So I installed it yesterday (and thanks to all those who helped).
I think the new ROM is FANTASTIC. Everything works for me, its faster than before and I have no lags. Im using Launcher Pro because the new Blur doesn't support scrolling widgets.
Battery is definitely better (turned on at 6am and had 15% at 6pn which us amazing for me).
Camera has been improved. Pictures look sharper and the colors no longer look weird. I owned an sgs2 and to me the pictures are just as good (and definitely better than the Sensation I owned for a bit). Its also much faster (put it in sport mode and virtually immediate).
Fingerprint reader works. Properly. Period.
Sound on speaker is excellent. Its still the best device on the market.
Sound on earpiece might be a little quieter. I am not certain on this but its something I noticed on my first call.
Gps lock is very quick. It was before too.
Software. Wow what a MASSIVE improvement. Email software is finally useable readable and possibly as good as Sense. Widgets are also better, like weather. Photo software and gallery better. MUSIC is a different application totally. I think I preferred the old one or just need to get used to it. Dialer is improved. Video playback is still great and again an area where this device excels over others I have owned. Animations also very cool. Top bar and notifications simply better than before. Entire color scheme is improved.
Stock keyboard is better but I still make a lot of mistakes when typing. HTC still make the best Android keyboard IMHO and I wish I could port the Sensation keyboard.
Overall its just more elegant and mire pleasurable ti use. For the first time I feel like its a device to show off. I really believe its the best device out there. Had Moto started out with this ROM it would have been considered a device as good as the HD2 in its day.

After one day on gingerbread, I'd have to say the keyboard's the biggest improvement for me. An @ key without having to press alt first? Yes! Long press keys for numbers? Yes!
I agree. It's a fantastic upgrade and the new skin is slick....my only complaint is that homescreen scrolling isn't as fast as I expected. The forest LWP is a little slow, and pinch to zoom on stock camera gallery isn't as good as my previous phone or 3rd party market apps
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
its is an amazing difference
before making the plunge I wud like to know from u guys about the screen gradient issues
is it solved??
like skin tones appeared really odd and washed out
I thot it was a software issue as the screen grabs also showed them on my PC
that was a big gripe for me but for the otherwise near perfect phone
and ya camera quality was also really poor
Are you talking about kenns?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
dunno whom u are asking but am still on froyo
wud love to hear that screen issues are solved
leaving aside the pentile issue as SGS also has pentile but looked better
Battery life is the biggest improvement forvmr

I freakin love the new ROM. Thanks KP!
They have made a smart move by selecting a color scheme that greatly reduces the effect of the inherent technical limitations of a Pentile LCD! Its better than Froyo but I guess only because of the color scheme they have decided to go with!

Even if the color scheme didnt change its 10 times better. Im tired of the complaints about the phone, go get a different one and/or dont complain about this one. We dont care to hear it.
Loving the new rom so far. I do think the cardock app got worse (looks better, but fewer custom buttons). I love how you can uninstall apps using a long press from the app drawer.
I'm also looking forward to trying the ignore call, respond with text option.
Last thing, wish the default music app worked with Google Music Beta... installed the Google one instead.

Overall, this seems to be working pretty fantastically for me except for a few things.
- Contact List can get REALLY slow sometimes. (15 seconds to load up a contact's information!)
- Unlocking (the screen, not the phone) can get slow, as well as Facebook and a few other apps. Haven't fully tested yet.
Is this happening to anyone else?
So far, i'm loving the new blur, everything is working fine for me.but i hope this is not the final blur version, because i was watching a demo of blur for droid3 on youtube it looks a little bit better then this. The swipe between screens was different and the quick contact widget was different and more useful.
are you sure about the battery life part.. i got a bad battery life thats the reason why i flashed it back to froyo 2.2.2 ( 1.83 sbf ) .. if you are also using kenneth's beta release >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159385
and if u also talking abotu kenneth's beta one. fingerprint reader doesn't work for me

You only hard brick if you try to do the OTA. If you use kennethpenn's method using CWM with an unlocked bootloader you'll have no problem.

