please i need help..my Samsung galaxy tab turned off by itself and when i tried to turn it back on nothing happens so i tried several times with the power button till it starts and frozen on the Samsung galaxy tab logo...anyone can help me please
Your tab is "soft bricked." Will it go into download mode?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
Download mode is when you press and hold down the power button and the volume down key.
If it enters download mode then you're okay:
Do this: its complicated, make sure you follow the steps exactly. And ask in that forum if you have any questions. Mine had the same problem this week (my own fault), and I had to reflash stock firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469635
If you don't have cwm on it, then odin is likely your only solution. Warning! Filefactory, the olace from which our fimrwares are hosted wants money, so they limit the download speed for free users to 45kbps. It's wretched, it took 3 HOURS to get... so be patient.

Have you tried plugging your Tab into the Mains electricity supply and powering it on?
I still got battery if that's what you mean
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
No... sorry what I am referring to is plug your Tab into the elecrtic mains as if you were charging it and try switching it on.
It has been known to 'wake up' the Tab on machines that are stuck. This is because you can not perform a battery removal trick on the Tab.

I got it from t-mobile uk do you know where i can get there stock firmware please
The last I heard (2 weeks past) was T-Mobile have not released their stock ROM out.
Have you tried going to samfirmware.com and looking for the ROM file there?
It would mean using Odin but to be frank I prefer Odin to Kies.
Kies bricked my SGS and Odin with samfirmware's ROM file sorted my bricked phone.
Yeah been to samfirmware got some firmware tried them but still no luck, im sure im doing right with odin can you give me some instructions just to make sure im doing right
If you want some instructions on using Odin have a look at this titled 'How to use Odin to Upgrade the SGS to Froyo'.
I know it's for the SGS but the principle is still the same.
b.t.w. I have got to shoot out for an hour.
Leave any messages and I'll get back to you later.
Ok thanks for your help

Place your finger on the home button, push the volume up button and hold it together with the home button. Now while you push those two buttons, push the power button. Hold all three buttons together until you see the first screen. At that moment release all three buttons.
Select the option wipe data/factory reset in the menu that will be presented to you (use volume buttons to go up and down) and than either press the home button or the power button (can't remember which one) to confirm your choice.
Still no luck flashed new firmware still get samsung logo on the screen im stuck in what to do now
I tried to flash the latest firmware
Because of stupidness this was not really successful and my TAB didn't start after the flashing...
also pressing the power + volume down show's no effect.
the display turns on only when it's powered by the charger displaying 2 icons of a phone and a computer
Yes, the two icons are stating the Tab's awaiting connection to a PC but that does not help your predicament given you have already tried to flash another ROM.
Looking at the problem your only option now would be to contact your nearest service centre and explain the situation.
Bear in mind, Samsung got fed up of users rooting their phone's and sent a newsletter to all centres informing them if they receive any phones that had been rooted they were not to treat them under warranty.
You can read that newsletter here ~ Samsung Newsletter to Service Centre's ~ Rooting Voids Warranty
Give them a call anyway and see what they say. There should be one near you, I have three near me in the UK.
When I had a problem with my SGS I telephoned them, they told me to bring it in and would check it out there and then.
ownhd2, I had the same problem and I solved with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854300
1) Download the the file HERE and extract the it
2) Inside the ZIP you will find Odin 1.7 + PIT file + PDA +Modem + CSC files.
3) Open Odin, select the PIT file + PDA + Modem + CSC into their respective places.
4) Make sure repartition is CHECKED.
5) put the phone in download mode and connect it to your computer. start flashing.
6) The device will reboot. If you are getting tons of FC's on boot, reboot into recovery and do a factory reset.
Done.
Thanks for the info will try it tomorrow. Thanks again

I turn My sgs off. But when i hold Power + Volume up + Menu, It just boots phone normally. It will not go into recovery mode no matter how long i hold them for.
Any suggestions?
If you have download mode (same but with volume down key) then recovery mode should also work. For me to get to recovery I release all buttons once the galaxy s screen shows then recovery screen pops up about 5 secs later.
If you dont have download mode then check this out. I have used the Odin method numerous times without issue but take your time reading the instructions.

