Hi there,
I tried to root my new GNote , but I messed up with a silly mistake after I flash another rom for SGS2 ( this is a reminder to double check the procedures TWICE ) using Odin3 v1.85.
My GNote now in black screen and never boot ( of course ) .....
The device still recognized by Odin3 ( I saw the box becoming yellow everytime I connect the USB cable ) , but of course I couldn't go in download mode !! However, I downloaded the stock rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310513 ) and I tried to flash it using Odin3 , but no success !!
Also I could see the device using the adb devices.
Please help to recover to the stock rom.
So you have now a sgs2 bootloader.... You need a jiig to put it in download mode and then, you will be able to flash a stock rom with odin. This is what I have down to reset my flash counter
Sure you can go to download mode.
Shutdown, hold start, volume down and power button at the same time until the screen appears. Release and it will go to download mode.
Now you can flash using odin.

Open a command prompt, navigate to your Android SDK,
Adb reboot download
If that doesn't work then you'll need a jig
Sent from my Insanity powered SGS2
Pressing the power button for a longer time will shut it down as well.
Or
Take out the battery a bit longer, hold down volume button already before putting in the battery.
(sometimes it starts by itself when you place the battery)
Keep trying.
Suddenly it will happen.
I'm almost sure....

I'm just trying to enter recovery console. I have tryed EVERY button combination & used a computer to just did use SDK. Any help would be GREAT ! Thank you
Just to make sure: you need to release the button at the right time.
Turn off your phone and take out the battery for 5 sec then put the battery back. Then hold power+vol up + vol down together and once you see the Vibrant logo, release the power button immediately WHILE pressing vol up+vol down.
That didn't work tryed 3 times.

Have you tried via adb:
adb reboot recovery
I had difficulty getting to recovery when I reflashed the stock ROM via ODIN. But once it was rooted and I got Clockwork Recovery back on there, I haven't had an issue via the button combination t get into recovery.
I will try that thx for the info.

I was on the same boat as you. I just gave up and did the one-click root process. It wasn't exactly one-click, but it was simple enough. Now I've got the Clockwork ROM manager, which will let you boot into its recovery through the application itself.
I downloaded the one click lag fix app that roots your phone & fix the lag but I just can't get into recovery mode.

I was in the same boat then read to do the 3 button thingy but do not let go of anything until the 2nd time the word vibrant comes up then let go of everything...after hours of frustration,i can't believe how easy it was....not sure why this tip is not in a sticky or easily found on xda.

that does not seem to work. I am pretty sure the newer models have this disabled somehow.

What date code is on your vibrant box? I am on my second phone both built in august and the buttons do not work on either. I had to root via adb recovery. The earlier built phones are rumored to be fine. Dosent seem to matter when you got the phone more when it was made.
My first Vibrant got into recovery no problem, I received a replacement phone which would not get into recovery using the hardware buttons. I called T-Mobile and told them of the problem and they sent me out a new phone. This last one boots into recovery first try. I know there is a common problem with some Vibrants out there not booting into recovery, thankfully T-Mobile will exchange if it won't.
Let me check when I get back home. Is this a t-mobile acknowledged issue with vibrants now?

When mine gets finicky, I just plug it to my Windows machine, Enable USB Debugging, open the command prompt, and type "adb reboot recovery" without quotes. Works every time. You can also use "adb reboot download" to get into download mode.

For what it's worth, this helped me.
Hold volume up, volume down, and power all together, wait for Vibrant to come for the second time, then let go of the power button but not the menu button. After another second, I let go of the volume buttons and instantly went into recovery.
Good luck.
I tried terminal and it said it was not permitted

Someone on the I9000 boards posted that recovery can also be invoked by heat! He used an oven, but suggested a hair dryer to be safe.

I agree with this one. My Vibrant has a date of 8/14/10, and for the life of me it will not button into recovery. I really have read every thread on the topic here as well as other android forums, and tried every combination (over and over).
Rooting was a no brainer with one touch, and with that, I can get to recovery easily. The problem I see, is in the event of a miss step somewhere down the line.
I can't tell you the relief that I felt doing a battery pull to button recovery with my G1(many times). When you are in a bootloop or the like, and nothing else will work, you just need that capability.
Sadly, my Vibrant will be going back because of this. I don't understand why they would hobble the devise this way. I'm sure they will get many more phones returned because of it.
You need to type su first.
From terminal:
su
reboot recovery

Hold down home and power and Vol Down until phone boots to download mode ..
If that fails remove battery replace battery put USB recovery jig into usb socket phone should now boot . If not you need a service centre .

Well, if your read through the thread you will probably find people who have/had the same or a similar problem and you might find the solution there. Also it is still your best bet...
i will Enyan thanks
I had the same problem. I couldn't get it out of download mode - although pressing the power button for a few seconds did switch it off, which reset the progress bar.
In my case the solution was to reflash using Odin on my laptop rather than my desktop PC. It worked fine from the laptop.
Good luck.
Sounds like you failed to kill ALL Kies processes properly thus making Odin fail to flash. Just a hunch.

You use factory mode or download mode with the odin program to flash firmware, custom recoveries, kernels, basebands, bootlogos ect... But most popular thing people use download mode for is when they brick there phone so they can flash there stock firmware and have a working phone again.

Well if I am practically able to boot into 3 different modes with my phone
1. Recovery mode
2. Odin mode (it says odin mode)
3. Factory mode (it says factory mode)
/edit:
maybe it doesn't hit the binary count for example, cause... it doesn't show a warning about "custom os"
Man, there are just 2 "places" where u can boot to:
1. Recovery ( vol up + pwr + home)
2. Download mode ( vol down + pwr + home)
In mine download mode first line says Odin mod (red font) at your screen it stands factory mode but believe me it is all the same shif (by that last f I mean t)
I suppose string ware rewritten in your case with som older stock flashing or so.... What is important is that big "downloading"

Oh I see what you meant now you always used a JIG so you never saw the download screen with the binary count and all that. Like he said there the same thing. I never understood why the JIG or apps that let you reboot into download take you to the screen that dosnt have the phone info and binary count and the three button combo takes you to the screen with the phone info and binary count
