What it took to get my note.... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Thought I would share my tale of win when getting my galaxy note. Slight wall of text but worth it.
my t-moble renew (been with them now for 12 years) was up so i was going to get a deal from mymobilephones.net for the galaxy note, it was:
100 cross-network mins + Unlimited texts + 750MB Mobile Internet Browsing • 24 months
£ 21.00 a month + free phone
but a bit worried about their reputation so i call up t-mobile uk customer services and explained I wanted this deal matched because I dont care about talking minutes and ask if they can match it directly. what should of happened was them saying no, sorry we cant.
but this is what happened...
her best offer was:
1000 cross-network mins + unlimited texts + unlimited internet (full monty which im sure is speed capped at 1mb?)
24months
£36 a month + free phone
1 hour 30mins later I’m screaming down the phone because this stupid foreign women isn’t listening to me, keeps talking over me and she keeps offering me deals above what I’ve explained to her and doesn’t understand all I want is a yes or no answer if they can match the deal and instead she calls me a liar and precedes to tell me there is no such deal available online anywhere.
so I ask to be put through to retentions, which she does; it just takes her 15 minutes to do it. she then hot swaps (transferring to someone else without explaining anything to the person your transferring too) me to retentions with me still on the line and then again transfers retentions to another retentions adviser. at which point they both take the p1ss out off said customer adviser calling her all sorts (they are British) i announce im still on the line and apology’s are made blah blah blah. a few mins later I’m told they cant match the price and im cool with that and go through the cancellation process.
done.
5 mins later get a call from the manager of the retentions department, full of apology’s for this instance and others over the years (every time i call them up i end up through to retentions due to bad 1st/2nd line support) and tells me that they can match the deal for me since ive been with them for so long, valued customer etc etc. the deal he offers me is:
300 cross-network mins + premium numbers + Unlimited texts + 750MB Mobile Internet Browsing • 24 months
£ 21.50 a month + free phone (black galaxy note)
get that all set up, ask if I can have white version and told only black is available which is fine. arrange delivery, gives me his email and am told whenever and whatever i need i am to contact him directly and bypass 1st/2nd line support.
get off phone, very happy and satisfied with not only the service from the two members of the retentions department but also I got the deal I wanted and more.
5 mins later another call, am now told the white is available from the suppliers and i can have it.
Being delivered tomorrow.
it pays to complain it seems

It does indeed.
Nice deal. I had an experience with Vodafone a few years back where I was in desperate need of sending an email without wifi access and no mobile internet on my call plan, called them up and after about an hour of free phone call had 500MB internet added free for the remainder of my contract term.
Simply cause I needed it, I asked, and after being passed through about 10 people that thought I was mental asking for data but not willing to pay, someone eventually decided, why not, let's give him it.

Hi flumps, very nice story. I must say I would love to have the same deal here in Belgium but unfortunately the competition here is not working. The Mobile providers just divide the customers and no such nice promotions are available.
For a galaxy note to actually be free, I would need to have a 45-50€ subscription and only 1 or 2 mobile providers have this options. All the rest will ask you to pay 500 € for the phone plus a 2 year contract.
But I am glad for you and I wish you all the luck with your new G.NOTE.
PS: Just one question, what is it about the white G. Note, so many people are asking for it?
I am more of a traditional guy (black suite, etc.) so I thought the blue would be better and have more demand, but apparently people are favouring the white version instead. I know it is hard to explain, but I would love to hear your side of the story.

awesome! i had a similar thing with t-mobile at the beginning of this contract. 3g was slow, after 2hrs of being passed to god knows how many people im told it was because i didnt have a internet booster which doubled the speed. in the end i got that for free for the remainder of my contract, i swear they must have so many notes on my account because of the problems ive had over the years with 1st/2nd line support lol

wow, is it really that bad there for competitive pricing? i feel sorry for you, that must really suck! so does that mean they are all part of the same parent company or is it simply one sets a price and the others follow i suppose kinda like petrol stations?
500 for the phone? thats what it costs off contract anyway isnt it!? damn. thats harsh
well, about 15 years ago while living in japan, white gadgets were the big thing and still are there and ive been in love with white tech ever since. i had the G1 in white back when they were open to developers and loved it! i dont know, i just think some gadgets look nicer in white, to me it makes a nice gadget into a sexy gadget,it instantly becomes more desirable to me white just seems more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. its kinda hard to quantify now i think about it!

Awesome, it is good to complain at times especially when they give you attitude. Don't they get it, the customer is always right

yeah, im pretty happy with the result and to be able to use premium numbers included in the call plan is amazing. i didnt even know they did this. going to save me £££s when im out and about. and also the price of £21.50 is including VAT.

