Hello,
I just tested what i will explain to you and i wanna share with you guys.
For me it works and i really feel an improvement with my battery life ( ~4 or 5 hours + ) and i think it is ok.
Now...what i've did...
1. Power on your DHD and let him to charge 8 / 10 hours
2. Unplug cable charger and power off your device. After that, when device is off, plug again charger and let it 1 hour for offline charging.
3. Unplug again cable charger, power on phone, wait till OS loading and start up, and immediately power off again.
4. Let the phone to charge again for 1 hour ( phone is power off )
5. Power on and let me know if you will see any improvement
IF AFTER THAT PROCESS YOU WILL FLASH ANOTHER ROM, ALL THAT STEPS MUST BE REPEATED.
.....and sorry guys for my f... bad english

I think it was not necessary to tell me that...Anyway sorry if my thread disturbed u so much.
I wrote that cause maybe someone will need 4-5 hours. If you will be like me ( going all over the places in Europe for meeting or doing business, it will count that poor 4-5 hours when will really need to send an e-mail and don't have a charger in your car for the moment...
I've found that all you really need to do is charge until currentwidget displays 0 ma draw, and restart once to let the phone top off the battery from the amount drained after the charge stops.

that was only the first part....here comes the second:
6. Turn off your phone.
7. Charge the phone until the next full moon.
8. Run around naked until the cops catch you.
After that you will never need to worry about your phone's battery life again because you will be locked up and won't need a phone.
But seriously:
Whoever actually considers doing this is a complete moron.
Its called bump charging was discussed 500 times already and is potentionally DAMAGING for your battery in the long run.

If you have an issue have a word with yourself not the thread maker.. if you think its pointless jog on. Some people will try this as people work etc and need there phones. Not for me either but he's entitled to post it if he thinks it works.

Whadda buncha ...! Are you really that sad of your life? Go tell that to a psychologist not us!
Thanks bogdy87, I love your thread! I could use an extra 4-5 hours as my battery only lasts for 4-8 hours!
thank you for your advise,i will try it by myself
Doing this will get you more use per charge, but 6 months of this and your battery will be shot. Charge limiters are put in place for a reason, lithium ion breaks down at too high of a charge. Your battery your choice, I get great life on mine and I just plug it in at night. Bump charging is short sighted. Personally I think this misleading thread should just be taken down before we get flooded with users that have ruined their battery or the voltage regulator on the board by doing this. What it essentially is doing is pushing a little more current into the battery before it completes its battery voltage checks.

Adaptive battery stats ROM
Some ROMS (Revolution) use an adaptive battery stats procedure which cuts out the need to go through the drain charge process. Just use the phone and it'll take care of itself. Battery drain is much more to do with use and processes than the battery stats file.

Preparing...
With the phone in the on position.
Fully charge the battery with the phone on... (until the led turns green.)
Once the led turns green, unplug the charger until the led goes off.
After the led goes off, plug the charger back in. When the led turns green , power off the phone.
now.... with the phone fully powered off...
1. Unplug the charger.
2. Wait until led goes off.
3. Plug charger back in until the led turns green. When it turns green, unplug the charger again and go to step 1.
4. repeat steps 1 and 3, 10 times. This may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 mins per cycle. Typically only about 1 minute. though.
DO NOT DRAIN THE BATTERY. The goal is not to empty the battery and recharge like ni-cads (those have memory, these don't). These are lithiums, so we need to do the opposite...
And lets all sing the hokie pokie and shout
The cells were not charged evenly, so each cell holds different charges. So when you charge it, 1 cell may be 95% another 100 and 98 etc... so when you balance the cells, they function like they are suppose to.
this phone does not have a cell balancer built into it.
So charge, wait til its almost dead, charge again til full, then do the process w the phone off?

