CM7 on it (if CM7 will support the green lens camera, not sure). Take a nandroid backup first - install 2ndInitDefy to get CWM on the phone. MS2Ginger is based on Gingerbread but with some nice enhancements eg 1% battery step, power menu, 720p playback, panorama mode etc. I had the 2.1 version of MS2Ginger on my green-lensed Defy for many months and it was rock solid. I've not tried CM7 but lots of people like it.

Install 2nd-init recovery 0.6.1 or later

ive got all moto drivers installed and running as administrator?
just want a stock rom that camera works.
fed up of cm7 keeps crashing.
tries all the others to like miuiandroid and some others.
starting to miss my iphone :-/

What version of RSD Lite are you using?

5.2 I think

not even 5.6 works. it gets so far says fail reboots my phone? f**kin mad. ive flashed my old defy like 20 times before and allways worked.

1) Is your phone actually working at the moment ie can you power it up and get to the home screen?
2) When flashing, do you power it up in to the bootloader? This involves holding vol+ as you press and release the power button.
I'm just wondering whether you might have too little battery to flash. The phone doesn't charge the battery in bootloader mode so repeated flashing can flatten the battery. I believe that bootloader mode will display something like "Battery low - cannot program" if that is the case. Possible fixes are: (1) The McGyver hack, (2) charge the battery in a cheap external charger eg like this one.

[Q] Can't get back to Froyo! ;(

Hi guys.
I installed CM9 on my Defy MB525 and now i can't manage to go back to Froyo!!!!!!!
The only two ROMs that worked to me are:

but i dont want them!!
i want my Official 2.2.1 ... (i used to use this one, stock)

If you flashed Defy+ full sbf, you would never be able to go back froyo. People normally use nandroid and fixed sbf to jump around roms for that sake of freedom between eclair, froyo and gingerbread..

There is only one BL6 Froyo and that is chinese! BL6 is the bootloader version and once upgraded can NEVER be downgraded! So yes you are pretty much stuck!

I have the same problem, but I cannot use this chisese rom because it bootloops.
Is there any other bl6 full sbf?

how to unbrick defy

this only for defy red lens using defy plus sbf that cant be downgrade.
since i cant post on dev section i'll will share my exprience with my brick defy
it was just few hour ago my phone was brick....and i already try many sbf that available on many site still no hope....finally i realize that the main problem on my phone was the bootloader...cause all the problem that make my phone cannot boot up even on bootloader mode....so i download sbf with bl7,flash it with rsd lite 5.7 and.....tadaaa my phone rise from its dead now i am enjoy with my defy again......
so the main problem on our defy is the bootloader that make our phone dead so dont ever mess with sbf if u dont really know the bootloader

If you can't boot, flash a sbf with the same bl nr than the last one you flashed and just wipe data from stock recovery. You don't have to go to the bl 7 ROM if you didn't already flash one. You even don't have to flash any bl4+ ROM on your normal defy. You can do everything from the bl4 bootloader, just flash the defy + kernel in cwm and afterwards your ROM

just to be sure if u using defyplus and already update it using motorola software update u already in bl7....so u must use bl7 sbf to make ur phone live again

this only for those have problem after flash many sbf still get black screen with white led after finish flashing sbf....
you must make sure what BL you use before brick ur phone
in my case i really sure my BL is BL7

the main key is know ur BL and get the right Sbf then u can revive ur phone with no problem

but when u get S blank flash....just start to think buy another phone or get ur phone on service center and replace a new board

I have bought on ebay black motorola defy+ as my 2nd phone.
In about was model MB526. So i have not tested all functions and i directly installed original sbf, then rooted sbf, then cwm recovery.
Then i enter in cwm recovery and install cm-7-20121008-unofficial-jordan_plus-signed.zip and gapps.
All was okay...but now classic defy camera problem - camera is green.
When i tried open camera it say Cannot connect to camera. Catlog say Could not open camera hw.
Under battery on sticker is MOTODEFY MVQ7-334411D11

My question is...is this really defy+ ?

You can check on Motorola.com with IMEI
you have to register then go to my registered products and tipe IMEI

Sorry for reviving a thread from early December... but before I made my own thread about a similar issue I decided to hick-jack this one.
So someone gave me a Motorola Defy (MB525, MKQ7 334411B11 according to the sticker on the board) as a gift. It is a GREEN LENS, Motorola Defy from T-Mobile US.
Well they gave it to me 'semi bricked' after the person flashed it with a CM10 rom build made especially for the Defy+ (MB526).
According to my research the latest build for the Defy (MB525) is from September 24.
I have tried it but the phone keeps acting up.
Is there anything I can do to make the phone work again??
EDIT: Apparently, the phone was flashed with a JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005... sbf and it originally had android 2.1. Dunno how much that information helps...

I read about an Bl.7 Sbf which have an froyo kernel
So maybe there is a way to create green lens .sbf with bl.7
Look for threads from walter79
You can try Quarx 2ndboot rom, they should work on all Defy's

Can anyone else confirmed this?? I am trying to revive this Defy and if those work I know what I will flash it with later.
Edit: Quarx 2ndboot roms, use custom kernels that work on both. Confirmed.

because my friend was scared that the T-Mobile USA sbf that he found would be "too" up to date making it harder to downgrade later.
I read here that the T-Mobile provided sbf here are the original Eclair and the Eclair updated (which this phone originally had). So, is it safe to download them, flash the phone with them, and start from square one by myself?

I can't turn it on, just when I plug it into my PC a white LED lights up and that's all. I can't get into CWM or anything BUT I CAN USE RSD LITE!!!!! It recognises the phone and I can flash files to it. I tried couple of times, but NOTHING CHANGED.
I don't know anything about the phone's past (what type of CG of OS was on is)
I would really apprechiate your help Guys!

Red or Green lens? It was flashed with 2.3 - dont know what, but try to flash BL5, if still white led - flash BL6, if BL6 not works - BL7 - but if you have green lens - camera will never work on stock BL7 - only on custom roms with custom kernel.....

Why you flashed BL7 SBF? First you needed to test on BL6 or BL5 - if it booted you should have working camera with froyo kernel..... Now your camera will NEVER work with stock roms & cm7..... Last hope is CM10.1/10/9 or MIUI 4 ics with 2ndboot....... Only on 2ndboot roms....

I tried to flash CG5 and CG6, but without success...

I really apprechiate your help, but I can't install boot menu to install a Cust. Recovery, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ROOT ACCESS!!!! (And I'm not be able to have, because it's BL7 )

UPDATE: PHONE FIXED!
Finally I succeeded to flash a rooted .sbf which is maybe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956
Than I installed a 2ndBoot CM10 JB and it runs AWESOME!!!!! Everything works like camera, flashlight, etc...
It runs max. at 1,2GHz undervolted and it's ROCK STABLE. Overwhelming 3D performance and I can talk about the cos all day :laugh:

After flashing wipedata and cache from stock recovery or else you will stuck on boot animation and wait for some some time it will boot.
