Leave it charged for about 2 hours in whatever condition it is.... Just plug the charger in.
After 2 hours , check the status of your phone.

Yup exactly it has been completely discharged
Try to leave it for few hours , unplug charger wait for few hours until phone gets cool down and then on it , it wil surely work

Phone got hot and won't turn ON anymore

Yo folks,
My bro's PLAY is on 2.3.3 [the latest update available here] which I had updated via SEUS. Today, after gaming a bit my bro told me that the battery dropped to 13% from well over 60-70%. Also, the phone was pretty hot...
I pulled the battery out and let it sit for over an hour. I then plugged in the battery, and now the Phone won't start - it just shows the blinking RED Led. Nothing on screen whatsoever. I don't think it's powering on at all.
Any idea what to do next, i'm pretty stumped
p.s. Phone is on stock firmware, unrooted.
well u could try another battery in there if thats possible
the xperia x10 has the same battery
so if u cant find some one with the same phone
u can use one of those

Thanks.. I actually have a X10 myself, but it's with my bro atm.. and i've come at another place earlier today for a couple of days with his PLAY.
I've plugged it in and it's still showing the blinking RED led. I'll wait and see what happens..
AFAIK the blinking red Light indicates the Battery is completley drained and does not have enought juice to turn the device on .. let it charge up a bit and see if it turns over.. then give the device a FULL charge .

Yeah... I have it hooked up to a charger for 2 hours now, still only blinking red led and not powering up.
Does it take that long?
try holding the power button down for like 15 seconds through multiple blinking red lights

Thanks.. did that now, but nothing happened - phone did not start up.
It's been hooked up to the wall charger for a little more than 2.5 hours now. Still only the steadily blinking red LED [led blinks every 5 seconds].
Any ideas? I'm starting to get worried
There is still warranty on it?

Yeah, my bro bought it like 3 months ago.
Only suggestion I have left is to take it to where you bought it and get it replaced under warranty.
If it's from a carrier call them and ask for a replacement mailed to you while it's being fixed cuz you don't want to use a different phone model.

Okay guys, I came back home, and charged the PLAY's battery upto 50% in my X10. So the PLAY now boots up & I also hooked it up to my machine and did a re-install of the 2.3.3 update. Now it's back to original state, with only the market logged in and my bro's contacts restored from SDcard.
However, it still does not charge as normal. It actually is DISCHARGING, instead of charging up when connected to the wall charger. And it still gets hot
Could it be a hardware fault?
did you try the x10 battery in the Play?

Yeah, with my X10's battery the PLAY booted up fine - but it was still getting very hot.
I had taken it to the dealer earlier today, but unfortunately the Sony Ericsson service center we have in my city was closed today because nobody showed up there due to heavy rains.
I have to go back there tomorrow... let's see.
Wish I could not show up to work because of rain
Try a different charger.

Well, the phone is at the service centre atm and they have kept the phone + charger [without battery tho].
They're going to reflash it n ****... I have to go back in a few hours to check the status.. wish me luck
Update : It is a hardware fault and I'm getting a replacement in 10-15 days. The service center asked me to leave the phone there and gave me a job sheet. The replacement phone will be sent to the dealer and i'll need to pick it up from him.

Need urgent Help!

Ok , I had this trouble with a battery before .. when I left it on charge, it would just decrease for no reason ... now I got a new battery after that battery refused to turn on my phone and gave me 3 red blinking lights.. It was working perfectly, turned on correctly, etc, etc... now I left it to charge, it went from 32 -> 29 percent in like 5/10 minutes!? Can someone help me.. Is this a phone problem? like I just bought a brand new battery for 10 dollars, and it's already having the same problem as before, All I did was go from stock, to FXP CM7 ...
I had the same 3 blinking red lights with my x10 also and took it to the ATT service center and they tried everything. I had to get a whole new unit. I hate to throw in the bomb here but that's probably what you have to do. There are a few threads though about this issue. If I come across one I will definetly send one your way. But try different charging techniques and ways. If you have the phone under warranty still through ATT, it will be a free replacement. I hope this helps. Please update thread to tell us what works. Every case is different with this one.

So your phone is turning on now with no more blinking red leds?

Ti know the exact reason, do these:
1. Charge your battery through a battery charger. Check whether it charges.
2. Flash new kernels. (i prefer thjap kernel). Now wipe battery stats frim xrecovery. Reboot and put to charge. Check its behavior now.
3. Insert the battery in other handsets and check.
You will come to know whether its your battery or kernel or motherboard that's creating problem.
Once solved, calibrate your battery. One important thing.... Use ac charger instead of usb.