Most of the things you said is right.
Only thing i don't agree is wirelless signal strenght.I had very good results on cm7.
Also i think cm is not for everyday use.

Do you complain about 720p recording on CM and now you use a BM kernel?
Now, seriously, I get your point, and in fact I came back to JVT because of most of the reasons that you don´t use CM.
Anyway I must say that CM team is making a great work, and they have all my respect.
I'm really enjoying using MintBerry MIUI at the minute. Wouldn't think of going back to anything else other than back to CyanogenMod.

Never had any fc on system apps.
Market is buggy app from begining so it's not relevant to talk about it.
Yes i miss also good video recording butt for my need it's ok.
Video playback can be solved with good video player.
Battery life pretty much the same on every rom depends how u use it.
I'm big fan of stock roms and specialy semaphore kernel, butt sometimes you have to try something else and help people to make things better.

I don't record 720p. I'm a heavy gamer. So flashed bigmem. But if I want sgs kernel flasher is 1 click away from me. (Still I can play 720p)

OK, do tell us now why you don't use symbian and your dislike for iOS or maybe even WP. And than tell us about why you don't use other stock.zip roms and make sure you do the same about every custom kernel as well.
What is the point of this thread? You left enough silly posts on CM thread already. Why would one care about u not using CM7.

Sounds like you hate CM7. Although I'll just take your post as an informative reminder for people debating on whether to jump from stock to CM7.
Much like stock, CM7 isn't perfect. Whichever benefits you more, choose it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of CM7. Just keep in mind that Android is all about choices.
It's a good guess that Samsung won't update our phones to ICS, so sooner or later if you want to stay up to date you will have to use CM.

I can do this. There is no reason for don't do. (WTF is iOS?) Because I'm not a fan boy. But take a look. On CM thread the fanboys avoiding real bugs. Accelerometer sensor is not only one. Their sensors are not good too. But they says my screen turns well. WTF. How can you understand accuary of that sensors turning screen 270 degrees! I follow cyanogen by nightly 28. Now thats 18x. Main reason is samsung. I know all will be fixed on cm9. But that is that on this time.

While i agree that the content of this thread started by being kind of useless, people may take this as reference. With that in mind i'll add my personal experience to OP's arguments. I am assuming the latest stable CM release for this which is what i use daily since it came out. Pointing out bugs or stuff failing in nightlies is totally pointless, after all.
I have to use a custom kernel. Because 3D performance is so poor on stock cm kernel.

