Asus will fix random reboot with birds?

Huhu fun !

Not specifically for random reboots but http://www.facebook.com/asus.uk/posts/10150599709922677

Ok, OK...my error...I was doing something else.

lol

Thanks !
At least a light at the end of the tunnel. Can't wait for the update, since I haven't turned of my TF101 the last 36h and keep it on the charger.
Before I was not able to boot it, I had to wait till the battery was completely empty, then recharged it and boot it, what a horrible experience.

Haha, no problems. I figured you probably just pasted a wrong link. Happened all the times.

Reboot
I havent experienced alot of random reboots. I have had 1 or 2 but it happend alot more frequently on 3.2.

I guess i am one of the few lucky ones that has never experienced a random reboot since the update. Makes me wonder if i'll be applying the new update when it rolls out.

Good job it was that kind of bird! Lol

Weirdly enough I had replied to posts on here before saying I had no issues. Then over the last few days I've been getting the random reboots during sleep. I'm glad to hear that Asus is aware and are doing something about it.
Most have and will complain that Asus is horrible and blah blah blah. But I believe they are really great. Not too many companies out there even supporting their old products with OS updates. And on top of just giving us ICS upgrade they're also spending time to fix the issues.
That's a great company if you ask me.

I think the TF101 is not old enough to be called "old product". lol
I agree. Asus have better product support than other companies.

lol when its porn its weirder

Asus is an excellent company. Just the fact that they even ported ICS to the original Transformer when they have new Transformer models out is something that a lot of other companies would not do! I can't even count the number of devices I've owned that have NEVER received a single firmware update! Asus is very supportive of their products.
I think it's safe to say that the Transformer is my favorite computing device of all time - hands down. And it's STILL getting better and better!!

On the tail end of the feedback, I see that someone was able to get around the rebooting by turning the GPS off - has anyone tried this until we get the fix
p.s Despite the random reboots, and stuck at the start screen problems since ICS, I am still very happy with my TF101

Considering ASUS almost ALWAYS abandons hardware when it is replaced by a new one I am shocked to see them continue to support the Transformer.
I don't plan on using any forthcoming update as I have yet to have a single reboot that I have not specifically initiated.

It dramatically reduced reboots. From 3 a day to one a week. But its still possible.
I turn off my tablet when ever I'm not using it now. Seems to help as well.

So once again not a solution for every one. I think just Asus has the right fix

Just ordered a transformer but .........

Love mine! It actually is BETTER than I thought it would be!
you have a return window...
try it out and be your own judge.
what you gonna do? wait for the package and not open it?
Tip of the day... Think for yourself.
The majority of people bashing the TF bash their cell phones, their tvs, their computers and just about every other expensive piece of hardware they invest in because it doesn't wipe their ass and make their morning coffee.
I love mine more than anything else i own, other than my Camaro of course lol. I just found an app called sixaxis controller that lets me use a ps3 controller to play games and even navigate the launcher via bluetooth!
I just got mine and am happy with it.
I "bash" mine because it does have problems, but other than those I love the device. The only real problem that mattered to me was when it decided it didn't want to charge anymore.
All devices have problems. My ipad2 had screen bleed and restricted. The transformer has some screen bleed but is awesome. Be sure to pick up a tablet keyboard like thumb keyboard or swiftkeyX. Really man typing a breeze while holding the tablet.

It's a great device and very capable. If you don't get the QC issues the device is great and I think you'll enjoy it.
For most of the QC issues you'll know right from the beginning. For some like dying speakers nobody can really tell when that will occur. You probably shouldn't consider creaking a defect either, keep that in mind.
The majority of the people here that bash the device probably do so due the QC, not the actual device itself. It's very capable and well designed, it's just the execution was somewhat poor and the QC suffered as a result.
So you should just try it out like another poster said. You might find it so good that you don't want to return it.
Yeh i think that is probaly best, has.there been many qc issues?

Wow!!! You just nailed!!!!
The new generation are people like a crying whining baby with no patience. They just want everything to work instantly, perfectly and bugs fixed immediately.
Is the transformer perfect? Nope, but I can live with it and enjoy what I have instead of complaining about it everyday.
lightbleed? is there, not affecting my use whatsoever.
batter drain? fixed already. I don't have battery issue anymore. Lost about 2% overnight.
keyboard browser lag? Annoying, but I am patiently waiting for a fix. it's useable, but ya, people can't wait a second these days. They will be so angry and wanna throw the tablet against the wall or keep posting Epic fail in every asus update thread.
netflix? don't care at all. i can root it if I really want it.
flash video lag? fixed already.
Lack of apps? I beleive it will get better. There werent many apps when i had my iphone1.
Circle mouse? I actually like it more than the arrow cursor. People made it such a big deal.
Did I miss anything that people were bashing? Seriously, just try to enjoy it and have a little patience.

