I am currently at Neutrino rom V2.5p2 GT
my phone have some problem that it cannot wake up after a long period of idle, such as EVERYDAY I wake up in the morning but I cannot wake my phone up. I have to pull my battery off and back in to reboot the device. This problem made me fail to receive morning calls for a whole week.
I am using Juicedefender, but not sure if it is the cause of problem.
Since this is the first custom rom I flash and I love Neutrino, but I think stability is a must to me. Are the V2.5p2 EE or V2.2 having a better stability? should I try them? or any patch can fix this problem?
Thank you so much!
same as u with 2.5p2 ee
wait for the next build
Sleep of death as its known, not always rom specific many of us experience it on different roms under different loads under different situations.
There's a few of us trying to track down the underlying problem, but at the moment we are all trying out different things which some work for people and not others
so agreed with the above just wait for the next build maybe that will work for you.

Like i've said in the Neutrino thread - it's a CM7 bug that was present in the original weekly.
Flash the 023 kernel, wipe dalvik, reboot.
023 seems to have fixed the problem for me. Going through a second day without random reboots, sleep of death.
Link to the kernel can be found in the faux dev thread, but it's also in my sig.
I think my phone must be hate custom ROMs because it have SOD for Jokersax and Turl CM9 as well as Neutrino ROM. Did flash some faux kernel but solve nothing. Still running Jokersax CM9 although SOD simply because of ICS. My own opinion, don't try CM9 unless you are ready to stay with it until official release.

What's your WIFI sleep policy set to?
And just to be 100% sure - do you wipe properly during rom flashing?

I didn't enable wifi. Just using data plan. The setting for 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' is Always as default.
I'm using N_01.100.00R baseband, could it be the issue? Any baseband recommend to use in Asia?
I follow what Jokersax said, format /system, wipe user data, wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM. I manage to flash every single ROM and boot normally. Weird.

I am using the default ATT baseband N_01.77.30P.
But from my experience, the reboot / sleep of death issue is most definitely related to WiFi.
Try setting Wifi sleep to "off when the screen is off" and switching to 023 kernel.
Haven't had any issues with this set up in the last 2 days.

Read from other thread with the workaround solution by installing Load Monitor or Wake Lock to prevent phone to go into deep sleep and fail to wake up. Now my phone run at 216Mhz instead of deep sleep when screen off. So far no SOD experience yet. But don't know how my battery life ink this case. Will update again after more observation.
[edit] no luck for load monitor. Get a SOD after 2 hours. Trying wake lock now. So far 6 hours no SOD. Will keep update.

I will observe for a few more days and report it here

I think the problem is solved with the 023 kernal! 2 days after flashing with no problem even set the wifi to be always on.
I think V2.6 EE version is worth trying since it include the CM7 kernal and claimed to have amazing battery efficient! But the V2.6 version introduced Launcherpro and many changes so I am not going to change it at this point, maybe a few days later.
Can I just flash the V2.6 stock CM7 kernal on my V2.5p2?
where can I find that CM7 kernal???

Why would you want the 2.6 kernel on 2.5p2?
For me 023 fixed the SOD issues.
Anyway, if you want to try the 2.6 kernel, download the rom, extract boot.img from the archive and flash it via fastboot, wipe dalvik, reboot.
If i were you, I would switch to 2.6 entirely. Haven't had any SODs in the past 24 hours since flashing.

Well I was looking for a new kernel the other day. I was getting tired of the lag of kingklicks kernels for gps. No offense king, Ive used your kernels since day one of my inc. So I went searching for a new kernel and tried out ziggys outrageous 1.28 lightspeed kernel which turned out to b false (really 1.15, somebody lied to him bout the code). Well on Oct 26th he came out with his new BFS kernel of the source code 2.6.32.24 with being overclock to 1.19. He uses this for bfs which king is still using 2.6.32.15. So far as using it no lag on gps and still get the same quadrant(1680) and linpack(40.223) as kings BFS. If you looking to try a new kernel heres the link. I hope ziggy471 dont mind but mad props to him.

I have used it on skyraider 3.3.2 now for the last 3 days with exceptional responsiveness and exceptional battery life. I heard people use the AOSP kernel for cyanogenmod and it has been worthy for them too. Difference is AOSP is for people who dont use SENSE UI in the rom. What rom are you using? Also did you clear dalvik cache and regular cache for. I downloaded the non-AOSP.
You can't be using one or the other kernel, either your running an AOSP rom or a Sense rom. That right there tells you which kernel to choose.