Good deal.
I'm on a nice deal from Saunalahti myself.
Got it 2 years ago with an HTC Desire.
3000mins of talk to certain operators a month, 100mins to other operators a month for 2yrs, unlimited internet in everyway. Txt msg cost 0.069€ a pop.
All that for 4.90€ a month.
Then the Desire for 15€ a month.
Best thing is I can continue the plan for the same price in a couple of months when it ends although excluding the 100min thingy bcuz that was only for 2years but I don't care lol 99% off my calls go to those certain operators so..
Heres the internet speed Most of the time download varies anything between 8M and the total max aka ~15M. Up seems to always stay between 2-3M

When I read those stories I feel so bad about our carriers here in colombia. I've been a customer for about 5 years and when I wanted to buy the Galaxy Note I had to pay $550 american dollars with a $50 dollars plan and 2 year contract (180 cross network minutes and 3GB data plan).
If you want to buy the phone with no contract it will cost you $1003 dollars. There's no such thing as "free phone with a plan" unless you're buying a feature phone.
So congrats on the deal you got from your carrier and enjoy your phone!

Well those are really bad conditions. In Switzerland you pay about 600 $ without a contract. I feel sorry for you.

Nice win mate, I got mine on the one plan from 3 and loving it!

at last a thread that didn't have the words "brick" & "ICS" in the same sentence...
interesting story from OP..
i had a similar one of my own... i've been eyeing SII eversince it came out last year but my mobile contract is not up till April this year. however i was really tempted to just shell out the money and buy the phone outright (it was selling for about $750 bucks)
however my better judgement prevailed and decided to wait it out until my contract finishes.
it was the longest 10 months as I patiently wait till my contract was up for renewal. April came and I started asking my network provider on what promos they have... by this time however I had a change of heart and already had my eyes set on the note however i didn't want to sound too eager... after they gave me the list of phones i can get for free i started asking about the note and i still need to pay a whooping $350 bucks (mind you I am on a $60.00/month plan) i told them i will call them back
after spending a few nights pondering if shelling out $350 bucks for the note is worth the thought occurred to me to test how my network provider value and reward their loyal customers (i have been with them for close to 10 years now)
so called them up after a week and told the person that i was being offered by another telcom a $400 mobile voucher if i sign up with them for the same plan i had with my current provider... and guess what!!! they matched the offer in a heartbeat and told me they'll give me the note for free plus a few more goodies including a desktop dock & battery charger and extra battery so long as i stay with them... sweeeeeeeet..
i must say this is the sweetest deal i've had... had a beast of a phone for free with goodies... good things really do come to those who wait... hehehe

damn, that is good! you win thats for sure! lol
whats the desktop dock like?

I had the Dell Streak and it drank to much water so claimed it under insurance but only got $355 + some of my own $$ gave me a grand total of $475, the Note here in OZ ranges from $749-$849 outright, still needed to add more $$.
I have a work number and my wife has a personal account with Vodafone so couldn't upgrade till Feb next year, in the ending I went with a Mobile Payment Plan of $30 a month over 24 months under my wifes account.
I Slamed in my work SIM into my new Note which basically gives me unlimted data (fair use), calls to other mobiles and landlines.
One of best main deals at Vodafone is the $59 plan with $5 for the Note per month - Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone/ 3; unlimited Standard/ International TXT/SMS; $750 of included credit for Standard calls - landline and other mobiles, 13 & 1800#, International calls, voice mail and 1.5GB of data per month (add $5 p/m data pack for extra 750MB, $10 p/m data pack for extra 2GB, $15 p/m data pack for extra 4GB or $25 p/m data pack for extra 8GB). We are selling both the Black (blue) and White versions.
Had my Note now for over a month and love it hardley use my iPad 2, leave that at home now for my Wife.