-Yaffs2 is so corruptable.
> i had this as not being true. Think i've seen somewhere people saying there was no trouble with this file system. According to YAFFS's website
(http://yaffs.net/yaffs-nand-specific-flash-file-system-introductory-article)
"YAFFS uses journaling, error correction and verification techniques tuned to the way NAND typically fails, to enhance robustness."
So, if it's a filesystem using journaling, it has a way of reducing a chance of data corruption like the alternatives. Not sure about other differences between FS's but i've read this is what people deem as acceptable for data loss prevention.
Also, i've yet to experience data loss.
-No TV-Out because of samsung source codes.
> indeed. If this is a must have then it's a deal breaker. Although i'm yet to see anyone around me having a SGS that would actually use it's tv-out features. Never even seen on sale the specific tvout cable this phone uses in my country.
-With stock samsung camera app we have panaroma mode. Which is a new feature of new ics. We have it since eclair.
> True story. But that's easy to overcome. Just get an app from market like photaf.
-Even no world clock or timer on aosp. We have smart alarm with stock.
> Again, loads of apps on market, just pick your poison.
-I have to flash gapps.
> You gave yourself the trouble to replace a whole system. That's far more trouble than flashing a simple package. Takes just a few seconds to do it. And most you can get from market too.
-I have to flash radio. (JVK is not good for me.)
> If your stock rom doesn't bring the one that works for you you'd have to flash it anyway. It's quite fast too as modems are really small.
-Compass is not good. And gps too.
> Yea, i've seen some people saying this as well. I downloaded "Compass" from market and tried it out in several places comparing to a real one. Didn't make much difference so i'm assuming it's working correctly. GPS is a worn out subject. never really worked for me, no matter what rom i used.
-No hardware acceleration. Browser is laggy. Flash items too.
> I'm not even sure if any rom actually used hardware acceleration for browsing. First time i've heard about doing it was ICS. I did hear people saying something about browser being laggy if it was deodexed and if some compiler (not sure) was being used. But to be honest i've never used the default browser. Always been with opera mobile (it's important being the mobile and not mini). No lag whatsoever. Flash does stutter for a micro second while loading but it does play well and lag free after that. But this is flash we're talking about, it's heavy by nature.
-There is no real hapctic feedback.
> Not sure what you mean. Settings -> Sound settings -> Haptic feedback (last setting on the bottom). Don't like it but just tried it and it works.
-Accelerometer is laggy. Because of libs.
> Another one i've seen some people saying. Works great here i can play games like abduction and labyrinth perfectly. Also downloaded "Accelerometer" from market and it seems to be working fine.
-Battery life is still not much.
> Depends on how much you use it. Lasts easily a day with a few phone calls, loads of text messages, around 4 hours/day of screen on, always with wireless on. Got home at the end of the day and still had around 40%. More than a day is unrealistic, most likely i'd just end up having enough power for half a day if i don't charge overnight. While we're at it, CM doesn't have that dealbreaking bug that can be found on stock roms that makes your phone start using battery when it gets charged to 100% causing massive battery drops when the charger is unplugged. I actually downgraded to froyo just to prevent that.
-Touchwiz calendar and clock is great. Also I like tw keyboard launcher and great sns feature.
> i'm not sure what to say here. If it's touchwiz laucher you're missing you can just download it from the applications section here in XDA. Calendar and clocks have better alternatives from market anyway and i always replace the stock sms app with handcent or GO SMS pro.
-720p video recording + playing = choppy.
> i go to lots of concerts. Always record about half of it on the best resolution the phone has. No issues. Likewise for reproducing them later. Actually, video usually comes out better on dark places than photos.
-Touch pointer can't stand fast moves. Open multitouch test and move your finger a bit fast. Pointer will come after your finger. A bit laggy.
> I used a real case instead. Opened a multitouch keyboard (gingerbread), held my left index finger on shift and my right index finger swiping on the rest of the keyboard. Wasn't laggy at all, letter preview shows up instantly as soon as i go from one letter to another.
-Wireless signal is so poor. I can't connect in my room. (I write this from my room now. Stock JVT.)
> That's just your modem though and you can replace it for whatever works best for you. CM's stock (JVK) gives me the same results as any other modem i used. Always found it a very decent range as i can pick networks from neighbors even 2 apartments away.
-Provider can't understand your phone model so you must set your apns yourself.
> Mine did. I was kind of surprised it did actually, since i'm from portugal. Didn't need to set anything up, just worked.
-I can't see some apps on market with market enabler. I can with stock.
> Not sure how to test this. Can you tell of an app you can't see so i can try it out?
-I have to flash every nightly for a reason. And all needs fix some permissions..
> You don't have to flash them every night. It is actually unadvisable to do so since they are experimental and may screw up something with your phone. Just stick with the stable and if you feel you need to update it, read reviews about what your're flashing carefully first.
-People says you don't have to calibrate battery after every nightly. But cwm uncalibrating battery as hell already.
> You may have been reading the wrong stuff. You calibrate your battery after flashing a new rom. That's it. Poor battery performance is expected after that but evens out after a few charges. And again, you don't really need to flash all those nightlies. Just think about CM as any other rom. Others don't have updates every night either, you just flash it and be done with. Just do the same with CM.

