If I flash the EC09 version of CWM to then flash the EC09 modem, can I revert back to stock recovery via Odin?

Yes. Just reflash stock kernel, then the adrynalyne test4 for your cwm, and you will be back to the way we've been doing it, up to this point. Let me know if you need a standalone kernel. I don't recall if there is one floating around, except for in Heimdall versions.

It sounds like you're under the impression I use the old CWM but that is incorrect. I do not use/want CWM at all. I want to use CWM for the sole purpose of flashing the EC09 modem then go back to stock recovery.

That being the case, simply reflash the stock kernel. That will bring back stock recovery

After flashing EC09 CWM, I don't have to reflash recovery.bin just zImage? That's not confusing at all...
While we're at it, do you know the shell commands to dump recovery.bin and zImage?

Now that I think about it, you probably do... Sorry. It's been a hellacious day. As for pulling the images...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926546

I don't have a Linux environment installed to run the commands. TW, would you mind pulling recovery.bin and zImage from stock EC09 and packaging them into a tar so I can flash them via Odin?

Sweet. You da man.
Edit: Actually I can use a Terminal Emulator to dump the two partitions and use Root Explorer to tar them. Root Explorer just puts the two files in a .tar. Is that sufficient to flash via Odin?

Yeah. Tar will work for ODIN. All the md5 is is a check, to make sure the file isn't corrupted.

There is the link. It's both the kernel and recovery in one file, if you want to use it.

Flashing just modem with Odin

Hello
I'm trying to flash the jpu modem on stock jpy since I had good results with it. I don't really know where to get it correctly. I've found a jpu modem in the doc rom thread, but it's some zip file, i took the modem.bin file out and just made a TAR out of it. seems other modem tar files include just that.
But i don't know if it's correct.
And I'd welcome info on how to flash it, should I put it in the phone field?
Since this is a great way to brick a phone, I'd like some advice on this matter.
Thank you.
You can use heimdal and just flash the modem.bin directly

Don't put it in a TAR file. Just flash the modem.bin directly. Put it in the "PHONE" box. Make sure Repartition is unchecked and no other fields are filled.
After it's done, go to About to verify it flashed correctly. (Look at Baseband)
Done, running JPU modem on stock JPY...seems to also boot faster now
Thank you.
Hi
I am new to Flashing .. Do I need to do Factory Reset even for flashing only the modem.bin file or not..pls reply.

The .zip file in Doc's thread is meant to be flashed through recovery (CWM or 2e). But I guess flashing through Odin worked for you, so all's well.

Full Odin DI01 package...but have a question...

http://adrynalyne.us/files/kernels/DI01package3.tar.md5
Mirror:
http://galaxysense.com/DI01package3.tar.md5
Flash via PDA in Odin. Use at your own risk, you will be unrooted and fully bloated DI01 after flash. Good for returning to stock, or fixing your breaks.
Please note:
While this should remove Voodoo 4/5 (and anything else), you should take all other paths to remove it first.
Flashes:
Modem
Kernel
System
Recovery
Formats:
Dbdata
Data
Cache
Does not include:
Recovery.
You can get recovery as a separate package if you really need it, from the stickied Odin thread.
My question is that I unziped the package and I see boot, cache.rfs, dbdata.rfs, factoryfs.rfs, modem, movinand, param.lfs, recovery, sbl, zimage. Ok....it says that I have to flash modem, kernel, system, and recovery....but where is kernel and system...???? and for the formatting part...where or which one is the Data??
And my final question is do I just open those stuff on PDA? through using odin?
I am sorry guys...I am just so nube...and I read more than 100s of replies but I dont understand or dont see my questions....so please help me experts!!!!
Wait, what? You don't unzip anything. Just put the package in the PDA box in odin. I just got done doing this.
It's just telling you what it does...doesn't mean you go taking those files out. Like I said, just put the whole file in the pda box in odin

cant get the el22 update

i dont know what to do anymore. i have tried the ota over 10 times and it dl's then stops half way through the installation. i was on a ec05plus tar so i odined back to the ec05 with the same thing happening. . i have tried the manual update but when i flash that, it aborts it. what other options do i have. thanks
Use the el30 odin packages by toadlife I'm sre this is what your end result would have been right? If you need the modem there is a ei22 to el30 or an ec05 to ei22 as well hope this helps.
Odin package: http://xda.toadlife.net.nyud.net/ROMs/SPH-D700/EL30/SPH-D700_ripped_stock_EL30_ODIN.zip
Use this in odin and you'll be good to go

