cant get the el22 update - Epic 4G General

i dont know what to do anymore. i have tried the ota over 10 times and it dl's then stops half way through the installation. i was on a ec05plus tar so i odined back to the ec05 with the same thing happening. . i have tried the manual update but when i flash that, it aborts it. what other options do i have. thanks

Use the el30 odin packages by toadlife I'm sre this is what your end result would have been right? If you need the modem there is a ei22 to el30 or an ec05 to ei22 as well hope this helps.
Odin package: http://xda.toadlife.net.nyud.net/ROMs/SPH-D700/EL30/SPH-D700_ripped_stock_EL30_ODIN.zip
Use this in odin and you'll be good to go

i still have a problem. i followed the directions perfectly. i odined acs. odined the new kernel. flashed su. went back to recovery. it was in blue letters like it should be and then tried to flash a rom and it seemed to start but then brought me back to recovery every time no matter what rom i flashed. and the only way i could even get back to use the phone was to odin acs recovery again. no matter how often i rebooted system it would bring me back to recovery until i odined. am i doing something wrong? if it helps when i was flashing it said cwm 5.0.2.7 but when i went in the first time to flash su. it showed cwm 5.0.0.0. dont know if that matters. thanks

Wow I can't believe ima about to say this don't use acs cwm. There's a sticky in android development for cwm5.0.2.7 that you can odin in I'm sure you just odined in the incorrect acs
ACS Recovery5 1.0.0.0.0 is what you were needing to flash

What rom were you flashing? If it was mtd its going to reboot your recovery and put you on mtd cwm5 which is cyan blue almost and will finish flashing...

i was flashing marcus revival. i did odin acs recovery 5.1..0.0.0. so when i flash i need to just leave it alone when it goes back into the blue lettering in recovery? how do i know when its done?

Okay odin in the cwm5 recovery ill link it make sure you got the .tar and once that's done boot into it. Wipe data cache and dalvik and flash marcusants rom it will say checking state of bml/mtd and it will reboot and put you back in and saying installing up date it will say complete and should reboot you automatically

ok sorry already have a problem. when i odined i knew i had to flash su first to be rooted but when i put it into recovery it came up in manual mode with no options but reboot apply update wipe date and wipe cache. did this happen because i had to odin acs also or odin a kernal again?

This is what is needed you odin in the recovery don't have auto reboot checked and 3 finger salute into cwm power button camera and volume down... then you'll be in cwm5 flash the el30 kernel from toadlife and then you can just flash su if you planon staying on stock if not then flash the rom you want to be on...

start over. odin a stock ec05, run the root package, flash whichever modem you want (probably the latest, there's a flashable zip to go from ec05-el30), then flash the rom of your choice. easy as that.

okay it started to work as you guys sent this info but anyway heres what i have. model sph-700

General Confusion

I just got a Fascinate as my work phone... I have a modded Vibrant as my personal phone.... Everything seems to be a little more complicated with this model compared to my Vibrant. I have 2.1 update 1 on it right now.....
I downloaded SuperClean 2.8 VooDoo edition..... So my upgrade path should be...
Root.....
Odin.... CWM-Recovery.....
My question is do I have to flash the radio/modem individually or will the Rom write it for me as it does on the Vibrant?
Then flash Rom in CWM... Boot... Wait for lagfix.... and Done....
Feel free to poke holes in my thought process here..... Thanks in advance....
You will need to flash the radio separately from the ROM/Kernel.
Unfoutnatly, cwm can't flash the radio yet. Its quite unfournate, and makes it inconvenient as well.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
The order you should follow is root, flash cwm in Odin, make sure you have superclean on your sd, turn off phone and remove battery, flash eb01 modem in Odin, put battery back in and boot recovery, flash Rom first and kernel second, reboot and enjoy.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Thanks guys...
EDIT: Will I have to re-activate since the Modem changed?
Also make sure in Odin you flash using the PDA option.
Yeah... I'm not new to ODIN just the fascinate steps....
you have to flash that sperately. just make sure your kernal isnt still in your firmware folder.