Orange Tarrifs for the Touch HD

Post the deal you got here... Lets work together to make sure we all get the deal we want out of Orange!
What were you offered and how much?
For example today I got offered 3gig fair usage but i'm sure thats a load of rubbish!
Phone £49.99 - with £100 rebate in credit on account
Panther 45 - £20.00/month (long term customer discount)
free upgrade to 500mb/month data.
however i called orange today to ask about data usage as I have seen 1000mb else where and I was advised that there is no additional charge for use over my 500mb a month and that I would only receive a text message telling me I had gone over the fair usage amount - when asked what would happen if this was to continue I was told there was no penalties what so ever. (I asked that this conversation was adequately recorded on their system) In practice I think they are using the fair use system as a sales tool when in fact it does not really exist.
It does sound like it very much depends on your previous usage / length of time with Orange / your bartering skills LOL
I've been with Orange forever, but my bill is generally quite low - I got a deal which wan't quite as good as that cost wise (also on Panther 45), but did include the unlimited data usage.
Orange have a 'Blackberry connect' deal running at the mo, which offers unlimited data use for £5 a month - I guess they might have the option to apply this to non-Blackberry phones too?
Took a couple of "I need to speak to my manager" breaks, and I was on the phone to them for an hour.
But I was happy with the resulting deal
Great idea for this thread, I was just about to start one up however it would be appreciatied if all tariffs offered are marked as "New Contract" or "Upgrade".
I popped into town today to buy the Touch HD from Orange as a new contract and see how well I could do.
Well I've gotta warn people DO NOT BUY FROM NOTTINGHAM (Broadmarsh) unless you want to PAY FULL PRICE. Completely un-negotiable! 'Area Manager' refused to offer any discount what so ever because it was a 'just release handset'. Still can't believe that I suggested that I move upto £40p/m and was met with the same contempt!
Whilst chatting to the other staff, the lad let it slip that the 'area manager' has already given as many discounts as she's allowed for the month and its unlikely that I'll get anywhere even talking to her. Unfortunately, she then told him to get rid of me since I wasn't going to get anything (obviously she didn't like the look of me, loitering in the shop waiting for her to deal with some OAPs buying a topup).
I can't fault the lad I was talking to, since he's got no authorisation and was very apologetic but despite saying that he's practically got a sale on his hands and its effectively ££££ walking out the door and ends up as lost revenue, neither the him or the area manager would offer any kind of discount.
Oh well, next place is Derby I guess - hopefully the manager hasn't spent their quota of discounts

Hmmm I was informed in-store that the only data tariff they have is the 250mb @ £7.50p/m - I repeatedly asked if there was any other options, teirs, or offers which would increae my limit and he responded everytime with "the all we've got, we are really uncompetative with out data charges".
Mine was sort of new (I've got to cancel my previous [expired] contract), as I believe that Orange don't officially have stock for upgrades at the mo.
I've always found that I get the best deal by phoning them.
You might (if you're lucky) get a better deal face to face in store - but only if the manager likes you / has deals left.
And if they have any in stock anyway.
Obviously, you stand a chance of physically walking away with one in your hand doing it that way - but at least the call centre people have access to centralised stock, not just the 3 (or however many) that have been delivered to the store that week
Are these 18 month or 12 month contracts? I can't get a good deal on 12 months (They have conveniently lost a good 12 month offer i was made on Saturday!)
Mine was 18 month.
Anything else I forgot to add?
I'm on an 18 month contract (had to move from 12) This is why they offered the £100 credit.
Also i cant imagine getting a better upgrade deal from the store as they operate on a commission basis, the store would only offer better terms on a new contact for low use customers.
touch hd
I'm currently paying about £40 a month including the mobile internet option, contract finishes in a month.
I was offered £15 a month for 1000 mins, loads of texts and apparently unlimited internet. I have to pay £120 for the phone though.
I'll believe it when I get the phone in my hand; still waiting for them to get more stock, I was told it should be tomorrow (Wed Nov 10th).
This was over the phone btw.
They aren't even making me quit Orange and start a new contract like the have every time for the past eight years.
Sounds like a good deal to me but I'm wondering if they will "lose" this offer when they get more stock
£35/month, panther 45
250MB data (grrr)
£100 for phobe with £100 cashback.
I'm not sure how you guys got much better deals than me... :/
My deal:
Phone cost: £199 but will get £60 credit on bills so no bill for a few months!
Data: Unlimited data (FUP Capped at 500MB)
Mins: 300 X Network Mins
100 Txt Messages
Unlimited Landline calls
£20pm - 18month contract
7 Days DSR / Cooling off
This was the best deal I could get since my last 3 bills were quite low.
There was no negotiating with them on the handset price, although I did try - including threats to leave as I was out of contract. Sometimes that works and sometimes not.
Touch HD in stock for upgrades - just got a text. However they will not discount from £199 for the handset (although I could get £20 a month for Racoon)
Think I may buy out of the contract I'm on, and go with either the Expansys deal or the mobiles.co.uk instead
Doh!
Just called up Orange and they couldn't find the 15 p/m offer on their system.
Apparently it was from a different department so I'm waiting for a call back with someone from disconnections rather than retentions.
Will keep you all updated
got it ordered
It's now ordered and should be delivered tomorrow or maybe Friday.
Panther 45 for £40 a month with a £25 discount getting it down to 15 for the duration of the 18 month contract.
Free broadband if I want it (i don't), 1200 minutes, 500 texts, unlimited (250MB) internet and £129 for the phone.
And I get to keep my number. Looks like Orange have got over their "brand new customer only" mindset.
Out of the four people I spoke to there was only one muppet, a definite improvement and they now tell you how long you will have to wait to speak to someone instead of keeping you on hold for thirty minutes.
After years of slagging Orange I'm now actually happy with them.
Woo hoo!
brilliant
been playing with it all day and i've got to say i'm impressed.
only gripe so far is landscape doesn't work for all apps. GSen fixes this though and also turns it off when you put it face down.
touchflo i pretty cool but i miss spb diary so am experimenting with it turned off.
the options for claunch don't render on the big screen but appart from that it's a wicked bit of kit.
phoned orange for the pac code as I'm thinking of moving to O2 home broadband, so moving my mobile as well(to get the ~£5/month reduction the broadband). after asking for the pac code(they offered their broadband for £8/month(as I don't have orange at my exchange so can't get it free) on their home start(only 10gb usage), the home max(40gb) for £23/month) I asked to see what offer they could do on the touch hd(wasn't expecting much as the experiance back in october asking for the omnia wasn't fruitful(wouldn't go under £110 on £30/month contract), £25/month(500mins(quite a bit more then my needs), 100texts(not a big texter) & unlim land line(most of my calls are to land line)), handset for £175(with £130 credit to my following months bill, so £45 for the handset) + £5/month for 'unlim' web(500mb, used to be 250mb. apperently increased from boxing day). I'm going to see if I can get a couple quid more off a month and/or the handset down to £150(not hopefull on that).
I'm tempted to go ahead and get the touch hd from orange, but tryin to decide due to the O2 brodband. also thinking of waiting till the N97 comes out next year(1st half of 2009 according to what mobile).
The deal I ended up with is:
£49.99 for phone
£50 rebate
1200 Minutes
500 Texts
Limited to 250mb fair usage ... (but they always say unlimited when I call ??)
£30 a month
Amazing phone. Well worth it.

