What kernel you use ?
If it's Doom Kernel v4, you need to flash wifi module.

I want to ask can a kernel cause a screen disorder?
Why am i asking this (according to myself, stupid) question?
Because when I flash HCDR.Jacobs v4.1 or v4.2 kernel on any ROM it causes the screen to flicker and screen becomes snowy while turning on. And when i flash any other kernel, problem disappears.
And, by jacob, that kernel can be flashed to any ROM.
P.S. Can you tell me whats the best kernel according to you for wildfire (include link to the kernel thread please)?
Which ROM are you using?
If you are using CM7, stick with the stock kernel included in it. (nFinity by arco). It's the best one IMO, because arco has optimized it a lot for the Wildfire.
Jacob's kernel v4.2 may cause stability issues because it is clocked at 768MHz OC by default, and, many Wildfire's hang or are unstable at that speed. It's unlikely though why its happening in v4.1, but, in any case, its highly recommended to stick with the CM7 stock kernel as stated.
If for any other ROM, use this one. It's the same as arco's nFinity and Jacob's kernel, but, modified a bit to run on other ROMs

Kernel is something like a bridge between the hardware and software to communicate with each other. Eg: oc kernel allows overclocking.

hey, whats wifi n mode?
Wifi N is a type of wifi networking.
The WF doesn't have support of it afaik.
Which sucks, because my home wifi is n <-<

I am currently at Neutrino rom V2.5p2 GT
my phone have some problem that it cannot wake up after a long period of idle, such as EVERYDAY I wake up in the morning but I cannot wake my phone up. I have to pull my battery off and back in to reboot the device. This problem made me fail to receive morning calls for a whole week.
I am using Juicedefender, but not sure if it is the cause of problem.
Since this is the first custom rom I flash and I love Neutrino, but I think stability is a must to me. Are the V2.5p2 EE or V2.2 having a better stability? should I try them? or any patch can fix this problem?
Thank you so much!
same as u with 2.5p2 ee

Sleep of death as its known, not always rom specific many of us experience it on different roms under different loads under different situations.
There's a few of us trying to track down the underlying problem, but at the moment we are all trying out different things which some work for people and not others
so agreed with the above just wait for the next build maybe that will work for you.

Like i've said in the Neutrino thread - it's a CM7 bug that was present in the original weekly.
Flash the 023 kernel, wipe dalvik, reboot.
023 seems to have fixed the problem for me. Going through a second day without random reboots, sleep of death.
Link to the kernel can be found in the faux dev thread, but it's also in my sig.
I think my phone must be hate custom ROMs because it have SOD for Jokersax and Turl CM9 as well as Neutrino ROM. Did flash some faux kernel but solve nothing. Still running Jokersax CM9 although SOD simply because of ICS. My own opinion, don't try CM9 unless you are ready to stay with it until official release.

I didn't enable wifi. Just using data plan. The setting for 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' is Always as default.
I'm using N_01.100.00R baseband, could it be the issue? Any baseband recommend to use in Asia?
I follow what Jokersax said, format /system, wipe user data, wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM. I manage to flash every single ROM and boot normally. Weird.

I am using the default ATT baseband N_01.77.30P.
But from my experience, the reboot / sleep of death issue is most definitely related to WiFi.
Try setting Wifi sleep to "off when the screen is off" and switching to 023 kernel.
Haven't had any issues with this set up in the last 2 days.

Read from other thread with the workaround solution by installing Load Monitor or Wake Lock to prevent phone to go into deep sleep and fail to wake up. Now my phone run at 216Mhz instead of deep sleep when screen off. So far no SOD experience yet. But don't know how my battery life ink this case. Will update again after more observation.
[edit] no luck for load monitor. Get a SOD after 2 hours. Trying wake lock now. So far 6 hours no SOD. Will keep update.

I think the problem is solved with the 023 kernal! 2 days after flashing with no problem even set the wifi to be always on.
I think V2.6 EE version is worth trying since it include the CM7 kernal and claimed to have amazing battery efficient! But the V2.6 version introduced Launcherpro and many changes so I am not going to change it at this point, maybe a few days later.
Can I just flash the V2.6 stock CM7 kernal on my V2.5p2?
where can I find that CM7 kernal???

Why would you want the 2.6 kernel on 2.5p2?
For me 023 fixed the SOD issues.
Anyway, if you want to try the 2.6 kernel, download the rom, extract boot.img from the archive and flash it via fastboot, wipe dalvik, reboot.
If i were you, I would switch to 2.6 entirely. Haven't had any SODs in the past 24 hours since flashing.

This is Wifi fix for the ICS kernel by shaky156.
Please see the below link for the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26159482&postcount=3730
Also, i added the latest adreno drivers into the zip. So the zip contains the following things
1. Latest N1 kernel from Shaky156 (I didnt modify this)
2. Recompiled wifi kernel module
3. Latest adreno libraries from Qualcomm
Please flash it from recovery.
Note:
It has been known to work with the latest Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce and AOKP for Passion roms..
No idea about any other roms. try it on your own risk..
Edit 31/04/2012:
I have made a modified version of new Evervolv kernel. Please check it out here..

SUPER!!
It's super smooth! much better performance on TexasICS! I could find wifi signal but didn't try to login. would try it later.
I can confirm I have 100% working wifi after flashing this on texasice's ics rom....and OMG TEH SMOOTH.
glad to know
glad to know it works..
the smoothness is due to the HWA changes by Shaky156 and the Qualcomm driver.
please refer to this thread for more details..

I didnt release the wifi module when i released the kernel for test hence why it doesnt work on some roms, sense 4 doesnt have wifi working in first place

Fantastic kernel it is too. Using it on BCM ICS and in conjunction with GreenPower free I'm getting fantastic battery life.

Or are there no updates to the kernel? On the dev thread Shaky says there are.

For those with wifi problems under some franco kernel, what do you have under

Sorry if options don't check accurately. My NOTE wears spanish language.

I flashed franco kernel r6 and the wifi issue is still alive and the precise issue is the device after installing the kernel fails to obtain IP address , Contacted the developer with this issue and he said its a strange and rare problem to which he doesn't have an answer and I have been working on this from last couple of days, day in day out , there seems to be no solution I could invent nor i could find on this site or any where else. I tried to replace my franco kernel with Abyss kernel and after my phone doesn't boot at all . I am struck .

His kernel is not even remotely similar in architecture to the CM9 kernel.
My guess is that it's because he changed the default power management mode during suspend from PM_FAST to PM_MAX - PM_MAX may seem like a great thing, but it tends to make the Broadcom chip wig out and do stuff that often winds up consuming MORE power, not less, in addition to causing all sorts of weird connectivity issues.
Edit: Never mind... In this regard his kernel is behaving just like standard kernels. His wifi_pm tweak does nothing in the current code (it's #ifndefed out by CUSTOMER_HW_SAMSUNG)
I had the same problem which does have a work around. If you manually set up the connection it should work. Use the default values except the gateway IP which was the problem for me. The gateway default needed specifying. But with random reboot on all Franco versions I just went to speed mod. Works flawlessly.
No idea why some people have problems and others don't but for me R5 is the best I have tested. Only one to deliver consistent top notch performance.
