Looks like Huawei is getting ICS on U8800, at least on the PRO variant. Maybe our U8800's get lucky too
We are happy to announce that we will be rolling out the demo version of ICS Android 4.0 through Q2 and Q3, starting with the Honor U8860. Please note that the ICS upgrade is a demo version and therefore may have limitations. The U8800Pro and Huawei Honor C8860E will also receive an ICS demo upgrade later this quarter. The Huawei Mercury M866, Huawei Honor U8860-51 and Huawei G300 will receive the ICS demo upgrade in Q3

from this ridiculous brand experience... official roms are the most idiotic stuff we can make pin our phones...

I have many doubts that huawei might make ics for U8800.
I think th e most important thing is drivers and kernel, maybe it is better than .35 and DZO can take advantage of some binaries to improve Aurora overall experience.
But sucks when come to updates, so It's a bit of futurology. They only talk about U8800 PRO, they are pretty capable of leaving regular U8800 users in the shade.

well who can say that they did not aqcuired DZO's ICS and tried to "create" a new "ORIGINAL" huawei ICS ????
imagine this: huawei releases the ICS, DZO tries to improve it and then realizes that the "official" one is actually based on his ROM
lool it would at least funny and weird
Blefish's cm9 is stable when (if) Huawei releases ICS for u8800.

I hope they do release it though, I mean we can hope...NOT
If our device well receive ICS three well be a chance that we'll get official MIUIv4. It's one of conditions for it. On other side if dzo's Aurora well be stable enough maybe (I'm not sure, but hope it is) we'll get MIUIv4. I think MIUI is best ROM for Android and I want its v4.
P.S.: We still don't have official stable 2.3. I don't think we'll get official 4.0

If someone could tweak exposure compensation, making a high limit near 0, we would record at night with much more fps and took photos without blurr.
for example, try to select the ACTION scene on ICS camera apk, you'll see a dark image but not fps drop.
too bad we don't have any SCENE option on camcoder
Unfortunately, Huawei ROM's tend to be a bit bloated than Dzo's (Thank you Dzo!), and the Aurora ROM is pretty damn cool to use.
I do agree that he should be paid by Huawei to make their official ROM for them, if he is up for it of course
Before, when my Mum got the phone, it was freezing a lot. This was on gingerbread. I upgraded it to the Aurora ROM and no freezing. It's just generally a lot better to work with

Hi!
I thought I would create a CyanogenMod 9 discussion thread because I know some of us wants it soon
So this thread could discuss anything from features to wallpapers. Anything really I guess.
It can be really nice to talk about it and because I love CyanogenMod I would love to discuss this with some people
Just remember to keep the thread clean

It just seems strange for them that they're taking so long... No doubt they'll release one of the best roms when it's finished. Until then I'm keeping my eye at Virtuous. ^^
Btw, is it just me or have you guys also noticed devs are slowly leaving the DHD behind? Seems that they're moving on to the Sensation family, and the soon to be released One series are only going to add up to that I suppose. Sad.

They will definitely have the best rom! I mean they have done things much more efficient this time.
Well it's natural for devs to move on to newer devices, unfortunately it's sad for us
when does come the first nightly for desire hd?

im still under no illusion that the sensation is crap,i test run the xe and the xl..i see no difference, but im no gamer, they have more roms due to newer device but i had no urge to upgrade to either as i normally do,the ville i will due to it looks nice, ics is onboard and sense 4..if it didnt that already i probably wouldnt get it?
i dont think devs are leaving, its just natural progression i think..this forum compared to the desire for example i used to use...is quite stressful..i dont know why, even i get hacked off.with myself and others. shame is..the desire hd is a quality phone, its reliable...looks nice.
my next roms will be ics when its complete and ics with sense 4..ill try out sense 3.6 with ics but cant see me warming to it..
as for cm9 unless it has bells and whistles i probably wont care when it arrives..
CM always has bells & whistles. Its like specifying all the optional extras when buying a car.
I'm waiting for the rumored HTC Zeta. 2.5Ghz Quadcore. That + CM9/10 will last a few years, just like the DHD has & will continue to do.

