This is what you people sound like. [Humor] No, seriously. - Kindle Fire General

Noob #1: I've searched all over and can't find the answer to my problem. I think I bricked my device. I tried rooting my Kindle Fire and now it's stuck at the Yellow Triangle.
XDA Member: Your device isn't bricked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747567
Noob #1: Thanks for your reply but that doesn't help
XDA Member: Are you sure? Did you even read it?
Noob #1: Yes I read it. It's just a beginners guide. That doesn't help me. I need to unbrick my Fire.
XDA Member: I know for a fact the answer to your question lies within that post. You have to take the time to read the whole thing, thouroghly.
(3 minutes later)
Noob #1: Ok, I've read the whole thing but I still don't know how to fix my problem.
XDA Member: Do you even understand what your problem is exactly?
Noob #1: Yes. I'm stuck at the Kindle Fire logo.
XDA Member: omg
Noob #1: Can't you just tell me?
XDA Member: Fine, whatever. You're in the wrong bootmode. Currently, you're in fastboot mode. You just need to change it back to normal.
Noob #1: How?
XDA Member: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747804
(1 minute later)
Noob #1: I've read it but I don't understand what that means.
XDA Member: You have to enter the appropriate command in order to change your bootmode from 4002 to 4000
Noob #1: What's the command?
XDA Member: omg
XDA Member: "fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000"
Noob #1: How do I enter the command?
XDA Member: I'm not going to sit here and teach you how to enter fastboot commands. That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Google it.
(2 months later, same thread)
Noob #2: Hello? Has anyone figured out how to fix this? I've been searching for DAYS and can't find the answer. I'm having the EXACT SAME problem, only its COMPLETELY different.
XDA Member: How is it completely different?
Noob #2: I tried rooting my device and now its stuck at the Kindle Fire logo with an android above it.
XDA Member: Your problem isn't different at all. The screen with the Kindle Fire android logo is called the bootloader. It's a modified bootloader called FireFireFire and for all intents and purposes it's exactly the same as the one with the Yellow Triangle.
Noob #2: Okay, but how do I fix it?
XDA Member: Did you even read any of the previous posts?
Noob #2: Yes, but the problem was never solved.
XDA Member: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747567
Noob #2: Thanks for your reply but that doesn't help.
XDA Member: Are you sure? Did you even read it?
Noob #2: Yes but it doesn't help me at all.
(this portion of the conversation omitted to protect the reader)
(15 posts later)
Noob #2: Okay, I decided to try and fix it using the Kindle Fire Utility but when I try to change the bootmode, it says device offline.
XDA Member: You need to fix your drivers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747671
Noob #2: I checked and my drivers are still there and called Android Device and ADB Composite Interface.
XDA Member: They need to be reinstalled. Follow the instructions.
Noob #2: I reinstalled my drivers but it still says it's offline.
XDA Member: Did you follow the instructions exactly?
Noob #2: I know how to install device drivers.
XDA Member: You have to follow the instructions, exactly.
Noob #2: Hey, it worked!
XDA Member: Imagine that
(same thread)
Noob #3: Help! I was having the same problem but while I was trying to fix it, the device rebooted and now its flashing the Kindle Fire logo. I've searched the forums and Googled for WEEKS and still can't find the answer to my problem.
XDA Member: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25400963
Noob #3: I tried plugging it in but that didn't work.
XDA Member: Then get a factory cable.
Noob #3: I have a factory cable that I got from Amazon but it doesn't work.
XDA Member: No. That's an OEM cable. You need a Motorola style factory programming cable.
Noob #3: I have a cable that came with my Motorola phone. Will that work?
XDA Member: OMG No. That's an OEM cable. You need a factory programming cable.
Noob #3: Well, is there any way to fix it without a factory cable?
XDA Member: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25400963
Noob #3: But I just read that.
XDA Member: Read it again.
(same thread, still)
Noob #4: I need help. I'm having the same problem. I've been searching for HALF MY LIFE to find an answer.
XDA Member: Same problem? As who? Three different problems along with their solutions have been covered here.
Noob #4: I recently installed ROM XYZ and now I can't get it to wake after putting it to sleep. Also, I've been having a problem getting it to shut down properly.
XDA Member: OMG! Don't you people know how to start your own threads? You're not having the same problem at all. Did you read the ROM developer's thread before installing...or any threads for that matter?
Noob #4: No. Why would I do that?
XDA Member: OMG
Noob #5: Can someone please add USB OTG support?
Now jaded XDA Member: Just shoot me.
Noob #5: "your" mean

Alrighty then...

wow you need a life

This is pretty accurate.
Honestly, if you can't figure out how to do these things that are detailed in the threads, then you shouldn't be trying to run anything that didn't come on your Kindle Fire when you opened the box.

thanks. that was great!

