Question in wrong place - Xperia Arc General

Unfortunately, I discovered the issuance of a bad ice-cream for the Arc S
Video recording has been canceled voice binary (stereo)
I hope you are improving this version and thank you ...

I'm getting to read only bad things about ICS release for Arc S.
Is it worth it really ???

Yes, issuing more than wonderful
But video capture is very bad
I hope to be considered in the matter ..

yeah, the video seems very laggy, and it's only 26fps for me.

^^^ very good point.
Plus I would imagine that utilising a 720p resolution is goig to have a major impact on the already mediocre framerate.
IMO theres not much point having 720p recording if its going to be at 5fps.
Hopefully im wrong and it will be silky smooth at 720p
Well on robsbay.co.uk it has said for a while now that 720p is defiantly working but isn't in any builds yet.
I'm not sure if he actually means defiantly or definitely...
X2 on 720 not being worth it. High resolution video through a crummy lens is just a bad idea. Giant crappy video is still crappy video. Pick up a Kodak Zi8 if you want HD video on the cheap.

I disagree... yes, the quality will always be worse than a real video camera but the same applies to still images. DSLRs are head and shoulders above the best camera phone, so would you say camera phones might as well have stayed at VGA resolution instead of 5 or 8 MP common these days?
Unless there are framerate issues I'd love HD video capture. Some phones it's not so great, but some are pretty impressive given everything (the Samsung Galaxy S seem to do pretty crisp 720p).

thx for all the answers guys, and yes after what ive read all over the internet the hd2 could be getting 720p camcorder and a pretty good one if the framerate is enough/sorted

Whichever way you look at it I was the first to answer the OP and it was done in a friendly manner.
Since then, you and the other muppet have flamed me with useless posts while not even mentioning the OP.
Again, I'm brought back to my comments about irony and idiots

So any news for 720p on Android? WP7 can do it, so it's possible.
Any progress?
We need that for Android

continues auto focus in video mode ?

So. The leak road map for 2.1 shows cont auto focus will be available on x10. Is this the first handset on android to do so?
Anyone excited?
Even though I am into photography and video,
I never owned a device that could do that.
So, YES, I am very excited about it!
That's a nice feature, but I'm just hoping the 720p records well...I've seen a couple recent phones where it's just terrible...
Yes, I am wet ! :-D
They are saying it wil be like Vivaz. If 720p and autofocus will be anything like that of Vivaz then no doubt this will be the best camera on Android ( for videos) .

720p recording 10/15/20/25/30fps

could anyone fix the Sw of camera for 30fps recording in night? look at samsung galaxxy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL06Y4hTvKw
cmon! hey guys
this is probably possible but it isnt a vital issue hence it will not get a fix anytime soon.
you may find that changing settings to auto instead of manual might make it smoother, its not that bad i did a test video and media coder reported it @ 25 fps which is good enough
If you owned SGS before DHD you will be screaming with anger, i know i am, regarding camera quality ...
sorry i meant to say change it from auto to manual, i just realised i had it the other way around in my previous post
well hopfully a previous sgs owner with the knowledge to do it will come along

HTC are renowned for ****ty video recording and pictures, I's surprised you didn't look it up beforehand. It's something that HTC clearly doesn't care about as they aren't doing anything about improving it, it's a shame really.
obv in normal daylight it is ok i can get 30 FPS no problem. after that video is great anyone can extract htc camera .apk and repair it? for example cook some xml config files . i found there fps_layout.xml

Video recording

Hello everyone
when I watch a video recorded by arc I hear a massive amount of noise, and the sound is messed up, for ex, I recorded a video of my car revving from arc and my old phone, you do the comparison.
I want to know if my phone is faulty or not.
arc: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icxre4ee_E0
my old phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKDCkVicVyg
I also got a similar issue..I got a video but the video image and the sound dont match with each other.like the sounds play ahead of the video..This happened in HD mode

OMFG... seriously.. have you never heard of the SEARCH function...???
SEARCH BEFORE CREATING A NEW THREAD.. IT'S FORUM RULES.
What MrIceman is trying to gently say is:
It is a known issue and we are all hoping that a software fix will be released within the next few weeks ( hopefully not months )

LP6 Doesn't Feel Like Android 4.0!

I have the white GT-I9100M with LP6.
1. First of all the camera seems to be the old camera. The shutter speed hasn't improved, and the panorama feature hardly compares to how it works on the Nexus.
2. The launcher and widgets don't compare to the Nexus ones.
3. Where the hell is NFC??
Overall this feels more like a ICS-themed rom rather than a real ICS comparable to the Galaxy Nexus.