I stopped using it for a simple reason, I kept having issues with voice calls where the other party could not hear me. That was a deal breaker, as my phone is first and foremost a work tool and I cannot afford an unreliable phone

We have hw acceleration with touchwiz browser. Amazingly smooth flash and scrolling.
Accelerometer is not smooth like stock.
Wireless signal depends on kernel not modem. Drivers are there.
You can't even just open dungeon defenders to play. As a 3D game.
Yesterday I have 7 hours screen on with stock. 3g off I have great uv.
For market look gameloft games. Gt racing for example.
3rd party clock and calendar hooks up my small ram. And so cheap quality on market.
Where can I download TW3 for cm7? I tried one and it lags like mad. Because no hw acceleration.
Hapctic feedback is not full. Compare the solo lite app from market with stock.

You're right about the wireless drivers being on the kernel. But as i said, CM's stock works great for me.
Not sure what you meant with those 7h of screen... I mentioned my usage, not the limit on how much would my battery last if i had the screen on all the time.
You are right about gameloft games. But there are 2 very simple solutions to that: just get it from android market's website or replace your build.prop with the one on this thread:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/33366-gameloft-games-not-showing-in-market/
I've seen a Touchwiz 4.5 app on the app section. Not sure specifically about TW3. I used 4.5 once on some other rom and liked it very much. But still not good enough for me to change from Go luncher and all those Go widgets though.
About hardware accelerated stuff, glad you found whatever works for you, the whole point of my answer wasn't proving you wrong, just telling people that other people have experienced differently in most of those points you were complaining.
Tweeted here and MD5 here. From a full wipe, I had a really smooth install.
Youtube is working great on wifi and works on 3g as long as I check "high quality on mobile" in the settings, otherwise I was getting the choppy video issues.
No changes to the cam and Flash still does not work as far as I can tell, ie. opening the flash app results in a blank page, and there is a blank space where the movie should be on Adobe's version checker page. No missing plugin icon, but its not functioning.
Still sound but no video on Netflix.
I just installed preview 5 two days ago and it's been running very smoothly thus far, only one reboot. Any significant changes you've noticed in p6 that would be worth wiping p5 for?

Well, you can modify what apps are shown on the lockscreen. I wish there was a changelog so you could see what was added.
Other than the baked in Exchange apk fix and the additional lock screen customization, I've not seen a great deal of difference yet. Hard to tell since they don't have changelogs for the previews. If you're happy with 5 I'd probably stick with 5 for now.
As a side note, I've had a couple of random reboots today and I had some weird issues with the launcher right after I installed Swiftkey X.
Also, really have to recommend Nova launcher. Flashed that over p6 a few hours ago and I'm loving this thing.

As a side note, I've had a couple of random reboots today and I had some weird issues with the launcher right after I installed Swiftkey X.
Also, really have to recommend Nova launcher. Flashed that over p6 a few hours ago and I'm loving this thing.

Yeah, loving Nova Launcher on my ICS Gnex. The ability to restore homescreens is really nice.
I guess this is a little off topic but: Anyone know why it's so difficult to get the camcorder working? I'm a complete noob when it comes to Linux but is there that much difference between GB and ICS?

I'm no expert either, however I know the issue with getting the camera to work initially had to due with getting the drivers working in ICS (and there being no source for the drivers). I don't know how they got working camera drivers to begin with, but I'd only assume that the camcorder functionality needs a separate driver, or the current driver does not have camcorder support.
Whatever the source of the difficulty, a dev tweet has indicated a working camcorder in the next preview build. Glad to see progress being made, ICS has made me feel like I don't really need to spend money on an upgrade yet.

Indeed. P7 is up now and it has early camcorder support. I'm sure it will improve as time goes on, but it's a start for those who need it!

