Hi,
I've got a Samsung SGH-i917r v1.3 from Rogers. I don't know if I can flash the same ROM as for SGH-i917. If yes, what's the difference between SGH-i917r and SGH-i917. I don't want to brick it. Thanks in advance.

Same hardware, AT&T one is text branded. Rogers and AT&T phones have different ROMs, AT&T has more "stuff" but Rogers is cleaner. Yes, you can switch the Rogers Rom on AT&T (I have one like that) and the other way around.
Chances to brick re minimal and they all come due to flashing. If you do something wrong there then yes, you can brick it.
if you have doubts flashing a At&t rom onto ur phone then i suggest you flash this one onto it vt2912 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571866 its based on a rogers focus 1.3
I've been switching back and forth between rogers and at&t customs roms and i've yet to encounter any problems
Has anyone successfully installed an Android ROM on the Samsung SGH-i917?

You're offtopic, but I'll let this one slide: not yet and probably the first thing to check is project Haret. However, as an Android owner, I don't really understand why you would want that. De gustibus..., I suppose

NO...do NOT flash a HTC Leo stock ROM on your T-Mobile HD2...
There is only one stock ROM upgrade for that phone, and it's available directly throught the support page for it on t-mobile.com.
There are plenty of custom ROM's you can apply to your T-Mobile HD2, but make sure they SPECIFICALLY say they're for the Tmo model vs. the regular Leo.
I Would recommend Energy Rom or Kumars rom. Energy has been rockin for me the past week.Trust me custom roms make this phone a whole different beast. Remember to flash a new rom you have to have HSPL3 flashed first. This may be why you didn't brick your phone when you tried to flash they Euro HD2 rom which will brick your phone. ALWAYS STAY IN THE TMOBILE ROM SECTION FOR HD2. While they are nearly the same phone they are different and you will brick your phone trying to run EURO HD2 roms on your TMO HD2. We got the good one too, we got 1GB of memory where they got 512MB. poor guys.

lol, if having "the good one" means also having the risky one with the built in perma brick noob grenade, give me the rubbish one that is almost impossible to brick any day!

Well i've been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.... for telus to release the official 2.1 but it seems that that's never going to happen so now I want to root my hero. Since i'm new to rooting my question is which ROM would you guys recommend, I want the one that's the same as the Sense UI 2.1 that would be on the hero if telus wasn't retarded. There are so many ROMs I can't figure out which one is which so if you guys could help it would be appreciated
You can upgrade the Telus Hero to 2.1 without rooting. I did mine the other day.
It will be the unbranded WWE 2.1 ROM

I have not seen this anywhere, do you have a link and just to clarify I have the TELUS hero does it work on this phone.
Once you've installed a recovery rom you can try all the rom's you want. You can switch between then in about 5 minutes or so, so its really easy to try out lots. My guide will allow you to gain root access and install a custom recovery. See my sig for a link.
Kk, Ive been looking more and I think that VillainRom 12 is the best for me anyway

Hi all, just got an upgrade this week to the Atrix and thoroughly enjoying it so far. As a poweruser with the HD2 and all the hacks involved like android on nand etc, the first thing I did out of the box was root it.
Now to my point, all the custom roms I'm seeing seem to be for At+t and Bell (is that the right carriers?), and the forum is Atrix 4G. So can I as a UK user use these same roms/radios that are outlined in the development forum?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.
Greetings. I have the same backround as you . I nearly stayed with my hd2 but i'm glad I didn't. The only gingerbread rom for us is the orange one in the dev forum. I have had no success flashing this yet. Soft bricked 3 times and counting.
There is an international fruit cake in the works rich we will be able to flash from CWM.
So far rooting is fine.
Unlockingbootloader is fine.
flashing Cwm if fine.
I keep meaning to start a t-mob uk thread to collect all the info for us uk tmob users into one place. I will get round to it eventualy if some one doesn't beer me to it.

