Hey folks,
I may be getting a MT4G for my 12 year old son off Craigslist. The guy is selling it for $80.00 and said that when he tried to use the camera it makes the screen all weird. He mentioned that someone told him he should flash a new ROM on it and that may fix it or it may be a battery issue.
Thought I would ask here since I don't use the MT4G.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Well, I don't have an answer for you based on experience but...
I just posted a message looking for a replacement camera for my wife's phone. In my searches, I recall reading two threads about cameras malfunctioning after being dropped in liquid. I believe one was dropped in milk and the other in the toilet. In both cases, everything else worked. You may want to ask for a picture of the moisture indicator on the phone.
Another question to ask, is the phone running a custom rom? If so is it an ICS 4.0? If so then yeah more than likely all you need to do is flash another rom

Find out if it is a rooted phone or not and if it is stock or custom rom. might be a bad camera !
..so first thing is to find out what rom it is running and go from there!!

My G2 just randomly yesterday started adding red lines and messed up colors to the screen, it's really hard to describe. I'll put up pictures later but it almost looks like the screen went to 64K colors? I've tried rebooting, flashing new ROMs, even in Recovery the android in the background has the same effect. So it must be something with the screen, anyone know what's wrong?
It sounds like the cable connecting the screen to the rest of the device is either coming loose or is damaged.

Nope... I was literally looking at it one second and it was fine, one minute later it was like that... I just bought it four days ago new and sealed off of eBay. Does HTC offer a manufacturer's warranty?

Anyone? Tried contacting HTC support but all I get is
"Sorry, but either the page you were looking for can’t be found or we are having a problem making it come to life.
You might want to check out our Site Map for a full list of pages available on this site"
after I try sending an email. Any help?
It looks like it stopped dithering or something... i'd try reinstalling the rom.

I am having the same issue with my Desire Z.
I'm wondering if it can be fixed without sending it back to HTC?
Well, both T-Mobile and HTC turned me away, saying I would've had to have gotten it from either of them to be able to be repaired. What do I do now?

HTC does do non-warranty repair, for a price of course.
Is there any chance the ROM(s) you installed were wonky? ie were you using a beta, nightly, or something else? which ROMs have you tried? I had this happen when I used a kernel that was incompatible with the ROM I had installed, which is why I ask. Flashing a standard/respected ROM after a wipe fixed it for me.

No, it's not a ROM, I've been on CM 7 RC0, CM 6 stable, stock Sense, and stock 2.2 and they all do the same thing, even in the recovery the background image has the same effect, so it's not a ROM issue.

It may be a defective ribbon cable for the display possibly a tear in one of the layers. I see this alot in phones I fix at work, and usually the only way to fix the issue is to replace the cable entirely. your only option is to send it out for warranty repair or buy the part yourself and do the fix.
So on craigslist i just bought a nexus s phone...
This phone is in perfect condition and everything but there are some small problems with it.
First off i think it is a prerelease dev phone...
It ran on a build name called: Soju
This build had ridiculously bad battery, like 15 min, but it turned on in about 6 seconds way faster then my other nexus s.
So i tried loading on a different ROM and it worked but the camera will not work for any ROM.
IT SAYS: Camera Error- Cannot Connect to camera
How can i fix the camera on this?
Also is there anything we can get out of the Soju model version? Probably not but thought i would ask
Somebody plesae let me know what to do!
Are you going to send a message every 30 minuts?
Please be patient.
i did it one time man...
No need to hate
what rom you using?

^_^ funny **** did you try Googleing the name of rom or software that you said? Or did the person that you got it from on Craigslist say it was already rooted might wanna call him or her back and ask "what the **** did you do" lol just a thought
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
you can always flash the stock ROM back into the phone with CWR
No when I got it It wasn't rooted.
Also I don't think it is the rom as o have tried muiu too with same response.

if the camera didn't work when you got it why did you accept it? bad battery life sounds like a dead battery, and camera not working sounds like dead phone.
also 5s on google typing ohhh... "nexus s soju" may just - actually, no, it will - find your answer.

I figures out that the camera does work on the original firmware it came with but on that the battery is terrible.
When I loaded new roms the camera stopped wworking.
What radio do I have to have for the latest cm7 and also how do I flash a radio can I do it in clockwork or only fastboot?

Hey guys,
I've got a new HTC Desire Z, its been purchased "off line" i.e. sold without any contract.
Anyway ive noticed sometimes it doesnt come out of stand by, so i done a factory wipe and have no additional software running.
Its still doing the same, i updated via the update option on the phone, that didnt help either.
I've searched old threads, tried most things, i was wondering if theres any new information on the matter.
If all fails ill take it back to the store, but i have no faith in them fixing an intermittant problem...how annoying.
If it's new why not just exchange it?

Not enough information.
Coming out of standby, what exactly is the issue? There are at least 2 different wake issues. Screen has trouble waking, but will turn on if you try enough times or open the keyboard? Or won't wake at all, unless you pull the battery and restart?
Where did you buy it from? Are you still within their exchange period? If so, they probably aren't going to repair, but just send a replacement, which is probably a good thing. If you aren't within the seller's exchange period, they probably aren't going to help you.
Were you fully stock and unrooted before updating?
You stated you tried "most things". What does that mean? We have not idea what that means if you don't tell us. Tell us exactly what you tried to do.
What country are you in? Keep in mind, if the phone was not intended to be sold in your country, you have no HTC warranty (which is normally good for 1 year), per their terms.
In my time lurking, I've seen multiple people say they sent back rooted phones to T-Mo and it went unnoticed. This made me wonder if they actually checked or not so I just wanted to know your opinions. I'm starting to think that you could probably get away with it if you just flashed a stock Gingerbread rom. I'm starting to find it quite amusing.
hope
I hope not, that way I will be screwed if something happens to the phone, i dont think I even have warranty to begin with.
If Tmobile are clever they most likely to do check it
I had a friend who bricked their G2 using some sort of visionary root and they were able to get a new one via warranty.
I have sent back several rooted phones to various different companies under warranty and got new replacement phones without any hassle every time... touch wood hope that continues...
unroot if you have the time.

I've send mine back a while ago because the screen became black and wouldn't come up again. Was running Virtuous Unity at that moment but still they repaired the problem and didn't touch my custom ROM.
Maybe if it is a software problem the repair company investigates further what happened to it?

Hey,
I'm getting my Find 5 in the next week and looking forward to flash it. Still tho, I dunno what rom I could flash (looking forward to a KitKat flavor). I got several questions according to choose the best rom
1. What's the difference between "original Android dev" and "Android dev."?
2. Does flashing work without any precaution (since the Bootloader is unlocked @ stock)
Offtopic: I've heard of not a little amount of people who broke their phones at the first drop. seems like the find 5 is despite its very rocksolid body kinda sensitive. Could you suggest me a good'n cheap case (previously I used an HTC sensation)?
Thanks in Advance

1.i dunno what the difference is sorry.
2. There's always the risk of bricking your phone no matter what. No Dev will ever tell you their rom is foolproof because fools will prove them wrong lol. Just follow instructions and read, read, read. The find 5 is the easiest phone to root and install a ROM IMHO but there's always risk. I personally think omni ROM is far ahead of anybody else. It's fantastic. Give it a shot you won't be disappointed.
I've never had an issue dropping it, happened once or twice, can't tell. But there's hardly any cases for this phone. One of the only bad things about it. I've had 2 imak cases and they are pretty good. Mostly just add some grip. The corners wear out fast though. Hope I helped!
