2nd-init and etc

sorry it has only korean readme and init files
you will need to remove /system/persistent and /sdcard/OpenRecovery folders before install and backup copy init files on /
install is so easy
first root your phone and and connect the usb cable
second copy the files and folders on rar/sdcard and rar/pc_installer/sdcard
third run the batch files(preinstall->main) on rar/pc_installer/pc
last make 'ramdisk' folder on /system/etc and copy init files before install
i think you will need to reboot twice success to run
special thanks for hounjin modding 2nd-init binary
you will can download
modules for it (also you can install it use clockworkmod) from http://dateno1.egloos.com/category/%EB%A1%AC%ED%82%A4%EC%B9%9C%20for%20motoroi
this is example files
you can only the phone root/unroot even 2.2.1
you can also use 2nd-init or boot script and etc (i think make and use module for it is very easy)
also it support ext3 if you copy jbd.ko and ext3.ko on /system/lib/modules

it support setting file and etc
and i edit script and somethings (it for xt720 mixpack )
i use it for skaf, dlna, overclock script, boot sound, etc
also clockworkmod zip file format is very good (it will make easy install/uninstall some app or function)
my rom havn't almost bundle software and i make install pack so if user want something easy install/uninstall that
and i think it only way to root/unroot on phone for 2.2.1

ok i think you misunderstood, or you mean some different app, 2nd-init is to call init.rc once again and kernel reloads its init process files. so the script you refer to must be added after you run 2nd-init, that is not a mod of 2nd-init, but the rom itself, right?

again you mean running clockworkmod from 2nd-init? running the update.zip zip structure is not a clockworkmod standard, but used since android 1.5 on Hero
or you mean something else?
i run clockworkmod from 2nd-init and leave the rest to CWM and its functions, i dont do custom scripts, when its part of cwm.
i edit init script using 2nd-init
so if you have OpenRecovery folder on sdcard it will goto openrecovery edited (it has clockworkmod run menu) and if you not it will edited menu (it can run clockworkmod from system partition)
but i don't know when i use this way why clockworkmod can't format or overwriting boot partition
i make it for rom's modules (every xt720 can run it) (it has 2nd-init&2 bootscript runner and install pack function, backup phone (also ext3 and froyo's sd secure) (if you want you will change everything exclude kernel, lbl, mbm)
clockworkmod's zip format is old type but it can copy, delete, move, symlink etc
so user want to change or add or remove something from phone, it will do that for few second (everyone can making use some packs for phone) (and it's very easy)
i want to everyone install it for phone and many people making pack (it will every one can have own's customized rom )
sorry for poor english
i success make pack every defalt apps on phone (install/uninstall)
even i make app2ext3 pack if you before parted ext3 partition on sdcard (just install and boot, install and boot, install) (1th install modules and etc and 2nd insert boot script for move and symlink and 3nd remove 2nd's boot script)
i think it will can more easy to using phone
even in korean rooted phone can connect bank's app (it has root check)