problems with installing the syndicaterom frozen 1.1

hey all,
im fairly new to android and i've only had my phone for about a few weeks, but i do love to tinker and im fairly computer literate.
my goal is go install SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0(standard), for the speed and lightweight-ness(probably not a real word).
i've followed the instructions numerous times, but i think im definitely doing something wrong since its not working.
3-4 days ago i did install the "Froyo EC05 Prerooted/ClockWorkMod v2.5.1.0 (RFS Filesystem) Odexed" ROM from AndroidCentral, and it worked pretty well over the weekend.
after reading up about SyndicateROM frozen 1.1.0, it seemed like a natural progression for me. i've been struggling all morning with installing it. with modem firmwares, with clockwork(tho it did get installed)
i just flashed my phone back to 2.1 using Odin3+v1.61. i have the windows drivers installed properly. No SuperUser is installed. looks pretty plain jane 2.1 to me.
firmware: 2.1-update1
baseband : S700.0.5S.DI18
kernal: 2.6.29
build number: SPH-D700 ECLAIR.DI18
hardware version D700.0.5
how do i know what version my modem is?
in terms of following the instructions right now, which path would i follow?
looks like i need to follow "If you are not on EC05 or SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.1/1.0.2:"
if thats the case, do i run CWM3 first? or do i flash the modem first?
also, when i go to flash my modem with "acs-ec05-modem.tar" in odin, it seems like the only field that will take a TAR file is the PDA field. is that correct?
the next step is to install/run clockwork, Wipe data for best results, and flash the ROM.
how do i go about flashing the rom in clockwork? is it the "apply update.zip" ?
to save you some time do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
Odin this: Stock EB13 Deodexed EXT4 + CW 3.0.0.6 (found in the link above)
Then odin the ec05 modem

You modem is the baseband so urs is d118,
in order to upgrade it, either use odin or i believe there is a flashable zip around the development section as well.

Sorry i changed my post just odin the above like you did for d118, and then odin the ec05 modem then flash syndicate.
And the modem goes in the phone section, it takes tar files
when you say flash syndicate, i have to boot into clockwork right? then goto "apply update", find the syndicate zip file and let it do its thing?
i did find a critical error tho, i looked on my sdcard, and my syndicaterom.zip(frozen 1.1.0) was only 1.5megs. hummm looks like my copy got jacked up.
After you odin and it re boots power off then go into cwm to let it do the ext4 conversion then it will boot then power off and flash modem then flash rom.

Benchmarks don't really mean anything unless you're comparing your phone to someone else's which I recognize that you are doing. As long as your phone is quick and smooth you're fine. Those numbers seem about right from what I've seen others post.
My universal process:
backup
format sd card
odin3 and flash stock of choice
root phone with clockwork mod of choice
install rom of choice
wipe wipe wipe
install kernal of choice
do a cartwheel

I Cannot root my EL30 Gingerbread!

I have the ACS recovery files...
I have su.zip
I have the GB kernel or whatever.
I can't root the thing.
What am I missing? I tried Odining the ACS recovery and it does not give me the new recovery menu when I do the 3 fingers...
I personally would grab the CWM 5.027 Odinable recovery and follow qbking's video here:

Yes. It is very simple. Doing it the 2 step way couldn't be easier.
1. Stock el30, Odin the kernel that allows it to boot another recovery
2. Odin cwm.
3. I flashed directly to an mtd rom and couldnt be happier.
I have owned this epic since launch and can honestly say this is the best my phone has ever ran. All around clean gb1.1.2 w no CPU control, just letting the rom do its thing and setting all of my stuff up I have never had such good battery life. Stable on cm9 also but cm9 does use more juice than your standard gb roms. Mtd "basically" just provides you more room. Very crude explanation but that's the lamens terms

I thought no one did an odinable prerooted yet for us. Toadlife's was full stock, unrooted. Easiest thing to do is Odin EL30, Odin cwm 5.027 with auto reboot unchecked. Remove from computer, pop battery in and out, 3 finger into CWM and flash a prerooted EL30 ROM or MTD ROM of choice.

[Q] I really need some help please..

