Boy that could be bad...
BUT if you get to Download mode you may be able to grab the full MK2 Odin-able .tar you should be Okay.
Please note that the sph-L720 is NOT the L720T. If you have that version and you flash this .tar you'll be hosed.

Make sure to Run Odin 'as administrator'.
From the zip just extract the .tar.md5 and place that into the PDA slot. Odin 3.09 seems to be working the best for most on this device.

Yup just downloaded that odin actually, but i have to wait about an hour for that mk2 file to download. And thanks i know I've actually done this before but on mf9 so it was a little easier. Will this bring me back to stock?
Thanks

You'll be stock everything - baseband(modem), kernel, recovery and ROM.
You will have the knox bootloader, so when you flash a custom recovery you'll 'trip' that. But not really a big deal. You can remove the 'Knox software(s) if you want - there are some removal scripts here in the forums. Only thing is you can't Odin back before MJA/MK2.
To root you can use CF-Autoroot or Saferoot, then use Goomanager or find a recovery zip here and install custom recovery of your choice.

Ok when i try to open the mk2 file it keeps saying the md5 hash is invalid. Ive tried 3 different odins to open it and i get the same result..
You don't open the .tar.md5 file.
You place this file - L720VPUEMK2_L720SPTEMK2_L720VPUEMK2_HOME.tar.md5 in the PDA slot.

have you tried heimdall? its unbricked me a few times, and its way easier to use too. i think you can use ob both windows and mac, i used on mac. if you are familiar with how to use a command line tool or terminal, this is the way to go. just my humble opinion.

Hey Ive been running infamousness alpha s4 rom. Tried to flash 9.0 but go stuck in a boot loop. So I looked into it people said it was twsp recovery. So I downloaded philz recovery and flashed it. I forgot to flash Loki doki and I put my phone into recovery mood and now the exclamation mark keeps popping up saying system not authorized by AT&T. Idk what to do can anyone help??
Ok managed to restart the phone by holding all volume down and home and off. But now I don't know what to do about the recovery. If I go into recovery it will probably happen again. Is there a way to go into the system files and delete

I've including a link to a guide. It is not for the i337 so don't use any files referenced in it. But it's a good guide. You're going to want to get the firmware from sammobile.com. You have to register but it's free. Download the firmware for your specific device. You'll download a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file. Use that in Odin, PDA.

Ok so I started out on 4.2.2 & never took the 4.3 update in light of all the backtalk about the knox BS... I do my research first lol
But to install a 4.3 ROM I needed to odin the firmware/baseband to mk2... Soft bricked it... Every time I odined that mk2 firmware it would soft brick...
Odined back to 4.2.2 did everything all over again(root & philz touch CWM) & still soft bricked it when I tried to odin the mk2 firmware...
Realized that odin'ing to the mk2 firmware forever ruined any chances of going back to No Knox Stock pre-mk2.
I did however get past the "firmware update FC everything" with a simple factory reset from the devices settings menu!!! Needless to say it wasn't easy between all the FC's lol, but...... Yay no more FC!!!
So, now I'm stuck at stock rooted OTA mk2 with Philz Touch CWM(the only way I could safely get the proper firmware & cant seem to flash a single thing whatsoever...)
I'm a seasoned vet here, ex ACS themer, well over 5000 flashes on my belt & I NEEDS MY FIX!!! Someone please tell me theres a way to flash a ROM after all the BS I've been thru here...
If you were trying to flash the MK2 firmware (modem) by Unknownforce one of the things metioned was
NOTE: With MJA/MK2 Firmware, some people report better success with turning Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time unchecked. Do the same flash, but when you see PASS on Odin, unplug the phone and Hold the Power key for 10 seconds to reboot.

Also installing that firmware does NOT put knox bootloader on your system.
Taking the OTA however does!
IF you do have the latest Philz (philz_touch_6.08.9-jfltespr) you should be able to flash most ROMs.
In the last week there have been three or four ROMs that have been updated/released and they all run well. Big thing with flashing is that some builds require different recoveries and/or flashing instructions (as per the dev's OP). Some require rebooting of recovery etc.

Tried this also no luck... although im running Philz v6.0.4.5
& once you install firmware that has knox you cant go back to no-knox versions...
try flashing the latest twrp from Philz, reboot recovery then in TWRP goto advanced and 'fix permissions. Then reboot.
Then back to recovery, flash Philz, reboot recovery and try install from again.
Either way... I still cant get anything to flash lol
I just need to flash something lol

I think the partition that holds the recovery.img might have gotten corrupted or something that is causing your problems. I would try using odin 3.09 to flash the MK2 full stock tar to bring your phone back to an unaltered state. Then re root using safe root or cf autoroot. Then try to install the recovery you want. Might be less of a headache then fighting this problem you keep having getting a recovery to work.
I accidentally overwritten the SecSettings.apk- so now every time I try to open the settings app it crashes..
Does anyone have a copy of the settings apk?
Any info is much appreciated!

