do i need to have xrecovery installed?

The simpliest way to install CWM is to plug your phone with debugging mode to your PC and run DMR.bat from this file. More information you'll find in this post.

Thanks. It works

Mount r/w for /system in root explorer and then copy the files over. GingerDX does not need CWM recovery, it only needs xRecovery to install. So root your x8, install xRecovery, backup phone, full wipe, install GingerDX, wipe cache and dalvik-cache and then reboot. Tada! GingerDX will be running on your phone.

Tada! MD5 missmatch? Did you know how to fix it? Thx again

Search for "md5 mismatch" on xda.
By the way:
When did you get this?
Because you can get this only when you flash a ROM/backup that consists of syste.img, data.img, cache.img and nandroid.md5 and GingerDX is in an update.zip, so it´s only a .zip-file that contains the /system-folder and a script that makes it flashable in a recovery, so you can´t get a md5 mismatch on this.

hey bro you need xrecovery version 0.1 and you flash it try first a Ginger DX v09 like i d then upgrade ginger dx have clockowrmod installed you can reboot in it i will post a link

Latest versions of GingerDX for X8 need CWM
and I have xRecovery installed on my stock rom. I would update first to CWM my phone and then install GingerDX v016...what I should do? I don't want to brick my phone! Anyone could explain me the correct procedure? Thanks

Flash dualboot with xrecovery then you will have cwm and xrecovery at the same time. You can find dualboot.zip from the multiboot thread

Help Truied seraching!

I need help installing this custom rom! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223
I dont know at all what to do?
What is the adb push?
How do I root? I cant Find xrecovery? What do I need to do with rom in order for it to work?
I dont understand any terminology? Could someone please put up a guide step by step so idiots like me can understand for this rom. I have x8 with offical 2.1 on it? Also can i reinstall 2.1 original rom after?
Thanks
Oh god. If you've so many troubles with merely searching for info maybe you shouldn't even start?...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 - rooting
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426 - xrecovery
Then you go into xrecovery and do what's said in miniCM thread. Enjoy.
E: And as for going back to 2.1 - once you have xrecovery simply make a backup with it, if you don't like CM you can always recover your original rom. Just remember - rooting voids your varranty
dontworry I got a refund for a rooted phone! LOL
Also how do I install xrecovery? I dont understand this:
Manual Installation:
- Download and unpack the recovery package
- use Root Explorer to remount /system rw
- copy the content of the package (3 files) into /system/bin folder
and there is no auto install. Also can I unroot the phone? And remove xrecovery?
Well, I actually do have a xrecovery autoinstall apk which you can download somewhere on this portal, can't exactly remember where - look it up.
As for unrooting - you can do it via superoneclick or by simply deleting superuser.apk.
Xrecovery you normally install by placing its files in proper directories through root explorer app, so once you erase them you no longer have xrecovery. If you find this autoinstall app you'll get these files placed in correct directories automatically, but it's not that hard to do manually

use this xrecovery files.. it works for me, copy this in your system/bin with all the privileges check..
And what about xrecovery v.0.3? 01 works for me too..

Busybox

So I have Busybox installed in my system/xbin (Using the app I downloaded from the market)
I thought of installing xRecovery and according to the guide..
I should extract the files(busybox, chargemon, xrecovery) to system/bin
My questions are:
1. Should I move the busybox in system/xbin to system/bin?
2. Are the 2 busybox the same? Let's not talk about version, talk about the functionality of it.
I'm using: xRecovery-mini-0.1-beta, according to this thread, other versions won't work.
Your replies are greatly appreciated.
My xrecovery updated automatically otherwise try out alfs kernel it has clockworkmod in it. Hope i helped and if i did press the thanks button

[GUIDE] Netfilter Modules X8 X10 for Stock Kernel

This is specially meant for Stock kernel user which don't have kernel iptables function.
Android Firewall
It's a android firewall capable of blocking some app to reach the internet by redirect them to certain address.
It can only activated if only there is Iptables executable & some modules to support it's function.
It's command line configurable but it's way too complicated to us.
You'll Need:
A Sony Ericsson X8 Android phone. (Will work on X10, but not tested.)
Rooted.
Busybox.
CWM Recovery.
Instruction:
Flash this through CWM http://www.mediafire.com/?qcn1jlwilq9l57n
Goto /system/etc & Add those line inside ADD TO HW_CONFIG.SH.txt text file into hw_config.sh.
Reboot
Download Any (I Used DroidWall https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.droidwall.free) to manipulated the iptables to block or allow your app to access the internet.
Say thanks to AnDyX who make this modules. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184907)
I'm just doing the update zip for CWM that's all.
Note: Bootloops or error ARE LIKELY NEVER OCCURED. This is tested on Eclair 2.1.C.0.0 Rom (Offical Sony Ericsson rom for x8) and GDX Rom.

Do NOT flash it with CWM Recovery or xRecovery until CKKnot correct the install script else it will wipe your /system partition and phone won't reboot and you will have to reflash your device.

Could you please be more specific with point 2?
Should I copy all lines (whole content) from ADD TO HW_CONFIG.SH.txt text file and paste them into hw_config.sh? At the end of this file? In some specific point? Nothing to replace in hw_config.sh?
Well, after first try my X8 seems to be bricked. Sony Ericsson logo after reboot

[REQUEST] Flashable Build.prop

anyone who can make me a flashable zip for build.prop? i edited mine and i cant boot...
You can re flash your ROM in recovery or mount system and use something like adb or android commander to push a stable build.prop to it.

For what? Stock GB/ICS, CM9, etc?
If you have valid one you can boot to recovery and use "adb push build.prop /system/build.prop" instead of having a flashable version.
i tried adb and Amora Filemanager and Droid Explorer but i can't delete the files i want to and rename my backup.
so i decided to flash GB rom again.. its a bit of a long shot, but its ok now...
