External Touch Screen Input

So i would like to install a 7" LCD monitor in my car that would take the VGA feed from the Atrix in the HD dock to be able to display things like the GPS functions, MP3 player, etc.
With the 7" LCD's on the market that have touch screen capability (through USB) i was wondering if this could be possible. The touchscreens usually require a driver to operate and i am not sure if there is a way to get the driver to work on the atrix where the USb port from the touchscreen would plug into the back of the HD dock.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

VGA input on your screen won't wor - the atrix uses HDMI and you will need to convert between the two to get a signal out (VGA is analog, HDMI is digital).
Unless someone writes drivers for a USB touchscreen, as well as getting HDMI mirroring to work in the horizontal position (currently the hack only works for normal vertical orientation), then you're pretty much out of luck.

Using the Motorola Atrix as a CarPC brain is something I'm looking for! I have a Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T 7" with HDMI video-in, the touchscreen works over USB and it has a Linux driver. Shouldn't be possible to implemente it in Webtop?

As far as I understand, the driver would have to be precompiled for ARM, or the source code to the driver would have to be available, short of reverse-engineering it.

Yes, this concept is trivial, the questions are if it can be done, the amount of work necessary and if someone is willing to do it.
I personally have very few knowledge in Linux, limited to some terminal commands in switches and other devices, which is far distant to compiling something to another processor architecture!

I've been interested in doing this same thing in my car. You know there's an alternative on ebay but theyre expensive sitting at a litter over $700 and I only see them available on ebay. Its basically a double din dock that functions with or without the included docking device. The device is just a tablet that I believe stock is running froyo & it has capable specs, with 64 or 128 gigbabytes max memory, 1ghz, 512mb ram, I think its a nice size too, a little smaller than most tablets. I'll try and find a reference or link on ebay.
& has video inputs, etc.

I'm wanting to do the same thing using an HDMI connection, not sure if I can use the Atrix or have to build a car PC and connect the Atrix to it though

Would it be possible to use the current webtop hacks to change the webtop to ubuntu and get a touchscreen to work with it? Just brainstorming. Dunno if it's even possible or not

it's a sound thought pattern, however that is not the issue.
the touchscreen usb drivers are designed to run on the i386 architecture, where our phone runs on the ARM architecture.
aka our greek phones dont understand english
I'd translate it myself if I had the source code to the i386 driver and some learning material XD
depending on the filesize of the i386 binary, it would be possible to reverse engineer, however extremely time consuming (probably looking at months)

The other option I was thinking about was to buy a 7 inch tablet and mount it behind the bezel in the dash.
In the car I am planning to play with, I would keep the stock Bluetooth-enabled head unit, and just sink it back into the dash some more with either a tablet or a touch-screen monitor sitting in between the head unit and the bezel so it looks good.
The good thing about doing it this way is that the stock head unit has steering wheel controls which will remote-control a Bluetooth stereo device, and also means no need for an additional amplifier.
I.E if I pair my Atrix phone to the head unit by bluetooth, I can play music and use the skip prev/next buttons on the steering wheel to control the Atrix.
So ideally I would dock my Atrix in the car and bring it up on the touch-screen monitor, be able to control through the external touch screen too.
Otherwise I would have a tablet permanently mounted in-dash, connected with Bluetooth to the head unit. Once again could control using the steering wheel.

3.1 & USB Peripherals

I know that 3.1 added support for a broader spectrum of USB devices, and I thought it would be interesting to compile a list of what works and doesn't work!
So far, I've tried:
ACER LIQUID E - Basically just charges the phone and allows for tethering (wish I could mount it) **UPDATE** After rooting and installing busybox and drive mount, Liquid E is able to mount! (Thanks, entropy)
HP WIRELESS MINI KEYBOARD (Model #U10G) - Works flawlessly! Prior to the update, only the keyboard worked, but now the mouse works too, as expected!
SONY CYBERSHOT (Model #DSC-W55) - At first the Iconia didn't detect it, but after I went into the camera menu and changed USB connect mode from "auto" to "mass storage" and plugged it back into the tablet, the Gallery app opened automatically and the pics from the camera magically appeared! Woohoo!
LOGITECH ATTACK 3 JOYSTICK - Not too useful, but it works! Basically it works as a glorified mouse, scrolling up/down/left/right. Pretty basic for now, but perhaps a good flight simulator will come out in the future?
SAMSUNG STORY STATION 1 TB HARD DRIVE - My biggest disappointment... I know there are workarounds to get external drives to work, but I was hoping 3.1 would provide a fix for this. It is formatted FAT32, so I'm not sure what the problem is, but my Iconia isn't picking it up **UPDATE** After rooting and installing busybox and drive mount, Story Station is able to mount! (Thanks, entropy)

I can confirm the iphone 3gs will charge and you can import photos/movies taken on the camera.
I have a cannon camera at home. I know they have a strange interface which always requires me to load a separate driver in windows. I will test it later and let you know.

