If you take a look at the attachment you can see what i mean. It doesn't fit the boxes or tables, friends who have other android phones don't seem to have this problem.. Since i'm the only one with a galaxy note i figured let's ask around here
Edit:
stock browser: mobile facebook webpage = excactly the same
Chrome: pictures are way smaller, but the rest is the same
No problem like this with Facebook on my Note. What Firmware/Rom are you on ? DPi?
Sorry forgot to post that
- stock ics rom
- not rooted and no DPI changes
My fb is fine, running XXLQ2 rom.
In my case (stock LPY XEN) I only have the "problem" with images flowing out of the frame. Comment and like icons are fine.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Youve still got the blue texts with like and comment.. Those are just thumbs on my note... Strange
Edit: way cooler picture added, gives a 'special' facebook experience
Don't know about the text and icons not being correct but the images are fine and should look like they are overflowing out of the box.

Then i have to get used to that, but still text? I really dont have a clue
No problems running XXLQ2 rom.
im also facing the same problem with FB, picture exceed th frame.. using stock XXLQ2 rom...
Try friendcaster, its better than the fb app and all the sync works normally...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
well ill be trying that the next days see if i can get used to it, but it sure looks nice thanks
I had all sorts of problems with the current version, 1.9.4.
I rolled back to 1.9.3. and I'm fine.
Sure makes me wish that:
1) you could download previous versions
2) You could flag 'ignore this release' in google play
Friendcaster is real nice, but it can't access everything facebook can.
I use both.
- Frank
I never use the FB app due to experiences in the past , but the mobile webpage looks just fine here (rooted ICS 4.0.3 LPY with stock browser)
edit: installed FB app for a moment and made a screenshot of that as well

I've been looking at some of the custom ROM's and people are talking about getting rid of the nasty "Blur". I'm new to Android and the D2G so I'm not sure what they mean. Is it just the interface for contact info and how it links everything together? If so then what's the big deal? I think its pretty cool to select one contact and see all my info for them pulled in from the different sources instead of having it all over. Or am i missing something?

I am with you. I did not really know what it was until I saw this post and then I Googled it to find out once and for all. I think peoples problem with it being on their phone is that all the updating of the widgets takes battery power and slows down apps that they may be using.
Android system is built to handle multiple apps at once and share the processor. I do not use any elaborate games or other apps that might be slowed down.

yeah who cares? Its 1.2 Ghz! lol. I've never had any problem with speed on it so far and i've loaded it up with apps.
The problem with blur is that it does not work correctly. You may think its great now that it pulls all your data from facebook into your contacts, but you'll soon find that when people update their facebook contacts, it does not reflect in your contacts.
Additionally, blur runs a ton of extra applications and processes in the background, which end up killing the battery.
For me personally, blur interfered with my exchange email. It would cause my email to not notify me of new emails for up to 10 hours at some point, and these were important company emails. I installed Fission rom, which removes blur from the email app, and it instantly started working perfectly.
These among others, are why people have so many problems with blur.

For me, blur is too bulky. When I first got my D2, I noticed that just changing pages on my home screen was laggy and choppy. I have tried both blur free, or very little blur roms and its much much smoother. And with Fission, facebook syncs with all my contacts with no problem.
I do like some of the features of blur though, namely the camera, dailer, contacts app, and music app. Everything else I could live without. Just my opinion.

ah ok. So what do people end up using if they want something like that then? I definitely want something that pulls in from facebook, my ymail, gmail, hotmail, phone contacts, etc... Not sure if there is something else, just wondering.
Blur works for allot of people so don't believe every thing you read.

This is true. Its all about personal preference. If you like blur then your good to go.
Maybe try a blur free rom and see if you like that better.
Sent from my Motorola Droid 2 with Fission 2.4.1
Blur does cause unnecessary lag on the device and eats resources. That why I gave Fission a try and won't go back. Without the Blur my Droid2 looks and feels an awfully like my original Droid and that's a damn good thing.

Just a word of warning: the new Facebook app has some weird display issues on stock JVR, and probably other GB ROMs.
Seems to be related to elastic scrolling. May be different if you use other themes.
I just updated facebook to 1.7.0 on jvr and everything seems ok so far.

Same here. Just updated it and it does not have any display issue so far, everything seems to work as like before. will test further again.
No issues here, running JVR + Galaxian EE.
Is yours crashing to do with the change of scrolling to update the news feed?

No problems here - 3 devices checked. Is this just some spurious unresearched slur because it doesn't work on your phone????
If so, please change thread title to "is new Facebook app working on your GB rom?"

Weird. My buddy has the same problem as me, so I thought for sure it's universal. We're both on a variant of the same ROM though so maybe there is a specific issue to our software...
The problem is when refreshing (via the new pulldown mechanism or the menu) or changing to a different section. The display area essentially gets shrunken to about 1/10th the screen height.
Guess I'll have to do some more investigation. Sorry for the alarm.

