I installed this on my HP ProBook 4710s, everything works fine except for one thing; no sound. I hover the cursor over the speaker icon with a red X and it says "The audio service is not running" I've looked all over the Internet, tried everything i could find with no luck.
Someone please help!!

control panel^ administrative tools^ services, see if its disabled.
or
check in control panel^ hardware and sound^ sound^ manage audio devices. look for your audio device, if its not there, check your manufacturers website for the latest drivers.
good luck!
drivers are somewhat lacking in the CP, i hope thats temp!
After hours of fiddling i managed to get some win 7 drivers to install but everyone sounds like a robot now, so i have to be content with HDMI pass through, which probably isnt an option for you.....
anyhow, go hunt down the lastest drivers you can find, note that they may not be from your own OEM, find out what the sound card should be then head directly to them, usually they have more upto date drivers kicking about
How do I find out what exactly I need?

Ok, ive done some digging,
so your first mistake is buying HP.... but that's another issue, generally HP do everything humanly possible to piss you off when it comes to drivers and upgrades.
the audio chip used is a ADI SoundMAX AD1984A that's a conexcent chip, software codec and they give absolutely no support
Am I right in thinking that you used to have win XP on that and that was the last set of drivers for your laptop? of so
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...scription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-77355-1
that's drivers for that chipset for a different laptop for win 7, it might not work, however that's usually down to the hardware IDs not being present in the INF files, usually manually adding your hardware ID for your sound card to that list will get it going.... keep in touch

I just got a win 7 x64 ultimate install disk. Now it won't even see my phone....I downloaded the correct drivers ad still nothing. I was on win 7 x32 ultimate and installed the 32 bit drivers and all went well. Now I'm on x64 bit version and with x64 drivers it ain't find my device!!!! I'm at a loss here.

did you get it resolved, I had the same issue. I then move to the rear usb port, you need to look for the safley remove media icon on the task bar. It should be there. when you plug the phone in the epic should show up. If not goto disk manager in windows and make sure that the drive letter that the epic is trying to use isnt already in use, i fit is change it.
The other thing is to make sure on the phone that you have selected the correct method, IE charging etc In my case the phone would show up as raw format yet it would show up fine on another PC. all i can think of is that it was something buggy with the USB.
Try a different USB port and if that doesn't work try a different cable.
If it still doesn't work try removing the drivers for the device manually, reboot the system and reconnect the device. It should automatically discover the drivers for you running Windows 7.
Also when you connect the phone to the system does the menu pop up asking you how you would like the phone to respond to the connection (IE. Mass Storage, Phone as Modem and whatever the 3rd option is)?

I've never gotten those options ever. Nothing pops up on my phone. I thought it was weird since I've heard about them, but never seen it, mac or pc. Any way this is connected to usb debugging being on?

Edit: yup, menu came up when I turned USB debugging off.
Glad the menu came up! The question is did the computer pick up the device?

Nope not even with the correct samsung epic win 64bit drivers. I couldn't for the life of me get then to see my phone. Reinstalled win 7 ultimate 32bit. Saw it right when hooked up! So I guess ill stay with my x32 edition :-(

You probably just got some drivers crossed. Manually removing the drivers should have fixed it versus reimaging the system =/

Try plugging the phone into the usb ports on your mobo. Other ports didn't work for me

gillidk, Did you buy yours from geekbuying? How long was the delivery and which country are you

I got mine today. I ordered it over a week ago. Weird because I didn't get my shipping information until last night, and when I tracked it, it was already out for delivery.
My Measy Air Mouse R11 is screwed though I think. It keeps sliding to the left hand side. I even tried on my PC and it does the same thing. I've tried to resync it and screw with it, but it keeps moving. Very hard to use a mouse that doesn't stay still. The MK808 is fun. I just got it tonight. I haven't had the time to get really crazy with it. Seems to run ok and would be far more enjoyable with a good input device.
Ordered mine today (only $60), if it really works as reviews say, it's quite a bargain
Do you still have problems with the rc11 or are they solved ?