Assuming you are rooted - try "drive mount" (free from market) - solved all my USB storage device problems.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I'm not currently rooted, but I'll likely take that plunge soon. I was hoping 3.1 would cure that in the stock software, but we can't always get what we want

How ironic that an iProduct will work as a peripheral, but not another Acer product!
*edit* Just tested my old BLACKBERRY CURVE 8310 and it mounts no problem! Wtf?

Rooting stock 3.1 takes about ten seconds - i have successfully ran a Logitech laser mouse, a Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard, a old crappy external 60gb USB hdd, and a 16gb flash stick all at once

Does a non powered usb hub work??

Using a non powered hub as I type - 4 devices connected, including a sweet keyboard with led back lighting (saitek eclipse 2) - all 4 devices work even if I am not connected to power.

Is there an * easy * way to make this tab use huwaei dongle for internet...???

No idea - would probably involve a rooted device and a custom rom - head to the dev section.

Logitech mx510 and mx518 mice confirmed.
Xbox 360 wired controller works but found no games that use it and it is very clunky for nav'ing the UI in general.
Wacom Bamboo powers but nothing functions.

A "safe" way? I'm pretty sure it won't explode if you just unplug them.
In all seriousness, you should be able to just unplug them without losing data. At least I always have.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason you have to "eject" removable media from windows is because windows has some sort of drive caching to speed things up. This means that just because you have copied a file to your usb drive, doesn't mean the data has actually been written right away.
Furthermore, Windows also locks out files that are in use by an active application. As such, windows makes you "eject" the media in order to give the OS a chance to check to see if any of the files are still in use, to avoid the application having a brain fart and crashing. Also, if an application is in the process of writing to a file and you yank out the drive, the file could become corrupt.
I think both scenarios are not likely to occur on an Android tablet, mainly because its based on a real operating system not designed to treat you like an idiot. Just make sure none of the data is being used by any open apps and you should be fine.
That being said, always make sure to keep backups.

bluetooth completely borked. fix it google!

I've been trying to get a BT mouse to work on my nexus 4.
i've now tried 2 different models, without success.
both are recognized, both pair and then both completely fail to work.
to add insult to injury, i tried one of those mice on a friend's samsung google nexus today -- also running jellybean -- and it worked perfectly.
could anybody running a BT mouse successfully SINCE THE LAST UPDATE (4.2.1) let me know what make/model they have?

take a nexus 4 + slimport adaptor + BT mouse + BT keyboard,
add an lcd TV with hdmi input (now common in hotels etc.),
and you have:
- a portable PC
- a decent home media centre (with armchair remote input)
- possibly a productivity tool for editing text/ photos etc. for which a touchscreen is too inprecise an input device.

And AFAIK, bluetooth input devices weren't supported?

sorry, i typically use a laptop for those things. It would make a lot more sense btw. You can also use your phone as a bluetooth mouse/keyboard if you have a laptop that connects to a tv.

Wow, you are quite "the absurd man". If you're trying to find help in a forum, it's best if you be a bit nicer. We're both trying to give you better alternatives to what you're trying to accomplish. To answer your questions...
A/wireless display technology is built in with the n4 and jelly bean and it's not yet widely available to most tv's yet but achievable with adapters.
B/so you don't have to carry around a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. It helps you with 2 less things you carry (unless you're using a combo).
C/this one I can't back him cause I thought it is supported. Maybe it is broken, but I don't use it so I wouldn't know

i don't want to carry a laptop around when i already have a computer in my pocket.
and i'm not happy with touch input devices as they are too slow and lack the precision needed for heavy editing.
these are my (not i.m.o. unreasonable) requirements of the nexus 4.

getting the display to the TV is no problem -- i already have a slimport adaptor! why would i want to max out my wifi for that? it's bananas!
and i've already said that i don't want to use touch input as it's too slow and inprecise for my purposes.
my portable (igo stowaway) keyboard and notebook BT mouse are tiny (and inexpensive).

i've heard other people making the tablet/ phone distinction before and i'm not sure it's a valid one. the nexus 4 surely IS a tablet, albeit with a smaller physical (not resolution) screen. what else distinguishes a tablet? i use my N4 in exactly the same way i used my asus transformer and playbook.

