as I checked the internal storage fs is generic hierarchy (I have not yet seen this type )
but I know that such Fs supports files larger than 4gig
so when formatted the tf what kinds of fs will manage it
if you format using format option in settings then you will get fat32 for microsd

Right now its FAT, I never formatted it, I just jammed it into the device.
Should I format FAT32? Anyone know?
TIA.
Best to stay FAT if you format to FAT32 your device may not recognize your card. If you ever do format it - do it on the device using storage tools or sktools.
I've used only one of my two 1gb mini-SD's to hold PocketMusic program files and MP3's. I think it was formatted FAT to begin with, but I was unable to copy more than 400mb to the card until I reformatted it to FAT32. It then loaded up with MP3's and there have been no problems. I did the formatting on the PC, not the MDA.
Any card >2gb will require FAT32 formatting, as 2gb is the limit for FAT16.
hi i have the 16gb sdcard which is fat32 and i want to change it to NTFS because i need to put files on it larger then 4gb and when i tried NTFS android said it needs to reformat is there anything i can do?
Not sure if Android supports NTFS. But the driver (ntfs-3g) might be able to be included in the kernel.
NTFS will reduce the lifespan of your SD card too.
edit: If you have an EXT partition, stick the files on there then access them with a file manager?
Rooted and running Prime 1.4, I formatted and partitioned the micro sd card with sdext, swap space, and fat32 storage partitions similar to a rooted phone's sd card. Now my computer will not recognize the micro sd card. Do I need the sdext and swap space, or can I do a complete fat32 or NTFS partition?

For me, I just use the normal Win format command to have a FAT32 partition.
Which file format is best for read/write speed??
fat32 or exfat
I got a SD card that I've formatted in my phone but I just tried to copy a movie (a copy of a Blueray I own) of around 6GB to the card but it fails. I then removed the SD card and inserted it into my Windows 10 computer and tried again after which I'm told the file is too big for the file system on the card. There is plenty of free space on the SD card.
Isn't it possible to have large movie files on the SD card? If it is: What is the trick?
Which file system has the SD been formatted with? See the SD Properties in Windows.

The phone always formats to FAT32 - and if I format to NTFS the phone complains that the SD card is damaged and has to be formatted. It can't even read the NTFS formatted card.
FAT32 is limited to 4GB max file size.
You must format the SD card with exFAT, which also Windows reads/formats perfectly.

Do you know if the S7 Edge can work with exFAT or ?
Yes, of course, I use an exFAT formatted 64 GB SD card in my S7E...
Great - I'll format my card right away then! Thanks
