Re: QSD 8250, Adreno 200 hardware-related proprietary ...
In order to provide enthusiasts with recent improvements made to Snapdragon's Adreno graphics drivers, Qualcomm has made the updated Adreno 2xx graphics driver binaries available here. Note that you will most likely need to be a developer to take advantage of these new drivers since they'll require integration with the CAF release of ICS, but Qualcomm is providing these driver binaries "as is" to those of you who have requested them.

could anyone with more knowledge explain what this exactly means?
yeah, I hope for better HWA (in ICS), of course, but is this right? what exactly are developers able to do with these?

Great find, Kevin. I have moved your thread to Android Software Development and left a long redirect so that more people can learn about this, as it impacts all devices with the Adreno 200 GPU, not just the HD2.
Edit: I have featured this thread on the XDA front page. Again, great find, Kevin!

My question - to someone who knows such stuff - was does it really mean we finally get full ICS HWA?

Indeed. Although, you could say that the HD2 has already had far more than the rhetorical 9 lives, given how many operating systems have been ported to it and how much active development it still sees almost two-and-a-half years later.

I found it on their facebook profile in discussions tab. Heres the thread where they post it.
Italian Milestone 2 (just come on the market, with many months of delay) has 2.2.2 version.
I think it's the update we're waiting
My UK version has 2.2.
In a thread where I posted some bugs with this ROM, they also confirmed an update is on it's way. I however refuse to believe it will be 2.3. More like 2.2.3 with the keyboard fixed and mp3 cracking problem fixed.
Discussion not available...!?
I do expect some updates for my Motorola Milestone 2, too!
It's okay to not treat my M2 like a flagship but still, some updates for a brand new electronic device is obligatory nowadays!

does anybody know if this update would apply for phones in Asia/Asia-Pac?

I agree fully with you. My prev. phone is a Sony-Ericsson one ( C702c ), and, they never fixed any bug in next three years after the phone release. Maybe Motorola will upgrade MS2 to Android 2.4 or some version later, but locking BootLoader is quite unwise, they should leave the choice to customer.
Sorry for my poor English.

my previous phone was an X1, and they only launched a ROM update with bug fixes and slightly better performance (still on WM6.1 though) a year after the phone was launched. sadly though back then, there wasnt much competition, nor were there many phones with a slide out QWERTY, and the X1 had the market dominance esp with its good looks and superior hardware. times changed though, and right now the MS2 is lagging behind its main competitor.
what i hear is the MS2's main competitor, the Desire Z is getting a 2.3 update within this quarter of the year. makes me kinda regret getting this. so what if the desire Z has a slower processor, at least they r updating its software diligently. hats off to HTC for that. Thing is upgrading to 2.3 is one thing, the least they can do is fix the known bugs.

QFT! I do not understand why the bug fixes have not been pushed out. The mods on the support forum have mentioned having newer firmware than retail, so I assume they have made some fixes, and there is this newer Italian firmware that has fixes too.

Desire Z's processor is slower than Milestone 2, but Motorola just OVERCLOCKED OMAP3630, its design frequency is 720MHz, Motorola sales it as 1Ghz in MS2, and, motorola Droid 2 Global's CPU runs on 1.2Ghz for retail when OMAP3640's design freq. is 1Ghz. Besides, Adreno205(41M Polys/s & 245M Pix/s) in Desire Z is more powerful than SGX530 (14M Polys/s & ?M Pix/s), means Desire Z has a greater graphic performance.
At least, HTC never locks BootLoader.
Forget it, maybe my next device is not a motorola one, but I'm enjoying MS2 now.

The OMAP3630 is designed for 1GHz. It's the OMAP 3620 that is designed for 720MHz.
The Adreno 205 is indeed more powerful according to benchmarks, but I think you should consider the detail that Motorolo's handsets use a higher resolution than most other devices (just by 54x480 pixels, but still).

I can't found any frequency data on TI official site. Anyone have ideas on this?

