Micro SD Card Partions

Rooted and running Prime 1.4, I formatted and partitioned the micro sd card with sdext, swap space, and fat32 storage partitions similar to a rooted phone's sd card. Now my computer will not recognize the micro sd card. Do I need the sdext and swap space, or can I do a complete fat32 or NTFS partition?

For me, I just use the normal Win format command to have a FAT32 partition.

when formatted what's the file system of micro SD

as I checked the internal storage fs is generic hierarchy (I have not yet seen this type )
but I know that such Fs supports files larger than 4gig
so when formatted the tf what kinds of fs will manage it
if you format using format option in settings then you will get fat32 for microsd

[Q] How do you mount an ext4 sdcard on CM10?

After formatting the card on linux via gparted, android shows the sd card as damaged and asks me to format it? How does one mount an ext4 card?
I am just guessing, but since the SD has to be compatible as USB Mass Storage Device, it must be formatted in FAT32. Windows for example cannot handle linux/UNIX specific partitions like ext3 or ext4.

File size on SD card

I got a SD card that I've formatted in my phone but I just tried to copy a movie (a copy of a Blueray I own) of around 6GB to the card but it fails. I then removed the SD card and inserted it into my Windows 10 computer and tried again after which I'm told the file is too big for the file system on the card. There is plenty of free space on the SD card.
Isn't it possible to have large movie files on the SD card? If it is: What is the trick?
Which file system has the SD been formatted with? See the SD Properties in Windows.

The phone always formats to FAT32 - and if I format to NTFS the phone complains that the SD card is damaged and has to be formatted. It can't even read the NTFS formatted card.
FAT32 is limited to 4GB max file size.
You must format the SD card with exFAT, which also Windows reads/formats perfectly.

Do you know if the S7 Edge can work with exFAT or ?
Yes, of course, I use an exFAT formatted 64 GB SD card in my S7E...
Great - I'll format my card right away then! Thanks