In your first post you didn't clarify that you were going to hook it up to a tv, so I assume that you were planning to connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to your n4 and try to work from it's bit-smaller-than 5" display, which is highly unproductive.
N4 is technically a phone, not a tablet, by definition and specifications. I shouldn't have to explain the differences between a phone and a tablet (I'm sure there's a thread with detailed explanations)... just because it's running the same os doesn't mean it has the same hardware classification.
I understand that you want your N4 to replace your computer and the technology is very close, but not quite there yet... For simple tasks, it's good, but for anything editing, a laptop computer is highly more productive than a phone. Imagine you're doing something and you constantly receive phone calls and text messages.
Anyways, I will test this later when I get home and see if it's really broken. I know my Bluetooth moga game controller works just fine so I don't know why your mouse wouldn't.

my BT keyboard works fine, but no mouse that i've tried.

Bluetooth is pretty much borked in all versions of Jellybean for all devices. Some things work and some things don't its pretty hit or miss. Version 4.2.1 added some drivers for game controllers but not much else so that's probably why those work and things like mice don't. There is supposed to be another fix coming in the next version but all that's known to be in there for sure is a fix for A2DP streaming.

however, the (jellybean) samsung google nexus has no problem running a BT mouse, as i saw today.
i'd like to raise awareness of this problem with the N4 and get some more response from users, which has so far been sparse, probably because (as other posters in this thread have indicated) few see the need for a mouse.
for instance, somebody reported on another thread that they had been able to make a microsoft 5000 notebook mouse work. can anybody corroborate that?
i'm reluctant to shell out for yet another mouse considering that i'm currently holding 2 non-functioning ones.

Recommend a Android Stick Setup Intended to Be Used As Replacement for PC

I need to replace my parents 7 year old Windows PC with a new one. I was thinking of getting a Android stick instead since their uses are limited to Skype, Hangouts, Facebook, occassional browsing and YouTube. Besides, at least my mom has become pretty familiar with her Android phone.
What I have in mind is this:
Buy a monitor with HDMI port or DVI. The monitor will have built in speakers as well. Connect the stick to it.
Attach a USB hub to the stick.
Attach webcam, keyboard and mouse to the hub. Alternatively, attach keyboard and mouse to the USB ports in the monitor (if available). I don't want to use bluetooth because they will find recharging the keyboard/mouse difficult.
My questions are:
How effective this setup will be for the above mentioned purposes? The reason I ask this is because most people seem to be using Android stick primarily as a media player.
I tried hooking up two tablets to my TV, neither of them gave full screen. Will I face such problems with the stick? Do I need to look for any specific monitor resolutions or aspect ratios?
If I attach keyboard and mouse to the monitor's USB port, will it work?
Are there any sticks which will support touch screen monitors out of the box?
Will it play the sound through monitor out of the box?
In case I have to use bluetooth, can I pair both keyboard and mouse at the same time?
Do I need to shutdown the stick just like a PC or will a simple mains switch off be enough? Or can I leave it running all the time without worrying about the power consumption?
Please recommend a good stick for this purpose.
Am I overlooking something? Will I need any extra components?
I will most likely be telling them over the phone on how to set up the whole thing. So any kind of tinkering with software (like rooting or some form of modding) will not be possible.

