you just need to get in touch with the topic first.
2. you need a kernel that unlocks higher cpu speeds(default is around 1ghz)
3.you need a app like set cpu (market costs something) or free apps like cpu master or setxperia also from market.
But i want to say you that oc is not needed it makes run games faster but you wont get aways from a laggy phone. Most important is the Rom. Then kernel featuers and at least the cpu speed in my opinion

Wildfire Overclock - Safe?

Hi, my fellow droids!
I recently rooted my Wildfire (unrevoked) and put WildPuzzleROM 8.0.10 on it. It's currently having it's first boot after flashing, so it's taking its time.
In the original thread I saw some setting for overclocking as downloads. The highest one is for 768mhz.
Is it safe to take that setting or the others above the original clock and have it run all the time? Or will the phone get too hot and damaged?
Yours truly
an ex-pola-user
It's safe!
It's safe but I recommend to stay under 700 (at least at first) for stability
Does behavior of device is like HTC Legend if you know what I mean? Does it play 3d games smoot like Legend?
Hi,
I really want to overclock my wildfire but is it really safe? im scared of getting my phone's battery explode... I really want to get this phone fast so i can play Angry Birds a little smoothly

No, the wildfire has no dedicated graphics chip like the legend has so it will never be as good in games. The wildfire is not meant for gaming...

It's the CPU not the battery that you're overclocking.
But do take your time and browse(search) around the forum looking for reports of exploding phones...
Hi,
I installed Wildpuzzle a few days ago and i want to overclock, but i don't figure out how.
Can someone explain me step by step? I really don't figure out how...sorry for my english
Thank you!

Same way as Wild Puzzle. When booted into recovery, and choosing a zip from sd to install, choose (055 i think) the oc kernel v7, it will flash, the reboot, viola, OC!! A program along the likes of SetCPU will help control frequencies.
I agree with a previous poster (Jacob i think) keep it under 700 and you will be fine.

New WF user, couple of questions, discussion mainly about overclocking

Hi guys, i have an x10 but i recently got a new wildfire for my girlfriend.
I rooted it, installed wildpuzzle 2.2.1 rom and overclocked it to 691mhz which i reduced to 650mhz just to see if everything will be ok for a while.
Currently she's using htc sense, she says she likes it so i think i won't change it to launcher pro but i couldn't find the option to reduce the number of screen? From current 7, she only uses 3. How do i do that? and btw. did anyone try motonav gps? i'm using it on x10 but the resolution on WF seems waaay off when i run it. Any fix for that?
Also, the reason why i overclocked it is to be able to run angry birds better cuz she likes the game a lot. I have an overclocked computer for years and i know the affects on it over time but can the same principle apply on mobile phones? I'm not that familiar with those and i'm not really sure how the hardware reacts to higher cpu frequencies.
I have read in a couple of threads people saying that overclocking will "reduce our wildfire's life span."
I find that incorrect. Since the voltage of the chip remained the same there's nothing else that would indicate reduced life span other than temperature. And if the temperature reading from SetCPU is somewhat correct than in most cases i find it to be under 30c which i find completely acceptable.
Higher but stable frequency in itself cannot harm the cpu in any way, as far as my knowledge goes. Your thoughts?
Also since we are offered to choose between different but fixed frequencies i'm guessing overclocking/underclocking works on a multiplier principle. Meaning that only the multiplier is being changed for overclocking the cpu which would indicate that no additional strain on the motherboard is present. How do you think the memory reacts? is it also overclocked or does it have a fixed ratio?
O/Cing on the Qualcomm MSM 7225 on the Wildfire is mainly done by adjusting the CPU PLL only. There was a very detailed post I read about the very detailed process of overclocking this CPU here on XDA itself, cant seem to find it out now. Just look for it, if I find it again, I'll let you know.
Also, maybe OC'ing will reduce the lifespan, but, I am pretty sure before it dies out by oc'ing, we will have retired it anyway
thanks for your reply, i'll try to find that post then, it would be an interesting read for sure
any comments on sense screens or motonav?
Found it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656572
As for the number of Sense Screens, I do not think that it is possible to adjust it without using a 3rd party launcher as LP / ADW. As for motonav, it must be optimized for HDPI / MDPI resolution devices, which is why it must not display properly on the Wildfire, really, no idea here as well, Sorry.
that's ok, thanks for your input
i've read through the thread, things have changed since then but it does give an accurate representation of some things, interesting to see how people think
As for the MOtonav, it`s not available for the Wildfire, but there is a modified version of Igo that works on Qvga, PM me if interested.
nDrive
Hi Astral07,
I've used nDrive (http://www.appbrain.com/app/ndrive/com.ndrive.android) which works really well on our QVGA screen.
I haven't used it much so I can't vouch for the quality of the app but I can definitely confirm that in terms of the Wildfire screen it is 100% compatible
sounds good, i'll give it a try
@Alex_GP i've sent you a PM, cheers

