Hi ,
I Have a defy red lens, last night it was working fine but suddenly the screen light started to fluctuate and then it went off but in background the phone was working and i can feel the vibrations when touching the scree, i tried battery removal but to no avail.
i m receiving massage, mail and calls but the screen in always black and i can even unlock the screen( feel the vibrations of unlocking the screen and answer the calls).
also tried removed the screen protector but still the same problem.
i can see some moisture under the screen so i have berried my defy into rice and i ll see if the problem was due to moisture.
I was using Esspy's latest CM9 with Froyo kernel
please see if some one can help me to revive my Defy again..
Thanks in advance

Can you see anything on the screen when you boot up ? Can you get into recovery and see it ? If yes try wiping cache and dalvik cache . If that doesn't work try reflashing ...

So might be u have to try to dismantle your defy and let it dry. There were some posts on it that such 'dead' defy came back to life after a week or so, but much better way was described by Auris (try to find his post) - he took it apart, dried and voila
I have seen on a few occasion that my backlight dies, but it is related to the ambient light sensor. When this happens, I can enable manual brightness from the notification bar, just because I know where it is on the screen. After switching to manual brightness it works again, even when I go back to auto.
Having said all that... you cannot see the bootloader menu where the light sensor is not used, so it's probably not related.
Questions go in the Q&A section
Thank u guys for you help, as i have said that my defy is in rice box now for almost 7-8 hours so i ll go home in another 3-4 hours and see if there is any improvement in its condition.
also want to know if i can see the boot loader would you guys suggest me to flash froyo ?
Thanks
Still no Screen light and i can see moisture in the bottom of screen so i have decided to send the phone to service center and see what they can do with the same.
Screen was burnt from inside so the service center guys changed it, it cost me 2850 INR (arnd $50), and they also changed my battery.. so now i ll gain have a running defy after 2long days.
Thanks everybody for their help
They'll charge 2-3k for anything, I mean they said it'll cost me around 3500 Rs and they have to change screen n motherboard, I had my screen damaged due to water. I went home kept it under light for 3 to 4 hours and it's now wrking fine.

Tried that, it semi-worked before (you could see something on the screen and sometimes the backlight would come on as normal) now it doesn't work at all
(The phone boots, and touchscreen reacts, but the screen is pitch black).
I guess I'll have to get my game on with the Torx 5 screwdriver and dry the phone on the inside.

Hi, need some help my girlfriend through my x10 at me and cracked the touchscreen digitizer which i replaced with a genuine one.The thing is when i went to turn it on nothing happened so i charged it for about a day when eventually the red battery led started flashing sometimes but still the phone wont turn on.with more charging and disconnecting the battery etc i got the green led to come and when i turned the phone on i got a short vibration and green led but nothing else.so tried updating with seus and finally it seen my phone and told me my software was up to date so i tried to re-install but kept getting errors so still phone wont turn on and now green led does nothing.so cut a long story short i took apart the phone again and noticed the lcd had a line down the middle which seems like its cracked also.My question now is if the lcd is cracked would that be why the phone wont turn on i would of thought it would have came on but just had colours splurted all over the screen.Oh and just so you know battery is sitting at 3.7v so is well charged,im thginking the motherboard is gone, please advise me what to do next.
did she throw the phone at you coz you wrote her a letter without paragraphs?
lol,can you help me
lol not really
but it does sound like the motherboard is screwed. not sure how the 2nd screen got cracked tho.
Why haven't you taken the phone in yet? is it not on contract?
O.k., I agonised myself throug you post....
PLEASE make your first post easier to read, as there are several non-native english speakers here. (Like me ).
Can you please write something about what happened to the phone?
- Did it work fine before you repaired the touch module?
- Why was the old module defective (Did the phone fall down or did anybody sit on it).
- Is there some waterdamage?
The more information, the better....
Hi to everyone. Well, the other day I was in my friends pool, and I left the phone on a table near the pool. The usb and headset connector were closed (double checked).
Ok, In some moment, my friend jumps to the pool, and some water goes to the phone. Because I've sent the phone to RMA when the earpiece got broken, I was thinking the waterproof was ****ed up (also, the a** holes that repaired it, rounded the screws ); and I was right. I've found some water vapor in the top of the screen, and if I press it, some water came out from the earpiece.
Instantainly, I've removed the battery and let the vapor dissapear (I've left the phone inside the house, in room temperature).
After the vapor goes away, I've tested it.
Although its still working, the system doesnt started anymore (boot loop on the cyanogen), also the Red led of the notification RGB led stayed on.
Now, I've flashed the stock Froyo sbf, so tomorrow I can call the RMA (although Personal of Argentina, doesn't pickup any call for tech. service anymore, ) and try to send it.
Because Im a little bit not-optimistic, I just want to ask if someone knows how to turn off the led (I was thinking on "echo 0 /sys/class/leds/red ... etc"), but maybe other solutions may work.
EDIT: Looks like if you charge the phone to 100%, the red led turns off (at least, it didn't turn on again)
EDIT2: The led turned on AGAIN. Im really starting to get angry. My idea to do "echo 0 /sys/class/leds..." failed, because the led its off (at least, that thinks the kernel).
Thanks in advice!
Funny u type the "F" word but ain't type the 2nd part off "ass****".
I wouldn't worry about the red light I sent mine in with it. They sent me a whole new replacement also with red light! U should be fine in my opinion. ¿ good luck!
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Hi. Well, I've charged it till 100% and the red light dissapeared. Kinda of strange, because the battery indicator says "60%". However, its likely impossible to contact the RMA of my carrier. Theyre always busy.
EDIT: The led turned on again..
Thanks