I have a Minix X7, which is my first android mini pc.. here's my thoughts regarding your list:
1. If you connect the mini pc (stick or otherwise) using HDMI cable to the monitor, you will have audio through the monitor.
2. If you buy a mini pc instead of a stick, you wouldn't need an additional usb hub (see X5 or X7)
3. You will need to use a logitech webcam (at least to use stock roms on Minix)
4. For browsing, Facebook, and Skype, the X7 will handle that easily, on a wired/wireless connection
5. Full screen works fine (either 1080p or 720p)
6. I have never used a touch screen monitor, but this thread has some guidance (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?1802-Touchscreen).. a little more involved than plug-and-play
7. The X7will pair both a keyboard and mouse via bt at once, though I would recommend using the usb ports if you are setting it up at a desk
8. My X7 almost never gets shut off. Usually just shut off the monitor and let it stay on. The power consumption is minimal, especially when not being used.
Also, as far as a recommendation, I find the X7 to be pretty good. You'd probably be ok with an X5 if they aren't planning on using it as a media center and want to save some $$$. A lot of the cheap sticks are made by manufacturers who do not provide updates or product support, but since the end of July, Minix has come out with 3 firmware updates, and another one is almost ready. (They would have released update 005 except Rockchip released an update to their code and Minix want to integrate it prior to their next release, as it improves video playback).
On the negative side, the firmware does still have occasional glitches. Although my X7 has been up for days on end, every once in a while it just freezes up, and i have to pull the power cable, plug it back in, and turn it on. Also, the X7 had some early issues with SD cards, but if you don't plan on using an SD card, that shouldn't be an issue.
If you believe an android device will do everything your parents need in a PC, I think it's a great idea. Low power consumption (4W vs the 160-220W of my HTPC), low heat, no noise, low price, and decent reliability.
One more thought, if you wish to root/update firmware, etc, get the device shipped to you, then ship it to your parents. It'll take a few more days, but you can set it up and make sure everything suits their needs prior to delivery..

7. The X7will pair both a keyboard and mouse via bt at once, though I would recommend using the usb ports if you are setting it up at a desk
8. My X7 almost never gets shut off. Usually just shut off the monitor and let it stay on. The power consumption is minimal, especially when not being used.
Also, as far as a recommendation, I find the X7 to be pretty good. You'd probably be ok with an X5 if they aren't planning on using it as a media center and want to save some $$$. A lot of the cheap sticks are made by manufacturers who do not provide updates or product support, but since the end of July, Minix has come out with 3 firmware updates, and another one is almost ready. (They would have released update 005 except Rockchip released an update to their code and Minix want to integrate it prior to their next release, as it improves video playback).
On the negative side, the firmware does still have occasional glitches. Although my X7 has been up for days on end, every once in a while it just freezes up, and i have to pull the power cable, plug it back in, and turn it on. Also, the X7 had some early issues with SD cards, but if you don't plan on using an SD card, that shouldn't be an issue.
If you believe an android device will do everything your parents need in a PC, I think it's a great idea. Low power consumption (4W vs the 160-220W of my HTPC), low heat, no noise, low price, and decent reliability.
One more thought, if you wish to root/update firmware, etc, get the device shipped to you, then ship it to your parents. It'll take a few more days, but you can set it up and make sure everything suits their needs prior to delivery..

That is a great wright up of x7 I love mine and agree 100 % with what you have said here. I've tried the uab sticks they don't work as well plus no heat on the x7 that thing is built well to last. I have set p.o.s. (point of sales) systems up in the past using the x5 cheap and fast browsing experience.

I have MK808b (dual core with 1GB RAM), and using it as a media center, but also as a PC for browsing INTERNET. It is connected to pc monitor with HDMI, and works perfectly in full HD resolution.
I can't find any reason not to use it as a replacement for PC, especially if you use cloud storage services.

I have dropped the idea of using touch screen, since they seem to be 3 times the cost of a regular monitor (in India).
Regarding the shipping, I am in US now and parents are in India. I am not exactly sure if customs will cause any problems. That's why I am thinking of ordering from eBay India itself. Only problem is eBay India seller is charging around $204, probably because this is a new device.

If this works as expected for the above purposes, I am the one who will be more happy. In the last 2 years, I have spent a lot of hours through LogMeIn remote desktop updating and maintaining the PC. Where my parents stay, there are scheduled powercuts for 1 hour per day for atleast half of the year, and power comes and goes every now and then even otherwise. This inconsistency in power was another reason that made me lean towards the mini PCs. Besides, my mom, who is the primary user of the PC, has become more familiar with Android (through her phone), and she likes playing the games a lot as well.

What resolution is your monitor?
Cloud storage will be a problem, since the internet at my parents house is only 512 kbps.
I am thinking of getting the X7 or X5 mainly because of the software updates, since I won't need to purchase any hub and since I can use my existing Logitech C310 webcam.
I have few more questions regarding the X7:
1. How responsive is the keyboard and mouse? Can I expect a response similar to a normal Windows PC?
2. If I use a monitor that has a resolution between 720p and 1080p (something like 1360x768 for example), will the device handle it properly or will it look odd (like stretched)?
3. Will it get updated automatically? I saw one video in YouTube in which he was manually flashing it using some Windows utility. Is that the only way to update?