Thats a cracking good deal for 30 quid a month you got there... just hope you didnt have to get on your knee's for it lol .
Anyways....you guys forget about orange and their rubish about not available for upgrades etc and head on to mobiles.co.uk and grab it from there either as upgrade or new contract (free hd ) ...either way I found it nuch simpler than dealing with the lovelly people at orange and bagged a unlocked and unbranded HD through my Mrs upgrade for 60 quid (shes quite happy with her trusty pink nokia ) and now running my o2 sim that is due for upgrade in february but will just change it for the simplicity tariff since wont need a new phone for now but will keep it as a contingency plan for the HD successor :-D
NEVER EVER EVER buy a phone from your local orange shop - they are a useless set of twits who have no idea of half of the capabilities of the phone and then try to rip you off - for example:
couple of weeks ago I visited them (under the impression the Touch HD was exclusive to them) - They could only offer me either £200 for the handset on a £35 per month contract OR £50 for the handset on £45 per month handset (18 months). At the time I was happy to pay this, but put a deadline on them for the next following day as they didnt have the device in stock and said they would have to procure it.
That night I went on teh interwibble and Carphone warehouse were doing them for £137 for the handset on £35 per month contract. Phones 4 U however were doing them FREE on £35 per month contract.
I visited the orange shop next day ready to bargain - but luckily they didnt get the Touch HD in stock, so told them where to go and ordered it from Phones4U over the phone. 2 Days later a VERY happy bunny having saved £200!!!
Moral of the story - tell orange to go play with themselves and goto a third party provider like Phones4u
300£ for phone
270£ cash back
800 min, unlimited texts and unlimited landline
500mb/month fair usage policy.
also received a samsung g600 to keep my other orange number.
35£/ month

UK Tariff/Network advice please!

I'm one of the many waiting for the Leo. It's popped up on a couple of sites already with networks and tariffs attached to buy now with Nov 11th despatch.
I'm on O2 but there's a lot of speculation about them raking the price of the tarrifs up. I would like to stick with them because they are reliable in terms of reception.
So lets cut to the chase:
T-Mobile are offering it on 18 month with 700 mins talk time, unlimited texts and internet for £35. Oh and the device is free!
Vodaphone are doing a similar package but for 24 months.
What is reception like for these two in comparison to O2? Or should I just be patient to see what they offer?
For signal reception, that's entirely down to your location.
My expectation is that the device will be free on a £45/month contract for 24 months.
Maybe £50 for £35/month over 24 months.
Maybe £97 for £35/month over 18 months.
That is my prediction, not a statement of fact.
This is what I was thinking. A bloody rip-off compared to other networks IMO. T-mobile wasn't very good reception wise but as we all know, they are set to merge with Orange. I presume this means better reception for all?
As an existing O2 customer they should price-match tariffs, surely they won't want to start losing a customers too?
Mobile Phones Direct http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk is offering it for free on T-Mobile for £34.26 a month / 18 months / 700 minutes / unlimited texts & Web 'n' Walk / 3 months free insurance. It's the best deal I've seen on the web. Be patient! Wait until just before Xmas (I have to anyway) when the price war starts and you'll get a good deal...