For those who considering XOOM better build? Think again....
Google Lots of XOOM got creaks/cracks of the back, loose in buttons and back plastic side, loose of corners, bad view angles etc....
We see all bad things about Transformers since we are looking for it...But XOOM got all same **** guys...
Loving my transformer. An awesome platform for tinkering too. I have mine dual booting ubuntu/android via lilstevie's work.
It seems to human nature to dwell on the bad things!
I have had my Transformer & dock for about a week now and don't know what all the fuss has been about it is the best thing i have bought for a while. Just the whole thing with the tab & dock when you want it or to top up battery is a win win!
If you have a Costco membership, you can buy it online, use it for up to 90 days and return it to a local store (if you have issues)
I don't condone returning something if its not broke or just cause something better came out!

I HATE my Transformer now!!!!

Every morning I wake up and the battery is dead or almost dead on the dock and tab; random reboot lock every day or twice a day; it needs to be charged EVERY night even though dock and tab are both at 100%; its realy sad cuz I thoguht this thing was the awesomest ever now I have no faith in it and I hate it. It seriously makes me want to jump ship if this what our "awesome updates" are going to be like. A month of misery and non working $700 devices is BULL****.

Have you even bothered to take a look at the battery meter to see which apps or functions are eating your battery? That's what its there for afterall. It could be as simple as a rogue app running in the background sucking up resources.
What does your serial number on your dock start with? Do you have the "mobile dock" conserving feature enabled in the settings and does it actually work?

Two things, turning the power off will stop the battery drain. Otherwise, make sure all non-essential apps are stopped because they all consume battery power to run. It's like leaving your car overnight with lights and radio on.
I keep my tab and dock separate as much as possible. The battery drain is extreme when they are connected.

Did you install the ICS update? Cause that's a known issue, see the Random Reboot Investigation thread. If you can, try to go back to HC.
BTW was the ICS update a forced update (I'm not on stock)? If it was then I can understand the frustration of the original poster. It's one of the reasons I didn't install ICS yet (I'm still on Krakd which I'm pretty happy with).

Certain part of the world have to pay a little more to play.
Sorry to hear about ur problems with the Transformer. I love mine so far. I've had it since Christmas, rooted it, installed Revolver then Krakd. Worked like a charm with excellent battery life. Then ICS came out, so I flashed that. It's better than ever now.
No lie... I took mine off the charger (No Dock) on Monday... It's almost the end of my work day and I still had 60% battery. I only plugged it back in because I wanted to get back to full battery in order to work on it this evening.
So... flashing ICS.. Battery life is great...
This was all actually due to the ICS update. This was the update that was sent from Asus, it was not a forced update. I did a factory reset on it as well once the ICS update was on it. I know that Asus is sending out a fix for the issue but its just SO annoying!! Plus, I dont feel like spending the time to revert to HC then update again. Oh well...

Although i share your frustration, but u are not the only one experiencing these issues. The tablet is just fine, it is the buggy ICS update that asus is currently woking to fix it. Your OP was borderline trolling I agree with the above post, u can always restore a nandroid backup of a HC rom and kernel unless u didn't CYA. So take a chill pill and wait like the rest of us for the bug fix update.
Although I can understand the OP's frustration, seems pretty dumb to just hate a product so easily. Obviously there's something wrong with with the dock or the tablet. Or you could have a rogue app that is sucking down battery.

Might be some of the apps that you installed that is draining the battery. Try to remove them one by one and see if you have the drain. If its still there buy an iPad.

I think that for you will be better:
1 - Call assistance warranty or not
2 - sell your TF and buy another product (apple?)
3 - go on vacation instead to poison your soul writing here flamming threads because here there is not solution to your problem, they seams to be hardware related.
Stay calm...
Good luck

Can someone make a video to demonstrate...