[solved] Bootanimations- Change impossible in ۵.ReflexTSenseHD v1.7 DHD

Hello:
i tried to change my Bootanimation but with no Luck.
1. i tried to make a "theme" via Online Kitchen; got a file (about 6mb) flashed it via Recovery but Botscreen stayed at white "HTC-Briliant"
2. i tried to manualy delete the bootaniamtion.zip at /data/app/local with androidmate (free)--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10041079&highlight=bootanimation#post10041079
3. i tried to make my own update.zip ( http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-create-android-update-zip-package/)
script:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:data\app\local data\app\local:
show_progress 0.1 10
4. tried to change the bootimage.zip in NEO's Reflext.Rom by deleting all unneccesary stuf and changing the bootanimation-zip
--> got stuck after Recovery so i had to reflash the whole ROM..
--------------------------------------------
why i'm not able to change this bootanimation ?
can someone provide me a funktional Update-zip for this ROM
(or a HowTo for doing it myself?)
i would like to test these Bootimages:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648555
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905538 (android particle2)
PLEASE Help
EDIT: i also tried via
Terminal Emulator
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB
- Copy the downloaded file to your sdcard
- Disconnect phone from computer
- Open Terminal Emulator on your phone and enter the code below (press enter after every line)
su
cp /sdcard/480x800_AndroidGlow1.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
reboot
Click to collapse
EDIT:
Try putting it into /system/customize/resource
thats where the bootanimation (and the boot sound..) was located on my desire rom.
tried this but:
1: i found no "resource" folder under /system/customize..
2. after creating this folder and copying bootanimation.zip nothing happens
it seems like NEO put it on a special place in his ROM so i cant't figure out..
Test this route: /system/etc/customer/bootanimation.zip ;-)
System/sd/app/local remplace the bootanimation.zip and reboot.
It worked !!
Thanks ASIER
the System/sd/app/local .. did the trick
why does neo uses this folder-structure.. weird ..
(and also thx to raa_ for his help)
does it make sense if i say, i don't have a /system/sd/app/local folder??? the sd part is nowhere to be found
any idea?
edit. found it on my Desire it was under /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
cheers
i think it depends on the ROM you are using!
i use the ReflextSense 1.7 from NEophyte.360
that uses the "unusual" path as postet before.
"normal" Sense ore SenseHD Roms are using different locations as you found out..
it is sad that there's not a standard-path for all roms !

are you sure youre on the system-"partition" ?
i first set the System to Read/Write in SPareparts and afterwards used ESData explorer (in the program you have to enable ROOT funktions..)
--> menu/settingsroot options --> mount filesystem
------
click on the button on the very left (sd-icon) and it should change into a "house"
the path should be a "/"
afterwards choose SYSTEM/SD/APP/Local
in this folder there should be bootanimation.zip, downanimation.zip, shutdown.zip and "placeholder"
hope it helps
I cant find my bootanimation.zip anywhere,Im using insertcoin 1.8f(trying to update to 1.8h with no luck )
this Thread describes Changing BOOTANIMATION in ReflextSense (1.7)
i think insertCoin uses an different Folder for Bootanimation.zip than this rom.
you could try one of these options:
get shure you hav read/write acces to your Root.. (as i described in de Posting before..)
search the "insert coin" thread for Bootanimation.zip
ask in the Thread about the neccesary "Path"
try to download a "change bootanimation" zip from online kitchen or from the forum..
apply the zip via Recovery and if it works !! ... open the zip and analyse the script file (which Path it uses..)
i hope it helps..

I had the right path but was using a software that can't see the folder system/sd/app. I managed to replace the bootanimation.zip with SUFBS. Thank you for your help though.

The simpliest way to install CWM is to plug your phone with debugging mode to your PC and run DMR.bat from this file. More information you'll find in this post.

Mount r/w for /system in root explorer and then copy the files over. GingerDX does not need CWM recovery, it only needs xRecovery to install. So root your x8, install xRecovery, backup phone, full wipe, install GingerDX, wipe cache and dalvik-cache and then reboot. Tada! GingerDX will be running on your phone.
Tada! MD5 missmatch? Did you know how to fix it? Thx again
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Search for "md5 mismatch" on xda.
By the way:
When did you get this?
Because you can get this only when you flash a ROM/backup that consists of syste.img, data.img, cache.img and nandroid.md5 and GingerDX is in an update.zip, so it´s only a .zip-file that contains the /system-folder and a script that makes it flashable in a recovery, so you can´t get a md5 mismatch on this.
hey bro you need xrecovery version 0.1 and you flash it try first a Ginger DX v09 like i d then upgrade ginger dx have clockowrmod installed you can reboot in it i will post a link
Latest versions of GingerDX for X8 need CWM
and I have xRecovery installed on my stock rom. I would update first to CWM my phone and then install GingerDX v016...what I should do? I don't want to brick my phone! Anyone could explain me the correct procedure? Thanks