I have two devices.
First device is a 70 dollar single core tablet with a broken touch screen. It was to expensive to fix it so I turned it into a server.
1. it runs Servers ultimate pro running a WebDav server, PHP/MySQL server for RSS feeds and a home site for the family, ddns updater and an FTP server.
2. it is running a surveillance app that sends an email to me the moment anything moves in the camera shot.
3. runs a PocketMine-MP server
4. runs an app to auto stop and start apps dring certain times of the day.
All this is remotely accessible VIA webkey.
Second device is an iMito MX1
1. it has a 7 port hub attached.
2. a HD webcam for Skype.
3. two harddrives (a 1 TB driver for media storage and a 720GB for internal memory replacement)(more on that in a min)
4. plays netflix, red box, youtube, Vevo, crackle and XBMC... to name a few
5. has 32 games loaded up with a Logitech F710 wireless controller VIA an app for onscreen touch.
6. Logitech full sized KB and Mouse.
I use this thing for web browsing, shooting vids and pics over to it from my phone for family sharing(DLNA)
The 750gig harddrive is currently the SDCARD but the internal one(NAND). The internal NAND is no longer used and the harddrive is where the OS stores the app's file to SD and the apps extra downloads. This has allowed me to download 15 games that contain 1+gig of extra data each.
All this has replaced two PC's in my house running 24/7. My electric bill has dropped 100+ dollars a month and the house has become quieter.
Let me tell you that two PC's(one was a server and the other a media center) running at full speed just to watch a movie took 280 watts of power. My new setup only consumes 24 at peak! Plus less heat and fan noise! I changed over around a year ago and never looked back or miss my old setup.
If you plan on running one fore a PC replacement I recommend a quad core. Sometimes the browsers can get a bit poky and that is due to the slower CPU. Also Webkey a must for remote management. This one FREE app has saved me more times then I can could. It has tons of functions and features but it's best feature is the remote control. It is just like setting in front of the device but just a tad slower. It is not a perfect app but it is the only remote app that I have found to work time and time again.

My monitor is 24" 1080p, and it's perfectly suitable for the purpose
For the office documents, 512kbps is quite enough, but not for pics, videos....

I'm glad to share my experience. I was a bit hesitant to buy one originally, but have been more than happy with my purchase.
I bought mine from http://www.aliexpress.com/item/MINIX-NEO-X7-Android-TV-Box-RK3188-Quad-Core-Mini-PC-1-6GHz-2G-16G-WiFi/1086507000.html# shipped DHL for only $3 more, and had it delivered in 3 days to Hawaii from China.
Updates are kind of a pain until they implement OTA updates, which they say they're going to do. That's why I recommend shipping to you first, and then you can send to your parents. I understand the customs issue though.. tough decision on that one.
I use mine on a 55" 1080p tv, and the picture quality is outstanding. The picture does not looked stretched or odd any any way. I believe it will detect the correct display settings and you can set the resolution you desire in /settings/display/resolution (trying to remember exact menu it's under)
The keyboard and mouse is just as responsive as a windows pc. There are a couple of times there is a bit of lag, but that is just a function of how much stuff is running. Even when you experience lag, it isn't anything significant.
There is a working version of CWM that will allow you to flash updates like an Android phone, but you will have to use the pc utility to install CWM (available on freaktab.com) Once CWM is installed, you can package the update files into a zip that is premade other than your update files, and it'll update for you.
There is a lot more information on freaktab.com. I alternated between that and minixforums.com for a while when trying to decide which android mini pc to buy. After weeks of research, I decided the wait for the X7 was worth it, and haven't regretted my decision since.

But they rejected my payment due to security concerns (I used an US credit card and gave India adress which probably raised some red flags). Then I ordered from eBay India. Waiting for it to be shipped.
I also came across another interesting product that could have satisfied all my requirements. Its the ViewSonic VSD220. Its a touch screen monitor with speakers, web cam, USB ports and is a Android mini PC. The only down side was that a YouTube review said its processor is not upto the mark.

