Sweep2wake - any kernel master to bring this for dhd? - Desire HD General

I just saw this amazing option/work of developer and tought we can have it too on ours dhds. Anybody? That would be great! They should include it in all phones above 4inchs by default.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jri2BMQHHrs

I likeeee a lot.

If a kernel dev wants this feature I could take some time and port it over, though due to lack of a dhd I would not be able to test it

I think a lot of dhd users would be grateful for that. Man this option rocks for big phones! No more looking for POWER button "somwhere over the rainbow" hehe
I miss the times of HTC Magic and hardware power button under screen. That was perfect solution. Lat say samsung placed power good enough too but htc? Hello 4,7 inch screen (htc one x) and power high above and hard to press by one hand...

omg omg omg, please soooo please port this.
my power button is wearing out.
EDIT:
*facepaw*
I can program, hey, anyone wanna help me make the sweep2wake for dhd? i have no clue how to patch it in

i think pacha want to take it into his rom/kernel. i ask him about this in his xtreme rom thread

Show-p, I'm willing to try an DHD kernel port out for you, if you want to test it. It would be a cool addition for the DHD/Inspire devices

klquicksall is working on this

so if anyone would care to work on this, it would be best to contact him, no point in reinventing the wheel.
im very interested in this one too, so if you need testers, i can help. not much else unfortunately, since i cant code at all

close but no cigar, i need a ics kernel.

We'll be back in a month or so then lol.

Come on kernel 3 alls dev.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App

We have got this on the Desire S on our CM9 port, using the old kernel 2.
You need to build and integrate this from source
Desire S • Fallout V2.0.0 • xda premium

ideally, you want to keep the capacitive sensors open to input, then the math from there. i simple dont have the source or know how to do this myself.

Be warned, this drains excessive battery unnecessarily. Cool feature to show off, but prepare to charge your phone more often.

Well, I haven't got any statistics on me. I'm from the Desire S forum, we have the same specs. Some guys reported an increased mah drainage. in sleep we had 8-9mah, with the kernel mod, we had 14-15mah.

If someone can port this to DHD, you can ask LorD ClockaN to add this in his kernel.

Hmm, I guess it isn't too bad, as you can refine the Rom to get as low as 2-3 maH before the mod.

[ROM] [2.11.605.9, S3NS3 3.0] [BEATS] SHIFTS3NS3 v3.0 (Modified HTC Kernel)

If you like the ROM please rate the Thread and Thank Me
UPDATE: The First Link is working again thanks to t33ch0 for the hosting, it's FAST!!!
Ok Everyone As Promised here is the NEW SHIFTS3NS3 3.0. I have taken the 2.11.605.9 base and decided to implement a full S3NS3 3.0 experience with this version. There have been some significant changes to the Rosie Launcher to smooth things out and it's finally ready in my eyes. This has been tested for a while now and neither I nor my beta group have seen any significant issues arise.
This version will NOT support any previous modifications, only the ones listed below will still work, especially the 2.1 Call Answer Screen, that being said I have included an App in this relase called Shake To Answer which when set properly does not eat away at your battery and can be used to answer a call when the End Call screen shows up. I have it set to shake moderatly which seems to work well for me!!!
I am still considering updating 2.1 to a 2.2 version for those who REALLY want to keep the old launcher but I like this one. THERE IS NO 4x5 MOD available "yet" I am working on this one too, I know a lot of people out there are
Notable Changes:
See Changelog below please!!!
As Always if you appreciate my work as much as I appreciate bringing it to you please consider donating to the I have a new wife who doesn't like my development hobby and I have a New Son coming in February fund ;-)...and Thanks to the few of you that already have your help is appreciated!!!
This ROM does require a full wipe and it will not do it for you, the ROM will wipe the System Partition only so I would recommend that you manually go into Clockwork Recovery and do a factory reset on your phone. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, it may still work for you, but please do not post any issues until you have a clean install.
Here is just a partial list of what I did (the important things anyway)
1. Debloated the whole thing (man Verizon puts a lot of useless stuff in these)
2. Added the latest version of the Market 3.4.43
3. 4-1 Reboot included
4. Radio Info Settings included
5. Wake on Volume is now the default (patch later in this post to stop it)
6. CRT ANIMATIONS!!!! They are back
7. Weather Database was fixed so that all of your cities should be available now not just your state (maybe it was just me but that was really annoying) (thanks to jbeitel over at BAMF)
8. USB Debugging Icon was removed. I'm pretty sure if you are using a rooted ROM USB Debugging is ALWAYS turned on the icon was annoying I pulled it out
9. The default wallpaper for the ROM is now selectable if you change it you can go back (it's Number 5 under HTC Wallpapers)
10. My Theme's wallpaper is also there now (it's Number 15 under HTC Wallpapers)
11. I implemented the TRUE 6 Signal bar MOD so you should actually get 0-6 now not just 0,2,4,6 (Thanks to jmz over at BAMF)
12. Remove DmClient.apk to prevent Future OTA Upgrades
13. HTC Beats Works Now
14. Updated SuperUser 3.0.7
15. Updated Facebook for HTC Sense v3.0.2121282161.205585
16. Updated Flickr v3.0.2120251049.153871
17. Updated Friend Stream v3.0.2120251048.161632
18. Updated HTC Twitter v3.0.2121402149.214481
19. Updated and Moved Gmail from System/app to data/app version 2.3.5.2
20. Updated and Moved YouTube from System/app to data/app version 2.3.4
21. Native Screenshot is included now, just hold the Power button and push Home and it will take a screenshot!
22. Added Shake to Answer since flashing the 2.1 Answer Screen Wont work on this version

