For froyo use any kernel with a version less than 2.4
CF-Root-JPM-v1.2-Busybox-1.15.3.zip
Is that one okay?
Does it come with CWM
if not how do i get it
I just want to install CM9
Update to value pack fw using Odin, root, flash CM9. Why the heck are you on FroYo?

The "root" in the kernel version has
nothing to do with rooting and
unrooting. It is simply an indication of
the user name under which the kernel
once was compiled. It belongs to this
specific kernel and can't be changed
can any one plz suggest me the best rooting software for my xperia....i mean a simple one...i
my baseband version is 2.0.49 and kernel 2.6.29 running on eclair 2.1-update 1
flash tool? just a click.
The flash tool is the fastest and simpliest way to root. or you can download the APK Z4root. but i suggest the first one
Z4 does not work on the 2.1.1 X10 firmware.
I use SuperOneClick for rooting. Works like a charm.
Flashtool, flashtool, flashtool.
It works on any FW and all you need to do is plug in your phone and press the button.

Hey,
i can´t flash CWM on my Galaxy S. What I found out:
My Galaxy S with build number Gingerbread.XWJVI and baseband XXJVO have to get another kernel, like a CF-Root kernel, to be able to flash CWM. But I don´t really know which I have to choose. There´s no CF-Root kernel near at mine. Or does exist any other solution for my problem?
Thanks and merry x-mas!
Flash jvt, then flash cf-root for jvt and you will get root and cwm

Where do I get the firmware? samfirmware.com?
Nope... Samfirmware has shifted to www.sammobile.com...
Edit : why go out there when we wud get it out here in xda... Just search for ramads (stock) or somators (stock+root) thread...
hey guys i did this method for root the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956
i could install CM7.2 , white rabbit etc but i tried with cm9 and nothing!
when i reboot it enters on bootmode with 4 errors!
i flashed the cm9 kernel and everything and nothing
what happens?
thank you!
You shouldn't have flashed cm9 kernel as stock gb kernel would have worked just fine.
Go back to your stock ROM with stock kernel and then flash cm9 again without flashing any kernel.
This method worked on my defy+ without any issues.
ohhh okay thank you!
i cant downgrade to my stock rom ,
it can be this one?
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed.sbf
i have now with cm7.2 kernel 2.6.32.9 ge281b6e [email protected] #1

Any stock ROM having Android version 2.3.4 or above will do. But it should have stock GB kernel. In my case I was on 4.5.1-134_DFP-1321 (Asia Retail firmware android 2.3.6) and my kernel version is 2.6.32.9-gbdd614e [email protected]#1
Use 1321...don't flash kernel and install cm9...works fine on my Defy+

Hi,
So..I have a SGS running gingerbread 2.3.4!
I want to root it and upgrade to CM10. I need your help :
-the safest way to root my phone; i bricked it in the past
-a final CM10 os,not a beta
Here are my phone specifications :
-Model: GT-I9000
-Firmware version: 2.3.4
-Baseband version: I9000XXJVQ
-Kernel version: [email protected] #2
-Build number: GINGERBREAD.XFJV9

you need to upgrade this to 2.3.6, either use Ezboot or a jvu+root from My Android Collections to get it done after you have done the full wipes , once you have 2.3.6 running, root it with the file downloaded together with JVU or a semaphore GB kernel
after that read this and you can use whatever ROM you have chosen to use
Can someone give me a video or another way?

personally i did it:
flash GB as said via odin.
flash 2.7.4 semaphore kernal via odin.
flash Cm9 via recovery
flash latest CM10 twice
Flash JB Gapps....
job done.
obviously ensure you have cm9 and 10 on your sd card prior

Here is a more complete guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546&highlight=jw4
After you have CM9 it's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778526
However you should read more about EFS backup, Odin, download mode, recovery mode, bootloops, just to be prepared for possible hiccups.

You don't need root for update any fw to cm10, cm9 etc.
Just:
1. flash with ODIN alternate kernel (Semaphore_kernel_JVR_1.4.0.tar) for your's 2.3.4;
2. download and copy to phone sdcard .zip with preferred cyanogen;
3. install these .zip from CWM in Recovery menu.
That's all.
Has someone used this one /\?? I think i'm gonna do it.btw, what semaphore does?
