thanx

Ok, first, You need to do HSPL. Connect your phone via Active Sync, run HSPL4 (download from internet), and select HSPL 2.08. Follow the instructions you've read and these one which you see on the screen Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402975 Then do what is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20519350&postcount=3 use 2nd way. It is easier. Then install CWM (link above). And after all you have to turn on phone holding Power+Home. If everything is good, you'll see blue-black menu, which you can navigate trough by vol+/- and PWR as a selector. Better roms (I don't know if it is rom's option or CWM/CLk) has an option during rebooting - reboot, Recovery and Bootloader). In this last you can set partitions, but better do this during installing rom.
Or try this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KoOWyHZMNo&feature=relmfu

Connect your phone via Active Sync

Don't do that, it will confuse you when the USB times out.
Put the phone into bootloader (stripey screen) by "hold and keep holding voldown, tap and release power". Then connect USB, when the word USB appears in the white area, you can flash magldr, radios, hspl and such.

In short, follow either kylew1212's guide here for cLK or this guide for MAGLDR.

HardSPLing

I have spent most of my evening trying to flash my phone to HardSPL.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
I've searched the forums here and read all sorts of guides, but i cant seem to get anything to work right.
If anyone can point me in the right direction or let me know how this works that would be great.
in particular, what doesnt work right?
I plug my phone in.
Then i run the Rom Update Utility.
It then asks if i want to run JumpSPL on my mobile device.
I select yes.
My phone goes white
It restarts
I recieve a error on the Rom Update Utility
Error 276: Communications error
JumpSPL doesn't really work. I have no idea why it's pitched to be supposed to work.
you need the herald specific HardSPL. Look in the herald forums for a thread with a name something like "HardSPL on herald-working!"

As soon as you get the error..
1. unplug the phone
2. put it in bootloader mode (press camera button + reset button)
3. replug phone back in.
you will see the letters usb on the bottom left hand side of the phone and the phone will continue loading.

to make your herald phone hardSPL. I have done it thru this method without problems. ASERG is one of the best.
I continued my forum search and found some helpful threads.
Finally got the job done.
Thanks!

Need help! Rom update crashed hd2

I tried flashing the following to my HD2. Other ROMs have worked fine.
Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.2.23540.5.5.0_2.10_HG_V1_Radio_2.08.50.08_2_WWE
This time, when resetting it's hanging on the O2 screen. This means I can't get into the phone to try reflashing. How do I fix this please?!!!

You should take a look at the mtty thread if you want to recover from a bad flash...

If you post your problem in that thread, the experts over there will give you all the detailed steps and it won't be so bad after all
And I think that anything would be better than to buy a new HD2?
Grtz,

No, but you shoulda read the n00b flashing guide before flashing...do you have HSPL on your phone? Do you have it SIM-unlocked? Did you flash using activesync or sd card?

I did. I have most rcent HSPL, flashing using activesync and have done 4 "successfull" ROM upgrades.
This one appeared to be fine but when it did auto-reset it's now hanging and not booting into anything useful.
Thanks degake.
If a hard reset doesn't help then MTTY might be the only way out
Problem FIXED
Solution: Followed these steps
"This will remove the need for users, x64 in particular, to use “Unsigned Drivers.” Also since in Vista SP2 (x64 & x86) they removed the “F8” options Completely!
Files Needed:
Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider
Remove Watermark V0.8
1: Run the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider and select “ENABLE TEST MODE” and Press Next
2: There will be a warning to REBOOT, Press “OK”
3: Go Back to Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider Select “Exit” then Click “Next”
4: REBOOT
5: Run the “Remove Watermark V0.8” for you OS type (x64 or x84)
6: In the Command Window type “Y” and wait for the process to complete
7: Once complete REBOOT your system and begin the driver install"
listed in post 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623356
Then
*Bring device into bootloader (Reset + Hold Vol Down), This will show the Red, Blue, Green screen showing "Serial"
From here I was able to re-run the customRRU file to flash the ROM again. (this may have been jumping the gun a little!)
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys.
that'll be MTTY!! Only had to use it once myself but it's a god send

Hi folks,
Had the same problem today with a bad flash, phone wouldnt boot up past o2 welcome screen etc etc.
I fixed it by just going into bootloader (hold volume down button on the side of the device while holding the power button down for 3 seconds) and installing the o2 stock (1.43) rom from my pc.
Edit: Cant seem to post the link as im a new user but "Football" posted it on this forum on 23rd of December if you need to search for it.
Sorry if this seems like a double post of the OPs solution but some people could be confused by the MTTY thread (I was) when in reality theres no need to even look at it.
Hope this helps someone.
Greg
Thanks for posting that comment. I did wonder if MTTY had anything to do with the solution (I dont even understand properly what MTTY is!) so I posted everything I did.
I had a feeling that I could have avoided those steps and just gone straight to the bootloader and you've proved me right. it's a quick and easy solution to a slightly scary problem!

problem with magldr on o2 hd2

before i begin - im a complete newb at this stuff so please bare with me as im very confused. i was following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948 and i got to the pont where i had flashed magldr onto my hd2. but instead of booting up after it was done - it got stuck on the o2 splash screen. Only bought the phone yesterday so im a little anxious. ive tried resetting settings by holding the 2 volume buttons down while i press the power button but that didnt do anything. any help appreciated.
UPDATE: ok ive managed to flash a stock rom onto the hd2 and got it working again. ive upgraded to the latest o2 uk rom. but id stil like android on the device. Does anyone know why magldr might have crashed the phone? the phone is locked to o2 so is that a problem?