I think you'll get better performance out of the X7. Have you read all the info, etc on minixforums.com? Also, starting with FW006, they are supporting SDCard firmware updates (theoretically, though I haven't tried it)

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. What would you reccomend for luanchers or either installing a new system on the Tronsmart T428. I just can't stand using the android with my wifi keyboard w built-in mouse. The android pop-up keyboard takes up half of my projector screen when it pops up even with null keyboard installed. When selecting a link if a similar page ops up there is no scroll bars on the right letting you know to scroll down or if ytou are still on the smae page waiting for stuff to upload. i guess I'm looking for more of an Ubuntu 10x or windows experience. Traditional keyboard and mouse vs touch screen. NOw that I think about it I bet I have to get hulu plus to watch anything on this bc it acts like a tablet.

My first day with my MOJO... and a few tips to get up to speed fast.

OK so out of the box this thing looks great, packaging included.
Setting it up was straight forward. HDMI to my 55" LG 240hz. Just had to dig out a spare cat5 and pop it in. Batteries in the CTRLR, dongle in the USB 2.0 port. Phone clip stashed for future use. Brought power to the MOJO and sparked it up, and just as I feared... uh.. wait.. actually it started up flawlessly, audio and video came over lovely with a beautiful smooth boot.
So far so good.
Next I used the CTRLR to perform the basic setup. TIP #1 (use mouse and keyboard for this). I didn't have an issue just took more time than it had too putting in a bunch of text via point and click. Even so, no problem to sync my google account and arrange the normal "phone" settings.
So far so good, and it doesn't even hiccup.
Apps and such, I need to navigate the new feeling of the mouse mode and android interface. TIP #2 (took a bit to understand how the left stick acts like the mouse and the A button acts like your finger pressing, so to swipe you press A then swipe stick! also when navigating screens use the right stick to scroll up and down as long as you have the curser over the section you want to scroll) I click on the MadCatz logo (claw marks), its the orientation app, follow it step by step. works like a dream, and thanks for adding that it gave me a great start. TIP #3 (follow all of the suggested actions in the slideshow). This will help you get basic apps that make the functionality of the MOJO start to feel like a workable system.
So far so good,
I want to test the sound and graphics, so I load up Dead Trigger 2 (you'll be able to DL it inside of the presentation) and man it looks sweet! I'm really impressed that this lil box can pump out those shaders and reflections at that resolution without straining.. I'm not a console FPS guy but have to say it looked great... TIP #4 (switch your CTRLR mode button from mouse mode to the right PC mode to be able to interact in Dead Trigger)
So far so good, but but but....
I want to get some apps, specifically apps that I bought the MOJO for as my media center (among other things). So you'll soon find you cannot DL most apps as the developers haven't added MOJO as a supported device, so you wont even have an option to try it out. This will not do as I am not going to wait for them to add support to get to enjoy this thing.
TIP #5 downloading and side loading apps till you can ROOT and modify the ro. to act like a supported device to fake out the app store (till they get off their ass and support this thing).
1. On your pc go to the android market and find the app you want, copy the address bar.
2. go to (im new to the forum so they wont let me show the url, but just look up APK-Downloader from evozi) paste the google play URL into the text box and click the "generate dl link" button.
3. It will save the app package as a .zip file, you will need to change the file extension from .zip to .apk and save it on a USB flash drive.
4. Pop the USB flash drive into the USB 3.0 port of your MOJO
5. Go to the security settings in the MOJO and uncheck the restriction on installing apps that are from unknown sources.
6. Open up ES File Manager app (if you followed TIP #3 this will be installed already) and find Local on the left, click that, then scroll down to USB, and click that.
7. Find the file you DL and saved as .apk and click it. It will install (everything I installed this way works perfectly, I can only speak from my experience but so far no duds, THOUGH I HAD A FAIL ON AN APP I DID NOT PURCHASE *still working on how to buy an app to gain access without being able to have that option to purchase on the market place, I think I will have to root and change my device description to a supported device but all of these steps are to avoid having to root for now*)
After this now I sit back and enjoy, I just wanted to help out anyone else that might be new to the MOJO.
So far so good, I have all the apps I bought the MOJO for and woohoo! Thanks for this MadCatz. I'm impressed. Now I just need to send some emails to the developers to update their apps.

