Hello to everyone. My question is this: my x8 does not want to overclock more than 729mhz, I do not know what to do, that just did not try to break up, nothing helps. Tell me how to make a better overclock?
no, there is no point in trying to overclock if your phone isnt stable at the specific frequency, then you can overclock further

I was wondering if it was at all possible to overclock the CPU of the MyTouch 3g without getting root. This would be great because I don't know what I'm doing in terms of root. And, I assume increasing clock speed will reduce lag in SNESoid.
you need root to overclock, id just close as many programs as possible before running an emulator.
How do you overclock the MyTouch or Magic 32B?
I know they make an app in the market for overclocking. (SetCpu) Or something like that. It was to my understanding that 528mhz wasn't overclocked for the Magic 32B? Is it possible to overclock from the SDK on my computer. Just used this to partition my SD card. (Swap=128,Ext3 to Ext4) Used sdparted and it was pretty simple. Is there a simple way to overclock the mytouch? UTIL? What is the clock speed of the mytouch now and what is a stable clock speed to overclock to?
if you can pull your user.conf file via adb you can overclock like that.

Is there a link that has a step-by-step for updating the user.conf file to do this? I'll try search around for one in the meantime, but I think it would really add to this thread to have a guide for Noobs like myself. Thanks for your time and reply.
Ok so this is a way I figured out how to do it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581328
This is an app that can edit the user.conf file.
I'd still kind of like to know how to do this from the SDK if anyone knows?
is there a reason you dont want to root your phone? its really easy. I can try to help u tho.

I'm already rooted. Sorry I didn't clarify. I'm running Cyanogen's ROM on my phone right now. I've tried to run several Hero ROM's in the past but, they seem too laggy. I thought this may be that I'm not running optimal settings on my phone for Hero. I'd just like to see what my phone does at it's peak to see if it would run Hero smoothy. In the end though I just think it would be neat to see just how far I could push my phone.
ok so u have root, and u wanna OC ur Mytouch 3G? right? so u already know about the overclock widget in the appstore. it allows you to overclock ur phone. 528mhz is the speed of the processor but it doesnt always run at that clock speed, only when it needs too when doing something intensive. so you want to go beyond that? i dont recommend it, but if u want, there is a way. if you download that app, overclock widget, and open it, you can set your own frequencies and see how far ur phone will go. i wouldnt get to crazy with it tho, u can do some real damage. does this make sense? if not, PM me and ill help u out further. good luck!

No this is what I needed to know. I thought the processor for the MT3G might be a little better than the one for the G1 and be able to run faster than 528mhz stable. I really don't want to ruin my phone it's the best phone I've ever had. I've used overclock widget and SetCpu in the past. I didn't know if there was a way to do this from the SDK? I guess it's easier to download an app than to run the SDK on my computer, but I thought it might be possible.
Hi all, I'm new to the overclocking thing and am wondering if anyone can help me with some settings. I'm using setcpu from the market, but don't want to fry my phone. The default settings are set all the way up as max and all the way down as min. Just wondering if this is a bad idea and if I should change any of the profile settings. oh ya, should I leave the governor setting to ondemand, userspace, or performance. Sorry if this is a lame question, just don't want to break my freshly unlocked baby. thanks.
You should truly avoid any overclocking on a personal level. At best, you could look into the OC kernel offered by Persian.
Honestly, the phones just haven't been tested for any real reliability... Thus no one has any true understanding as to the potential damages yet.
In other words... Feel free to try an OC kernel, but you really won't find anyone that will tell you exact settings, due to no one having a sure answer. Not to mention, OC'ing is always taking a step to the risky side of the fence.
Just my $.02
i've been wondering .. How bad is it ??
Will it ever kill my phone .. ? or cause anythin bad to it ?
like instability ?
if not ..
and it's completely safe ..
please .. Tell me how 2 overclock it
Cheers ..
Try by yourself.
No risk - no fun

Look, I don't want to discourage you but...months ago I had a problem with a volume rocker. It wasn't functioning. I sent my X8 for repair and they replaced it's motherboard. I think the cause might have been the overclocked CPU so now I'm not using OC anymore.
Be careful.

Which frequency were you using? I OCed my phone to 691MHz and it works fine.
Probably 710MHz. I was a noob back then

Maybe the connection between the motherboard and volume rocker is not functioning.
BTW,If you don't want to kills your phone, just don't overclock.
No dude .. i don't wanna kill it For sure ..
i use overclock with froyobread rom at 748 Mhz, and it's very smooth. sometimes my phone overheats just a little bit, but if you worry about it you can try a lower frequency. you can install the module with rootexplorer, or maybe file expert, but just if your phone is rooted. i think you should try it out
mine is running @748MhzMax, 480Minimum : Very fast and stable!
Can you tell me how to overclock it? I downloaded SetCPU, but max was 600MHz. I read that i need custom kernel or what?

you just need to get in touch with the topic first.
2. you need a kernel that unlocks higher cpu speeds(default is around 1ghz)
3.you need a app like set cpu (market costs something) or free apps like cpu master or setxperia also from market.
But i want to say you that oc is not needed it makes run games faster but you wont get aways from a laggy phone. Most important is the Rom. Then kernel featuers and at least the cpu speed in my opinion
Hello everyone, I wanted to know what are the real risks of overclocking on our tablet,
what could happen? what might happen is in relation with the temperature? if it is, the temperature at which you should start to worry? please seek an experienced user to correct information, I would like to bring my TF300 to overclock higher, like TF700 around 1.7 GHz in performance mode. Please stop me if I'm doing a stupid time thx
hi,
there isn't a real risk, on most devices you wil need a custom kernel that support's a higher clock freq, but when you overclock to high your divice wil just crash and reboot, then the clock freq's are normaly set to stock, so i dont think there is a real risk about it.
but i wouldn't go higher then 1.6 with TF300T...
None of the oc kernels are dangerous

can u give me a download of a flashable by recovery stable OC kernel?