Linaro, a not-for-profit engineering organization that works with open-source software for the ARM processor architecture, has announced downloadable builds of v4.0 of the Android operating system on development boards from Samsung and ST-Ericsson.
The accelerated graphics support made available today is based on Mali-400 graphics processor integrated with a dual-core Cortex-A9 in the Exynos 4210 SoC on the Samsung Origen board and in the Nova A9500 SoC on the ST-Ericsson Snowball board.

The development teams behind the aosp ports of ics might find it helpful.
I'm quite confused, is this a test ROM or some sort? There is no feature/bug log which i'm sure I missed it somewhere. I can't find whether it's generic or for the Galaxy S2.
Just over a month ago, within a day of Google's release of the 4.0.1 ICS version of Android, Linaro showed videos of it running on the Texas Instruments (TI) PandaBoard and shortly after that on the Freescale i.MX53 Quick Start board, the Samsung Origen board and ST-Ericsson's Snowball board. The accelerated graphics support that has been made available today makes use of the ARM Mali-400 graphics processor used by two of these boards. This graphics processor is integrated with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor: on the Samsung Origen board in Samsung's Exynos 4210 SoC, and on the ST-Ericsson Snowball board in ST-Ericsson's NovaTM A9500 SoC. Users of these boards can view videos of these latest builds on Linaro's YouTube channel and download the accelerated builds for the Snowball and Origen boards on Linaro's releases.linaro.org website.

It's not a ROM for the phone but rather for a development board. Phones are built based on those boards.

but its adreno 2xx and the wildfire fits in that catagory
The Wildfire has no GPU, ergo drivers for a GPU won't really help.
we can still dream
Sorry to say it owner but nejc is right, the drivers released are for a gpu, we wont get anything from this. The only thing we can dream of is software acceleration which will come from cm team most likely.......... eventually, when they've got it running smoothly for everyone else, we have a crappy phone now compared to most so we are at the bottom of a pile.

As of this writing there is no definite HTC model yet. as usual HTC may rename the device during the launch. It could be HTC Zenith or HTC Edge whatever. It would definitely come with Quad-Core processor, Snapdragon by QualComm or the quad-core Tegra 3 by Nvidia. OMG! a 4.7" screen playing 4 video files simultaneously with 1.5 GHz speed in each.
Chipsets and gadgets companies are selling high-end products with just a very little functionality offered at the moment.
MS is definitely releasing own windows phone 8 hardware. I have confirmation from my source, that tells me it will be coming out in the fall, and it is similar size to iphone / Droid Inc.
Will be an offficial update for the HD2? Or nly through custom roms we wil run windows 8
I think that Nokia Belle 805 needs to be off the list, since Belle refers to a version of Symbian.

Have any of the ROM developers seen this as yet? Any examples?

Anyone tried that game Qualcomm released to show off the power Snapdragon 600 http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...w-off-the-power-of-snapdragon-600-processors/
I look forward to seeing if there are any benchmark improvements. I am not sure if speed is the main benefit or just new effects/technology.
Real racing seems good on my One, what would the benefit of OpenGL ES 3.0 on that?
I strongly suspect existing benchmarks will be unaffected, let's hope I'm wrong. I guess we can expect better effects "for free".

we have already discussed this in the related thread
and most conclusions came to be that upcoming drivers should improve GL results
in fact someone asked HTCdev over twitter and they responded they are working with qualcomm regarding GL performance
i see a very big chance you are wrong

That's good news. Hopefully the current drivers are just crappy. I figured they would have been around a while though, long enough to have been reasonably well optimised. Always happy to be wrong.

yes but HTC is still at 4.1.2
and the SGS4 with 4.2 is scoring a lot better on the same s600
so there a high chance they dont have the latest drivers

@htcdev Are you expected OpenGL performance to increase, with the latest Qualcomm drivers for Jelly Bean 4.2?
HTCdev @htcdev 21 Mar
@jomaKern we are working with Qualcomm regarding OpenGL