I get faster via 4G VZW than my xfinity on Wireless N WiFi. I still have the unlimited data for atleast 1.5 more years, so not worried about using WiFi.
I have been keeping my OCing max to around 1.45-1.59ghz depending on kernal. I prefer performance & smartassv2 governers.
Also use a 3500mah battery.

3000+ hours uptime on a stock 2.3.5

Just wanted to share my friends ridiculous uptime on his neglected dhd running completely stock as out of the box. Overtime I noticed him being a bit paranoid of running low and always charging around. I checked it and it was around 1k already, without him even considering this as unusual or having the now and then need to restart, like the rest of us From then it became a bit of a challenge for us, and for him an on going obligation and an everyday responsibility... The best part of the story actually is his carelessness towards maintaining a clean and stable os, using it as any subxda user for everyday needs. For the challenge to prove the point the general character of the use couldn't be changed just because of our discovery, and so it hasn't. Atm we hit 3168 and the MSM8255 is humming on

As a total noob, I'm not getting this. I didn't think there was a point in rebooting Android that often?
My Desire HD is running stock (if that is only official releases and that), has 258 hours uptime, and no bugs or glitches I can think of.
Is it bad having a kernel that is not "new"?

This very thread is a testimony to exactly this. There is no need to reboot android very often, and there is no need to clear your ram every hour. When that's said, a phone running for 4 month without a hickup is uncommon. Restart android to your liking
Regarding the kernel, the short answer is yes - IF you as you are stating, running stock. If you root your phone, a lot of other things are important regarding the kernel, not just the build date...
But if you have the latest ota (thats, over the air) update you will also have the newest kernel.
Thanks!
Yes, I have the latest update released from HTC, but they scrapped this phone a year ago.
I dunno... In my experience, at least with my setup (apps) on stock sense 3, my phone would work no matter how long I had it on without restarting but it would become EXTREMELY SLOW after like 11-14 days.... could be an app that was causing this, I am not sure... But I don't think I had it w/o reboot for more than like 20-30 days (and maybe once) Then again, I use a lot of widgets and apps so it is more probable that slowness is an app thing than an OS thing. Still, sometimes I envy iSheep users.

Battery life is great and so is performance. Problem is when the phone dies and you plug it back in you can't turn it on immediately. That is really annoying.
How is it? My Shift is nearly dead after being dropped many times. The LED notification light no longer works, the power button gets stuck and hard to press, and it's just running sluggishly in general (though this could be my ROM, I'm running kushdeck's ICS pb21). I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July, so I might need to replace my Shift.

Update 28 Dec 2016 The best results for me so far with my Z3+. No heat, just battery

Update 28 Dec 2016
I've been using this to reduce the heat. I know many of you have heard about it, just want to share to those who are still struggling with their Z4 .
I reduce the screen resolution (in general) to 720p , and back to 1080p only for watching films . My phone gets good results in both battery and performance.

Skynet project doesn't seem like my thing, it turns everything off, and it's not how and why I choose android. For instance, with things work normally, I use Google Now for almost everything, googling, watching and reading stuffs, translating things without getting into browser, or any other app. It's much easier and faster to use what you have got. I do use Zach's kernel for image/ screen enhancement but I would prefer the stock one sometimes. Zach's is better in some ways though, but yeah..
And as I write on the top, I've been using the screen shift app (with root, or you can use any app) to reduce the resolution of the screen. It makes our phone screen less sharp (poorer quality), but you wouldn't notice the difference anyway. The good thing is, you get better performance, better battery, and reduce heat (I suppose), as far as I can see from my phone.

I don't know what you use to read XDA, I did attach 3 screenshots in my post, and it's "screen shift" app, you get into it, set resolution 720 x 1280, density 294 (or else as your own needs)