Many apps haven't received ICS compatibility updates yet since there is only one phone that officially has it. It will probably be hit and miss for a while.
That said, Netflix and Flash are both ICS compatible, but don't work properly on any of the dinc roms I've tried.
Has anyone tried getting the numpad to display when using the phone? I dialed 8228 to update roaming capabilities, when the option said press 2 I could not get the numpad up to press it.
Try downloading Ex Dialer from the market and set it as default.
This is my go-to app for AOSP and faulty dialing ROMs, see if it works for you.
Ok so for those that have been able to upgrade to ICS (P6800 owners) what are your toughts?
Now this is what i am looking for:
A) What you like
B) Don't like
C) What would you like to have seen included but wasn't (if anything)
And since having the update what are you looking forward to doing that you couldn't or wouldn't with HC.
Please don't post any issues you have after updating, that is not what this post is intended for.

Well i don't think that i don't like anything but i haven't really found something that is faulty. It is definitely faster as i immediately noticed that it took less ram, than honey comb, to run. Feels pretty fast with go launcher HD to me and i love it completely. Although i thought that there would be camera improvements as tab 2 7.0 has the same 3 mega pixel camera but does 1080p recording. So i thought that it might be done with tab 7.7 as well with an ics upgrade.

Yea 1080p would have been a nice addition, but 720p is still good.

Well I love it to and made it up with Samsung:
- first with ICS that tablet really rocks it already did but now it's almost perfect
- smoother faster it seems especially the OOM killer seems more smart, and less memory used it seems
- no more problem with Itap rdp right click with bt mouse
- something I never mentioned. : I developed or try to develop a clone of pronto remote and debug using adb wireless
With HC I could not connect via adb on the computer using ethernet to adb wireless wifi due to packet loss... So had to disable ethernet and enable wifi. With ics no longer this issue...
- I used to have frequent sleep of death for the moment none
- I listen radio everyday through tunein somehow at around 1pm HC always rebooted by itself. Never bothered to figure out why... Now this no longer happen...
- no wifi issue ( some ICS user reported problems). I never had neither with HC except sleep of death or reboot that might be related to wifi?. I use Friztbox 7340 AP.
- my 100+ aps. Seems to all works (of course did not test deeply since yesterday) except gmd gesture control to hide the control bar
-once in a while but quite frequently using HC my EXCHANGE account would vanish...had to re-create every time... waiting to see on this one...Could be my remote application leaking....
So all in all very very happy with this tab and Samsung... Patience was what I missed
- I did wipe and did not have any problem if we refer to brick bug... But you never know...
What I like less
- dialog box theme gray without frame around
- it seems Samy addressed bur-in doing the bar black now....
I preferred it before and I don't have noticeable burn-in ( since march and extensive uses) except using color filter and brightness turned all down then I see slight yellow discoloration... Nothing to complain for me as the TAB HW screen etc are just so great IMO and outweight for me this small detail.
Seriously the TAB rocks for me...
Can you imagine 7.7 with quad core and dream about a 1080p SAMOLED display in a 7'7 TAB for me the perfect size!
I guess I continue buying Samsung.... Despite some of my previous comments... Waiting for the ICS on 8.9 now for my girl friend
Thanks and cheers
A now happy again Samsun tab 7.7 user