First, it can be very very tedious to read through 10 different threads in which 20 different people are giving their opinions as to what MIGHT be wrong with your device. I speak from personal experience (you can see the thread I posted earlier today).
And i'm not a noob, far from it. I've been rooting and ROMing since I had the original iPhone way back (sarcasm) in 07. I can read and follow directions. But everyone's circumstances are different, so sometimes if someone says "I read it and it didn't work", that's just the case.
I must have looked at at least 15 posts to try and find an answer for my problem. Five threads says it's the bootmode, three threads say it's my drivers, a couple say I need a special factory cable.
So when you guys say "wow, this noob can't search/read" you're oversimplifying.
In addition, most of the people on XDA are not uber-leet haxors or whatever. They're people who like their devices and want to make them better. And even the ones who ARE uber-leet haxors didn't start off as one.
All that is to say, please stop being a jack donkey.

WOW. You really took that personally. Sad. It wasn't intended to be personal. Actually it was intended to be humorous, hence the [Humor] in the title.
But to be perfectly honest with you, this is what gave me the idea for it in the first place. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25597260
As you can see, that user couldn't even be bothered to take the time to read a simple guide and educate him/herself. And you're right. I didn't start out knowing what I know, I had to search, read and learn. I paid attention to and understood the forum rules before posting anything.
Look for yourself. I've asked for help maybe 4 times in 3 posts (mostly for development). And each time, when someone offered a link or suggestion, that was the end of it. Too many users are looking for a thread with their EXACT experience instead of paying attention to the intent of the links given to them. And that, my friend, is laziness.
Stupidity and Ignorance is forgivable...laziness, not so much.
[Edit:] That being said, when you take something for free that someone else has worked hard on, the very least you could do is educate yourself in how it works and be GRATEFUL to anyone that takes the time to try and help.

I agree with that, but I also believe that what comes after is what either drives people crazy or makes them want to help:
Case 1: "I read it and it didn't work"
or
Case 2: "I read it and it didn't work, it's giving me error XXX and when I googled it I get some information regarding such and such, by the way my configuration is XYZ and when I look for X on Y it comes as W, I'm using ABC computer etc, etc, etc"
Second case will for sure get far more help from more experienced users/devs and will most likely not be labeled as an annoying noob. What's more, that user will most likely become a power user down the road.

Absolutely agree, not even Hashcode was born with all his knowledge, he tried, failed, tried again, and failed again until he got it. And I'm pretty sure when he was stuck at something he was the Second Case type of user above on whatever forums he posted.
And finally, we all need to vent off from time to time, and humor is a great way to do it.

all of it with HWA and USB OTG of course!

I was amused.

I got my KF just about 2 days ago, and seeing how useless it is being outside the US, I decided to root and install custom ROMS into it.
I was shocked to see how many people asking for support on how to actually root and hack the KF, so much I started to think I should return it and get a Galaxy Tab 2 instead.
Eventually, I got to read this post and realized that hacking the KF was not that hard, dunno why are asking so many questions about it.
Maybe, if we could direct them to use the "Kindle Fire Utilities" in this link, they might stop asking questions? Seriously, it has everything you need to do. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
The downloads within it is a little bit outdated so you might need to do some searching for the latest downloads.

If so, if you could provide me the link to a program to Root the phone, and Unlock the phone, would be much appreciated, and I can go from there, thank you. Please do not flame this, obviously I know what I am talking about.

doesn't matter
It doesn't matter whether you are a noob or know what u talkin....
Anytime you create a new thread in the Dev section(twice!!) with such a basic question....you are asking for it....search man search!!
Mods please move....
You should be searching, but ignore the a**holes, just in the future make sure you check out all stickies and abuse the search function ( and NEVER double post, because then even I wont feel bad for you)...otherwise you are welcoming the douchebags to come out from under their rocks and prey on fresh meat
to answer your questions, you do not have to "unlock" the phone. Just root the phone in order to obtain Superuser and Busybox. Install "OCLF" from the market, this is the easiest and fastest way to root your device. And from there just read up on ROMs/Mods for yourself to see what you want. Most ROM threads have specific installation instructions, good luck.
This phone is so easy to mod, its silly. However, sometimes it can be TOO easy, in the sense where if someone gets caught up in the simplicity and starts rushing, you may miss a small detail that could cause major setbacks. Its happened to the best of us, it doesnt mean you dont know what youre doing, it justs means your enot reading carefully. So no matter how simple something may seem/sound, always make you read carefully so as to prevent issues that will cause you to post/panic like crazy.