sorry, i didn't fixed it. also, some part in the LCD is blurred.
now i'm trial with the carrier for that
It's a good idea; I just received (last week) my phone back, they changed the whole "mainpiece". I had a camera "issue" (there were something in the lens).
Just don't tell for your carriers service the whole story and it'll be fine.
Actually, the whole story its true. I never opened the phone, neither modified anything related to the hardware.
Anyway, good luck with that!
I see, but in my carriers warranty the "swimming with phone" is denied; it's only spill-resistant as they wrote. (The phone could resist more of course, but they won't replace that.)

But it was a spill, he didn´t dive with it.
Anyways, i got the same problem, but my luck was a bit worse. Besides the red Led problem, the water screwed my LCD screen.
The technician charged me R$330 (or $175) to fix the phone. So I decided to do it myself and bought a new LCD on ebay ($33 with shipping), will replace it in a week or so.
Did anyone solved the red led problem?
Do i have to replace some hardware part that to fix the LED?
I dropped mine in a muddy puddle over a year ago ( everything was sealed), and the red lights been on ever since then, after that happened there was a tiny bit of vapur visable just to the left of the LED, but apart form the constant red LED which comes on as soon as the battery is inserted regardless of weather the phone is on or off everything seems OK.
The only downside is that i dont think it would survive another drop/spash as the bezel is now cracked ( top plastic part roughly above main earpeice to the headphone port ) does anyone know where i can obtain a Defy outer shell ( chasis) complete with gorilla glass/digitiser ec?
My father dropped his phone. The phones display isn't working anymore (kind of). It stays black. The LED works, the buttons light up, sounds function but the display is black. When pressing the home key the buttons light up for aprox. 1 second then turn off.
Help would be appreciated because I am not a Samsung person
Please help!

Since its just screen then just take it to them. Thought it was broken.
Although you have warranty, seems it would be hard to get it a service center to repair it without a cost to it. Best bet take it to a Samsung service center and try your luck(they will charge you more than likely). Seems the device is too damaged for normal operational use.

XDA does not condone doing things to circumvent OEM warranty. I think people can figure things out on their own.
Considering the device is under warranty, then just send it in for service. Clearly a connection came loose on the display, and disassembly will viod the warranty. Best left to professionals.