Yeah the DHD has taken its stand! It is a good phone for sure and since google always is trying to make their rom lightweight I think the DHD can last for long!

It is a bit "square", but as you can tell from the homescreen I posted, I much prefer function over style.
From its rumoured specs, 2.5Ghz Quadcore, 32GB storage, 1GB RAM, WXGA (1280x720) display. It would be more than capable of holding it's own in a smartphone market that progresses very quickly. Perfect for a handset that's worth keeping for a few years (i.e DHD) & perfect for CM9/10 & 11
the specs do look good, ill probably still go on and get the ville or endeavour...more the ville though,in a way I hope some development release an asop. to run on these devices just in case sense 4 hasn't really went far...I'm liking asop roms more and more recently, rcmix 4.0 is a great rom but drains my battery up way to quick, now I'm running absolution which is giving me roughly a day and a half..it is undervolted by preference..not sure if that makes a massive difference though lol
the zeta as you said looks quality, just design wise...think its a case of looking at it in reality..pictures don't give justice on occasions
Sent from Absolution 3.7 with ics waiting under the wings
The image on gsmarena doesn't do it much justice I admit.

This gives a better appreciation of the shape.
CyanogenMod is such a versatile ROM, you can theme it to your hearts content or leave it bare. Underclock it to get the best battery life or overclock it to cook food off of.
IMO CM9 will really expand upon the best core features of ICS, the future of android is bright.
It's a fake foto 'cause as we all know ACS needs only 3 buttons. I don't think such a powerfull phone will be released with 2.3.x Android. So it's a fake

My experience with Aurora is not at all bad. It is fast and mostly stable, but you will certainly find it slower than cm7 or stock for example. But there are no major bugs, only small annoyances from time to time. The only reason I'm not using it is low volume while playing music or videos with headphones. That's why I use a 32 kernel based ROM (in my case, Ezet cm 7.2). ROMs based in .32 kernel don't have any of the issues that the very poor work Huawei did with .35 kernel...

My experience with the rom has been nothing but a joy and fjsferreira is right - there are a few bugs but they are very minor. However some other users are having problems with the wifi.
I think best would be for yourself to try it, and if it doesn't work the way you want it to you can always revert back to what you're using now.

Is anyone else becoming increasingly concerned there hasn't been many leaks?
By now I would have expected quite a few more leaks, but there hasn't even been a whisper of another one...
not at all, i would rather stick to a stable GB rom than use the buggy ics leaks
people seem to think ics is magically gonna transform the device...
ICS certainly transforms the device. Going back to Gingerbread from ICS makes you realize how inadequate the former is for such a wonderful device. ICS is silky smooth while Gingerbread feels like watching stop-motion photography. Livewings did such a good job ironing out some of the kinks in the ICS leak that it has become my everyday rom. You couldn't pay me to go back to Gingerbread.
+1 on this.
If you try a ICS build in your Note, and if you can flashe it without getting FC´s and some other errors, you never want to came back to GB again, because the speed and usability is just in another level.
I don't know why there is only one leaked ICS rom for the Note.
It's very strange when we see the SII with many leaked ICS roms and other devices too, but not the Note.
Is the ICS Rom for the Note the biggest secret Rom from Samsung?
The awesome thing is that all leaks are running at 1.2GHz CPU speed and the real one will use 1.4, so it will be even faster!

Personally I've found the relative regularity of frequency of Leaks to indicate solid Dev work..
I feel that the fact that we've had one buggy release, a blown out release date and now "promised' extras make me think that they're not getting much Dev done.
Its common practice to promise more when you've missed your promised release date, in an attempt to "curry favour" with the disaffected customers.