What are the steps have you done? Basically flash HSPL to root your phone. Then flash MAGLDR. After these two you can start going to build to pick the ROM to flash.
i went back to the beginning and did everything again - i hadnt updated my radio version, which is why it was getting stuck. but the second time round everything seems to have worked fine - i now have boyppcs gingerbread rom installed. my advice to others - always READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. now if only i could work out how to get that cool 3d effect on the homescreen
dont have a clue how to use magldr
How do you work it?

into bootloader
connect usb lead
ignore the red bit about activesync, so long as it says usb at the bottom of the screen in bootloader, it is fine.
flash a magldr compatible radio (look it up!)
Once magldr is working, you will need to go into activesync and untick 'allow usb connections' ((or maybe thats only for windows mobile device center, , anyone?)) before you can then start using usb for android based flashing.
done.

[SOLVED] Cannot get into tri-color screen, please help!

Hello guys,
Before getting frustrated about just another noob; No, I know the stuff with the volume down button, but it doesn't work (anymore) for me. I'm a noob but not a retard.
I have a very strange and frustrating problem. Like many of you I wanted to install Android 2.3 on my HTC HD2. Unfortunately I'm quite stuck. I did put radio 2.15.50.14, the 2.08.HSPL (with HSPL3_PKG), MAGLDR 1.13 and CWM (MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.0.2.5_for_NexusHD2_135M) on my device, but when I tried to install the ROM via AD Recovery the device didn't show the menu and got stuck on "go go go". That's bad, but even worse is that I couldn't enter the tri-color screen to connect via USB and restore the original stock ROM. However I did manage to boot the "Stock Android" (NAND). Only way I can still flash is via USB Flasher. I read something about cabine (.cab) files that could somehow get you in the boot loader on other HTC devices, but can't find any for the HD2.
Anybody has any idea how I can enter the bootloader and restore my original Windows Mobile?
I have been searching for hours now. I have found similar problems, but no answers are given that can solve my problem.
I hope you smart guys can help me out. Is there maybe any way that I can run Windows Mobile the "NAND-way", to connect to Windows Mobile Device Center and flash my device?
Thanks in advance,
Stef van Son
This morning I just tried the volume down again, after the phone was in the MAGLDR menu the whole night. And now i could make it to the bootloader for some strange reason. Does anybody has an explanation for this?
I'm back to Windows Mobile now and have had it with flashing for now, but maybe after my exams I will go for Android again (I hate WinMo).

You might want to use some of the instructions in my signature... Also check out the CoreDroid thread, we have some pretty good instruction there. Usually if you pull you battery, then turn on your phone while holding vol down button, it will boot directly into the rainbow screen.
Well, I did follow quite good instruction manuals, but at the step of flashing the new rom, my device just didn't do what it was supposed to. It's quite strange, because WinMo 6.5 just works perfectly.
And no, pulling the battery out I tried probably a hundred times...

[HELP] Really need help!!!

Forgive me if this has been posted before but Ive used search and couldnt find anything.
Basically, Ive installed MAGLDR, in my phone and now its stuck at the T-Mobile boot screen. I cant even access the bootlader by holding down the volume key and power.
Is there any thing I can do? :'(
Thanks

Go to this thread, download the toolkit. And follow the instructions. It seems like you failed to partition or load magldr correctly.

Hold the "vol down" key while starting your phone. You should get the 3 color screen. Connect usb, you should see "usb" in the display.
Then start toolkit, choose you system size and install magldr. After starting in magldr go to "Usb Flash" on your handy and then click "Repartition" in the toolkit.

the least you can do is tell him something for his problem. i seriously wonder you just do this smashing for kicks or if something is wrong with you more than him.
As for splinter-cell : here you go mate http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905841.
follow that and you will be up and running. also go back to HD2 windows mobile forum or reflash you original windows mobile stock rom, to go back or start over.
-good luck-

Thanks guys for all of your replies. However, I am having trouble accessing the bootloader. Everytime I hold the volume button down and press the power button, the phone boots up normally and then freezes at the T-Mobile splash screen. Is there any way in which I can "force" the phone into bootloader?

You are doing it the reverse way. Take out the battery and reinsert again. Now as soon as you press the power button, press volume down and keep pressing. You gotta do this real quick.
its not auto starting magldr because you either - 1 don't have 2.08.hspl (no other version hspl will do, only 2.08.hspl) or - 2 don't have a compatible radio , i.e one that is of the ..50.. version number, higher than 2.07.50
once you have both those conditions, magldr will appear without you dong anything when you start the phone, and probably hang at 'failed to load kernel' or something, because there is no ROM to load, but you will know its working, so reboot hold down just power, and the magldr menu will come up, and you can choose usb flashing and move on to flashing cwm.
Guys, still having problems accessing the bootloader
