I just got this message on my phone and I have no idea how to fix it, I searched Google and tried just about everything I can. If I take my sim card out and put it in another phone if works great, I put it back in this phone and it doesn't work. Ive tried manually searching network, nothing. I've tried reflashing carbon ROM stock kernel and radio, nothing. I've tried toggling airplane mode, nothing. Wtf is going on here? I like this phone but I've never had so much trouble with a phone.

Sorry I think you may need to do a factory reset. Try backing up as much as you can off the phone and do the reset. GL My wife's touch 4g had the same issue when switching sim cards from her work blackberry to the touch 4g. Because the phone was brand new, there was no issue in doing a factory reset with the sim card installed.

its a real micro sim card, and i tried the resetting thing. no luck.
i just got off chat with tmobile and they said its due to the fact of non payment (i guess i shouldnt buy a phone from craigslist anymore)
so i assume theres no fix for this

bad choice buddy , should have bought it straight from google ORRR , asked the owner for the imei so you can check if its clean , im a big craigslist person too , but you have to check things like that , i bought a xbox 360 for cheap that was in mint condition but it was console banned for hacking/piracy reasons.
EDIT tmobile is cracking down on people who buy phones for cheap on a contract and dont finish paying , they will block your phone from their networks.

Wow that sucks. So does that mean the IMEI is blacklisted on tmo for non payment? Did the tmo chat say anything about new owner and such?

tmobile wont care if you claim to be a "new owner" or if you even tell them you bought it from someone who jacked you off , if its blacklisted he's out of luck , the best choice he has is to contact tmobile and check the IMEI

Hi there...
just got my Nexus yesterday. I'm from Brazil and a friend of mine got it from Play Store (unlocked, I guess). Here we have 4 main carriers, mine is OI. My Sim card works great in other devices (tested on Iphone 4S and Galaxy SIII). The device shows all 4 carriers, but when I tap on "OI", I got the same topic message.
Any ideas???

I'd like to get the s4 from a best buy location this week but I've got a few questions.
Do they do cross upgrades WITHOUT effecting the other line's sim/phone? I want to use my wife's upgrade but she'll be out of town so we can't have her sim/phone go off?
(I'm asking cuz in the past I had that happen)
If the upgrade date is 5/8,can I do it with best buy on may 1rst like I can at att?
Thanks to any best buy employees or otherwise experts who can help....

I can answer the first question but not the second, I don't have a clue about upgrade dates and such....
I used an upgrade from another account I manage yesterday and they told me that worst case scenario, the other phone will be deactivated for a second or two while they process the phone onto the account and then off of it, restoring the IMEI that was originally used.... if she has an LTE phone already, it will make the process a whole lot easier since they don't have to add an LTE provision and then remove it
That being said, I thought it was kind of wild they had to do any of that in the first place when I thought they could just process the upgrade as an in-store deal since it wasn't going on that account - they didn't pull out the phone and do a test call on it, so why would they have to activate it in the system for the other number and then remove it? At one time, the guy processing it who I thought I had confidence he knew what was going on turned to me and said "do you by any chance have that other phone available so I can get the IMEI off of it?" Well no, of course I don't, I told you that! You had it in the system before you deactivated it, put it back! haha, oh BBY.....
same here what happened yesterday, im goin to use my dad's
upgrade, since his phone is the galaxy s1, it turns out they deactivated his number(old sim) and they gave me the lte enabled sim, since i told them that i am the one gonna use both the s4 and s3 not my dad, they provided me a regular sim again for my dad but just to call 611 att customer service to transfer again the lte enbled sim to the regular one, such a hassel though, if only i have a simcard adapter that time.

Ok so she has an iPhone 5(lte right?) on that line now(the line I will use the upgrade date from.)
So it will go off for a moment and back on? For sure? She'll be so far from a att store that any problems would be a HUGE issue for us.
Please let me know. Thanks for help guys.
From my experience regarding dates, yes. As long as its the first of the eligible month. This was 2 years back when i got the s2 so not exactly sure if policy changed but i doubt it. Radio shack did the same thing.

The iPhone 5 is an LTE device, you should be good on that end
I sent a text to the number I was upgrading before to warn the person they may be without service momentarily, and then called on my way out of the store, they did not notice any interruption in service, so yes, it's for sure

This is true of outside vendors like BB still? I know Att could do it but not sure about non att stores.
Best buy mobile employee here. Typically if you are cross upgrading it isn't an issue unless it's an iPhone 5 or an old phone that uses a standard sim card. If they call customer service they can typically make it work without deactivating the old phone, otherwise you would need to get a new sim for the other phone.

It is only a problem because they use a nano sim which is only compatible with an iPhone 5. As far as the upgrade date goes, Generally it's not an issue, we just might have to process it over the phone

I appreciate your help.
My issue is my wife with the iPhone 5 will be a a very important trip where she needs the iPhone to work.
So I and she won't have access to the sim to change it out or anything.
Is what I want to do not going to work then?

There is a good chance that it will work, but there is also the possibility that it doesn't. If we call AT&T to activate over the phone sometimes they are able to move the SIM without having to deactivate it. It will most likely not be an issue, but there is always a slight chance that it would be cut off. When you go to the store make sure you stress that her phone cannot be shut off and ask them if there is any way to do it so that doesn't happen.
Follow up :
I went to a BB mobile store on 5/1.
My *639# said 5/8 for upgrade but she said she could do it no call to Att needed. So she did. All went well. Wife's lte iP5 didn't even turn off(that we noticed).
So cross upgrade went well. Stoked!
Thanks all for help.