Sounds like you were trying to revert back to stock. I assume the stuff you are talking about is yellow. If so try to use odin again.
The obvious question to me is, did you try Odin again after it failed? Logic would suggest that if Odin failed I'd have to do it again.

Using google first saves you time because its an immediate response, it saves everyone else time having to an a simple question, and it saves our forums from being cluttered. I said nothing rude and I would have answered his question had it not already been answered (which I highlighted with my quote and saying "this"). If you want to respond to my adult advice and response by acting childish, that is your prerogative but I will continue to post help to those who made an effort to get it.

I believe his point was, however, that before one starts an endeavor that can break a piece of $500 hardware one should generally make sure they understand all of the possible outcomes and how to deal with them which he pointed out that you didn't. He could have said it in a more polite manner but he was correct.
I have ben to this screen when my odin got interupted. Pull the battery for a couple minutes. Hold down the one key on the keyboard and then power on while holding it. This puts you in download mode. Odin back to stock.

It appears I have one thanks or maybe I cant count. More than likely since I dont cry about wanting thanks that could be it. The purpose of a forum is to get help. Regardless if the answer could be found on google the forum would not need to exist. I am on one forum and it is the most mature forum there is. I see question repeated over and over again. Even in this case people still answer it like it was asked the first time. If all forums were like that, forums would be a much better place.

I do not understand why it is difficult to simply search for an answer. If you cannot find the answer, then post and people will help. As I've stated I do very often provide detailed explanations to people even to those who had not searched for the answer however I always add that in the future they should seek out the answer on their own first. His question had been answered and as such I stated that he should try and figure things out on his own. I have never begged for a "Thanks" and I could care less about them but I have spent hours of my time helping others fix issues and there are many people who can attest to that. Leatherneck has done the same, in fact he has even helped me a few times that I can think of in recent history. On the other hand, the only posts I've seen from you are complaints about other users or asking other users for help. The point of these forums is to allow a place for developers to gather and together fix and hack away at new phones and such, not to aid in every little personal disaster. That is why it is a FORUM RULE to search. A rule for which violators can receive infringements or even bans. By telling people to search, I am not telling them to shut up I am showing people how to be an active member of this community and if you cannot grasp that then your place here is very limited.

As you will probably read this WDM, the OP had no previous posts... its seriously a good idea to impose the 10 post minimum to post in dev, or maybe even more to start a thread... but its a good idea so that new people will not get flamed by these 'senior members' (you would think wisdom and patience would come with that).
On your phone google z4root. Enable USB debugging and Unknown Sources in Settings-->Applications. Install and run z4root. In the market, download superuser. DONE.

Anyway, here is an obvious (but possibly overlooked) troubleshooting question-
Which version of Windows 7 are you running? x86 or 64? And which driver did you install? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Good riddance... If you would actually READ threads, then maybe you would be of some use to the XDA forums. Did you even see the POST???? It is one step. One step. One step.... to read the damn post before you shoot your ignorant mouth off. People who don't read forum rules and stickies may be a big factor for the clutter on XDA, but people like you are the reason this forum is "trashed".
I usually don't help in situations like this but due to the amount of butthurt sandy vag's in this thread, Here you go...
1. Can you tell us exactly what kind of error you are getting when you try to install these drivers?
2. Where did you get the package and what is it's name?
3. When you go to the device manager in Windows 7, do you see a Samsung device listed under "modems" when you plug in the phone?
4. Like the other guy said, which version of Windows 7 are you running. 64-bit or 32.
I know for me it took several attempts to use the Clockworkmod installation due to my computer not recognizing the device. It's obvious the OP has done some form of research seeing that he is starting the first process which is getting the drivers installed.
OP where did yu go? Some of us will help you even if you posted in the wrong sum forum.
The samsung drivers kinda suck, so the frist thing to do if your having problems with the phone not connecting to windows is to
A) try a usb port on the motherboard (back of pc)
B) try a difernt usb cable

I would say u need to be a bit careful wid blackrose. Cos its not as easy like flashing a rom. I would recommend you to go thru the blackrose thread carefully to make things clear. If u get any doubts u can ask it and clear things out

There should be CLEAR instructions in the OP of the Blackrose thread. This **** is ridiculous.
What do I need? Do I need the Android SDK? If I do, can I install it on a seperate drive? I don't need ****e clogging up my SSD. No one has stated I need the SDK, hence why I haven't bothered with it. If it is needed, then my point about none of it being CLEAR is reinforced.
Been trying to figure this **** out for hours. Seen countless numbers of posts with people trying to give instructions. I try these things to find that I have missed something because I can't complete a step or some other problem.
And did I mention how helpful the installation video was in the OP? Really good stuff, that.
Any actual help will be appreciated. Gonna jump off the nearest cliff if someone suggests to read through the thread again. Which seems to be the only thing that people like to tell others in these "help" threads.
Cheers.