That's the one I put in my first post Thanks though I'll try patience
Does anybody know whether T-Mobile are going to muck up the HD2 with its own (horrible) widgets or leave it well alone and original? Is the mobile going to be MDA'd or going to stay HTC'd? I KNOW this website is precisely to "sort out" any dislikes, BUT I would personally prefer that T-Mobile offers an HTC instead of an MDA.
Mobile phones direct sell their phones unlocked, so there wont be any T mobile branding at all.
Mobile phones direct have awesome deals, but their customer service is less than ideal. Expect your order to be canceled from them for minor issues that wouldn't take more than a phone call to resolve. Their automated notifications were innacurate (they blame the carrier for anything that might go wrong). I had to be very persistent when I ordered my TD2 a couple of months ago! The guys seemed to be on a race against the clock to hang up, and in not much mood to help.
Once my order went through (after four attempts I think), I had it next morning All in all, you need to be patient, but noone else can beat their price!
Mobile phones direct does look like the best deal out there at the moment, but if you use them remember to cancel the "free" insurance. 15-20 clicks and the sacrifice of a goat will reveal the extra small print of the extra charges that come "free".
But hey, once you have the phone, you never have to deal with them again, which is good.

The guys seemed to be on a race against the clock to hang up, and in not much mood to help.
Once my order went through (after four attempts I think), I had it next morning All in all, you need to be patient, but noone else can beat their price!

Just a quick question about Mobile Phones Direct. Once I order my phone, I'm assuming my contract is then with Vodafone (who I will be getting my HD2 with hopefully) and I can phone Vodafone to increase and decrease my contract and change texts etc yes?
Just want to make sure, before I go placing an order with them.

O2, £25 per month for 24 months with 600 min unlitmed Text and £99.00 for phone, or same for £39 at £35.00 per month.

That's a 24 month pay-per-MB contract on a data-centric phone, too.
To be fair, 24 month contracts as absurd as they are, are probably ok for casual phone users. For enthusiasts (which presmably 90% of the people on a site such as this are), that last 12 months is going to make you feel like you're handcuffed to a piece of junk when next year's devices come around.
I'm even wary of 18 month contracts!

Someone who is planning to sell his phone in 3 months, use the money to buy another one SIM-free, and then use the new phone with his contract SIM card, repeating as necessary until the term of the contract is up. Doing it this way means you can upgrade whenever you like, and you don't have to pay the full SIM-free cost of the first phone up-front; you pay it off over 2 years instead.
It can work out quite cheap. You can get a TP2 from Vodafone on a £30-a-month contract with no charge at all for the first three months. A comparable SIM-only contract would probably cost £20 a month, which means you effectively get a TP2 for a total payment of just £150, paid off at £10 a month, with 2 years' interest-free credit.
The only problem is if you think you might want to change carriers within the 24-month period; that's a real pain.

So an extra £156 on top of a 24 month contract, makes it less attractive.

TMOUS Customer Care

With all the horror stories, and rumors going around about TMO saying this and TMO saying that ...
And all the stories about how many returns the HD2 has had ..
I thought I would start a thread to share Customer care Triumphs and Horror Stories ...
The info we share may help someone who needs to deal with them in the future ..
-----------------
So Far I have had very good experiences with customer care, the trick is to ask for the smartphone department right off , they seem to actually know what you are asking then ....
It is now Stuck.
I was travelling internationally and wanted my account to be suspended as well as my HD2 to be unlocked.
They did it without any fuss at all! Incredible considering I still have not made the complete payment on the phone! I was hardly with t-mo for 10 days at that time.
And, the CC people were pretty good and (I always use the online chat as I need to call them from out side of the US) they were pretty good on the chat too!
A BIG thumbs up to T-Mobile!

Yeah overall TMO has pretty good CSR's ...
Never had any issues with TMO CC. I've always got the best deals available to me.
Best advice I can give to anyone dealing with customer care is be nice and never yell at them. And never act like you are entitled to anything. Also customer service reps can not make android appear on your phone no matter what they tell you.

I agree...and they have always been great with me and always did what they could even when it comes to back dating services to save me money! Saving money is always a plus!
My first horror story with T-mobile was and maybe still is..... I have 3 lines with t-mobile my moms,gf and mines I always use my moms upgrades since I always buy my moms S60 unlock devices shes loves Geeky stuff as well. So I got the HD2 with my moms upgrade So after 2 months I notice Data services going up so I called Customer Care telling them why my moms plan was up 25.00 bucks? and they told me she was using a HD2 and I said No I have the Hd2 and I used her upgrade. So there was a big drama where they put a new rule that you cant use another upgrade and use it in another line with out paying the data plan. I was lucky and I got them to lowered the data and change it back to were it was at before and return me the money paid for the data. Now the bad part now I cant Use my moms upgrade anymore to get new High end Phones and im shocked that t-mobile will turn down money and 2 year slavery contract away. The bad part for them Im just going to buy unlock devices with t-mobile 3g and lower my data plan to 5.99 or 10.00 bucks which turns out to be cheaper but I think T-mobile its doing bad having this rule and it all started after the big request of HD2s