I'm sorry this guide doesn't really make much sense. the led won't be on if the phone is unplugged so how will I know if its on Orange or not? also is the phone on or off when I'm doing this?

changed the instructions on top, i suck at writing.
I suppose this might explain why sometimes my phone plunges to about 90% almost immediately after taking it off the charger, but then battery decreases at a "normal" rate after that?
So were reconditioning our batteries...
I'm 99.9% sure the battery is single cell...it wouldn't make sense to have a dual cell 3.7v LiPo unless you wanted heavy discharge.
I don't see how this will make any charge other than the phone not topping the battery off...which in that case an external charger would do a much better job is so.
I tried this and my battery has been holding steady at 100% with the screen off for the last five minutes so something worked.
So is this a one time thing to re-condition the battery or will we have to do this more then once

That's true, won't hurt anything. WTF I'll give it a try, maybe get proven wrong and learn something too..
I gave this a try and I must say that it is working. Before I did this, as soon as I would take my phone off the charger it would immediately drop to 96%. Now as david279 said, it will actually stay on 100% for awhile and have better standby time. Good find joker, I do see a difference.
How did you find out about the cells not being charged evenly?
WOW...this actually works. This should be posted on other forums so ppl know about it.

I was also told to charge for 4 hours.. but it is no longer needed for Li-Ion,Li-poly batteries.. even the user manual doesn't say anything about initial charging..
Page 12 of the user manual..
"When the battery is fully charged (the battery icon is
no longer moving), unplug the travel adapter from the
device and then from the power outlet."
Hmm, thanks. Can anyone verify that i don't need to charge it for 8 hours or whatever before turning it on?
I got it yesterday and I just put it on charge and after a few minutes I turned it on and started using it and honestly battery life is great so far so imagine that, if it's good from the beginning then after 1-2 weeks it will be amazing!
just use it anytime you want, keep it on charge if you want while using it, nothing bad will happen.

Wicked. Means i don't have to wait about for ages without using it. Gonna mess around with it whilst it's charging.
of course, some will tell you otherwise....i've used several phones just like that, and didn't have any problems with battery life. But never say never....
Is there somebody who tested this battery?
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...ery-for-for-htc-desire-hd-softbank-001ht.html
I am looking forward to buy a new one because I am not satisfied with the original battery.
I have it since it came out. For me it lasts a bit longer than stock as it has ~20% more juice. I'm satisfied with it!
Usually get 5h of screen on time during 2 days - while using the internet (most of the time on wifi) and playing some games with my setup. It all depends on your usage, rom and stuff like brightness of course so no one can guarantee you anything
Let me tell you what I get right now
1 hour talk time
1 hour 55 m screen on time with lowest brightness
I think it is WORSE it may be my radio or is the battery?
The radio depends alot on your carrier and location. Results are different for everyone. I have very results overall with the one in my sig and according rils. And your usage is different from mine i never have more phonecalls than ~15mins per day.
You can't compare battery life when you have different usage ;-) but as i said the mugen battery has a little more juice and radio can make a difference.
I use the Mugen battery. For about 2-3 hours of daily screen time, lots of texting, lots of surfing the web, the occasional short phone call, I still have about 50% left at the end of the day. Thats 8am to about 7pm around abouts.
Thx everybody I will get myself a new battery and I will try another radio but I can' t remember how to change radio somebody can tell me how to change it ?
Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597
Thx mate for the link

You don't really need to do anything with the battery once you have put it in. It is recommended to calibrate it when you flash a new ROM though.
To calibrate:
1: Charge battery for 30min past where it says 100%
2: Go into Clockworkmod
3: Unplug charger
4: Wipe battery stats
5: Reboot
6: Let battery drain until it turns off by itself
7: Repeat step 1

Just like other android smart phones even my Arc has a very short battery backup and at times it gets heaten up...mostly while playing games! The reason is obvious, i use custom kernel and push the cpu frequency to the hardware's limit. But to be honest battery backup on stock rom or kernel was not good either. So i tried few tricks and they worked out pretty well.
1. Try to charge your phone after shutting it down.
{My take : Your phone will not only get charged pretty fast but it also wouldn't get heaten up at times!}
Frequency : whenever its possible
2. Fully drain the battery and then put it on charging. Yha its quite same as point number 1 as the phone would be getting charged in the power off mode.
{My take : your phone's battery backup will increase if done at regular intervals}
Frequency : atleast twice a week.
3. Whenver possible charge your phone via usb cable (desktop pc or laptop)
{My take : some might have felt that the charger and the phone gets freaking hot while charging...well i did. Its cause of the varience in voltage supply. }
I myself tried this stuff and it worked pretty well for my Arc. Difference aint huge..but still its worth it!