Do you know what the SDK is? If not, maybe you should read up on what it is and why you would need it.
No, you do not need the SDK installed. You do need the drivers for your device installed though, both for fastboot and normal mode.

Hours? When I got my first smartphone many years ago, I spend months lurking around this site trying to take in as much knowledge as I could before even attempting to flash anything. I wanted to make sure that I understood everything I was doing before doing it -- I did not want to blindly follow someone's step by step.

This is much more helpful. My apologies.
If I were the one creating these sorts of things for others (and myself,) I'd very much like it to be as simple as possible for the end-user. I'd like as much support as possible and I would be isolating the majority by making it more difficult than it could be. I shouldn't need a developer's knowledge to be able to take advantage of a developer's work.
I'm sure I just missed something simple. It wasn't the drivers. After I installed them and tried the Blackrose exe again, it stops at "waiting for device." Read through some of the thread, not understanding half of it, as you would expect, and didn't come across anything that could have helped me with my problem.
Any ideas?

I think what you posted above is where the problem is. People here are not creating things here for others. They are developing something, and sharing it with others.
And I guess, you didn't read the comment in the link in my previous post. Otherwise, it probably would have been more clear.
I'm not trying to insult. On the contrary, I am trying to help you figure it out, not have someone figure it out for you, in the spirit of xda-developers, not xda-support-desk.

It's funny, but I remember more than one individual having the same issue in the Blackrose thread. And I remember mentioning to at least one individual that they could try to flash Blackrose manually, instead of using the installer. But maybe you missed that. Or did you not read the entire thread?

lol, seriously?
There are 956 posts in the Blackrose thread alone. Expecting someone to read EVERY single post and absorb all of that information at one time is a bit proposterous. I'd bet it'd take a good 3-4 hours to just read that single thread.
I'm not saying we should spoon feed the newbs (especially the ones who can't follow simple instructions, like not posting a question in a forum with a big sticky at the top that explicitly says "WARNING - DO *NOT* POST QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM - only tips/info/etc."), but at what point do we say... hey, this is how you do it, these 900 posts don't matter, or are outdated, or are duplicate questions...

I WAS being serious. Maybe it's just me, but I like learning, and I like helping those who like to learn. And don't tell me it's because people don't have time to read them...I work 60-70 hours a week, take post-graduate classes, raise 3 kids (which includes going to soccer games, homework, skating and dance lessons), and I still have time to read some threads, write up some guides, and help others.
If I want to flash something, I read the entire thread, so I learn from others' mistakes. When I had my Nexus One and I wanted Blackrose, I read every post in that Blackrose thread, up until I replaced the N1. I guess I have a hard time understanding someone who doesn't, and then complains that the guides should be better, and saying "this $%!& is ridiculous".
One of the things people need to develop skills for, if they're doing anything technical, is SEARCH. It helps a lot to filter out the crap, because it's indeed impossible or at least unreal to read threads of 300+ replies. But searching helps. Noobs should start working on their google-fu.
I agree that Blackrose thread isn't the simplest around. But just think - it's not more and not less, but bootloader replacement! The very thing that noobs SHOULD NOT TOUCH until they understand what they're doing.
So, the first response should be - if you don't understand how to do something, STAY AWAY UNTIL YOU DO. And indeed, go vent somewhere else. This isn't a forum for pleasing users.

[Q] Recovery on MF3

EDIT: Problem Resolved
Hello, after reading for hours, I now realize that I was wrong. Not totally new to rooting, etc. but this one caught me off guard. I updated to the latest MF3 OTA from ATT.
My problem is I tried to install TWRP from the goo manager, and now the recovery doesn't work on the phone at all. For the longest time it just kept rebooting the phone endlessly, and I could make it get into download mode.
I managed to get the phone to boot up by flashing the stock rom with odin in the bootloader section (did this by accident trying to recover the phone), and then went into download mode, and clicked cancel. It booted up fine.
If I try to enter recovery at all, it goes back into the endless boot cycle till I do some playing around with odin.
How to do I get the normal recovery working again? I would like to factory reset this and sell it for a GPE phone.
Thank you for your time.
Is there a downloadable mf3 ROM out there I can use to flash it with Odin?