I hope this is in reference to the comment above my last one. Cuz I do know what kernel and rom Im running. I use the non-AOSP cuz my sense ui is still intact. NON_VANILLA
This is BFS with HAVS correct? How is the battery life/responsiveness?
Battery life is excellent, best I have had. Quadrant has been in the 1400's consistently (overclocked to 1.113), as apposed to others that are in the 1100-1200 range (including king's) with random moments of greatness into 1400.

Does it lag at all though? I installed King's CFS on CM 6.0.2 and it lagged alot. The 6.1rc2 kernel is very snappy
Nope, no lag. Just a good kernel. I am actually very pleased considering I have suffered with others.
After about 20 or so hours my phone has to be restarted, for some reason there is lag that occurs that can only be fixed with a reboot.
I've had this happen with other kernels too

This is why I stopped using Kings kernals, phone gets stuck at 100% cpu and needs to be reset.
That sucks this kernal does the same.
I just wiped Dalvik and system cache, installed and rebooted. It's seemingly stuck on the bootscreen. How long has it taken to reboot you guys?
Up to ten minutes after wiping Dalvik cache. Hang tight!
It's probably the BFS scheduler... even though the bfs faq says it's good to use in phones.. lol
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/bfs-faq.txt
I wonder if our phones would benefit from a higher tickrate when using bfs..

Well, user "Panda Fuzz" is using this kernal okay with my radio version. Hmm.. Must be my 2.5.1.1 version of CMR. People have reported problems with SR 3.3.2 and 2.5.1.1, but not me. This will be the first problem I have encountered with it. Guess I will try going back to CMR 2.5.0.5 and give ole ziggy another shot.
whats the fastest wildfire rom at the minute? sense or no sense doesnt really matter? like cyanogen or something, my phone is really slow at the minute which is really annoying me

It is probably a kernel issue. Try reusing HCDR.Kernel v4.1 from it's specific thread. Apart from that, you can try Openfire ROM as well, which is a completely vanilla AOSP build.
cold it be that rom manager didnt wipe properly? iv just manualy gone through and wiped everything and it hasnt crashed on me yet,

Yes, it is always recommended to wipe it manually through the Recovery Menu. You have to wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and /system for best results before installing a new ROM.
As for the kernel, yes, it is included by default in CM7, but it is v4.2. Using v4.2 has caused some stability issues for some members, and, in that case, it is recommended to revert back to kernel v4.1
yeh thanks for that info, was a kernel issue i hope, all been goin good so far
strange, cause the only difference between 4.1 and 4.2 is the wifi driver.

Yesterday I went to the new CM7 Rc1 then i moved to Openfire..

Great Idea !
Best battery life - Semaphore latest kernel with battery saver mode, didle works perfect, wifi on and network on, and have 4 -8 % drain by whole night ( no drain with wifi only ) It seams that my phone also charges quicker, but that could only be impression by using car charger in most cases to charge it.
When it comes to installation issues. I never had any problems ( full wipe ). To make it complete trouble less get some other ISC flashed before hand, update kernel to semaphore and then flash build27.
When coming from GB use this guide, and files to flash. I did that way when changing from GB to ICS and never had any FC. The only thing you could do is to update kernel after flashing as the one below has a CWM 3 not 5.
And don't flash from your external SD card ( its obvious right ? )

I came from be18's B26 to B27 with full wipe and then to B27-2 with only Cache/Dalvik wipe. All good, no loops or FCs.
However, I did have rather high Android OS % and battery drain on both B27 and B27-2. Battery life was great on B26 with Devil 14.2. Tried stock, Devil 14.2 and Devil 1.1.5 kernels on B27 with no improvement.
Now using Semaphore 0.9.1 and that seems to have solved it. Fast, stable and only lost a few percent last night with WiFi on. I recommend B27-2 + Semaphore 0.9.1.

I can't install AOKP. I've downloaded and copied the file two times and the checksums match.
Any Idea what might help?
Kind regards
For ICS users only
I was just curious, since many users (including me), never got SOD on the phone, not even once..
And being a heavy user, I tried many GB and ICS builds (But I use Criskelo's stuff most of the time...)and so far no SOD..
Just give your vote, for the statistics (or curiosity? )
Thanks
.
When using the Rocket Rom, 1.5, I only ever got one and that was when sync was on and wifi was doing it's little glitch-out thing. Other than that, have never had one on 1.5.
It happened often when i flashed via Mobile ODIN. Re-flashing via full PC ODIN and then installing iMilka's AOSP has given me no problems.
I don't have any hard evidence that mobile odin is to blame, but flashing with full PC odin make a big difference for a friend and I.
Lots of SODs when running Chinese Repack, just a couple since switching to imilka's AOSP.