Thanks

And I totally agree ^^^^^
Well, for info, I had an Iconia A501 tab (best tablet Acer made). It was a die-hard beast (until it became my 2.5yr old little girls tab):laugh::laugh:
After 1 year slamming around, dropped I don't know how many times, some nand became corrupted. Now, don't laugh, but I removed the MB and put it in the oven for a bit (10 or 12 min). And shazzam! Could reload the OS.
You see, these OEMs "cold solder" the connections, chips and such, and dropping can make them come undone or lose contact. So a bit of heat, then pressing the chips back in place, can sometimes work.
But some months later, I finally put it to rest. Just too much abuse :laugh::laugh:
Good luck Mate, hope they get it sorted.
Hey guys

Most likely it's a hardware issue. Are you able boot into bootloader mode with screen working?
boot into recovery and factory wipe it.

Most probably hardware issue. Get it checked in care center .

I faced similar issue with my previous droid maxx, phone was on but only the screen's backlight came up. It happened all of the sudden when I was watching youtube. I thought the LCD ribbon connection was loose so I disassembled the whole phone and put it back on but no success. I ended up leaving it on the desk and one day the screen woke up on its own. The battery was at 1%, not sure if that triggered anything that fixed the problem. Maybe you could leave the phone until it drains out the battery and see if it could work for you.
Another way is to get into fastboot or recovery and do a factory reset
Maybe the flex cable is loose or disconnected
Assuming you haven't unlocked the bootloader, ask for replacement.

Yea I am. I have to wait until Monday for a reply
Hi Danny_Cai. I'm currently experiencing the same issue with my Moto Z play smartphone. So I wanted to ask, did you just replaced the phone in the store? And what was an actual cause of this problem?
Possible solution Motorola X-Play Back light Problem
Hi Danny,
I had a similar problem with my phone. Not under warranty so took the back cover off using a T3 star bit.
Radio Shack probably has it also.

At the bottom of my phone, there are two spring contacts. One was sitting loose and must have been causing some kind of problem. It fell out, and I did not reattach it. Haven't had a problem since.
Link:imageshack.com/a/img924/364/5cOdgc.jpg
It may be something as small as that. Not sure what it was for but haven't noticed any difference in the phone.
Hope you find your solution.
Craig
Guys i also have this issue, did u figured it out what exactly it is?
All sensors, except fingerprint, are not working (accelerometer, proximity, light, heart meter, etc.). And my LED indicator is always glowing red (not bright, but low light red).
Any ideas why aren't they working?
Btw, I have submerged the phone in swimming pool and took one video for about 10sec.
=====UPDATE====
It is overheating and draining battery like crazy now.

Hello,
I am sorry to say that, but your phone got water damage.
I had an a galaxy s5 and took some photos in the swimming pool, and water got in the phone. First it would not work at all, later it started working again but none of the sensors except the fingerprint were working.

That is just great. And it is "waterproof" phone... I just hope warranty covers that...
Blackview BV6000 is the phone that is waterproof
Hah! The same happened to me just today.
Very similar situation by the way. Went to the pool (the kids pool, it isn't even deep) to make some underwater videos to show off the smartphone camera later, and bang.
Symptoms:
Display is stuck with the "maximized for best viewing under sunlight" message.
Accelerometer, gyro and motion sensor are all stuck
Fingerprint sensor takes a looong time to recognize my finger
When pressed the Power button, it activated the SOS Messages (meaning that the Volume Up and Volume Down keys were also pressed), sending messages to mom, dad, and two friends.
Any news on the warranty in our cases?
Problem solved
Hello guys
My galaxy s7 edge was dropped in water thereafter no sensor was working.
After investigating problem for 6 months I just got changed my proximatory sensor strip in $15 from local market.
Further if there is water (oxidation) in mother board then get it clean carefully with some special liquid and dry with warm air.
Now all the sensors are working and another problem after upgrading to Android N ' late wake up' problem is also solved.
Thanks
A possible solition?
Hallo,
i had the same problem on my Galaxy S7. All Sensorsw stopped working without me doing anything. Also it didn't fall or came near water or anything. I had only zeros or N/A on the *#0*#-test screen. An update to Oreo also didn't help.
My solition was to shut the phone down and hold the power-botton for like 30 seconds. After that I just powered my phone up and it was working again.
I knew this trick from my laptop, and i hink it's used to drain the charge on the motherboard, but i don't know.
I hope it helps