This should fix it.
EDIT: just noticed you mentioned menu key....its actually the home key you need to press instead.

I give up with this. Ive read about 7 trillion step by step guides and my phone just aint havin it.
Im buying an HTC Desire HD.
Screw galaxy Ive had enough.
Thanyou for your help :]
I always have trouble getting to recovery mode using the power + up + home method, the easiest method to get into recovery mode seems to be using the extended power menu or quick boot apps.
Hi there,
I tried to root my new GNote , but I messed up with a silly mistake after I flash another rom for SGS2 ( this is a reminder to double check the procedures TWICE ) using Odin3 v1.85.
My GNote now in black screen and never boot ( of course ) .....
The device still recognized by Odin3 ( I saw the box becoming yellow everytime I connect the USB cable ) , but of course I couldn't go in download mode !! However, I downloaded the stock rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310513 ) and I tried to flash it using Odin3 , but no success !!
Also I could see the device using the adb devices.
Please help to recover to the stock rom.
So you have now a sgs2 bootloader.... You need a jiig to put it in download mode and then, you will be able to flash a stock rom with odin. This is what I have down to reset my flash counter
Sure you can go to download mode.
Shutdown, hold start, volume down and power button at the same time until the screen appears. Release and it will go to download mode.
Now you can flash using odin.

Still no Success
Open a command prompt, navigate to your Android SDK,
Adb reboot download
If that doesn't work then you'll need a jig
Sent from my Insanity powered SGS2
Pressing the power button for a longer time will shut it down as well.
Or
Take out the battery a bit longer, hold down volume button already before putting in the battery.
(sometimes it starts by itself when you place the battery)
Keep trying.
Suddenly it will happen.
I'm almost sure....

When i try to reboot into anything it goes straight to this.
3 button combo.
Hold power, home and volume up.
When the blue texts shows in the upper left corner of the splash screen, release power and continue to hold the home and vol up buttons. You will get to recovery.

Yea i understand where your trying to get me. It used to go there. But now the second I try any sort of power up it gets to the screen and shows the blue text in the top left for a split second and then goes straight to odin
Trust me, it should work, just try. That is a method if the 2 button combo does not work.

I was able to get my phone to turn back on. But getting into recovery mode is not happening. I've done the buttons I've done the settings reset. All of them when I try to reboot it goes straight to Odin mode. Nothing else. I help the 3 down for 2 mins and still just went and stayed Odin.

Are you holding volume up or down?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda premium
Did the op try to flash a recovery and rom on mf3, because if you did you're hosed. You won't be able to get into recovery. Not even sure jtag will help you.
happened to me yesterday...download Kies and go to tools and do the emergency firmware tool thing...put in your model SGH-I337 and your serial number and assuming your computer reads your phone in odin mode (it should if you have the drivers that come with kies) then sit back and let it restore your device to factory stock...
I did it successfully and rooted with motochopper. Now im currently running Kangabean 4.3 with no problems whatsoever.

Hello, I just bought a Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 ! I want to root the device, but I can't reach Download Mode ! I press Volumedown+Home+Power! The phone vibrates, nothing appears on the screen. Then after few seconds, it boots back to teh ROM. I tried removing battery, keeping it for several time, this is new out of the box. Btw it boots normally into the Recovery Mode that comes by default with the phone. Any help ?
I can't give you clear answer as I own i9500 which is unlocked initially.Do your phone unlocked?

When you turn on the device releases the power button but hold onto home+ down
Sent from my SGH-I337M
Hold volume down, home and power while S4 is off.
Release power button when S4 starts up.
Push up volume button and ignore the warning.
You should now be in download mode.
Please note that a few clone S4's didn't have download mode. This was how you could tell it was a fake...