I have no clue on how to check the firmware without the settings application...feels sort of hopeless haha.
Do you think if I flash a new rom everything will work?
I don't have a recovery installed and everytime I try installing one I get the "seandroid enforcing" bit with it boot looping.

You can dirty flash the rom you are on without wiping and all should be restored, just reflash the custom recovery and reroot afterwards.

Hi I'm wondering if you can help me- I tried to follow az_biker's instructions about rooting installing recovery and flashing ROMs. I'm on NC4, rooted with towelroot, installed busybox, safestrap 3.75, root checker and Chainfire's SuperSu. I was unable to flash or install baja rom. Then in step 8- and in Odin, downloading to target- getting the phone recognized in the hilighted 'ID-COM' and one line in the messages 'ADDED!'. When hitting 'AD' to find the MJE tar file, it was nowhere to be founnd. I even put the file on my desktop but for some reason Odin just dosent see it. I did finally install the Baja 4th of July version since this was a prior step and downloaded it which could only be found in the downloads. In Safestrap I found the zip file and did another wipe, hit back, advanced, wiped all but sd card then installed it. In the process it did say 'can't find MD5 file and continued and did finish- 'installed successfully'. When trying to reboot system, the phone goes dead. The only thing I can do at this point is remove the battery and boot into recovery but system will not boot. I'd gladly send a donation to anyone that could shed some light this and tell me what to do, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi thanks for posting- I bought the phone and within 2 weeks the OTA for kitkat came out so I took it. The baseband is NC4 now and I dont know what it was before kk upgrade. Yes using the AP button in Odin. The title of the MJE tar file is this:
ALL_N900VVRUBMJE_N900VVZWMJE_2106277_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
This file does not seem to be zipped up and it has a blank piece of paper for an icon. .
I now see where the md5 came from. I cannot do anything but remove battery and put back in then it only boots into safestrap. Another mistake I made was not making a backup of the stock rom. Any suggestions?

You can't use the MJE tar file since you took the OTA, you would need the NC4 full tar file. You should be able to boot into download mode from SS or by turning the device off and holding down Home, then Volume down, then Power. You can try doing a factory reset in the stock recovery by holding down Home, Volume up and Power.

You don't need to redownload it. You should wipe everything but the Micro SDcard whenever you install a new ROM. You won't have the errors once you wipe everything and install the ROM again.

Hi again all is worki g fine except lost alot of apps & widgets- voicemail, samsung hub etc., just trying to figure getting it all back on. I notice baja is faster also can't find how to increase battery but I will have to play with it. So what rom do you use?
Hey guys, I'm trying to flash [ROM][ODIN]SPH-L720 MF9 (MF9 Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM - No Data Wipe - Rooted) by rwilco12. This is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486134 . I cannot proceed with flashing because I have run into a bit of a problem. I am trying to flash to unlock my phone but at step 8 I've run into a snag. After I press start it fails. I see the yellow com box and everything but it still fails, I am also in Download Mode. I will include a before start picture and then what happens when it fails..see attached. TY.
Are you on MK2 or NAE by chance? If you are you cannot go back to the MF9 bootloader and that would explain the Odin failure.

Ok I just did the MK2/NAE tar which is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663619 . After I did that I tried to flash the One click again and it still gave me the fail...why?
Try the non-one click with Odin v3.07 and just the .tar file.

If you are on MK2 or NAE currently, you cannot use that one click program. It is only for use with the prepackaged MF9 rom that it comes with.

Here is the NAE .tar file (The download for it is in the big blue section) you need to make an account before being able to download it tho.

Ok I have successfully flashed the rom NAE .tar you just gave to me...But what does that do for me? To domestic unlock my phone I have to revert back to MF9 touchwiz rom. And according to frostedunit I cannot flash to MF9 when I have NAE as my current baseband.
You can still flash MF9 ROM/Modem but you cant flash the MF9.tar file because it includes a non-KNOX bootloader

I know im being really nooby and annoying you with questions but the TW Rom for MF9 is located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471 but which one do I download? Is it the stock MF9 Recovery?
None of those include the modem.. just ROM. Idk to much about unlocking phones but are you sure you need the mf9 rom and modem or just the modem to unlock your phone?
Honestly I'm not positive but in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530610 he says that he reverted back to the MF9 touchwiz rom so Im just trying to be a robot and follow directions...I'm really just doing this for a friend and know little about the S4 community let alone this is a dumb Sprint phone. I have a OnePlus One myself.
Here is the MF9 modem https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23321874045862587

That file is the ROM but you need a custom recovery to flash it.

Ok so far I flashed the recovery, the modem, and the rom successfully does this mean I can now flash using the one click rom?
No you cant flash because you have the new bootloader but cant you go ahead and do the unlocking now?