Both of you should do a lot more reading before you mess with your phones. There are good stickies in the general forum which would be good starting points. If you had read them you might not be posting here now.

Not to be a stickler but it's the same person.
And not to be disrespectful, but the galaxyroot website says installing a custom recovery is fine but it must be rooted first - if not rooted go here - you go here and it shows the mf3 root method. Never said much else about it. I rarely use XDA to ask for information. The post always turns into a flame war with people who are extremely disrespectful. To me this forum is extremely mixed up with post, and other times the information isn't clear. I agree totally that I made the mistake, but I admit to my failure and now I'm trying to learn from it. I'll never understand why the people on this forum and I mean especially this forum love to bash others.

The reason people are annoyed is because people are constantly coming here with little knowledge, ignoring all the useful guides stickied at the top of the forums to try and help these exact same people, then rushing into an advanced procedure without a proper idea of what they're doing. Then they make a brand new thread to ask a question/beg for help, when it's already been answered 100 times, rather than searching for the answer first.
It's not something to get upset about because it's going to keep happening no matter what...but it is laughably annoying.
Anyways, I don't know what website galaxyroot is, but you need to get your info/guides/procedures/research right here at XDA...not at some random website with crappy information. That was your first mistake.

Absolutely!
And I might add...
Asking questions (regardless of how many times they have already been asked) is NOT learning. Learning IS searching and reading available information, no matter how much time it takes, until a person has complete knowledge about their device and what it is they are going to be doing to it. It is called "being responsible for your own actions":. People that keep asking the same questions over and over again are NOT trying to learn anything. They are just trying to get someone else that usually did take the time necessary to learn about their phone to get them out of a situation that they got themselves into while putting a minimum of their own effort into it. Just so they can go back and screw something up again.
People who ask valid questions AFTER they have searched, read, and learned are generally handled in a very friendly manner because they have displayed a willingness to actually learn about what they are doing. I've already said this in several other posts but it comes down to people that do things correctly versus people that are lazy, have a sense of entitlement, or feel as if their time is more valuable than others...it's just that simple.

The funny thing is: often the people who are accused of being mean/rude/unfriendly are people who spend an exceptional amount of time, each and every day, helping people in these forums! It's FREE tech support. You get "mean" when you deserve it and you are not entitled to complain about it, in my opinion.

Nevertheless people will ask everyday a question that has already been answered. I'm not quite understanding you. Instead of "checking another forum out to see if we have any solutions as of yet", why didn't you take the time to read what has been posted about it in this forum (as suggested)? People (here) even gave you a screenshot and instructions on how to find the EXACT links that would have helped. Was that not enough? I think you are being difficult just to be difficult...or do you really think that you shouldn't have to take the time to research and learn about something even when the links are handed to you? Maybe you should take a little of YOUR time to read and learn a little bit instead of expecting people to take THEIR time to answer your questions that have already been answered multiple times elsewhere, especially when people are nice enough to show you the way. What is your definition of "help"?
You don't have to answer any of this if you don't want to, I actually rather you didn't.

I'm not even going to fight with you. I'd suggest sticking on topic. Anyways I did thank those that helped so don't complain at me for not reading something you know about.
Nevertheless my recovery is working again now. Something that XDA doesn't have posted on it (at least for the mf3). Maybe I could be more of a nerd and explain things in more detail like I should have. I have been pretty sick these last few weeks. I'm a disabled veteran and have quite a lot of problems. You don't freaking know me. Don't tell me what I'm trying to be. Just because I'm not as familiar with this forum like you doesn't mean I didn't freaking try.
I am TRUELY sorry for the inconvenience I have put you through. I won't ask anymore questions here again. I'll go where I should have in the first place.
P.S. - read ALL my post before you decide to play God and tell me what I am. A post I referee to earlier was deleted so it kinda makes me look like a you know what.
Please don't try to bash me here anymore as I really never meant to offend anyone here. Its just really depressing to me that just because you found something and I didn't I'm the idiot.

No disrespect but you guys/gals with 1000+ posts, try to remember when you where single digit posts.
Some people dont "haunt" this forum day and night and know "common" issues/symptoms and their fixes.
I see lots of threads with what appear to be valid questions and just about all say "this has been covered - do some research".
I hope I never go to a Doctor and say "I dont feel well, my nose is running and feel itchy" and they respond "this has been covered - do some research".
Again no disrespect but WOW!!!!

If you find a doctor who provides around the clock support for free, let me know!
If that doctor posts the answers to most of your ailments right on the door when you walk in with a big READ THIS FIRST sign...and you walk right past it and ask him a question that's on the door, do you think that might get annoying?
Ok, I'm tired of this analogy!
