[Q] Defy and Mugan Power - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a moto Defy with Wiui GB stable on it. I recently got Mugan 1700mha battery.
The problem I face is that there are big drops in battery levels. The drops happen a lot of time and is pissing me off. Any help I can get to fix it?

Have you tried completely draining the battery, then charging it to 100% and leave it charging after 100% for an hour more and then using a battery calibration app?

[BUG] Phone won't full charge battery (with At&t 4.1.83)

don't know if someone point out this already..
impressed by the short battery life of my Atrix, definitely lower than i expected, i make this try, and that's what i found out..
if you full charge the battery (phone shows "charged" or "100%" if you charge it when off) , then pull it out WITHOUT disconnect the usb charger, the phone reboots, then it shows a big picture of a battery with a question mark in it.. if you put in the battery again, the charge is stuck at 60%, and it takes about another hour to get the battery full..
so it seem that the phone think that battery is full, and stop charging it, when in fact it isn't..
if someone had a Motorola Milestone before, this was a known bug, due to the motorola kernel, who was solved only by some later Roms..
i haven't yet tested if using this, battery life is effectively longer, (just discovered), but with Milestone it was. a lot.
maybe our battery life can be better than it is now, if we can make phone recognize the full charge when it realy is..
P.S. i'm on stock At&T froyo.. if this was solved by latest kernel and Gingerbread i'm sorry for the useless post..
i can confirm my battery life improved after charging my phone in that way, like it was with Milestone and according to what i expected..
in fact, to charge a 1900 mA battery with a 850mA/h wall charger, it MUST takes, in a perfect world without energy dissipation, about 2h20' from discharged.. don't know about your, but my Atrix normally takes less, so it seem more than probably that it isn't really full charged
still waiting someone who test this on Gingerbread.. hope this issue's gone..

Just tried it on GB 4.5.91, when I popped the battery back in it said it was at 5%. It's charging up now, I'll update when it's done charging up...
If you have CWM you can clear the battery stats, then use Battery Calibration to fully charge and calibrate. I usually leave the phone charging for about 15 minutes after I get the fully charged message, then calibrate.

So you reckon his battery isn't calibrated. If yours is, can you perhaps try what he suggests & report back? That'd be useful!
(I'm calibrating mine right now otherwise I would have tried..)

Same here, how did you go?
Mine seems to be stuck on 5%
If I boot the phone, its 100% and 4200mV but as soon as I unplug it it goes to 99% and 41** mV

That's where I was for a long time (stuck at 5%), so I decided to calibrate the battery then give it another go. Right now the battery is draining, hopefully by tomorrow I'll have some results worth posting...
EDIT: After recalibrating, draining, and recharging, the battery still says 5% when you pull it and replace it. I'm charging up overnight, will update again tomorrow.
2ND EDIT: Charged for about an hour and a half, and it went up from 5% to 15%. After another 7 hours, it was still at 15%. Looks to me like a glitch in how the phone reads the battery, but don't know how much it's actually affecting battery life.
Today's my first day trying Green Power, so we'll see how that does.
so it seems Gingerbread acts in a different way..
maybe this bug was solved, with latest kernel, since if you're stuck on 5% and don't increase, phone is definitely NOT charging... it seems that it doesn't well recognize the amount of charge, but probably it is full..
i repeat, mine goes from 60% (when i pull and put the "charged" battery) to 100% in about an hour, bringing the total time of charging to 2h 15', that is how it needs to charge a 1900mA @850mA/h...
it's maybe simpler to check if it was solved or not.. if your phone takes about that time to full charge, we can assume that's act properly..
will try the calibration, thanks for the hint..

[Q] Charging battery for the first time

Hi, I got my Defy today. I put the mobile for charging 2 hours ago. I'd like to know for what period should I put it for charging as it is the first time for optimum performance of the battery..
I tried searching the forum for a similar question but didn't find any. Please delete this post if it is a an already answered question.
Doesn't matter. May be charge it for some 2 hours more. You can't overcharge the battery - it has protection. For optimum performance, just don't drain the battery to 0%, although it has protection for this too.
Ok, thanks, its already been 2 hours since the battery reached 100% mark. Will stop charging now.

