Based on guesswork but I would say Dorimanx. CM7, 1.6GHz kernel, zRam etc. so it is possibly the fastest ROM (although I haven't actually used it, but statistically, it should be the best gaming ROM). However, no ROM will be smooth enough for games such as GTA which are extremely high end.
From today fastest ROM for gaming is this ICS CM9 with hardware acceleration
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622788
In nex few days you can expect more ICS roms with Hardware Acceleration.
This roms easily beats any Gingerbread ROM. Im playing ShadowGun completely smooth with no lag. Its impressively fluid. And it was almost unplayable on Gingerbread roms. You can even play Modern Combat 3 on this ROM.
Only problem is there are bugs in this ROM and it still needs development and tweaking. But when its finished it will bring HD2 to completely new level.
i would say dorimax
cm9 beta1 leo +1
Typhoon CM7
Typhoon CM7,the purpose of this build is to port the latest stock CyanogenMod 7 Desire (bravo) base to HD2 with the minimal amount of changes required with no custom apps. Keep in mind that this is my personal build and I am sharing it with you.

Hello people!
I'm looking for an Android ROM, that would suit my needs.
I want to play 3D games on it, especially Dungeon Hunter II and Asphalt 6. I tried a lot a ROMs, but the gameplay is too laggy on all of them. So my question is: which ROM could run these games with good framerates, without lagging ?
Thank you in advance!

They could be laggy for many reasons not just the rom you are using. You can try installing a App killer which will give you more free ram.
You could also try using Chainfire3D driver from the market which will allow you to change gfx and also enable you to play Tegra 2 and other non-compatible games that are designed for higher powered mobiles/tablets.
If you want to try a slim, fast , stable rom you should install the NexusHD2 rom as its 99% stock Android.
i tried chainfire3D too but it will not help..
i think theres no really rom for dungeon hunter 2 :/
(i want to play this really nice game too )
Why don't you take a look at Frankinstines they are stable and functional

I am using gbx 12 rom and dungeon hunter 2 doesnt lag at all. It plays smoothly. Otherwise, check your default cpu setting. Mine is set by default at 997mhz.
If u r using android on SD then jagauralani's gamer edition is amazing I play asphalt 6 on it smoothly for first time ever, also fifa 10

But look at this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kA1WwUEA9o
he is using TyphooN... an older version, with Tytung r9 kernel... and it runs so smooth for him. I installed that build today (the same one) and it lags like hell. I don't know how he did it ?

Well, he is russian. And that explains alot.
My two favorite roms are :
NexusHD2 - by Tytung
HyperDroid GBX V12 - by Pongster
Both are among the fastest, most smooth and stable roms available.
Overclock ur CPU using SetCPU. And using Typhoon Cyangenomod with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14695842#post14695842 this. More ram .
Strange but that guy in the video has so nice frames/second in the game.. I tried many-many things, but the game is slow for me.. any ideas ?
Bump. Someone ?

Sorry, Dont mean to hijack the thread but I dont have enough posts to make a new one yet..
Looking for a recent rom that I can install using USB flasher in MAGLDR..
I can not use CMR because my SGS2 and 16Gb sdcard got stolen on the way to Lisbon yesterday.
I had my HD2 in my luggage, but no SD ;(
Preferably a non-sense rom that is flashable from my puter.
Again, sorry for the hijack
Where do people get these games Tegra 2, & fifa 10,and Asplaht, I want to get them but never see in the market, would someone send me the apks

So which is the best rom for games? And I do not mean 3D High end ones just games in general
I have a hard time deciding between CM7.1 and Elite Blade.
I can't speak for Elite Blade because I haven't used it, but I'm currently on CM7.1 and all the games I've tried thus far have run smoothly.
Yes, i think that the CM is the best. CM7.1 is smoothly in games.
yeppp cm7 best for games
I just wanted to know 1 good rom for playing hard games like NFS Shift, Modern Combat, Nova etc. To have 1.5 GHz+OC and to be stable and good for everyday use. No sense, better to be version 2.3+ it could be Cyanogen. Thanks.

No ROM will give you a particularly great gaming experience for HD/3D games to be honest. NFS Shift runs alright though, and I'm using Typhoon with the stock kernel. From what I've heard, any CM7 ROM will do fine, but stick with those. Probably Dorimanx as it appears to be the best, but I CBA to flash a new ROM right now
Honestly any and all roms on HD2 aren't going to give you gaming experience that you yearn for. Simple gaming is pie ... Yet, trying to play any game that requires a lot of your hardware will only leave you at best a little disappointed.

As most gamers will know, lots of older HD games have trouble with the latest android versions, so as the title says, which roms, if any, are compatible with the most games? Roms other functions must be stable for daily use

It depends, same rom's may work different on different phones. Games like Asphalt, HAWX, MC3, ShadowGun worked OK on my defy (with CM10, WIUI) but the Assassins Creed FC's after couple of minutes.
Regards,
Thanks, I'm on quarx cm10 which is great but a few of my favorite games don't work, guess that's the game devs fault though as its generally older games
What is the best NativeSD android rom I can use for games ? Currently I'm with Dorimanx high end rom, android 2.3.7 but performance is not good. NFS Most wanted lags badly.
There is no "best rom". And personally I didn't see any difference between NativeSD and NAND. So basically, use any HWA enabled ROM and you should be good to go.
Any ICS or JB rom because of hardware acceleration.
I recommend tytung's cm9 rom, you will gain much in gaming performance, but don't expect any miracles in really demanding games such as new NFS.

Is this the correct rom you were referring to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681906 ? I installed the rom but overall performance - swyping through menus, launching apps and etc. seems slower than dormanx gingerbread. Is this common with ICS roms ? I still haven't tried games.

Marvlesz above me has pointed you to the right direction.
As for the ROM you installed, i don't know, never tried it. You could try both of them to see which one fits you better.
Overall performance between GB and ICS should be pretty close, maybe a bit better on GB builds because it's less resource hungry, but on ICS you get some nice stuff like much better gaming performance, smoother web browsing + more.
Installed it. NFS Most Wanted works full speed now or at least a lot better than gingerbread. But again overall performance is not so good. More waiting for menus to show. Not so fluid. Dormanx rom is more fluid and faster with immediate loadings of every app. isn't it there a similar rom to dorimanx with hwa
There is no HWA on Gingerbread, we are very sorry for your disappointment. However, you may like to have a look at our selection of new devices, which have the fluidity of Gingerbread AND the performance of ICS/Jb.
^That's a joke.
Oh well, no games for me then I'm sure I wouldn't play them anyway but I like everything to work properly on my phone. I reverted back to dorimanx rom, thanks for the advices.
I will look at your selection of new devices probably when Ubuntu for phones is out :
Yeah, I personally also find ICS and above slower for everyday use than GB but I just love web browsing with HWA and the Holo UI of JB (not to mention Google Now) so I don't think I'm going to go back to GB any time soon.
