Haha. I couldn't either the night I saw it. I showed it to some friends and they couldn't stop laughing either.
As far as battery life goes, I don't think it uses anymore than a static BG does, from what I've seen after 5 days of usage.
Greatest ever.

Exactly! She/he just trolls and posts stuff like that all over the evo forum. It's actually quite annoying.
This has been around for a long time I rocked it on my N1 pretty much since i got it. I use to rock it on the evo to but it gets such poor battery life that I had to stop using live wallpapers.
If you like it pay the guy the 50 cents. Support the developer don't **** him and download it behind his back or post it here as warez.
Having a load swim around my screen isn't my thing but he did an awesome job with it. He deserves the half a buck.

How much battery life is consumed with live wallpapers. I really like this wallpaper and ended up purchasing it. However, I'm reluctant to using it due to battery life stories. Does it only consume the extra battery when on the home screen?

No, he actually didn't. What's your point?
"TripNarc V08" bravia engine is working .... you can put on a cd as 007 TW wolf .. by the way is the best ...
It's placebo, So consider it implemented in every rom & you're good to go
I tested the Trip's 50% implemented Bravia engine vs. Wolf's 6.1.3 and there was no difference in video quality. Although, pictures did look a bit crisper via the TripNArc rom. It was not mind blowing by any means.

I almost spilled my coffee with that one!
I really don't get the 50% implementation...
I could be wrong but you either get it or you don't.
Anyway, I've tried all the custom ROMs out there,
differences in display quality are not huge or noteworthy.
Since the drivers (kernel) are the same, not much can be done with minor tweaks and workarounds.
And specifically about Bravia engine, correct me if I am wrong, but hardware plays a big part also.
The only CD with 50% functional bravia engine is "TripNarc v8"
What do you mean "CD"? From my understanding 50% implementation was included in all TripNArc Roms. I tested out .5, .8, &.9 and there were no differences in video quality just pictures.
But the quality of the roms are different ... v5, v8, v9 .... will more clearly in your images and videos in v8.

I think a lot of dhd users would be grateful for that. Man this option rocks for big phones! No more looking for POWER button "somwhere over the rainbow" hehe
I miss the times of HTC Magic and hardware power button under screen. That was perfect solution. Lat say samsung placed power good enough too but htc? Hello 4,7 inch screen (htc one x) and power high above and hard to press by one hand...
omg omg omg, please soooo please port this.

We have got this on the Desire S on our CM9 port, using the old kernel 2.
You need to build and integrate this from source
Desire S • Fallout V2.0.0 • xda premium
ideally, you want to keep the capacitive sensors open to input, then the math from there. i simple dont have the source or know how to do this myself.
Be warned, this drains excessive battery unnecessarily. Cool feature to show off, but prepare to charge your phone more often.

Well, I haven't got any statistics on me. I'm from the Desire S forum, we have the same specs. Some guys reported an increased mah drainage. in sleep we had 8-9mah, with the kernel mod, we had 14-15mah.
If someone can port this to DHD, you can ask LorD ClockaN to add this in his kernel.

I tired it for a few days. But using some of the basic features like weather and traffic drained my battery like crazy. It needs location access for a lot of stuff. I could find no option on how often to refresh.
But it was fun while I had it. Everything worked like it should. But a oem 1500 battery and our older phones don't hang to well.

I'm indeed getting a pretty good battery life on 4.2.2. I'm getting an average of 4 hours + screen on time, which is a huge improvement over my S2. It's just that the video playback/web browsing seems less efficient, in comparison to the Optimus G which has similar hardware.

Your logic is painfully flawed. A completely different group of engineers/software designers created the software for the Optimus G. IF it is indeed more "efficient," (which, by the way, where is your evidence?) it is NOT due to the version of Android used. They simply spent more time optimizing the libs and apks for the hardware. Again, that's a big IF.

It has been proven multiple times that the optimus g and other devices with similar hardware have way better battery life than the nexus 4. just look for some battery benchmarks.
Furthermore, 4.2 seems more resource heavy than 4.1 was, which again leads to a higher CPU, along with other stuff, usage, which in the end results in worse battery life.
Whatever it is, there is a difference between the optimus g and the nexus 4.

First of all, I was only giving an opinion; i did say "seems", did i not? I don't need to prove anything to you, because it has already been proven. Search endurance rating for both phones. You make it sound like I was trying to start an argument, well, I'm not. I only wanted to know, the so called "IF" it will actually improve battery life. Seeing that you're an active member of this forum, I assumed you would know, that Android version used does indeed affect battery life. If you're not posting anything helpful (like the few peeps above, for the sake of trolling), then please don't.

You would be terrible as a lawyer. You're the one trying to prove a case here.. You submit evidence to your peers for review when trying to prove your case. You don't instruct them to go hunting for the evidence for you. It really eliminates this whole back and forth thing if you just put all your cards out of the table at once. If the cards don't exist then let's just let this issue rest eh? In the end no one cares anyway..

Yeah, I have no clue why you would be needing better battery life out of this phone. On 4.2.2 I get all day and then some with lots of screen on time. I don't even have to worry about making it through the day with this phone. For the record, there is not going to be a kernel for the Nexus 4 that is compatible with anything lower than 4.2 so it's a futile effort to begin with. You could flash anything you wanted to your phone and then bask in the glory that is a soft-bricked phone. Like someone said above, a bricked device tends to get great battery life!

I'm sorry but regardless of how you try to justify it, downgrading isn't the answer to your problem. If you want to get better battery life out of your device (and I do understand that if you're watching a lot of Netflix on it that you would need more battery) then you're going to want to flash a custom ROM or Kernel or both. Franco.kernel is probably the most efficient kernel for stock. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002782 ) Like I said before, there isn't a kernel that exists for the Nexus 4 that will run with 4.1 so you may as well explore other options. I guess the reason everyone here is being so sarcastic and everything is that it's such a noobish question and yet everyone is seemingly defending it to the death. There's nothing wrong with asking questions but you shouldn't argue with people who are more informed than yourself.

I was aware of the fact that older versions are incompatible, which was why I joked too. But, I'm not aware of whether 4.1 would be compatible since it's still relatively new. I think you misunderstood, I wasn't defending the title; simply arguing with some of the things people said, like estallings15 and you. You may be more knowledgeable about this than I'm, but by no means, would i have to agree that searching for new ways, to improve my battery life is bad.