You can't resize widgets with the free version.
hm, maybe i didn't explain correctly, the option is: Auto-fit items under homescreen settings
so you're saying launcher pro free is no good for wildfire and i have to buy a full version so that i can resize and make it work=?

[Q] How to overclock my HTC HD2 with Android ?

Hi !
It's my first thread, i hope you can find the solutions to solve my problem.
In first time, i'm sorry to my bad english. So, my problem is:
I have a HTC HD2 and i know to install Android on that. My new challenge is to overclock my device, with SetCPU or other. I have already followed some tutorials to do a few profiles... I did it, the maximum value i selected is 998 MHZ. It's Ok i think, i cross "Set on boot" and "enbale" so when i use Quadrant Standard Edition, i check 1024 Mhz. But when i see the device of XDA's devs i can see like rafpigna's nand 3024 MHZ ! Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908528
My questions are:
1. How can i do it ?
2. Can i accelerate my N64's roms (with N64oid) if i succeed to solve this problem ?
Thx for all.

This is totally dependent on the Kernel supporting overclock.
This question cannot be answered completely due to the fact there are several Android ROMs with different configurations and preset Set-CPU profiles.
Also it appears you've mistaken the Quadrant score to be the frequency of the CPU? The CPU was not 3024MHz, that is the Quadrant score. The CPU was 1.5Ghz.
I believe 998MHz is the standard highest processor speed of the HD2, unless you have a Kernel which supports overclocking you can do whatever you want in Set-CPU and it won't change a thing.
I'm afraid I cannot answer your question regarding the emulator but I believe it would not have a massive effect, maybe fix some lag if you have any.
Thanks you very much. So if i install the Rapigna's buil i can have this quadrant's score ? Really ? Because it's HIS Kernel which he can does this ?
Isnt it also the case the overclocking will only work when the phone is running with the charger plugged in?
I have not seen any overclocking working on battery (although i imagine it would kill the battery!).

No.
There are a multitude of threads from users moaning about overclocking depleting the battery far quicker than the standard clock settings. That on its own is enough to conclude the phone doesn't have to be plugged in to allow the overclock to work.

You may receive comparable results although Quadrant scores have been criticised because of what they are based upon. You may receive lower scores. Running your phone in an overclocked state is an effective way of shortening the life of your phone, if you want to play games so much I would suggest maybe a PSP or Nintendo DS?
Overclocking depends on the kernel that is used. Kernel like tytung's kernels supports max speeds of up to 1190mhz. Rapigna's kernel supports up to 1.5ghz.
Based on this, if you use these kernels, use it alongside setcpu to control your overclocking.
However, I strongly advise against overclocking + charging at the same time unless if you are in an air conditioned room. There has been some speculation that overheating might be related to the recent outburst of touchscreens failing "mysteriously". Another technique to avoid this is to use a battery temp profile in SET CPU to give you a warning when your battery has reached dangerous levels.
Thanks for all !
1190mhz is the best and safest over clock speed

[Q] How-To Overclock GT540 to 900Mhz?

Hi Guys!
I searched the forum and Google but I found nothing about the question, and what I found was very vague.
I would like to know how to overclock to 900Mhz on my GT540, I think I should increase the voltage to run the overclock, but could not find anything about this either. The maximum that can be stable is 806MHz.
They said it's only a few GT540 thats run on 900Mhz.
This information is correct?
Thanks for the reply! And sorry for my bad English.
Theres no need to overclock to 900, its will more than likly drain your battery in 6 hours. And not even make a difference to the performance.