Is that stock JVR?
It looks modded to me, or is that just a different launcher you're using?
No problems at all here on JVR odexed simplicity ROM and semaphore 1.6

It's just GO Launcher. Otherwise odexed JVR. Kernel is TalonSH but I flashed to stock for pure curiosity and it didn't fix it, obviously.
This problem is driving me nuts – the only thing I haven't done is a full wipe. I can't believe no one else has the same issue...

Dont worry, you're not insane. Seeing the same issue here. Box-stock JVR.
I just got an update for the facebook app, maybe the problem was more wide-spread.
Even after this morning's update the problem is still there for me.
The weird part is, on the very FIRST run on the app - if you've cleared the data and are signing in - the problem is NOT present on the initial News Feed view.
As soon as I close that view and restart the app, the problem is back.
Facebook App for Android being run on Nexus 7 (bone stock) and Droid Razr Maxx (rooted, stock ICS ROM).
On the 7, it recently started displaying this strange thing where it would should the number of likes in two different fonts in the news feed. Also, I could click to comment on something, but am not able to type in the comment box. Also, I used to be able to see people's timeline when clicking on their profile, and now it has reverted to the old profile display in the Android app (i.e. no cover photo, no buttons to view pictures, about, etc.).
I have cleared the app's cache, the app's data, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app.
The peculiar thing is that the Android FB app works how it should on my Razr Maxx. Shows likes in 1 font, am able to comment on posts, can view timelines on people's profile pages.
Both devices are running the same version of the Android FB app: Ver. 1.9.9
Here are some example pics: First is on the Razr, second is on the 7.
Same here today. Yesterday works fine. I think this happens because facebook is not an android native app, is a parser of html mobile version

Isn't the Facebook-maintained Facebook app always the worst (with a 1-star rating for every two 5-star ratings)? Those issues you're describing are probably app-wide, not just relegated to this tablet.

What I'd like to see is for you to post your reviews/comments comparing 4.2.2 vs 4.3. Tell us what the differences you've seen, the good the bad and so on. If there's a specific app that works awesome now because of the new graphic update, what apps are having issues, etc.. Have you noticed a difference in the pictures taken with the camera. I'd like to see this in here so those that are updating will be able to see what others in the forum are experiencing since their upgrade.
I find that my phone boot faster compared to before, which is always nice. I've taken a few pictures and I see a modest increase in quality and the new menu is easy to use and make sense, style-wise. I've heard some complains about the Netflix app, going black and such, but I've had no issue with this myself. I did have to do a cold boot this morning for some reason but not sure if this can be attributed to the update or not.

I find my phone alot more snappier while opening apps and doing stuff, as if 4.2.2 wasnt snappier enough
The new camera is really good in terms of usage and pictures too i must say...thr use of flash has improved from before
T9 dialer functionality is pretty awesome...and completes the phone app...dont need 3rd party dialer now
All in all, it may not be a big update...but all the things are cool except that mx player pro isnt working, also crashed my apex launcher, rest seems to be working fine
I really wanted the wallpaper displayed on nexus 7 2013...but no luck there..

I've been installing so many Roms to try to remove the scroll lag from facebook, I've turned off scrolling cache, overclocked cpu/gpu the only way i managed to reduce the lag on facebook was to set my governor to 'performance'
So i've finally found a better solution, i've found the archive of facebook apps from the facebook developer site https://developers.facebook.com/docs/android/downloads
Or a direct download to V10 https://developers.facebook.com/resources/Facebook-10.zip
The archive goes back to version 10 and it goes further if you are able to build the app yourself through SDK. I've found V10 is MUCH smoother than the latest version, more than likely because it is a 'lite' version compared to the new version. It doesn't have the in built video player or web browser and probably some other features i'm not aware of yet as i've not used it much yet but thought i'd share in case anyone else is stressing about facebook lag
Please note I did find you need to disable 'Chat Heads' from the messenger app otherwise you will get a glitch. Also there is still some small lag issues but it is massively reduced.
Hit a thanks if you found this useful please
Group of good developers should get together and modify Facebook application. Not only that app needs lots of optimizations but it's design is not quite good. There are a lot of concepts of material designed Facebook app which looks amazing.
Never had never will

I've found that if you use per app profiles and set the governor to 'performance' and set the clock speed to around 1500mhz you get no scrolling lag. I use franco kernel now as i've found it to be fast and the cpu temps are a lot lower than my last kernel.
I use m.facebook.com and the CM Browser. I set CM for full-screen mode and pin the Facebook bookmark to the home screen. It's just like the Facebook app but without the lag or the battery drain. Pretty much perfect.

Yeah I tried that but couldn't find a browser I was happy with that had fullscreen. You should try V13 in the link its the last version that doesn't lag. V16 the next release after V13 has big lag issues. I prefer using the app because of notifications ect..

Uninstall Facebook and WhatsApp ( both Apps are Spyware to me ). I use Facebook inside of Firefox Beta and never had any trouble. There is one downside, you can be socially more active since you´re not online all the time and you also get a way better battery life
