Anyone like me, waiting for a good GB ROM that is reliable and stable. Do you want fast FPS in games, highly apps compatible, fast fps internet video data stream, smooth launcher and no random reboot or FC. Look no further, I've tried every Roms and the best so far IMO is [ROM] [INTL] [WIP] DSC v0.55b. What do you think?
some of my friends here is used DSC too & have the experience like your
btw, is the ROM is being stable 'cause by the OLLEH ROM or the DSC it self?
because, as the Power ROM there also got the stable too (my other friend's experience)
so, what do you think?
I have been using 2.4.4 and its Been pretty stable. Decided to give DSC a try will let u know my experience with it.

How is the battery life compared to the other roms?
I tried almost every ROM from XDA forum and I think that the differences between all roms are very small ... now, I am trying new ROM from Maxicet and everything seems to be OK, nice interface, fast and stable, no problem with widgets and Go Launcher Ex,camera is working(is not white), videos (mpeg4) is working too, wifi is working too, no random reboots, quadrant score is little bit smaller, around 1250, but HD games from gameloft,ea working wery good, so ... maybe I will stay with this ROM and dont go back to DSC rom ...

Hey guys, i searched on google for this question but i wanted to listen the XDA members and developers opinion about this subject...
What is the huge difference (for our Defy) between CM7 and CM9?
i try both of the roms and i think CM7 with android 2.3.7 is a lot better than CM9 which is 4.0.3 and i cant find any good advandage for CM9, so now i still use CM7 because of its smoothness and stability..
What do u think?
thanks and sorry for my english =p
4.0.3
I upgraded from CM7 2.3.5 (Green Lens) to Eppy's CM9 ICS 4.0.3 5th March Nightly (as well as the latest Google apps package). Followed the instructions to a tee and have not had one FC or any issues to report.
Pros
The battery (deep sleep) is amazing.
Battery life is extended by about a day and I am using the phone and 3G more than previous.
Camera Fine
Video Camera (recorded 3 x tests of 5 -7 mins) and no problems
Cons
The only negative is on screen custom brightness the capacitive buttons are not illuminated. But I know where those bad boys are even when they are not illuminated.
I was massively sceptical and reluctant of upgrading to ICS after reading all of the issues people were having, however follow the Guide and all is sweet.
I recommend it!
thanks for your quick answer, but i mainly wanted to ask what is the main difference between the two roms. I cant see something very different and also in Quadrant test with CM7 i get score 2300 but with CM9 only 1750. I dont know why, i thaught that newer versions should get higher score...
I think Quadrant isn't capable of using all the processor while in ICS, I remember reading that video acceleration wasn't working 100% either
I was using CM9 for a time.. but after it make some lags and using 100% of CPU, i decided return to CM7.1 .. For me CM9 has many bugs yet.
The HUGE difference is that CM7 is Gingerbread, while CM9 is Ice Cream Sandwich (more or less, as both are running on a Froyo kernel).
So CM9 brings most of the ICS's goodies: better battery life, better interface, optimisations, etc. and a few still unsolved bugs.
I'll try it too this weekend or the next (depending on the available time).
Cheers!
Hello.
I was gone from forum in a couple of weeks because I got used to WP7 on my HD2. But since ICS came out I couldn't just leave it. So I want to ask you how is ICS working on HD2? Is it so slow and laggy like the other Android ROMs for HD2 were some months ago? If yes which other ROM is relatively fast and smooth today? And if something changed since then can I get names of the fastest and smoothest ICS and GB ROMs with their advantages and disadvantages?
Thank you.
okey~
They are allfast n smooth. For example check out hyperdroid or cm7ite for GB or icecream tosti AOSP+ or tytungs cm9 ics rom for ICS. Ics still have a LITTLE zoom prob n flash isnt fully supported yet. But using youtube app for vids works great. Im using ics now for weeks (as my phone for work, ftp vpn works) and no probs here. If you want a rom which works perfectly with full hardware support check GB. In both, ics n gb there isnt any "slow" or lag anymore. You are also able to oc with stock kernel or dorimanx or fikret kernel up to max 1600mhz. Just check it out by yourself.
Question.. how can someone ever get used to wp7 lol? Its trash without any functionality and lag of apps, imo. They made a huge step back with this os.
So check out the android nand rom section