Humm, but I am curious on Quadrant results... and maybe 100 will make difference in some games?
I Play much games on my Phone LOL.
And thanks for your fast response!
What games?
I installed SwiftDroid v2.0 M5 and OC to 806 MHz. Angry Birds (+ Seasons & Rio) doesn't lag any more . What do you want more ?
It's about how much you can overclock the our phone depends on which part of the silicon has been made the processor and depends on kernel. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do.
Sorry for my bad English

I can overclock my phone at 900mhz but it's not very stable.
I had mine at 850MHz for a while. 800MHz is a lot more stable.
My phone will boot at 900MHz, but it's not very stable. Without cooling, and voltage control, you can't overclock a phone too far without losing stability.
i tweaked mine to 1ghz
but it only lasts about 30 seconds then it crashes out and reboots
i can get 864mhz to run stable without trying
i am gonna upload a tut for the 1ghz thing and i want to know how did they get
864mhz stable

But 1Ghz is Danger, becuz our processor its make to 900Mhz. I think so.
MSM7227 is officially specified UP TO 600MHz
see link -> h**p://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7227&c=qualcomm_msm7227
800MHz+ is already very good (+33% OC), got mine stable @ 880MHz (+46% OC)
How you get that stable?
sent from my gt540 mur4ik RC0 806mhz
Mine crashes when overclocked above 748MHz. But I don't mind.
Sorry I forgot: I use Mur4iks M4
There's no secret involved in this. All CPUs are manufactured to meet a guaranteed clock speed. That is the speed they have to meet in order to pass QC. Some CPUs will be able to run a little faster and some will be able to run a lot faster but all will be set at the default speed. The variance is just a factor of the manufacturing process. If you're lucky you get one that can do 900, if not, well you can't complain unless it won't do 600...

Hi guys. I'm planing to overclock and I want to know what do I put for min CPU frequency and max CPU frequency?
I'm running 2.3.7 swiftdroid 2.0
Thanks in advance
make sure the settings are not set on boot, min 122 then for max slowly increase from 600 then so on.. if the phone hangs take out the battery. this way you will know the maximum the cpu can go

How To Get Play as fast as possible

i have an xperia play 16GB sd card running dixperia2 doomkernel v14 launcherpro with ram manager pro at 1.6GHz can anyone tell me the best combination they have had
Best + Stable
Xperia Play 16gb Class 10 SD Card Xperia NXT 1.2 Supercharged 1.4 Ghz Smartass V2 LuPuS GB v5
32Gb class10 sd card with DiXperia2 + removed some systemapps that i dont need (torch,calculator....)+ sick speed tweak+ auto memory manager
+lupus v.5(smartass v2 sio 1500mHz for daily use and for gaming 1700mHz performance sio) = my PLAY is a beast and really no game is laging, i get about 250mb of free ram for gaming.
Sick speed tweak?? Mind sharing??

I would really like to know what it is.
Well...im not a expert but i also have tried dixperia 2.
But now im with Nxt Light edition 1.3
I only use advanced task killer before playing something hard like FPSE with opengl.
i have 250mb free ram.
Stable overclocked with 1.8ghz but sometimes there will be some crashes like when speeding or lowering clocks, or sometimes FPSE will crash after overclock and you will have just to open it again without issues.
I have a low class SDCard so i havent tried any Swapper.
I dont use ram manager or anything of those silly things but i readed NXT light edition comes with v6 supercharger.
I did some benchmarks ago with 1.7ghz i had better 3D Score but with 1.8ghz i had better CPU score.
Just extract and place in init.d

Hard to go wrong with init.d files. You can set them to 777, which means ALL access is allowed. Though, technically they should be 755, which is read write exec for owner, read exec for group and read exec for global (or others)
The best way to have a blazing fast xplay is to have debloated stock rom + swapper + ram manager pro + 1.4ghz smartassv2/sio + advanced task killer :good:
I got tired of custom roms and all that stuff, i just installed stock rom and deleted all type of bloatware apps and added a couple of things to make it nicer like walkman player, bravia engine, notification toggles, new boot animation, new xperia launcher and camera app from NXT.
I so love it:laugh:

The thread didn't say, so maybe you might know. Custom ROM/kernel only I assume? I'm on stock, so I don't want to flash this without knowing for sure. Or is one of the two files in the zip possible to use on stock?
Stock does not support init.d. So if u want'em tweak either enable init.d urself or flash any custom rom or kernel that supports init.d script.