- Make a CWM backup
- Use the phone as usual until battery runs low
- Advanced Restore backup the /batt partition
- Enjoy fully charged battery
Problem?

1. Who will turn the phone off when charging? Remember that you CANNOT RECEIVE ANY CALLS while doing this.
2. This is not recommended twice a week, this must be done all the time in my opinion.
3. What's the catch with the USB charging?!
Anyway, as I saw your other posts, you're just trying to say a phrase in 3-4 replies which I find if offensive.
This [how to] guide is nothing but useless.
The method used by me as follows:
Try to avoid charging the phone when your battery is not in the red zone. Don't plug it into computer with the USB cable when you can use WIFI file transfer.
Remember that every battery has a life cycle of about 500 charges. When it will reach this point, it will drain faster and faster. So don't charge it for 10 minutes unless you're forced to do it.
I'm sure that maybe some links to other sugestions will emerge on this thread, but I don't care because this is what I'm doing with my phone and it's working like a charm. The phone I ditched for my arc S was a P910i which lasted for 5 and half years with the original battery, still getting 3 days out of it with normal use.
My laptop is 2 years and 3 months old and the battery still lasts more than 3 hours (new lasted for 4+). I keep it out of the laptop while on charger and I use it only when I really need it.
I hope this helps you!

You dont have any right to say any thing about anybody's work....cause you didnt try it yourself.! And you said about charging the phone when the battery is in red zone...well it seems you are the one whos repeating things...as i already said that! And the thing you said was quite useless about the laptop as it got both A.C. and D.C. transformer...which unfortunately no phone has. And hence we cant charge the phone after removing the battery (try it )
Amd for the record...i do the same things woth my laptop and it gives a battery life of 6.5 hours, the funny part being that the manufacture assures the battery to last just 3.5-4 hours!
SO JUST BUG IT!

1. He never said to turn off your phone while charging. He said to turn your phone off and then charge I.E. Offline charging. READ before you POST.
2. Rechargeable batteries are not meant to be drained EVERYTIME before you charge. Do that too often and you will damage your battery permanently. This information came from various reliable sources and not your opinion.
3. It has been reported, not proven, numerous times by members and developers that battery lasts longer when charged by USB. From personal experience I am pretty sure it does.
You are better off learning to read and knowing your facts before going on lecturing others about posting junk, because what you posted WAS useless crap.

Hi, I just got my phone today and the sales man was saying something about training the battery but I was joning on the phone so much I didn't actually hear him. So I think it's you completely drain it until it shuts down and then, do you charge it as it's off or can I turn it on and charge it? How many times do I repeat this? Is this all I need to do. Thanks people!

I bought a new Battery some time ago the selling guy explained how to do it BEST:
It's all about the first 3 loads which are essential for the whole life of the battery!
load it until it's full in switched off state (only the first time) and wait until there's shown "100%" in the big Battery picture when you push home button (still in switched off state). Then it's at 4200mV
IMPORTANT: do not unpluguntil it's really full!!! (That's the most important, as the ions only are "pushed" straight in the "right direction" if you don't interrupt charging.)
boot the phone and let it drain to zero without plugging charger (or USB-cable)! Means until pone shuts down itself. Plug the charger then and boot the phone or not - doesn't matter
First 3 rounds from 4200 to 0 "mV" without any charging. Means until pone shuts down itself.
after three loads keep the accumulator between ~40 and ~90 % of load. That' best for a long life.
generally it doesn't matter if phone is on/off for charging and it does not matter how often you plug the charger. Of course I wouldn't do that every five minutes....
Sorry for my bad technical English...