So answering your question:
I also always liked to play with apps and so on but all the Androids I've tried then were slow or were crushing or restarting constantly. So I had to find an OS which would never fail me. WP7 showed to be the best one for it. It's the fastest and smoothest OS I've ever tried which never crushes and is unbelievably intuitive. I've never had any problems with it so I just stayed with it.
Anyway, thank you for your answer. Can we play the best 3D games without lags on ICS? Which ICS ROM would you recommend most?
Sincerelly
okey~
ICS is not there yet, would need full Hardware Acceleration to work before it gets into a stable mode.
If you want a no hassle, fast ROM go give cmhtcleo's CM7 nightlies or Tytung's Nexus HD2 (Gingerbread) or Tyween's Typhoon or Dorimanx's light ROM or Hyperdroid or any of the CM7/ AOSP GB ROM a try.
If you are an advanced user go for Dorimanx's Highend ROM - read up properly though.
Both of these configs will run apps and games pretty slickly for a 1GHz 448 MB (user memory) device, and are pretty stable - my phone has been up for 300 hours without a reboot now.
If you want eye candy, Sense
I think Tytung ROM is very smooth for ICS,,,,,,,but for running games without lag, i prefer you running Gingerbread,,,it's stable
Maybe you can try....
I suggest you flash smokin901's MIUI V4 which is superb.

I am i right in thinking that these ICS roms use generic graphic libraries etc etc thus dont take full advantage of the performance of the phone?
So a gingerbread rom like nottachatrix will actually perform better, i know ICS has a different kernel and under the hood changes.
cheers
incorrect.

What? ICS is more powerfull than any blur rom...
way better than GB bro
I am using Kanged CM9 Alpha , and it is very smooth on my Atrix. Problems are camcorder is not working and HDMI out is choppy, but I rarely use these functions so it's ok for me

video playback (HW decoding) and flash player are what's holding me back.
On the rom that you tried, have you tried those functions?
Honestly, if I didn't have a lapdock I would be using jokesax build as my daily driver. It does everything I need it to do smoothly. Only problem is when you plug it in the lapdock, it's just an android tablet with no touch screen. Using that trackpad as your finger is not fun. Otherwise, the CM9 stuff is great.
Okay so the tegra drivers for ICS are present in the CM9 roms or is it some bespoke driver?
H/W decoding and camcorder are what keep me away from the ICS roms atm.
Thanks
Any custom can be good!
Correct me if Im wrong but as far as I can tell the big differences between ICS and GB are seen in stock roms.
And Custom Rom is USUALLY zipaligned, deodexed, converted to ext4.
Sometimes Developers (like notorious) build awesome mix of both, and put in they're own unique tweeks. Notorious's Neutrino 2.6 for instance runs graphics entirely from the GPU among some other tweeks, and you WILL NOT find a smoother faster rom. WILL NOT!
Now the only real ways we have to test out phones "performance" is with benchmarking apps like antutu and quandrant. But honestly their outcomes tend to vary so much, its hard to go by what they say.
But just so everyone knows, my best bechmark "score" on antutu was 7047 with cm7 oc'd to 1.45 (which is gingerbread by the way)
Ive benched every rom from all of Jokers cm9's, to every miui (GB&ICS) as well as all the CM7's and builds based off them (neutrino, morrisoftgen). Even BLUR based roms like dorians redpill and The Darkside by nottich.
All im saying is that I think both builds have the potential to be equally as powerful as the eachother.
PLEASE if Im completly wrong about ANY of this I would like to be corrected, but please make sure its with CORRECT information, lol.
Thanks!
CM9 anTuTu
Also, the best score on antutu ive gotten on any one of the cm9 jokersax builds with faux 1.45 oc kernel was about 6900!
So, so far Custom GB roms are best so far according to benches
I think the gb rooms perform a little bit faster...using cm9 4.0 jokersax and its laggy opening my app drawer and little laggy moments too..cm7 was a little bit faster though imo