My first impression
i installed the firmware through odin. it was not available on kies. so if i have to claim warranty ( god forbid ) then i guess i have to flash my country's HC firmware back
what i liked is that it is noticibly faster than HC. Apps load faster. lag is less. starting button lag is less. there have been no FC's and almost all of my games are compatible.
what i dislike or rather disappointed is that it does not look or feel much different than HC. no added functionality except Face unlock. what i would have liked is some features of S3.
i am running this for almost 24 hrs now. battery usage is same as HC.
I like that this device is actually usable now. I think I'm going to use it as my main tablet now. I didn't use it with HC because it was just so slow compared to my gt8.9 (running ICS rom).
My first impression: TouchWiz seems much smoother, Go Launcher HD feels the same. Under heavy usage of widgets TouchWiz is still great but Go Launcher HD not. I do love some Go Launcher features so I played around a lot and also tested the new 1.11 beta. But is still less responsive.
It's like a faulty motherboard replaced by a newer and faster one.
Seriously, like a new device, snappy, responsive, seems less battery hungry.
There is one 'custom rom" available, where EDaN has deodexed and removed some bloatware. I took that rom and took out everything social, photo and video editor, and some other minor crap.
Having 60 apps installed and tested it's like Christmas.
- dislike
had to discover I must install busybox to get Titanium working
had to install supersu myself, no biggy
no software based CWM, havent found compatible one, but one thats reboots to recovery anyway.
No powermenu at powerbutton
ugly blueish tint around quickmenu (with shortcuts for bt.wifi etc)
This all will be fixed when chefs get source or get impatient and offer CWM zips
Chainfire3d night mode seems to be not working...

my only gripe so far is that if you increase the font size to Large, some apps (mostly system apps) seem to have the font go to 'super large' e.g. google play, settings menu, whilst some apps its perfect.
Conversely, going down to medium, most apps are back to Honeycomb tiny font problem, whilst the system apps are fine
Seems like Sammy tweaked the touchwiz stock UI to display fine on medium size, without thinking that 'hey most apps the user will be using needs it set to large hmmmm'. Hoping AOSP ROMs will get around this issue
The tab is more responsive overall. Feels like a new device. But still not loving touchwiz--wish this is a pure Google device. Installing Nova Launcher partially fixes that. Only app not working out well so far is Battery Monitor Widget Pro--the mA usage keeps showing "0". Just about everything else survived the upgrade with no issues.
Add: mA information in Battery monitor widget works is set to "estimation" rather than automatic. So that problem is solved...
I never used tw always adw launcher ex on this device, everything is smoother with ics now we just need some custom roms and kernels so it can catch up to my galaxy note and asus prime
Anyone notice the clipboard function is gone?
In HC, when ublong tap to paste, there are 2 options to choose, PASTE & CLIPBIARD.
in ICS, there's only PASTE.

It only seems to work with the Samsung keyboard. I thought that was also the case in 3.2?
I'm truly loving this tab with ICS. One huge problem is with my WiFi. I experienced once again as it just disconnected and never connected again until I shut it down completely and turned it back on. Logged onto another AP. I hate this problem as I thought I had fixed it. It seems like the WiFi module is overheated and shutdown or something....*SIGH*
when browsing, going back to the previous tabs is still being reloaded. That is my only gripe so far.
Other than that, everything is smoothhhhhh...
I agree. Smooth interface. :-D

Impressions.
It's good stuff!
First: Hotmail seems to be staying put. Had big bothers with this as account would dissapear from tab. Seems to be fixed now, but need more time.
Second: SD Card behaving. Sweet.
Third: No waiting around for unlock screen to pop up when power button pressed. WTF was that anyway?
Fourth: Swype behaving itself. Kept on getting beeps before, and i would have to change to Samkey and back to swype. One crash so far in google translate.
Fifth: Browser no longer reloading all the time to homepage. seems more stable.
Sixth: Youtube actually responds when choosing a vid. If you hit back before and chose another, it was no longer responsive.
Seventh: AR much more responsive. 1sec response time. instead of 3-4. Overall response time much boosted. Has crossed the line from WTF? to hey... Sweet!
0'ed: Sammy did our super bloody expensive tab first. THANK YOU!
PS: flashed XL4 (United Arab Emirates) with Austrian version.(ODIN 1.85) Not a problem. Did Full Reset before flashing though. All went smooth. Im a very happy camper! Hope i could help.
Hi
Before I take the plunge along with many others
Can anybody who has updated to 4.4 with the official LG update give there view on Pros and cons of the update
A reading a few its not much faster and no extras !
eg) Faster ? Dim Screen Problem ? Extra Apps?
I like
Generally I think it is a bit smoother and generally everything is running better for me some apps like mxplayer no like kitkat but the stock is fine until they update. Do not update if you want to be able to switch between roms, tried to reinstall cwm/twrp and for me gets stuck in fastboot so you will need to be patient till they find a new exploit. New keyboard in black is pretty awesome and transparent bars definitly refine the look as well as the white notification icons. Couple new lg apps like On screen phone so can control on pc and copy files etc pretty cool but I think its novelty value.

