Screen Flicker Issue - G2 and Desire Z General

Anyone else got this? Basically, when the phone screen isn't moving, such as when I'm reading some text, the screen flickers. For example, whenever I'm reading a post on xda, the white background around the text starts to flicker, and it is really noticeable in the dark while just reading posts in my rom thread, and its very distracting. (Happens when keyboard is open and closed)
Anyone else have this? Anyone know what part I should buy to replace it?

i had this a few months ago and now the phone is on low all the time cant turn up, the brightness it still flickers a bit brighter every now and then.
if you have the same as me it isnt the screen i was thinking its was the ribbon cable and couldnt find a cheap replacement based on a hunch,
now i seen more people getting this i would guess its the driver board for the screen,
not looked in to this though and dont want to folk out money on a phone i am looking to replace as soon as the driod 4 gets GSM.

Speck of light issue near HTC logo

Hey guys,
I have noticed that there is a speck of light coming out of my phone around where the soft buttons are and the HTC logo.
Is this wide spread?
Heres a picture: http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/7376/photo2ie.jpg
Any help?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Either I'm blind or it's nothing there
It looks like a stuck pixel on a screen. I circled it in red.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I don't have this speck and I wouldn't worry about it, it's hardly visible in the pic you took and there's no way you'd get a replacement for such a tiny (for want of a better word) "defect"!
I saw an evo4g had the same issue, any way i can get the screen glass replaced, its pretty irritating
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
technically its a 'defect' its not related to dead pixels its an actual defect i reckon if you kick up a fuss you could get it exchanged
the retailer would probably just resell it tho.
if it were me id be sending off emails with images ect and try and push for an exchange
Dont want to be rude:
But this is pretty silly!
Im sure you would find it an issue if you kept noticing it.

yeah i agree i bought a monitor once and it had 1 stuck yellow pixel it didnt qualify as a defect because there was only 1 but it annoyed me so much i kept complaining and kicking up a stink from where i bought it till they eventually replaced it. imo if you got it from a store go down and complain it would def annoy me
Cant really do much as im in australia and imported from the UK. Ill probably just pay to get the screen replaced. Just wanted to know if any others experienced the same issue with the
DHD.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i have the same issue
I have it not always noticeable but i know its there. Also have a bit of defect in the plastic screen at the top left corner same thing really I just get on with it. I'll probably drop it in the sink at some point and get a new one from insurance or it will get broken at some point anyway with such a big screen

[Q] Ever seen THIS issue before?

hey guys, my friend just got a MT4G, non rooted (no interest in rooting ).
and he was "showing off" to me today when his hardware buttons suddenly stopped working. only the trackpad worked when he scrolled using it. all the rest of the buttons stopped working
finally i had to do a battery pull and reboot.. not sure if that fixed the issue (class was starting lol). i'll ask him again on monday.
but just wondering, has any of you guys encountered this issue before?
he's got S-On, and the stock gingerbread 2.3.4.
Haven't heard that about the hardware? I have heard about stock froyo randomly deleting all text messages tho.

Kinda, the back button on my phone gets stuck sometimes to the point where I can't push it/use it.

Build quality on the mt4g was never the greatest.
My home button stopped working, so I sent my phone to HTC to have it repaired.

Yea, I have the white one & my physical buttons suck. My back & other buttons often get stuck & my power button feels pretty loose. My battery door is also a little rickety. My boyfriend (i'm a girl, btw) has a black one & his buttons are much better, no sticking, no looseness. Kinda a crapshoot with these phones...

Stuck/dead pixel!

My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.
i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.
Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

My dead pixel I guess just happens to be in a place where I rarely notice it. I tried one of those dead pixel detect and fix apps but it didn't fix anything.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

The screen will still flex. I am not sure whether it would work or not on these devices, I just put that out there hoping it might help.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.

Internal Short- repairable?

I realize one can't say for sure before opening the device up what is causing the issue. That being said...
My phone started having color banding/greenish hue a week ago. It's progressed to intermittent all blue or yellow where there's supposed to be any color (like an app frame), gets random SOD (and always after being in my pocket).
I can cause a coloration issue by squeezing case. It will go away after tapping the screen. reboots after SOD take a few tries and are painfully slow.
I started to take it apart then realized I'll probably mess it up if I don't know what I'm looking for.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is this sort of short easy for a non electronics technician to isolate?
Thanks!

Most likely your LCD is dying, but could be a motherboard issue as well.
Low chances(to null) to get it repaired by yourself...
I'm guessing it's not as simple as finding a loose connector and pushing it back on?

[Solved] Backlight Screen Problem

I have a backlight problem with my HTC EVO Shift. The backlight has stopped working consistently. I believe it has something to do with the cable in between the slider part. When my phone is completely shut, the backlight is not working. When my phone is completely open (keyboard exposed) the backlight is not working. when my phone is in the halfway position (keyboard partly exposed) the backlight illuminates the screen and I am able to use the phone. It is very difficult to continue to use the mobile device in the halfway point. I have another mobile device on the way but I will need to see the screen in order to get the rest of my data off, or at least make a nandroid backup and go from there.
If it is not the cable then can someone point me in the right direction. If it is the cable/screen could someone tell me where to get a replacement. I am capable of doing repairs. I would rather not if it is avoidable.
thank you xda community.

If you edit your first post, the best way is to just add "[SOLVED]" to the beginning of your thread title
To give thanks, from the app either tap on the persons post and then hit the thanks popup, or on the computer theres a Thanks button under their name