I fixed my Measy Air Mouse R11.
To reset the Gyros, you lay it flat and press and hold LEFT ARROW + G for a few seconds... making sure it is flat. Now it works great.
I'm having some weird issues with some misbehaving apps. Root explorer started freaking out. And now my FPse won't use OpenGL for the life of me. I'm interested in trying the CM10 build for it but the operation requirements are bland. Supposedly it requires CWM recovery, which is supplied but doesn't give specifics how or what order or process to get it done.
I have to say that it is a fun unit to work with and chews through FPse roms. I'm surprised how well it runs for a chinese chipset.
Flashing is a bit of a chore and instructions aren't very clear, so I'll post them here:
With the unit OFF:
Insert a paper clip into the reset hole and press it in and HOLD IT down.
Awkwardly insert the MicroUSB-PC cable into the OTG. This will power the unit and it should boot into Flash mode given you've held the paperclip down properly.
Trying to install eGalax Touch Screen linux driver
I'm trying to install the eGalax Touch Screen driver for Linux 2.6 that came with my liliput 7 inch touch screen. The touch screen is for use in my car. Using the mk802 II or ug808 to replace my audio system. I just need to get the driver installed. The driver installation script is looking for the locations "usr/local" and "usr/bin", but the only "usr" directory I can find is in "system/usr"... I'm not sure if I should use that location and create the local and bin directories there or not. But when I created the usr/local and usr/bin at the same level as system (which is in the "mnt" directory which is also at the same level as "root" directory (btw, I cannot find a "home" directory), the install seemed to work fine using Better Terminal Pro android app with the bash shell. However, when I restarted the device, the "usr" directory that I create was gone, so the driver install was wiped apparently, and the usb HDMI touch screen still does not work... I can post the bash script if that helps. This is the last thing I need to get this to work, then I can have a full Android ICS system in my car. Thanks in advance.
FYI The HDMI works great to view and use a usb mouse or the RII keyboard. they work great. It's just the touch screen input does not work. It used to when I first turned on the device with the touch screen on, but the x-y coordinates were reversed, hence attempting to install the driver. I have ICS compiled from source and may attempt to add the drivers into it and create an img to them load on the mk802 II, but I fear that I'll loose any proprietary hardware drivers that came with the mk802 II.
I also wanted to make a img backup using ROM Manager, but ClockworkMod is not available for the MK802 II. ANy leads on this would help. Been researching and testing this for a month now.

Ordered on the 26th for 65$ (actually cost £42 through paypal),
they shipped on the 29th (tracking never worked).
And it arrived on the 6th. So quicker than expected.
I've applied the firmware update which was a slightly newer build of 4.1. Mentioned in both these places (applied the tweaked one from deadhp1 for the play store location fix in case needed)

It now seems to play any avi / mkv / mp4 i've given it (usually on a usb stick or micro SD). It happily plays avi's over the network (using ES file explorer).
Its definitely better than the out of sync UG802 which wasn't quite right and the power lead came out too easily.
I use the custom stock video app (seems to come with most of the RockChip devices) and MX player (it looks a lot nicer)
I was looking for a device like this one and the reviews are really helpful

So confused... it's a USB drive that turns a TV into an Android PC? Does the TV require any special functionality to allow for that?

It is a mini PC that has HDMI output. Your TV must have a vacant HDMI input so you can plug the mini PC into it. My TV supports 1080p. And so I can set the output resolution on the mini PC to 1080p. But it also could be set to 720p as well. These don't come with any display so you have to plug it in to your TV or a monitor that supports HDMI. The audio is pushed through the HDMI as well. To control it you can use a USB mouse and/or USB keyboard. Your cheap wireless mouse will work but the USB ports do not have power to them so I've had to use a powered USB hub to make my wireless keyboard work further than a foot away from the USB dongle for the keyboard. The hub also allows you to plug in other devices like a USB camera. But the ones that work are somewhat limited , be aware. Does that help you understand it?