I am a 5 yr. T-Mobile employee. And ya its kinda a tough policy that you fell within. You see when you use your upgrade for any smartphone/data device with a 2 yr. contract, a data plan is required for the length of the contract. (same as at&t, verizon, sprint etc.) So in your case you upgraded on Moms line, so Moms line has the contracted data plan, even though you are using it on your line. (I know, trust me it's a somewhat flawed policy that I'm hoping someday will be changed or a little more lenient) There are a few alternatives, instead of having the required data plan you can opt for the cheaper required messaging plan, or there's also a new required phone first data plan (tmobile web/wap) thats a cheap option for symbian S60. You have to have a required feature, but having lower cost choices hopefully helps.

I understand T-mobile Needs to make its money but it doesnt make sence I can go Fully unlock on any device pay 10.00 data on every line rather than 25 and I end up saving more money and contract free and the freedom to leave any time I want (not that I am at the moment) I call it some what bad business since If I was in charge I rather have people lock down in this 2 year plans and be my slaves than pushing this 20 25 data cost that as the phone market keeps growing and growing and data plans keeps getting cheaper you wanna have people lock down on two years especially now that people are been more aware of unlock devices. back in 2003 2006 nobody knew what was a unlock device.
I love T-Mobile CC
T-Mobile CC has never given me any problems. In fact, if you have been one of their customer customers for over 5+ years, they acknowledge your commitment and consequently provide special phone deals and options.

you can even switch to their even more plus plans if you're willing to pay unsubsidized prices for a phone... saving you even more per month without the need for a contract.
but as long as you choose to receive subsidized handset pricing, you have to have the data plan attached to the phone, as per the contract requirements, so they eventually make up the phone's discount.
tbh, i really dont understand how people still actively choose a contract plan on tmo instead of their non-contract even more plus plans. yes, you pay more upfront since the devices arent subsidized, but you will end up saving money after 2 years. most likely it's because people cant afford the device at full retail price upfront, but the EM+ plans allow for the device's cost to be split up over 20 months without interest.
basically, tmo offers customers a chance to save real money and without a contract, yet most of them actively choose to NOT save money simply because of the lure of the words "discounted price". personally, i think it's hilarious to see people screw themselves.
and i lurve, lurve, lurve my tmo service. i'm a fanboy of very few things, but t-mobile, especially once they started offering the even more plus plans, made me a fan. i have also never had a problem with their CS. they're always polite and i never have a complaint since my bills are always right.

[Q] Buymobilephones.net

Has anyone received their handset through Buymobilephones.net yet?
I placed my order 3 weeks ago on a £25 T-Mobile tarrif and just keep receiving Stock Expected Soon e-mails.
I phoned them today as my O2 PACnumber expires soon and they told me that they were not expecting stock for a few weeks as T-mobile had pulled the phone for software issues. This is strange as I went to my local T-mobile shop at the weekend and they had 2 in stock which they were keen to sell me (well one of them at least) but I wasn't willing to pay the additional £10 per month or the £150 phone cost to keep the £25 contract.
So what's going on?
Buymobilephones.net defined a few weeks for me in case I needed any help in that regard as 4-6 weeks - that's a lifetime.
I think it might be time to cancel your order and buy elsewhere.
Judging by comments here on XDA and elsewhere, the vast majority of UK users experienced no more than a few days of waiting for their Omnia 7s, a week in some cases, but very rarely more than that.
3 kept me waiting for ten days before I cancelled my order with them and went with T-Mobile; my own experience with T-Mo was that the handset was out of stock when I ordered, but 24 hours later I was told that the handset was back in stock, and the morning after that, I received my handset, and that was ten days ago.
It's also worth noting that T-Mobile hasn't installed any software on the phone, so the usual network customisation delays don't apply here; the only soft customisation they've applied is a T-Mo logo splash screen on start-up.
Seems to me that you can either accept buymobilephones.net's explanation and sit tight until they deliver (£25pm with a free handset is a pretty good deal after all, and you can always request a new PAC from O2 once you've got a delivery date); or you can get on to buymobilephones.net and ask them why they're keeping you waiting when T-Mobile have been shipping these things out to their customers for a while now.
By the way, looking at the small print of that deal you've got, it appears that you can either have the unlimited text booster that they've 'included' in the £25pm price, or you can swap that for a web ('unlimited internet') booster. If you want to have both the unlimited texts AND the web, you'll have to get an additional booster for an extra £5 a month, so the total cost will be £30pm, not £25pm. You WILL need a web booster though, you can't do without it on this phone - but as long as you're happy to live with web but without the unlimited texts (you'll still get 500 texts included), you can keep the price down to £25pm.
If you need BOTH web and unlimited texts, maybe you can find an alternative deal elsewhere with a free handset for £30pm?
Right - you prompted me to act.
I phoned T-mobile and asked if they could improve their £35 per month Tarrif - they agreed to reduce it to £30 per month (600mins, 500texts, unlimited internet +an additional booster). Then I agreed and proceeded with the order and informed them that I was an existing customer - so they agreed to reduce it further. In the end I had to pay £35 for the handset but I received the above tarrif for £25. And better than that - my phone will arrive tomorrow.
Big fat smiley face.
Just hope the phone is good now.

