[Q] rootin xperia - XPERIA X10 General

can any one plz suggest me the best rooting software for my xperia....i mean a simple one...i
my baseband version is 2.0.49 and kernel 2.6.29 running on eclair 2.1-update 1

flash tool? just a click.

The flash tool is the fastest and simpliest way to root. or you can download the APK Z4root. but i suggest the first one

Z4 does not work on the 2.1.1 X10 firmware.

I use SuperOneClick for rooting. Works like a charm.

Flashtool, flashtool, flashtool.
It works on any FW and all you need to do is plug in your phone and press the button.

[GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero
got to his second post
after update it will still have baseband 2.42.01.04.27 but you can root it now
my baseband is 2.42.01.04.27 but the software is 2.27.651.5. my firmware version is : 2.1 - update 1. does that have anything to do with it? I tried to root last night using regnaw's post and it would not give me superuser permission. I want to learn how to root this before I start rooting my evo. how do we run the ruu to make sure it is it downgraded?

Use super one click. No need to run RUU and downgrade. Search on here and you'll find it. Roots older versions and the newest update.

Yep, the ones giving themselves root access to download remote code for your phone.
No, really, you're prolly better off to flash a rooted stock kernel such as CF-Root by Chainfire, it's the normal kernel that came with your firmware but root access is added (plus the necessary tools), nothing else. Got no link at hand but a quick forum search should make you find it instantly.
Flash a rooted kernel with odin and your done within minutes.

Thets what i suggest to if flashing a kernel isn't an option (although i prefer flashing a kernel myself). Search it and be sure to tick "Usb debugging mode" on your phone!
I fall into Landorin stated situation in that my stock setup on KC1 wont let me use superoneclick. So looks like flashing a kernel is my only option.

With out a doubt the best way to root your phone is using Chainfire's kernel.
Or you can try gingerbreak also chainfires work. Its meant for 2.2.3 but apparently work fine for 2.2.1 no odin kernel flash needed.

[Q] How to upgrade rooted S2 from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?

Hey guys!
So I took your advice, bit the bullet, and rooted my phone despite potentially losing my warranty. One thing that I was hearing around these forums is that 2.3.4 solves a lot of issues, is that true? If so, I would really like to upgrade. Now that I have a rooted phone, is there anything different to go about doing that? Can I upgrade or would I also have to install a customer kernel again? AND if there is one, which one?
Thanks guys!
Shawn
Just flash to 2.3.4, then re-root again like you did before. No difference.
you don't have to root your phone to install official leaked 2.3.4 rom. Root is required only for cooked roms.

Since you have a rooted phone, just use CWM and load a 2.3.4 rom.
Sorry if i am off topic but new here and still confused with the famous root...
My phone is not root yet but thinking to flash to the 2.3.4 thru KIES, so my question is if i upgrade can i go back to 2.3.3 if i don't like it ???
Thanks in advance...

Yes you can downgrade... 2.3.4 is not so different than 2.3.3, however, you can't downgrade via KIES, you have to use Odin and old firmware.
So, now that I have rooted my phone, can I use KIES to upgrade, or do I have to use CWS? I really want that 2.3.4 upgrade after I heard how much better the battery life is with the upgrade.
You can, Kies won't recognize rooted/non-rooted device as long as you are on Stock ROM.
Hmmm, so KIES says that my version of the phone cannot be upgraded...
At this point, what do I do? I've been looking around and can't figure out a few things... Can someone recommend me to the exact ROM I will need to install to get this working? Once I update the ROM, will I have to do another root process? I imagine no, because from what I know, rooting just overrides the kernel, and a ROM comes with a kernel. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Make sure you type *#1234# in the keypad and record down the PDA, Phone and CSC versions before you update. Make sure you are able to find that exact version on Intratech's stock ROM thread. With this, you can flash back to 2.3.3 if you don't like 2.3.4 using Odin without losing any of your data.

You can upgrade either through KIES, CWM or Odin. Personally I prefer Odin because there are many no-wipe stock ROMs out there in a 1 file package suitable for flashing using ODIN.

Type *#1234# in the keypad and post what is written for PDA, Phone and CSC.
Then go to your settings, About phone page and post what your kernel version is.
I have rooted my phone using the same version kernel as my stock ROM and KIES could still update the phone.

For froyo use any kernel with a version less than 2.4
CF-Root-JPM-v1.2-Busybox-1.15.3.zip
Is that one okay?
Does it come with CWM
if not how do i get it
I just want to install CM9
Update to value pack fw using Odin, root, flash CM9. Why the heck are you on FroYo?