[Q] How to make a system folder into a system.img

Hello XDA, I'm kind of new to ROMs etc. and would appreciate some help. I am trying to install mikegapinski's 2.3.7 ROM (v5) through fastboot and whereas in the past I have seen a boot.img and a system.img, there is a boot.img and a system folder. Is there a way to make the folder into a system.img file that I could flash onto my GT540?
In short, how do you make a system.img file out of a folder with system files in them?
hey there !
(system.img + boot.img) is for fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
and the (system folder + boot.img) is for recovery
use any recovery
select zip from sdcard
select the zip
i dont think you can convert the folder to a .img(or the other way around) . and if the rom you are talking about mike's aosp v5 then i wont recommend it as for now there are problems with the ram and so it becomes very laggy. i would recommend mur4iks swiftdroid asis but the choice is yours
I know you can 'extract' images using 'unyaffs' but I never made an image from a folder (except when dumping partitions). I think there is a way though.
If you have Linux on your PC, then you can use the 'yaffs' tool. Search it on Google.
This is how even AOSP compiles system folder into system.img

I got it. If you use Linux, you can create an iso file of the system folder, and then convert it to .img. Just follow it:
In a terminal(CTRL+ALT+T):
Code:
mkisofs -o /path/to/the/system/folder ~/system.iso
dd if=~/system.iso of=~/system.img
rm ~/system.iso
Your system.img will be on your home directory.
and it work's too ? (when you flash it from fastboot)

suggestion
take a look at this url, and examine the zip file contained.
you could boot into cwm and install the zip (not suggesting, its what i did)
if u make a zip file in the same layout you could install your zip and it will update the system partition.
as you have a desire, heres whats required
on phone: place phone into fastboot mode
on computer: unzip to a folder , place the img file in such folder,
open a command prompt, (navigate to folder using the cd command)
and type: fastboot boot bravo-cwm.img
mount sd card, toggle usb storage, place your zip in root of sdcard.
then untoggle, go back, select option to install zip from sdcard.
choose select zip file.
find your zip.
tap on the file, and it will install...
you SHOULD by this point have an updated phone as you desired (lol)
if it does not work as you expected, have a look for a standard system.img for your phone, and put that into a zip
name the zip (i put it in caps, weather needed i dont know) PM99IMG.zip
place it into root of sdcard, and put phone into the first screen of recovery menu, the white screen.
it will analyze your zip and ask you to install, press up to flash and then the required option to reboot when its done to revert your phone back to normal.
hope this helps there buddy,
ill most likley forget to check back, so if u need any help pm me and ill see what i can do,
Is this working

stuck on boot annimation

Can anyone please help me recover from a boot problem after implementing the boot animation fix below. My phone now gets stuck at the end of the boot animation and will not go any further. It might be caused because I didn't do the last bit and "change number of loops (usually 0 - after the word p in second line) in bootanimation.zip" I have tried to copy in a new boot animation using android commander, but it won't let me mount /system/media as read and write. What tool and procedure could i use to access the phone file system as writeable? I have never used a shell tool. Is there a graphical tool I could use that would mount the system folder so I can write a file to it?
Can someone please advise on a fix?
I did this procedure below, but forgot to change the number of loops
"1. Rename samsungani in /system/bin to anything
2. Copy bootanimation in /system/bin into this folder and rename it into samsungani
3. Copy your bootanimation.zip into /data/local or /system/media
* this method wont work if there's more than 1 folder in bootanimation.zip
* and don't forget to change number of loops (usually 0 - after the word p in second line) in bootanimation.zip, file part.desc into 1 or more than save it. Otherwise you will get into boot loop in bootanimation "
Simply reflash stock ROM with PC Odin
Yeah reflashing the rom can get you out of the bootloop.
But be sure u r on a Safe Kernel.
Speedmod k3-3 or Chainfire kernel v > 5.6
Before you change the rom,
try this
Before using android commander (I assume that your android commander has not obtained root access)
Open the windows command prompt
Locate your adb.exe and run the command from the same folder as follows.
c:\ADB> adb root
restart android commander
and then try to mount in RW mode
Reflashing ROM why need to have safe kernel??
Oh right u need safe kernel only if ur wiping.