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the ICS ROMs still aren't very good with 2D hardware acceleration. And that means 2D is still gonna be slow and jerky.
ICS
I am running with jokersax ics rom, it is great, and the performance is better than the OTA 2.3.5 from Bell.. it took a bit to get the bootloader unlocked, etc.. it seems like I flash roms daily now... Unfortunately, there are still bugs... the most utd rom does not seem to take pictures properly, causes the app to lock up, and the video cam is no usable at all.. :\ I have reverted back to the 0.3.3 rom, and it will take pictures... as far as 2d/3d games are concerned, I play world of goo, hot pursuit, angry birds space and they all run great...
Motorola has ics update in progress as we speak, and they should be rolling out in a couple months, which means any lost code or functions that are n/a now will be rippable from the official... so either way, you can use the ota now or get a taste of ICS with a few problems...
flashing only takes about 5 minutes anyhoo, so its not like you can't switch back and forth....
I find ICS to perform a little quicker, my 2 cents.
Performance
Personally I have used Jokersax's and turl's builds (using turl now, but downloading jokersax 0.4.4 now). Both have really very good performance, especially compared to stock, I would say they outperform it by a long way, but yea, 2D graphics aren't brilliant and the camera was borked (although jokersax has apparently fixed that). I would say definitely change to 4.0.4 just because it is the latest android version and everything about it is soo nice, no blur to bog it down and while I am sure that many 2.3 roms can perform better, sometimes, it is best to choose user experience.
im on turl's latest and find scrolling to be so utterly smooth on ics easily replicating the smooth scrolling experiene on iphone whereas GB always had that slight jittery scroll which always annoyed me. I use apex launcher which i find to be smoother than trebuchet and with that all in all id say performance seems smoother than back on GB
I'm using CM9 both on HPtouchpad and Atrix.
And I can say that Atrix's 2d acceleration is not perfect yet.
It is almost perfect when we scroll lists.
But not when we scroll home screen with wallpaper scroll option.
And some people will think that browser's acceleration is perfect,
but it is not yet when it comes to complex web page.
It can be even more faster. I found that when I used cm9 on hp touchpad.
(Of course, turl and jokersax are doing great job. We have to blame motorola and nvidia )
I find cm9 to work very well, although there are the browser issues mentioned elsewhere.

Hey, I'd just like to know, which rom is the fastest for game like temple run. Is it possuble to play games like that smoothly?
PS:I know, that therr are tons of topics like this, but I think, that they might be outdated. Thanks

Based on guesswork but I would say Dorimanx. CM7, 1.6GHz kernel, zRam etc. so it is possibly the fastest ROM (although I haven't actually used it, but statistically, it should be the best gaming ROM). However, no ROM will be smooth enough for games such as GTA which are extremely high end.
From today fastest ROM for gaming is this ICS CM9 with hardware acceleration
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622788
In nex few days you can expect more ICS roms with Hardware Acceleration.
This roms easily beats any Gingerbread ROM. Im playing ShadowGun completely smooth with no lag. Its impressively fluid. And it was almost unplayable on Gingerbread roms. You can even play Modern Combat 3 on this ROM.
Only problem is there are bugs in this ROM and it still needs development and tweaking. But when its finished it will bring HD2 to completely new level.
i would say dorimax
cm9 beta1 leo +1
Typhoon CM7
Typhoon CM7,the purpose of this build is to port the latest stock CyanogenMod 7 Desire (bravo) base to HD2 with the minimal amount of changes required with no custom apps. Keep in mind that this is my personal build and I am sharing it with you.