This thread discussion is going to be continued in the new Sticky Thread JellyBean Ota
-----THREAD CLOSED-----
Google has inadvertently confirmed that the next version of Android will be called “Jelly Bean” and that it will appear in the new Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ phone.
hough the report lists Jelly Bean as “Android 4.1,” other rumors have said that’s the code-name for Android 5.0. Google is said to be switching strategies for Jelly Bean, allowing multiple manufacturers early access to the OS. Previously, Google had partnered with a single manufacturer to provide a “reference” for other models.
More details about Jelly Bean will likely be announced at Google I/O, the developers’ conference, next week in San Francisco.

we will surely get it on ours notes, hope not so late
Let's see if it is a "new" android version or an enhanced version of ICS (that was an enhanced version of GB)....
Looked around but couldn't find the hardware specs it needs, will the note (still) be able to handle this ??
I know that there are going to be devs playing around with it but if it comes out "original" it will be more reliable in the earlier versions.
Wait and see, i think.

Hardly even that. Really disappointed in ICS, not many reasons to upgrade from GB.

Galaxy Note didn't even get ICS in my opinion, though they label it ICS it is a premium suite as they say, so Note didn't get ICS just got a premium suite which is a faint resemblence to ICS but carries a ton of bugs and issues that can be avoided by not upgrading. Its good to see a new version already coming out and hopefully (fingers crossed) Samsung grabs this chance to fix thier mistake that is ICS for the Galaxy Note

Since it's Android 4.1 and not 5.0 it clearly means it's a minor upgrade ( meaning that it's "enchenced ICS" ).
I don't see why we wouldn't get it since the current Nexus device has even weaker hardware than Note. The only reason there might be for not getting it - is Samsung's policy. But there's always Cyanogenmod.

Totally agree.
When I first took a look at what Samsung did to ICS with their amazing premium suite i was like are we still running GB or is that a kind of joke.
I'm really disappointed by Samsung updates that also take too long to be released.
I just hope this time Samsung will release a real update with great UI and not that TW crap again.
JB is announced... It seems to improve performance a lot, so Xperia Play will run it better than ICS...
any one dares to make a port (please)?
Will Jellybean be available officially from Sony for the Xperia Play ?
Our play has been ditched by Sony

google announced jb today so it can take about 1 Jear until Sony says something about it.
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_16gb
Who wants one?!
EDIT: Also, it says Jellybean supports BRAIL ?
How would that be possible?
Did google say anything about the source code yet? Did cyanogenmod made a statement?
Hahaha even Google is trolling with our xperia play

It's not about running it better than ICS, it's about game compatibility with the touchpads and the overall gaming experience compared to Gingerbread.
Hence why they didn't update to ICS in the first place, It's extremely unlikely that we will get Jelly Bean or anything else as a matter of fact tbh. The only way we can get Jelly Bean is by porting but gaming will always be a problem with roms from ICS onwards.

Don't waste your breath. There are tons of threads started about ICS and people try telling them that it has to do with the gaming aspect, not the specs. They won't listen.

I agree that there's so many useless threads which have been created over and over again with people moaning even though its for their own good. Then they wonder why the get insulted and called noobs etc.
Plus some people on this forum are so ungrateful to what we devs give to them and just always complain, You can never win with some people hence why I stopped developing my ICS Rom further with constant posts saying touchpads aren't working blahblah..

There is a 99.9% chance we're not going to get this officially from Sony, on the other hand there is a 0.1% chance we May get it!
Sony got to throw resources into this porting effort

Yeah, I would agree with your point, ICS performance-wise is no doubt far better than Gingerbread (not to mention Jelly Bean), but I don't see it in the last ICS Beta on my Xperia Play ... the reason being ... may be lack of good driver support, if there's no official driver support, and Sony just expect hack work from the XDA community can resolve this issue they are too cheap-skate ... no offends, I think the open-source initiative is pure good, but official support is crucial too ...

see lol this why you shouldn't go on XDA at stupid times. You end up trying to correct someone who is right with a wrong answer.