I've been on CM9 since Alpha 1 so thats what, 2 months? Well anyways, that means ive been away from GB and all of its issues for so long i forgot how to find certain things.
I was backing up my sd card and stuff cu i was ready to try out some GB TW just to see what sprint/sammy has been upto, but i have a big dilemma. I remember that in order to root GB, you had to flash a CWM through Odin, however i deleted the CWM files i had (i think i had 3.1 or something and 5.0.something) because i figured theyd be easy to find again, but i cant find them anywhere! Not even the wiki!
I was looking for a stock FC09 TAR to convert me back to BML and clear out my phone from all the hiccups i caused but i cant find it so i was trying to settle for stock EL30 TAR without ANY mod's because its been a while so i dont wanna take any chances because im way more accustomed to ICS than GB.
I figure install EL30 then update to fc09 and keep it like that for a few days until i miss ICS again and reflash to CM9-B1.
So, does anyone know where i may find the relevant files i need?
Also, after flashing stock GB, what do you recommend i do afterwards to help improve it?
Thanks and sorry for the long post...any help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded with tits
Search "epic 4g gb kernel source" its the ei22 kernel by mkasick you odin. And search clockwork mod 5.0.2.7 epic 4g you should be able to find the threads for em. Search stock el30 epic 4g. All this through xda's search should bring you what you want.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
LOL i found all of those but those are so old i figured they were outdated! But really sitting there and telling me to search still doesnt help me and its insulting that you, biggoron, would even think i wouldnt search before posting...i need to know what to do because all of this info is now a clusterfuck, unlike when they first came out everything was sequential and easy to follow...
So, first i would flash EL30 stock tar and click repartition to get it to BML and then OTA to FC09 and then Odin ei22 clean kernel and then update CWM to 5.0 through clean kernel CWM and then flash any fc09 kernel and i should be set, right?
I dont remember the exact process, man i miss the OCR method
im sorry was in a hurry lol.. now that im sitting at my desk i can grab all those links and instructions .
For Rooting El30 or any GB for that matter :
Flash this kernel through odin without anything checked. Then pop out the battery and flash this Recovery. Once that is done you can find an super user .zip to flash su-efgh-3.0.zip and all that jazz. That is if you plan on staying on stock if not just download and flash your custom ROM of choice.
To go Back to stock :
Simply flash this Stock EL30 TAR through odin.
Notes: For flashing through odin you download the .tar.md5 versions of everything.
Zips are for recovery .
Even you need anything else or have any trouble feel free to PM me .
Edit you would odin just the stock tar... then accept the ota then follow the root process... and its the kernelGBa3.tar that you want to odin then recovery then flash the su.zip. then you can flash an fc09 kernel but make a nandroid just incase. Also in between flashing the kernel and odin you'll unplug it pop out the battery and put it back in and go into download mode and then flash the recovery.

[Solved]Need help after formatting internal storage! Soft Brick

I truly need the community's help on this one. Trying to fix a rom that I was using, I decided to wipe everything to reflash it. However, some how I read the thread wrong. Using TWRP, I formatted the "internal storage" thinking that was going to fix my Rom problems.
Now, I can't boot into the Rom or any rom, unless I wipe everything and restore one of my back ups. I restored a back up and it booted, but my data is jacked and phone service is not operable. I thought maybe a reboot will fix it, and now my phone is stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S 4". It doesn't move from there.
What should I do? How do I get it it continue the boot into the rom after a regular reboot? How do I get my radio back?
It's funny to me because I usually never get this careless with my phone. So I can laugh about it but damn I have to figure this one out!
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am by know means an expert but I think you may have to start here with the firmware files then try and flash your backup http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919

Have you tried flashing the complete odin ROM? You can find the all in one somewhere on the dev thread, it has rom, kernel, firmware and the rom all in one as it came from samsung. That should take care of your problem. It will wipe everything, or I think there was also a thread somewhere with odin flashables that didn't wipe data or internal sd but I can't seem to find it right now.

Exactly. I'm on the target. I'm currently waiting for this tar that will unroot the phone. It is MDL but I will update and reroot. I hope this does the ticket. I'm going to use Odin to flash it or unroot.
Well strike two. That didn't work either. I downloaded a unrooted MDL tar and connected to Odin. When through the entire process and it rebooted. It still is stuck at "Samsung Galaxy S4".
I read on the Nexus 7 that I might have to reflash a system.img and boot.img? Someone else had a similar experience on the N7 and had to download it via flashdrive and then install via recovery. I'm not saying that's the case but I wonder if I need to reflash a boot.img or something.
Please help. Not sure where to go at this point. Unrooting didn't help.
Try downloading this file extract the tar and flash that in PC Odin. (don't check repartion!).
That is the full stock MF9 firmware, boot, recovery, kernel and ROM.
Then maybe use CF Autoroot, then goomanger to get twrp and flash one of your nand's

leader, chief, ifly4,...I'm making progress.
leader, actually I flashed a previous version, the MDL via Odin. At first it didn't boot as stated in my previous post. I decided to wipe and factory reset. """"Bingo"""" it booted. Now I'm on MDL and unrooted. However, I transferred my phone over to a previous device so I can't update profile and prl. I'm going to activate the phone and see if it works. For some reason I can't can't seem to get a radio signal on it. It shows the be O with the slash in the middle. This is what it looked like before I deactivated it and lost everything before.
I post back with results. Not quite solved yet.
Thanks leader and everyone else.

if you got MDL to activate you can jst take the OTA update to MF9. It will update it all.
Then use CF-Autoroot to gain root. After that same - install goomanager from Playstore and use it to install TWRP.