You're going to be waiting for a LONG time for a firmware update to bring NFC to come to this phone.
1. It's still beta.
2. It's still beta.
3. NFC will enable when it's your birthday. So for the sake of everyone who has a GSII, when's your birthday?
There is also weird differences between the S2 and the GN. For example, the GN only has a 1.3mp front camera and supports 720p videochat. While the S2 has a 2mp front camera and doesn't support 720p videochat.
The LP6 beta is buggy and slow and drains battery. If it is this bad right now, we'll probably be waiting for months for ICS to be released!
Yay, another ICS thread. We haven't got enough of these in this forum.

Does anyone know if 720p videochat support is something that can be activated in the future with a firmware upgrade, or is it something that is hardware restricted?

1) The GN isn't beta. LP6 is.
2) The camera firmware doesn't change with LP6. So it's obvious it hasn't changed.
3) AOSP vs Samsung ROM is never representative
4) Final samsung release is slated for end of march anyway, so yeah... we'll be waiting months for final features.
5) ????
6) Profit!
If you like the GN so much, buy it and give me your sgs2.
Oh and NFC isn't a software upgrade. It's a non existant hardware inside our phones.

Your numbers don't correspond with the questions. What does your #5 and #6 answer?
And you didn't respond to the 720p videochat support question you referenced in your response.

Your second question was answered by point #4. Read between the lines...
Your first question though, I had 5 and 6 to illustrate that humor is a nice passtime for someone watching the Canadiens losing 2 to 1. Also that there's obviously a few things missing in your research/reasoning to get the bigger picture on these two phones...

NFC? Really? You must be kidding!
I want my next software update to add an extra 2 cores and 1GB of ram as well as another 3 battery's to my phone, pretty plz.
slightly srs answer:
Camera shutter speed = Hardware
NFC = hardware issue
Samsung builds will always be samsung themed, they are not going to totally change the look of the rom, so yes, it will always look like a samsung/touchwizz themed rom.
Also beta is beta!
Derp derp.

Can anyone answer this question? I'm guessing that if the S2 doesn't support 720p videochat now, then it is incapable of this. It is sad though- that a 1.3mp cam on the GN will support it while a 2mp cam on the S2 doesn't!

It WAS answered.
Ok let me clarify if it's still not clear: It's a feature that probably wasn't added yet. If a camera at 1.3 supports it, most likely a camera at 2mp will support it if the proper software goes with it. Most likely the hardware codec support wasn't added and that's needed. But anyway, why would you even want 720p video chat?? Sounds like too much bandwidth to me.

There are many Logitech cams which are 2mp and 5mp, yet don't support 720p videochat or Skype HD. In such cases it is obviously a hardware restriction.
The Droid Razr is advertised as supporting 720p videochat, and so is the GN. However the Droid Razr is still on Gingerbread. If the S2 was capable or upgradeable for 720p videochat, wouldn't it have been advertised already?

That's what's marvelous about a dev community in open source... If samsung doesn't do it, someone could.
I've seen cams that had no 720p support suddenly get it by dev work. So no, hardware limitations is NOT always the case.
But seriously, if you love the nexus so much, sell your sgs2 and go buy it. Coming on a cell phone's forum to say it sucks compared to another phone is never well received.

i missed the part where this was beginning to be a GN thread...i beg you bro read their answers...its all there!
I don't really know what android 4 feels like and what I can do is with whatever roms are available right now, I try to pick the 'best' one. Yep they are all betas pretty much but some are better than others. Got to be happy with what we've got mate.
There are some differences, but on things like camera/nfc there'll be hw differences too.
Some of samsungs apps are different, but that doesn't mean they're always less good. For example they're by default black, oled friendly themed. Contacts as links which I don't think AOSP has.
The LP6 rom can work well - fast, good battery life, pretty stable for a leaked version. You can run apps that need ICS. The new task manager, notification features are there. I actally like touchwiz (except for no alpha sort), but can install a different launcher (like nova) if I want to.
Sure there are some differences from stck android - and one could have a huge debate on the whole issue of manufacturer theming but samsung aren't imo doing a bad job at all here.

Anyways, back on topic. Megapixels don't have anything to do with camera quality. That is determined by lens quality. Megapixels refer to what SIZE image is produce I.e. HxW or something like 1920x1080. So if you want a higher quality picture you need a higher quality lens. Look into dslr and other cameras and you will see what I mean. Image color, clarity and focus is determined more by the overall quality of lens versus how many megapixels it has.
