With Froyo, bootscreen has change location. Now it's system/customize/resources. The problem is that you can't overwrite it, it's protected...... If anyone knows how to fix it .....
If your rooted download Root Explorer (£2.50) from the market, copy bootanimation.zip to SD card then move it to the correct folder using Root Explorer. (mine's is in /data/local) I'm using Pinky Desire v1.3 ROM

works once but cant change the one i push now lol
Have a look inside the file, some bootimages are flashable, some have to be pushed. And if the folder structure is wrong/old in the ones to flash it won't work - extract bootanimation.zip and push it.

yea and how we know its pushable or flashable bootscreens ...

The simpliest way to install CWM is to plug your phone with debugging mode to your PC and run DMR.bat from this file. More information you'll find in this post.

Mount r/w for /system in root explorer and then copy the files over. GingerDX does not need CWM recovery, it only needs xRecovery to install. So root your x8, install xRecovery, backup phone, full wipe, install GingerDX, wipe cache and dalvik-cache and then reboot. Tada! GingerDX will be running on your phone.
Tada! MD5 missmatch? Did you know how to fix it? Thx again
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Search for "md5 mismatch" on xda.
By the way:
When did you get this?
Because you can get this only when you flash a ROM/backup that consists of syste.img, data.img, cache.img and nandroid.md5 and GingerDX is in an update.zip, so it´s only a .zip-file that contains the /system-folder and a script that makes it flashable in a recovery, so you can´t get a md5 mismatch on this.
hey bro you need xrecovery version 0.1 and you flash it try first a Ginger DX v09 like i d then upgrade ginger dx have clockowrmod installed you can reboot in it i will post a link
Latest versions of GingerDX for X8 need CWM
and I have xRecovery installed on my stock rom. I would update first to CWM my phone and then install GingerDX v016...what I should do? I don't want to brick my phone! Anyone could explain me the correct procedure? Thanks

I have a special request. Is there a way to retain the bootanimation of the NookColor's 1.2 Stock ROM? Or at least can someone create a bootanimation.zip that has the Stock ROM's boot animation? I can provide you an original nandroid of the STOCK ROM if it's needed. I hope someone can do this.
Here... extract this zip file, remount /system/ rw and adb the bootanimation (NOT the zip) to /system/bin/ and you will have B&N's 1.2 stock animation.

This. Is. Wicked. Thanks a lot!
UPDATE:
erm... it didn't work for me. Once I placed the content of the zip (bootanimation), in the system/bin it just gave me a blank screen then it went straight to my homescreen. What am I doing wrong? well maybe because I placed the file manually using root explorer. can you tell me how to do it using adb in windows and adb wireless on the nook? what commands should I put on the adb?
UPDATE 2:
I was able to push the file using adb. It still didn't work for me. Maybe we're missing some files? I remember when I'm putting custom bootanimations, I also place a bootanimation.zip in the /system/media directory of the nook...

I know most had a zip in /system/media.... but the stock 1.2 didn't have anything related.... looking through the file I posted, it references some .png files that also are not present... I assumed they were contained as data in the file itself... I will look some more and get this setup for you... Sorry for shorting the research on this one.
Maybe the way Root Tools works will show the way.

Just thought it would be cool to retain the stock bootanimation, that's all. The device is still a NookColor after all, even after installing a CyanogenMod ROM in it. It would be nice if the device would say 'NookColor' when it boots. Just my opinion, though.
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
It needs to be in the correct format. If you can break it down, it will work:
http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Boot_Animation_editing_and_replacement
So maybe play it in the SDK, and record the screen?
EDIT: Or try pushing it to data/local
Also, read through this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863439
When all hope seems lost...
When I thought that all hope seems lost on my desire to get the NC's stock bootanimation, in my NC running cyanogenmod, I came across this amazing stock-that-has-been-rooted bootanimation in YouTube... I think it's fate. LOL.
Pretty neat stuff, courtesy of Suteru. On the YouTube page is a link to the bootanimation.zip
Yup, I installed the bootanimation and it's wicked cool. (^_^)

Put the bootanimation.zip file in the /data/local folder. It will override the bootanimation in the system/bin as long as it's there. If you delete it, the stock animation in /system/bin will show. FWIW, I like this animation from NookDevs which is a variation on the stock animation:

No. You merely need to rename / remove the install-recovery.sh script in /etc to prevent the stock recovery from writing at boot.

Yeah, restoring the file will then cause the stock recovery to be written upon reboot (if you want to go back to the stock recovery for some reason).
same but i solved it
clockworkmodrecovery rom manager find and install
open it and touch flash clockworkmod recovery(first item)
select reboot into recovery manual
mount and storage select
mount USB storage
unmount
++++ go back +++++
install from zip sdcard
find
'' super user.zip'' flash
reboot
es file explorer select setting mark root explorer and mount file system after
select phone in file explorer find etc folder select and find ''install-recovery.sh'' file and rename file for example ''install-recovery.sheski'' and
open rom manager again touch flash clockworkmod recovery(first item)
check it...
i was trying to install a new PA nightly and then i wanted to wipe the phone clean before i install it, but i accidentally wipe the sd card. Can i just use a toolkit and flash stock OS or can i just connect it to pc and paste a zip file of PA? help please
If you can use adb just do
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard
Then install as normal

Why would you? You are as clean as you can get as you wiped everything. Just push PA and gapps to the sdcard as said by Alex240188 before and flash the rom.
so command would be adb push filename.zip/sdcard? no spaces?
doest matter where i put my zip file? no need to indicate the location of the zip file?

It doesn't matter where you put it if you have adb.exe in your environment variables.
If you don't then you have to have it in the same folder as adb.exe and then CD to that folder in command prompt.
You can flash stock images in fastboot then copy new ROM back on if that's easier for you.
On a side note I keep laughing every time I put fastboot in because the slide keyboard always likes to default to Fatboy

thanks for the info, im just wondering if i have stock images downloaded becase when i downloaded mskips toolkit it downloaded the stock 4.2.2
if i can see the images maybe ill flash stock then flash everything again.
there are tutorials all over xda on how to use adb and thats all you need to do is just push it over and flash. The longest part would be simply pushing the file over to your phone... hit up google and check it out