That's an excellent deal.
I noticed today that the 10 day delivery had gone from the T-Mobile website so I rang them up to check and stock was back in but the best they could do for me was 30 pounds, the phone free, 3gb but at 2 years
I am never ever going to be tied into a 2 year contract, I hate having to sign up for 18 months as that is too long really. So I will have to wait until buymobilephones get them in stock as at least I can get 18 months at 25 pounds with the phone costing 10 pounds.
A plus for you is that you get the 3gb and high speed without having to phone the sales reps until one switches you over - they shouldn't really as its only for T-Mobile sales and not resellers.
Have fun tomorrow with your new phone.

I was in the exact same boat. Decided to call Orange (who I'm currently with) and quoted my "friend's" (your) t-mobile deal.
I managed to get 600mins, unlimited texts, internet, 3 extra magic numbers (I'm now on 6) and orange wednesdays ofcourse for £22.50 a month with the phone costing £15! Thanks "friend"!
I have a feeling that I may be on the rubbish 500mb internet but she didn't day. If I am then I will moan and see if I can get it to 1gb.
Phone arrives tomorrow. Can't wait. And buymobilephones.net, I want my 3 weeks of missed WP7 awesomeness back!
Think of it this way, by waiting 3 weeks you have saved money each month over the next 2 years
And anyone waiting on buymobilephones they have said the T-Mobile Omnia 7 is in Monday with enough stock to clear all back orders.
Looks like buymobilephones are expecting them from Tmobile on monday . Can't wait to play with mine. Check out their twitter feed!
Edit: As posted above by root beer.
Does anyone know if Tmobile know that the phone has been bought from a 3rd party reseller? I'm wondering because I want to try and get moved onto the 3gb fup. If I pretend I bought direct they might be more cooperative.

Well, surely they'll know that you didn't buy it from them, as there will be no record of the transaction. A third party reseller is a shop, don't forget. Buying from shops is normal.
Yes but the contract is with T mobile regardless of where I bought it from. I will be paying them directly for my contract. Its just I will only get the 1gb fup for buying from 3rd party.
Just called Orange and got the data increased to 1GB from 500MB free of charge with no hassle. If anyone here is on Orange and is a returning customer it should be no problem as you can't really expect to fully utilise this operating system with 500MB and I think the highest they have on their online plans is 750MB. Just be polite to the person on the phone.
i asked at upgrades and they said they couldn't do that for me but gave me a dongle for mobile internet for 500MB instead??
i guess i won't need the mobile wifi hotspot feature now but i think i still would have prefered 1GB or more

Odd. When I phoned them, they said they couldn't price-match. Maybe it's cause I'm not on orange at the moment.
Had pre-ordered the HTC Mozart, but it's still out of stock on orange. Might see if I can swap it for the Omnia 7 on T-mobile, seeing as it's in stock.
Well after 4 days using my new toy and after all that messing with BMP.net I have phoned T-Mobile to arrange for it to be shipped back to them. I am not happy - primarily with WP7. I hope it will improve given a few updates but having used various incarnations of WM6 I am not hugely confident.
So my phone is going back and I have ordered an HTC Desire HD to replace it - I love my Desire so I am sure the Desire HD will be fantastic. I will miss the AMOLED screen most of all - I do so like black to be black.

Care to elaborate?
I wouldn't order from anyone else.
Ordered an Omnia 7 on H3G at 2.30pm and received the phone at 1pm the following day. Superb, quick service.
I really like WP7. The interface is clean and very quick. Internet, e-mails, text etc are all lightning fast.
I can't understand all those people who get a WP7 based phone, and then complain it doesn't do this or that. If you want a customizeable phone, go with Android or WM6.5.
WP7 devices are brilliant IMHO. At the end of the day it is a PHONE. If you want all the other bells and whistles.... Get a laptop!!!