Didnt try imilka's , started up (and staying) with Criskelo's and then tried a couple of other builds just to compare ...
Never got SOD on any of the other builds including ,when running CF repack with gapps 7.1
And always flashing with Mobile Odin with the necessary full wipes
.
I have not had a single SOD. Was on ROMOW ICS until imilka AOSP, have used imilka V1-V4 and been on V4 since release day with 0 SOD's. Mobile Odin CF Repack to imilka.
Have had several on Midnote.....matter of fact just had one 2 minutes ago...lol Otherwise this rom is perfect!
I just had one on the latest stock build of GB from India. I haven't rooted my phone or anything. Interesting. I will keep my eye on this thread. Thanks!
Feel free to mock me .... but what do you mean when you say SOD (screen of death)? Total system crash?
For some reason I get about 3 a day. I'm pretty sure its app installed. Once I raised the minimum CPU to 500 it got a lot better. When I get a chance I'll reinstall everything.
All in all I'm pretty sure its user error and not the rom. I'm using asop rom v4.

Yep same question here. (what do you mean by SOD?)
Many times I have the black screen when launching some app that sometimes work and sometimes don't (when I reboot the app is not accessible anymore).
I have an issue, it seems access to the external SD is not functioning well. Since I moved to ICS, I can't tell if it's Rom related or if its the SD that's faulty (it seems all OK when plugged to the computer).
I might have also to reboot when wifi toggled back on is not working well.
I'm using criskeloRom +15 toggles (but had more or less the same behavior with all the rom I used, Midnote or RocketRom).
Never on Criskelo's 1.5 ROM....in fact it is now 3 days without a reboot...I have had a couple of crashes without need for reboot, but its when Touchdown updates the stock contact list, which even happened on gingerbread...
Are you guys sure this is ROM related and not some other software?
I had SOD on GB
been using Team Rocket 1.5 since the first release, I totally had 4 times of SOD, not that much really.
i been using midnote repacked by me for atleast 6 days now NO SOD.
i give u guys a secret.

Actually, it's not screen of death. It's sleep of death.

Uh buddy...if I'm not mistaken...you're not supposed to flash custom kernels via ODIN.....
Your custom binary count might have just gone up....(i.e., bye bye warranty).

If i'm not mistaken (correct me if i'm wrong), Franco's kernel is based on the CM9 kernel which has some WiFi issues. I have the same problem as you and i'm using the latest CM9 kernel on ParanoidAndroid.

I just flashed the speedmod kernel and everything is fine. The reason i was using franco kernel was because of the overclocking but i think i m gonna do just fine with the 1.4gh.

Hi all.
For those with wifi problems under some franco kernel, what do you have under
Settings -> Wi-fi -> Advanced (menu button) -> Keep Wi-fi active??
I used to give never under this option. This morning I have changed it to always and for now my wifi problems went away under franco kernel r3 and KingDroid 2.0 + s3.
Sorry if options don't check accurately. My NOTE wears spanish language.
Regards.

I flashed franco kernel r6 and the wifi issue is still alive and the precise issue is the device after installing the kernel fails to obtain IP address , Contacted the developer with this issue and he said its a strange and rare problem to which he doesn't have an answer and I have been working on this from last couple of days, day in day out , there seems to be no solution I could invent nor i could find on this site or any where else. I tried to replace my franco kernel with Abyss kernel and after my phone doesn't boot at all . I am struck .

His kernel is not even remotely similar in architecture to the CM9 kernel.
My guess is that it's because he changed the default power management mode during suspend from PM_FAST to PM_MAX - PM_MAX may seem like a great thing, but it tends to make the Broadcom chip wig out and do stuff that often winds up consuming MORE power, not less, in addition to causing all sorts of weird connectivity issues.
Edit: Never mind... In this regard his kernel is behaving just like standard kernels. His wifi_pm tweak does nothing in the current code (it's #ifndefed out by CUSTOMER_HW_SAMSUNG)
I had the same problem which does have a work around. If you manually set up the connection it should work. Use the default values except the gateway IP which was the problem for me. The gateway default needed specifying. But with random reboot on all Franco versions I just went to speed mod. Works flawlessly.
No idea why some people have problems and others don't but for me R5 is the best I have tested. Only one to deliver consistent top notch performance.