Hi everyone,
I bought a Nexus 6P on Shpock selling app the other day, the previous owner had factory reset the phone before sending it to me. I was setting up the phone, and it asked me to put in the previous owners Google account to continue set up, obviously I did not know the details, and my impatience to ask for them was too short as I wanted to get into the phone and use it.
Anyway I found a video on YouTube explaining how to bypass this security. I followed all the steps and did everything correctly.
And now it turns out, my Nexus has been blacklisted. It had apparently been done on the same date and time as I was doing the security bypass. I will attach a photo to show you all
So my question is, could it have been blacklisted because of the security bypass?
I also have the email from Google saying welcome to your new Nexus 6P attached, this is to show the times are accurate to the blacklist time on the report.
Cheers!
Looks like there is about a month difference between blacklist date and email date. 7/5 and 6/6. Maybe previous owner decided to ditch it because of the T-Mo blacklist?
Oh my god I genuinely didn't notice the months difference! How stupid of me to not realise something so simple! The seller said it was unlocked, but when I try GiffGaff sim card who are linked to O2-UK it asks for a sim unlock pin. I've ordered a unlock code online, maybe it will work? I think it might because I bought a EE sim card to test it out (T-Mobile and Orange joined to make EE) and I got a signal on it??

In the US so not too sure of the carriers in your market, but the 6P is designed to be unlocked for any US sim (T-Mo, Sprint, Verizon, ATT I know for sure). It's not like a Samsung where you're tied down to one carrier. But if the phone does need an unlock I'm not aware of, the previous owner may have botched it and thus caused the blacklist.
Any possibility of it being a contract phone with an unpaid bill you think? Because i don't understand why it would be locked to one network and not be a contract phone, unless it was purchased from the EE store and locked to that network by default, I have no idea

I just did some cursory research. Seems T-Mobile (and maybe by extension EE?) is keen on locking SIMs regardless of if they were unlocked originally. Just saw this link http://www.t-mobile.com/company/com...olicy/unlock-your-mobile-wireless-device.html.
Would definitely contact T-Mo directly since they're the one who blacklisted it. Maybe you can talk to them about removing the block since you're not the original phone owner with whom they have issues.

That is odd. I definitely call them, humans are more understanding and creative than the website. Ask nicely, use flattery, and let us know what happens either way.

Hey guys,
i got this legit t-mo gs7e which came for free through this promotional agency. it is clearly branded as t-mobile and only works with t-mobile US sim card, but t-mo hotline keeps saying it is not a t-mobile phone. longer description in this thread which i accidentally posted in the GS7normal section: (i asked for the thread to be moved over here to avoid double post but nothing happened)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/help/unlockable-t-mobile-s7-edge-t3572986
will this new root help me making any use of this phone or do i have to just buy a new one? i been on the hotlines for about 3 weeks now and about to give up and just try to sell it and buy something else, so you people are really my last resort.
also willing to tip if someone can guide me through the process.
definately a legit, not-blocked, paid-off phone, just nobody can remove the sim-lock and i need to use it both in foreign countries and on diff networks in the US.
thanks in advance,
b

I don't think there is any hack or anything to sim unlock the phone. I believe it hinges on getting your imei into the tmo database, or using a paid service. Check this post and maybe try and contact that TMobile rep: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/unlocking-sim-tmobile-t3241032/post65795953
It will not help you unlock the sim lock.
I have been watching your comments since your firdt post about yiur phone and i hate to say it but i think you are going to have to use a pay service.

thanks guys, pretty sure a paid service won't be able to unlock it, that thread yrrch mentioned also has a couple people in it w similar phones where the paid ones didn't help.. but i'll def try call that higher level t-mo rep that is mentioned in there. it is one of these "partner purchase" programs i believe.

Yeah, I guess a paid service requires that your phone be registered in the carrier's database. Then if the unlock app doesn't work, you could choose to pay. So hopefully you can reach that woman and have her help! Good luck and keep us posted
OK, so I have a question. I'm Trying to move from t-mobile to Verizon but I'm trying to keep my same phone. So no matter what I do im better off getting a new phone?
To unlock that device you'll need to find a store that has the equipment to do it. There are boxes out there that unlock immediately through a connected cable.

The models that have unlock device apps can only be unlocked (Tmobile metropcs possibly others?) will have to be unlocked thru the app (AFAIK) other models (certain models, which vary accordingly) can be unlocked instantly thru cable.
Now, is it "impossible to hack"? I dunno? I don't think anything is impossible to hack.... (don't read into that, I'm not saying it's been done, I'm merely making a statement that's all)

I purchased Lg G6 unlocked t-mobile from ebay India on a half price of original "this is what I was patting my back with pride for" for a while though. Well, today I got a prompt on my phone screen that T-mobile temporary unlock period is expired, please reboot. I could smell the issue by now and as soon as I rebooted another message said "Network Lock". Now my sim does not have network signals. It is as good as a brick because I do not have t-mobile sim nor I think this phone was outright'ly purchased before it landed in my hands.
Looking for options:
1) does flashing custom rom (If available) release the network lock?
2) are there software available that can unlock without t-mobile sim?
3) are there paid unlock services available for foreign network?
4) any other that I am not aware of?