Be careful with T-Mobile bogo

The BOGO is for qualified plans only (meaning T-Mobile One unlimited). So with the simple choice plan that I have with six lines if I were to switch, it would add at least $80 more each month. I had already ordered the two phones and added a line when I called customer service to find out why one phone was being shipped today and the other ship date was October 6 - 10. During my long discussion I discovered that my plan wasn't eligible for the BOGO (actually the customer representative voluntarily revealed this information - and even suggested that with the plan that I have that I not switch). Something similar happened to me before with T-Mobile you would think that I would learn my lesson.
Yes, most Simple Choice plans aren't included, but they don't tell which in the promo details. That's pretty much the reason they're giving you a $930 phone for free, they really want everyone to give up the good grandfathered plans. I have the 6GB $70 2 line Simple Choice plan and I'm not trading that in for a $120 2 line One plan
Purchase a qualifying Samsung Galaxy Note8 on EIP and activate at least one new voice line on T-Mobile ONE or select Simple Choice Unlimited with unlimited high speed data and get your choice of a Samsung Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ for free after rebate. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

This should be a warning for any promo. Verizon did this all the time when they switched from the unlimited plans. None of the plan promos would ever apply to their grandfathered data plans.

Yea the big problem is that it's after the return period has passed is when they tell you that you didn't qualify for the BOGO and now you're stuck with a $930 bill
I had the 2 for 100 simple choice unlimited plan. When they offered a free 3rd line to swap to the tmobile one plan, I jumped. 3 unlimited lines at 33 a pop. Can't say no to That!
That said, a 6gb plan would last me a week. I'm a heavy data user so that wouldn't work at all. I'd hate having to swap between wifi routers to stay under a limit
I have 150x150 home fiber but I still keep mobile data on unless I need to Chromecast YouTube for the kids ( requires me to be on my home network).
I LOVE the 10gb of hotspot included. My trucks head unit is a quad core android unit so I use YouTube music playlists while driving ( and iheart radio ). I couldn't live with a data limit!

Nope, I was told I was denied for the galaxy s8 bogo because one of the lines during activation did not get activated properly. Rep told me that it would be a simple fix for the rebate department to fix, hot diggity damn it was a 40 minute wait to disconnect. Spent 2 weeks trying to talk to the rebate team.
Now the note 8 is released and what do I do??? Paid half of both the lines and upgraded to the note 8...
Yeah it was a lot of money spent I could have hosted opened the extra line and gotten another BOGO but then to fuss later on to close the new line...
Regardless it was such a good idea to upgrade to the note, so much screen space just makes all then difference

has anyone gotten approved for the BOGO yet?

I did but I refused it didn't want to fork over 700 bucks just to get 300 6 months later lol thanks but no thanks
I got a note 8 today, and am on the simple choice plan, and the "free" second phone is just costing me a $10 a month additional line that I'm gonna cancel as soon as I get the card and pay off the EIP.
They screwed me... I have to pay full price, for both devices.

I hope that your simple choice plan is considered as being a qualified plan. Mine wasn't despite having unlimited data (it was explained that the unlimited data that I have was due to a promotion therefore didn't qualify). They wanted me to move over to the One plan which would have basically doubled my bill (because I have 6 lines).
Everything worked fine here, I'm on the 4 lines for $150 Simple Choice Unlimited everything. Already received my 930 gift card too ?

You reminded me to actually submit the rebate, thanks! I ended up calling in to get the rebate, cos I didn't see how to put it in online. Turned out that the two associated lines had to have unlimited internet, which the store had *not* told me. So the nice woman on the phone added it to those two lines only, put in an adjustment so it wont cost me extra, and submitted the rebate for me. She said once I get the rebate, call in and there will be no problem removing the unlimited internet.
So the store almost screwed me over, but customer care sorted it out for me. Patience and being polite to CSRs is magic! This is why I stick with t-mobile. Their CSRs have consistently gone above and beyond for me. And I'm on the simple choice unlimited talk&text and 2.5GB data.
A somewhat old plan.

Yeah? How long since you submitted for the rebate did it take to show up?

That's good to hear that it's working out for you. However, I would like to suggest that if you don't already have some sort of written proof of this that you get it. I'm not trying to scare you but from experience one rep may have told you one thing and the next one would say that they have no record of it or that the rep gave you wrong information. Simply submitting the rebate does not automatically mean that it is approved (again speaking from personal experience). But I will also say that if you have a truly unlimited plan that you should be good.
P.S. I've been with t-mobile over a decade because of the same reason that you have mentioned - CSRs have consistently gone above and beyond for me - but you still want to be careful; especially it being due to it being a $1000 transaction.

You should be good to go. I'm waiting for my note 8 to arrive this week. I did the trade in with Samsung for $400 off. I'm a little nervous based on others reporting that they got screwed over in the past. However, it went well when my wife did it in September for $425 off and a bunch of freebies.

I thought about doing the samsung deal, but I wanted the t-mobile financing, plus I wanted to walk into the store and walk out with my new toy same day.

I got the samsung interest free financing which comes with the ability to upgrade to the next samsung galaxy if it is half way paid off (similar to T-Mobile Jump)