Although it is generally said that a new battery should be charged for at least 8 hours before use, it may not be necessary. Just fully charge it. However, the capacity may be lower and unstable at first. If charged too quickly, just take it out and reinsert it, and connect the charger, again.
What I normally do is charge it till 100% and disconnect.
Then every month, I'll use up the battery till it shuts itself down, turn phone off, charge it till full.
Any other time, will plug into mobile charger whenever I'm in the office till it's 100% and use it thereon.
Both answeres after mine, are for the old nicd batteries. For liion batteries it is bad to overcharge and discharge to min. Anyway, as i said, there is soft and hard protection for this, so n.p.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE!!! I MEAN NONE! that you allow ur batt to goto 0% or you will be effed royally by Defy. I and many others faced this. If your battery is like 15% you either charge it instantly by USB or if you have no means then just turn it off and charge in wall charger when you go home. Just don't ever let your defy goto 0% battery because if it does, you like me and many others will be stuck to M logo or white LED ****.

your lucky bro! don't do that, i was like you all naive and my defy was fine until one day, that happened to me. It didn't turn back on when i tried to recharge it only White LED or M logo.
I didn't even do any flashing or rooting of any kind on my defy then, heck i was on 2.1 eclair. So, be careful and heed my advice or one day you will regret it like I am now.

Use juice defender for added improvements from first day.. i get 2x boost , to save those extra bits when most nedded .. as for ur question , you need to calibrate your battery in order for it last longer
I advice u to charge 100% + 2hrs , and then discharge it to 10% or lower Without charging it in between !,

[Q] 2nd battery

Hello. I have 2 battery's for my defy+. They are both the same mah. My problem is that if I charge one battery to 100% then change to the other battery and charge that to 100% when I then put my first battery in it will only charge to 84 %. I have tried battery calibration and wipeing battery stats.. I'm running white rabbit 1.3 atm..
Hope that someone can understand what I mean
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
the 84% charging bug is because of the software inside your phone, not the battery
most custom ROMs for the defy+ charge only upto 84%( except CM7 with a patch made by AL). The rest don't charge upto 100%.. Go for MSGinger or Stock ROM

Battery defy

Hi,i have a defy green lens...my problem is battery..charge my defy come of 35% to 19%....and 95% to 100% is very slow...when unplug charge is 99%..i use battery calibration but not solve problem..help me plz......sorry my english is bad...
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
Sounds like a bad battery. Try a different one. Chances are it won't happen with a different battery
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
I think that is normal, and 99% I think is because beyond you are charging the battery, phone is consuming battery too, so when u unplug the cable, appears 99%.
Mine did a similar, just not as bad. Something like 26% to 19% but I fixed it by not plugging it in until it was less than 5% and sometimes waiting for it to completely die. With it being that bad, you will probably need a new battery if that doesnt help any

[Q] Defy going mad

I had bricked my defy MB525 and bought a new battery since the old one was inflated. After installing the battery I managed to flash the Eclair T-Mobile SBF but after that the bootloader read "Low Battery Cannot Program". When i plugged it into the charger I got a screen with a battery and a ? in it. When i connect it to my PC it charges, switches on and then dies after 10 mins. The cycle keeps repeating. The bootloader and stock recovery don't work. When i pushed battery calibrator it read 5% and 3119 mV just before it dies every time. At first it was at 3254 mV. My question is how to get the phone to charge to 100% so i can calibrate the battery since it keeps discharging after bootup.

I think your new battery has a problem and can't charge (i'm not sure), you should ask for a new one where you have bought it .

i thought new batteries, genuine or not, don't come fully charged? you were lucky to even able to flash the sbf with the little charges it had. a better idea would be to buy an external battery charger in my opinion.