probably you will need the kernel sources. also, you need root access. that error (directories that get lost after reboot) might be due to yo need to remount the /system partition in rw mode (by default is ro) and perhaps you will neet to do some symlinks on /bin to /system/xbin.
other thing you..must get in considwration is that android is different from linux.. and that you might need to compile the kernel module, such thiing im not sure that is posible from within the device itself...
or.. i just might be way off track, in which case jyst dismiss my answer

just so you know it doesn't have built in bluetooth.
if you need bluetooth google for imito mx1. this one seems to be the best mk808 model so far. i got mine last month but haven't tried bluetooth yet. antutu gives a score around 6500. it's a nice toy to play with on bigscreen tvs.
I read up on this one. Good vid review at http://youtu.be/X8pozwuAq7w

can anyone comment on this non-support of XBMC for Rockchip? and if not Rockchip, which stick-PC gets it right?
one comment also that I would like more info on is that both iMITO units underperform compared to MK808
"Lack of XBMC support for HD hardware acceleration is a major issue that Rockchip needs to address if they want to keep selling SoC chips to the Stick PC mfgrs. Stick PC makers need 2 take action on this as well and if Rockchip won't play ball, they need to consider alternative SoC. We need more processing power anyway to get close to current smart-phone level and play the latest 3D games."
I'm absolutely pulling my hair out on this one. While I'm no tech wizard, I'm not a complete mong either.
So I bought a refurbed N7 first gen from eBay, works lovely, no issues, except I can't put files on it.
When I plug it into my PC, Windows picks it up and adds it to the device manager under Portable Devices as Nexus 7, all fine and dandy. The drivers it uses appear to be generic Microsoft MTP ones: 6.1.7600.16385 (21/06/2006). I can see the device under My Computer and browse the folders, but I cannot take anything off it or put anything on it. By that I mean I cannot drop and drop, I cannot copy and paste, it appears to treat it as some form of ROM, and dragging a file to the folder just gives me the stop-sign type cursor. No errors, no nothing, just cannot put anything on it.
If I enable USB Debugging in the developer menu, Windows 7 finds some more drivers but the problem is identical.
I downloaded the proper Google drivers from both the Asus website and from a website it won't let me link to, andiiod developers dot com or something.
I've gone about various ways of installing them but Windows doesn't acknowledge them and reverts to the generic driver as above.
I can force them on by using the 'install legacy drivers' wizard, and they appear under Android Phone in the device manager.
With a bit of fannying about, I re-enabled USB debugging and this time the wizard asked me for drivers, so I pointed to the downloaded Google drivers and it chose the Android Composite ADB Interface drivers.
Still no joy.
I'm so angry I want to throw it out the window, but I suspect this is a Windows/driver issue rather than the Nexus.
Can someone PLEASE fix this for me? I've spent 3 days trying to fix it and nothing has worked.
Many thanks.

Google'd it to death, I can't find anyone else with the same issue!
I just picked up a HTC Shift X9500 for the kids to play around on (instead of messing with my laptop )
Anyway, Vista sucks obviously, so I want to install Windows XP on this thing. I got windows installed ok. Installed all the drivers. However, here is the issue I'm having. If I DO NOT install the Video drivers, the WiFi adapter works & connects. I install the video drivers & the desktop looks nice, but then the Wifi doesn't work. Just shows as "Unknown Device" in the Device MGR. I can go back into the Device MGR & uninstall the video drivers & restart the system. Then BANG...the wifi is operational again. So, I'm not sure if I got a bad wifi driver or incorrect video drivers. Does ANYONE have all the drivers for this device (Using XP that is..)
It seems to run A LOT faster using XP over Vista. I know the device is old & very outdated, but it would be cool for the kids if I can get it working. There are instructions on this forum to install XP step by step but the links are dead & I can't follow the process. Anyone help??
Hmm thats weird. I use windows 7 on it. Also alot faster than vista.
Wifi is still not working with me. But when i installed the videocard driver. None of my games would boot. So i un installed it. And i can play every game that can run on this old hardware. Seems to me the video driver isnt the best one written.
was it hard to get xp? I may try to dual boot to see wich seems faster with the games

shift batteries are good, mine is from 2008 and still perfect
maybe your htc is fully discharged, that is normal because snapvue drink the battery when the pc is off, mine wasnt used in almost an year, it wouldnt turn on, but put it charhing and start to charge...
Ecxelent on shift is that can run without battery on external power. Both WM and PC. New phone can give to trash if battery is death.