If you are not intending on going aosp it is definitely worth the upgrade as you should see apps running better because of the way kitkat uses the ram, I have to say even though not a huge difference in UI it definitely is better optimized and using less ram for the system. Definitely if you can get 4.4.2 do it, if you choose to stay lg stock I would suggest you install xposed framework and change it how you want to be :victory:

I've read some accounts that MXPlayer had some Kitkat problems a few months ago, but they were supposed to have been fixed back in December. I'm not seeing problems at all. You might want to try re-installing MXPlayer to see if that fixes it for you.

I switched to BS Player Free as my standard video player as I have long felt it to be the better choice.
Lastpass!
Lastpass Premium users will love the upgrade. The Lastpass app can natively fill in usernames and passwords on websites in Chrome, without having to activate the Lastpass input method. It just detects the login page, pops up a prompt, and you hit yes to log in. Fantastic.
Aside from that, it seems smoother. When you swipe down the notification menu, the settings button is in the corner where it should be, so that's nice. Oh, and the LG keyboard (which I love to bits) now has a bunch of themes. There's a chance that I just didn't notice them before the update.
Basically, I've had no problems at all, and a bunch of apps are now able to make use of Kitkat features. It's not so much "why would I upgrade?" as "why on Earth wouldn't I upgrade?"

I like bsplayer but the ac3 issue the player during the codec dispute leans me toward the stock player. I use bsplayer as my backup player for troubled files.
One issue I've run into with 4.4 build 20a are phantom screen presses when turning on the screen again after not using the g pad for a bit. I usually just urn off the screen for 5 seconds and then turn it back off and everything is working again. I should add I did a dirty install over 4.2.2 to 4.4.2, so chances are a wipe of the data would fix it. I'm going to do the 2 cache wipes and see if I get the problem again. I'm posting this here to see if anyone else has the problem.

Was it really broken to begin with? I found that once you got used to knocking at the right place with the right force applied, it works almost all the time. The KK update seems not to change much, if anything about this.
Now, for some reason KK has been causing the stock video player to skip and hold frames much more than usual. I use it to play videos out via slimport a lot, and after the update a simple .mp4 was skipping forward several seconds on video, until the audio caught up. Must be some sort of memory leak, but any thoughts on what can be done? Is it possible to de-install and then reinstall the stock player without factory reset?
MX Player was my go-to before and it still works. I'd switched to the stock because I don't like the ads in the free version of MX, but danged if it isn't one of the best stock players around.
Mark
Maybe because I had the G2 to compare it against, but after KK my G2 would immediately turn on first time nearly every time. My GPad still takes 3-5 tries even after KK.
The way I solved the issue with knock on/off is I knock three times instead of two.
Can't copy files to SD card since upgrading to 4.4.2.

For me, 4.4.2 seems a little smoother and faster. I was using Nova Launcher because the LG launcher seemed a bit less fluid. It is much better now. Nova is still smoother doing some things but not enough for me to feel I have to keep using it. I have gone back to using the stock launcher.
Other than that, not a big deal although I didn't expect it to be. It is not a huge Android update update. 4.4 is mostly just smoother.

I agree everything seems smoother and faster, web browsing is definitely faster, I don't notice any real difference with the screen brightness but I never really had a problem with my screen. For my use not much of a difference from 4.2.2 but overall I am happy with the improvements Kit Kat adds to the GPad.