Hi there.
I am on Orange U.K, and i have successfully flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409. Following this guide to flash the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373.
Many international users have flashed this ROM as well but REMEMBER to unlock your bootloader before even considering flashing this ROM.
When unlocking your bootloader, you will notice that you will only have around 300 total RAM but if you flash the hack relevant to your device, you will retain your RAM when you flash to Gingerbread.
Please follow the guide properly and don't skip any step. BTW, if your bootloader is not unlocked, we will probably be getting Gingerbread soon since the SOAK testing is about to begin very soon.
Similar story, i'm on Orange, followed those steps and it's working great. Just had to replace the missing sound files, but apart from that, works a treat.

Now since we have an unlocked bootloader, you can flash any ROM. Just make sure you flash the proper boot.img for your phone. See the fixes section for the pudding thread.

I thought we still had to be careful with the Roms, as some of them contain files that are tied to the kernel version (until the port everything over). For example, the ninja rom, I believe it is crrently tied to AT&T at the moment. I presumed we had to wait for a safe INTL version..
I think we can install and lunch any Rom now. The only limitation for inte. users is Ram issue. Otherwise will work fine.

great, thanks. Maybe I'll try another rom then I'd like one without any MotoBlur stuff on it, although the French 2.3.4 is running very well.
My friend recently got an Htc Evo 4g and he found out it was flashed to Metro PCS which he did not want, so is there anyway to flash it back to Sprint?

I have not.... was hoping for a simple process to flashing it back to sprint =/ but i'll take a look into that then.
I found that the Evo, my friend has is not rooted and has the 2.3.3 update, I've read to unflash the phone back to sprint i would have to flash a stock ROM that contains the Sprint ESN. but the problem is can a 2.3.3 Evo be rooted at least get CWM on it to flash the stock ROM? anyway around this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First I would find out with sprint if the esn is good.

an Evo flashed to MPCS is likely going to have a bad ESN and will not be able to be activated on Sprint again, hence the reason that phone was probably sold (or was stolen). However, that's not guaranteed. Definitely need to call up Sprint and check the ESN/MEID, or try this website http://www.checkesnfree.com/index.html, no clue if it really works though.
The ESN has not been changed on the device at all. The rom has nothing to do with the carrier. The phone can have whatever rom you desire on it and work on Sprint, MetroPCS, or Cricket if flashed properly. No ESN change necessary.
Btw, if that phone has the 2.3.3 update on it already then it IS a stock Sprint rom, and you won't be flashing other roms to that phone since the boot loader is going to be locked.
However, this should not stop you from being able to put the phone in diagnostic mode and flash the phone back to Sprint using QPST or some other phone flashing software.

Thanks for the response, and yes, the phone was sold to my friend which he later found out it was flashed to Metro PCS, and since the phone is on 2.3.3 the last option would be to call sprint and see if anything can be done.
hi
i just bought a new atrix from a guy and i look in the about info and find it is for bell mobility in Canada. what i am concerned about is is being able to update to ICS when they release the update.
i am in the usa and on the att network
bell may not even offer it. what should i expect. thanks
ps i want the official motorola update only.
thank you for your help
I wouldn't worry because we're not getting ics. If it was going to come out it would have had a leak by now.
And fyi you should never use a stock from anyways, go get neutrino or epinters.

Just because nothing's been leaked it doesn't mean that we aren't getting the update. I just means that nothing's been leaked.

That's just stupid.
First of all, you can't tell people what to do.
Second of all, many important parts of custom ROMs wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for stock.
Plus, you're missing the point entirely.

No, you will not be able to update to ICS even if you're running under AT&T network. The Bell Atrix 4G which is an international version of the Atrix is not the same phone as the AT&T version. Best bet is to unlock your phone and either flash one of the existing ICS or Jelly Bean ROM's, or wait for an official release and hopefully a stock one or a ROM based on the stock one will exist.

No one said you aren't. Just if you are, it won't be through AT&T.