As I progress there are a few more things I have found.
I just purchased two keyboards to test out: (note: I would have tried out MADCATZ gamesmart stuff if they were available in store but it was an impulse decision)
I bought a HP Bluetooth keyboard K4000
Pros - only 29.99, no need for dongle with Bluetooth, super small, has power button so you can turn your MOJO off and on (never thought I would get excited about something like that but hey) and feels sturdy. Can also use the FN keys to turn off the MOJO and handle all the multimedia stuff, lovely.
Cons - Will need a mouse or separate touch pad, or will have to use the CTRLR in conjunction, not horrible but..
Also I picked up a Logitech Wireless All-In-One Keyboard tk820
Pros - It has a touch pad built in but not a ghetto one, it's real slick on the right side nice and big, stylish, heavy enough that when you have it on your lap and you use the touch pad it doesn't slide off. For most activities you wont need anything else since you can track with touch pad and type with keyboard. Can also use the FN keys to turn off the MOJO and handle all the multimedia stuff, lovely.
Cons - It is pricey at BestBuy 69.99. You will have to use up a USB slot for the dongle (Logitech unified devices). The touch pad doesn't work for the real interactive games, only the basic ones. Touch pad doesn't quit feel like you are working on the surface of a phone/screen.. would be cool.
Lastly I have plugged in several mice and all have worked well, but I tested my first straight BLUETOOTH mouse.

My BT mini keyboard with mouse touch pad works for alph-numeric keys but I notice the android virtual keyboard keeps coming up and I can't use the backspace nor enter keys, strange becuase it works fine in windows and linux.
My FN keys don't turn off my mojo lol

The issue there (from what I experienced) is that the on-screen keyboard is set to default. Set your BT keyboard as the default and you won't have the other pop up. As soon as you disconnect the BT, the on-screen goes back to default.

Thanks for the reply, I turned everything off in langauges but it still shows, not sure where to se the default keyboard.. my tablet running 4.0.4 has the same settings and does it automatically.
The keyboard mapping works just by escaping out of the virtual keyboard, so that's good enough for me

I am using a Logitech K270 - it seems that the mapping is not completely compatable with MOJO. I can only assume that MOJO is looking for an Android keyboard and/or driver... Am I right? Pls how is the Razor gamepad working? Does all the function keys work, can you reassign the keys ok ? ~Andy aka Two_Wolf~

Stock mojo works with BT2 (needing the USB dongle), CM12 newer BT Smart (no dongle required)
I have no idea what other gamepads use but if it's BT it will pair to mojo

I plan to buy Mojo these days, there is an offer in my country (Greece) for 89€
1. Anyone knows what's the latest official version of Mojo? I can't find anything on internet about that. Its still 4.2???
2. I will be able to run 1080p on Kodi without probs? I saw also an update that came out on June 2014 that promised 4k capabilities, is that also available?
3. Anyone knows if Football Manager 2016 Touch is supported for Mojo? It says that it run in Nvidia Shield, that i assume its the same thing, just to be sure.

Think so. Someone recently posted that they received word from the folks at Mad Catz stating they stopped working on the project. Never tried Kodi on it, but I know for a fact you can use 1080p.
Ended up selling my MOJO just a over month ago though. It had such a huge potential

I have sent also a ticket to Mad Catz with the same question, i will respond back when i will have news. But in the meantime, i can't understand why people abandon this device. It plays 1080p movies and 4K (so Kodi is used at its best here), and also you take a awesome controller which can be used with games in the tv. Ok not anything spectacular (we have pc for that) but some nice games at least. Also you take a traveler clip where you can have your smartphone on the controller and the specs of mojo itself, if there is a capable rom creator, let you have new version of Android in the future easily.
Its very sad that i see that very few people are using the device and making roms. I bought it for 70 euro and i believe its better than most rk media players out there.

Hey, you can plug a mouse but with the controller itself it has an integrated mouse "mode" that behave like a mouse so it's not so needed. If you please tell me exact what apps you are looking for, and i will test them later today to report back.

For me, the main problem is that 4.2.2 doesn't have so much compatibility with the apps in playstore. (even if i manage to spoof the device). It would be nice to have at least Lollipop

Nah, it doesn't support Amazon video, primary reason why I sold it.
Well, rumors first spread Mad Catz was bringing new update and support Android TV.... As of now, nothing!
The controller is great, hardware is great, no doubt about it. But the lack of future official updates makes it another unused sitting console next to the TV. If something happens, I will probably buy it again (and I made a profit selling it though!).