Battery life improvement DHD

Hello,
I just tested what i will explain to you and i wanna share with you guys.
For me it works and i really feel an improvement with my battery life ( ~4 or 5 hours + ) and i think it is ok.
Now...what i've did...
1. Power on your DHD and let him to charge 8 / 10 hours
2. Unplug cable charger and power off your device. After that, when device is off, plug again charger and let it 1 hour for offline charging.
3. Unplug again cable charger, power on phone, wait till OS loading and start up, and immediately power off again.
4. Let the phone to charge again for 1 hour ( phone is power off )
5. Power on and let me know if you will see any improvement
IF AFTER THAT PROCESS YOU WILL FLASH ANOTHER ROM, ALL THAT STEPS MUST BE REPEATED.
.....and sorry guys for my f... bad english

I think it was not necessary to tell me that...Anyway sorry if my thread disturbed u so much.
I wrote that cause maybe someone will need 4-5 hours. If you will be like me ( going all over the places in Europe for meeting or doing business, it will count that poor 4-5 hours when will really need to send an e-mail and don't have a charger in your car for the moment...
I've found that all you really need to do is charge until currentwidget displays 0 ma draw, and restart once to let the phone top off the battery from the amount drained after the charge stops.

that was only the first part....here comes the second:
6. Turn off your phone.
7. Charge the phone until the next full moon.
8. Run around naked until the cops catch you.
After that you will never need to worry about your phone's battery life again because you will be locked up and won't need a phone.
But seriously:
Whoever actually considers doing this is a complete moron.
Its called bump charging was discussed 500 times already and is potentionally DAMAGING for your battery in the long run.

Whadda buncha ...! Are you really that sad of your life? Go tell that to a psychologist not us!
Thanks bogdy87, I love your thread! I could use an extra 4-5 hours as my battery only lasts for 4-8 hours!
thank you for your advise,i will try it by myself
Doing this will get you more use per charge, but 6 months of this and your battery will be shot. Charge limiters are put in place for a reason, lithium ion breaks down at too high of a charge. Your battery your choice, I get great life on mine and I just plug it in at night. Bump charging is short sighted. Personally I think this misleading thread should just be taken down before we get flooded with users that have ruined their battery or the voltage regulator on the board by doing this. What it essentially is doing is pushing a little more current into the battery before it completes its battery voltage checks.

Adaptive battery stats ROM
Some ROMS (Revolution) use an adaptive battery stats procedure which cuts out the need to go through the drain charge process. Just use the phone and it'll take care of itself. Battery drain is much more to do with use and processes than the battery stats file.

Hi,
I was right in the middle of a meeting, my SGS2 was on the table and it kept flashing for apparently no reason! By flashing I mean going from sleep mode (dark screen) to lock screen. There was non incoming call or messages, no running application. So, as this was weird to me and it was disturbing every one, I tough it could stop doing this if I restarted it. I made a long press of the on/of key thinking it would reset the system! Since this time the phone turns off to never wake up! Is there something I can do to have it back to life?
Thank you for your help!

When I got home I connected it to the computer, I've wait some times as nothing happened I took it to press the power buton but, it was so hot that I had to drop it to avoid burning! I unpluged it, I put a fan on if and, I removed the battery! after a while I replace the battery and plug it back to the computer, the same thing happend! actually it is pluged to a wall outlet for about half an hour, it's not hot, just a little bit but, stil there,s no sign of life!
BRO!!! SAME AS MEEEEE!! (similar i guess)
In the night after i flash miui v4 and neak kernel v2.0.6 (its old..) i plugged in the power and went to sleep. Next morning when i took my phone for my morning news THE PHONE WAS HOTTTTTT (very!) Ok..... i did the usual and checked my cpuspy mostly was 500mhz and 200 mhz NO DEEPSLEEP! dafuq? Ok reason found... So i guessed it was the kernel issue and so i flash a newer neak kernel. From there i went to school. Once there i checked my phone and it was warm.... cpuspy states decent deepsleep so i guess its just me but after awhile it got hot again! so i gave in and flash siyah 3.3.2 (used neak in the first place as some games wont work on siyah)(after initial boot from the new kernel there was major batt drain!!! From unplug to me flashing the newer neak kernel i already lost 60% batt wts??!? But after flashing siyah kernel i was left with 14% batt from 40%.... ok never mind i will just UV UC and other power saving stuff which helped a lot on previous days. Those "did" help and yeah all was cool till about 6% when the phone (you can guess right?) got hot.... HOT! So i gave in and powered down the phone..... i pulled the batt and separated the two for awhile. After the main body cooled i replaced the batt and rebooted the phone. After booting the batt was at 4% after seeing the batt level i powered the phone down and left it that way. Not even 1hr later the phone refused to boot.... no buzz no light no screens no nothing! I had to wait a few hours before getting home from school (omg yes it all happened in school zzomg ) now im at home with my charger and all (a different charger this time made sure it worked first) and no matter how i try to boot the phone plugged in with and with out the batt it refused!?!!?! WTS IS THIS BS?!?!
Sorry for the vulgarities and caps peeps...

I know nothing about Android, I'm new to this platform, my first smartphone was the N8, it has been stole, after I had an iPhone 3g I change for galaxy cause it was cheaper than iPhone 4 or 4s, andt it's a beautifull piece of hardware but, for all the rest I was disapointed and I've never liked it so much! I think I'm going to return to samsung to have an other one and when his back, I'm gonna sell it!
I think your usb/charger port is broken.. that is what happend to me. Try to charge the battery with an external charger to see if it turns on. Then get your phone to default (unroot/stock fw) if its working and let it repair. For me it just took 2 hours an i had my phone back for free.

Max means the maximum charging requirements. :/ How can a benchmark possibly change with chargers..

No need for the kernel change brother..
Callibrate it..callibration is like charging till 100% and emptying the battery till the phone shuts itself.
Repeat this 2-3 times..
There are many battery calibration apps too try them as you already have root..
Everything shall be fine..
And for now..pull the battery out..wait for 10 mins till all the phone gets cold.. turn it on again...and then charge..