i still have a problem. i followed the directions perfectly. i odined acs. odined the new kernel. flashed su. went back to recovery. it was in blue letters like it should be and then tried to flash a rom and it seemed to start but then brought me back to recovery every time no matter what rom i flashed. and the only way i could even get back to use the phone was to odin acs recovery again. no matter how often i rebooted system it would bring me back to recovery until i odined. am i doing something wrong? if it helps when i was flashing it said cwm 5.0.2.7 but when i went in the first time to flash su. it showed cwm 5.0.0.0. dont know if that matters. thanks
Wow I can't believe ima about to say this don't use acs cwm. There's a sticky in android development for cwm5.0.2.7 that you can odin in I'm sure you just odined in the incorrect acs
ACS Recovery5 1.0.0.0.0 is what you were needing to flash

i was flashing marcus revival. i did odin acs recovery 5.1..0.0.0. so when i flash i need to just leave it alone when it goes back into the blue lettering in recovery? how do i know when its done?
Okay odin in the cwm5 recovery ill link it make sure you got the .tar and once that's done boot into it. Wipe data cache and dalvik and flash marcusants rom it will say checking state of bml/mtd and it will reboot and put you back in and saying installing up date it will say complete and should reboot you automatically

ok sorry already have a problem. when i odined i knew i had to flash su first to be rooted but when i put it into recovery it came up in manual mode with no options but reboot apply update wipe date and wipe cache. did this happen because i had to odin acs also or odin a kernal again?
This is what is needed you odin in the recovery don't have auto reboot checked and 3 finger salute into cwm power button camera and volume down... then you'll be in cwm5 flash the el30 kernel from toadlife and then you can just flash su if you planon staying on stock if not then flash the rom you want to be on...

sounds like somebody didn't read the sticky in the dev section very well
start over. odin a stock ec05, run the root package, flash whichever modem you want (probably the latest, there's a flashable zip to go from ec05-el30), then flash the rom of your choice. easy as that.
okay it started to work as you guys sent this info but anyway heres what i have. model sph-700
firmware 2.3.5
baseband s:d700.0.55.ec05
kernel 2.6.35.7 shadow

im running marcus rom just flashed
is this all up to date?

I Cannot root my EL30 Gingerbread!

I have the ACS recovery files...
I have su.zip
I have the GB kernel or whatever.
I can't root the thing.
What am I missing? I tried Odining the ACS recovery and it does not give me the new recovery menu when I do the 3 fingers...
I personally would grab the CWM 5.027 Odinable recovery and follow qbking's video here:

Yes. It is very simple. Doing it the 2 step way couldn't be easier.
1. Stock el30, Odin the kernel that allows it to boot another recovery
2. Odin cwm.
3. I flashed directly to an mtd rom and couldnt be happier.
I have owned this epic since launch and can honestly say this is the best my phone has ever ran. All around clean gb1.1.2 w no CPU control, just letting the rom do its thing and setting all of my stuff up I have never had such good battery life. Stable on cm9 also but cm9 does use more juice than your standard gb roms. Mtd "basically" just provides you more room. Very crude explanation but that's the lamens terms

I thought no one did an odinable prerooted yet for us. Toadlife's was full stock, unrooted. Easiest thing to do is Odin EL30, Odin cwm 5.027 with auto reboot unchecked. Remove from computer, pop battery in and out, 3 finger into CWM and flash a prerooted EL30 ROM or MTD ROM of choice.

What he said. If your staying with stock rom. When you go into cwm. Flash. Superuser.zip. and then you should be fine. Before on EI22 there was a file that you had to delete. But I haven't been able to locate the file since.

Boy that could be bad...
BUT if you get to Download mode you may be able to grab the full MK2 Odin-able .tar you should be Okay.
Please note that the sph-L720 is NOT the L720T. If you have that version and you flash this .tar you'll be hosed.

Make sure to Run Odin 'as administrator'.
From the zip just extract the .tar.md5 and place that into the PDA slot. Odin 3.09 seems to be working the best for most on this device.

You'll be stock everything - baseband(modem), kernel, recovery and ROM.
You will have the knox bootloader, so when you flash a custom recovery you'll 'trip' that. But not really a big deal. You can remove the 'Knox software(s) if you want - there are some removal scripts here in the forums. Only thing is you can't Odin back before MJA/MK2.
To root you can use CF-Autoroot or Saferoot, then use Goomanager or find a recovery zip here and install custom recovery of your choice.

Ok when i try to open the mk2 file it keeps saying the md5 hash is invalid. Ive tried 3 different odins to open it and i get the same result..
You don't open the .tar.md5 file.
You place this file - L720VPUEMK2_L720SPTEMK2_L720VPUEMK2_HOME.tar.md5 in the PDA slot.