Can someone please make a video to demonstrate the random reboot and boot loop problem happening on a completely stock, factory resetted Transformer with no 3rd party apps?
Not saying you guys have to prove anything but if we have this kind of video and post it everywhere, it will garner much more attention and maybe Asus will do something quicker.
Just the fact that you are posting this tells me that NOBODY will be able to create a video that you would accept as "proof". Besides, how are we supposed to videotape a "random" reboot that may take up to 24 hours (or more) to show up (and again, at RANDOM). The video would have multiple cuts and would be impossible to authenticate.
I think we know what a reboot or a bootloop look like... And we've sent lots of logs to Asus as real "proof".
Trust me, Asus knows there is REALLY a problem. We don't need to spend countless hours trying to capture a random reboot on tape.
Give me a break.
And before anyone calls me an anti-asus troll, please don't get me wrong - I love their products and nobody else makes a comparable tablet/dock combo! They release very frequent firmware updates which I also love! However, their response to this particular issue has been less than stellar.
Sure, Ill record a ~78h long video (roughly the frequency of my random reboots so far).
Just buy me a bigass HDD and Ill email the recording to you. Then I want to you watch every second of it in one go, no fast-forwarding or skipping.
... seriously though, a clip of a random reboot doesnt help the developers ONE BIT.
"right, so the device restarted... lets fix it! *searches code for entry "random restart"* oh look at that, no hits..."
There is a reason software uses logfiles. If you'd ever looked at one you'd know they provide a million times more information than a video clip will ever do.
Theres a saying, "a picture says more than a thousand words". But in coding its the exact opposite, a picture is more or less useless.
ASUS knows about this issue. But fixing something thats completely RANDOM and doesnt even happen on ALL devices makes it a ***** to pin-point in the code.
If you want to help asus - send them your logcats. Not a 78h long, useless, video.
Actually, Asus has one (mine) at their repair facility. My Transformer died (endless reboot to the eeepad screen) which nothing would stop, not connecting to ac, not holding the power button, not holding power and volume down. It was rma'd and returned with a factory restored image of ics, nothing on it that didn't come from Asus. I turned it off, and it would not turn back on. This is a completely stock tablet, never rooted, no 3rd party apps, heck I never even entered my Goggle Account. And it was working fine before ICS. They've had it since March 11 and have asked me to describe what happened a couple of times. I told them to fix it, turn it off for an hour or 2, and try to restart it. So, a totally stock tablet, fresh ICS from Asus, no 3rd party apps, and it won't work. If I ever get it back I'll let you know what they claim they did.

Hm what makes you think you would have to record the entire duration.
It can be cut. You can start recording when it's boot looping. Just show your app drawer or list of apps in your settings afterwards.
Hah I can't believe some people in this thread thought you would have to show the whole duration. It can be cut. It can be fast forwarded.
Just needs to show the boot loop or random reboot happening AND show the list of apps afterwards, not before.
I remember seeing a similar video for Prime. Kinda surprises me that nobody posted a video yet and it's been over a month since we got ICS and all the issues.

In case you haven't read your own thread, you are the only one who thinks this is a good idea.
Look, as I remember, you said that you reboot your device at least once a day, so how do you even know if you have the problem or not?
My problem is this - you come on here acting like everyone that has the problem, has the problem because they did something wrong. Since you don't believe you have the problem, you assume that everyone who does have the problem is doing something wrong and that full wipe will fix it when some of us have already done that many time to no avail.
Instead of leaving us be to resolve our issues, you ask folks to waste time making videos to prove it to you!
Why are YOU being so defensive? You are the one asking for proof - not me!!
I keep telling myself I'll ignore you, but your reasons are so lame, that I can't help myself!!!

Nope. I've even said that factory reset doesn't work for everyone. I came to that conclusion long time ago. People are experiencing the problems in different ways. Factory reset is just one of the solutions that have been proven to work for some people. Wakelock is another solution but that also doesn't work for everyone. So what's wrong with suggesting what have been proven to work for the large majority of people who fixed their issues? Sounds like it's the logical step in troubleshooting. People can't know whether it will help them or not before actually trying it.
I suggest it depending on what the person has said in his post. If he said he had tons of apps and did OTA update without wiping, I suggest it because I genuinely believe it will at least alleviate the problems. Pretty sure any reasonable person would think the same.
I do have a hard time believing ridiculous claims though, such as the one by Knoxploration, who says both his and his wife's TFs have random reboots and boot loops even after factory reset, running on stock with no apps. What an amazing coincidence that they both have the most extreme version of the problem.
I think there is already enough attention on the issue from Asus.
There is even a thread created by Asus employee to sort this issue. Its sticky on this very forum.

Luckily I dont have the issue, so I haven't been following the thread.
You can try the new kernel for the tf101 3g (version 9.2.2.3), is said to adress the issue. You can flash guevor kernel test 7 on non-3g TFs.
Just accept the fact that we are quite many who has an RR/SoD'ing TF101 and then accept the fact that we are quite upset with Asus?

... But the RR/SOD is quite annoying nevertheless.
Video of reboot to freeze
Here is a video of a reboot to a freeze I cobbled together, on an B70 with ICS (4.0.3) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LZ5Q-kUSq4&feature=youtu.be
[replaced original video(s) with a more stable video of reboot to freeze].
About the RR and SOD problems, a lot of people solved their issues using the lastest kernel from Asus (9.2.2.3). It was actually release for TF101G.
Its not official yet on TF101, but there is a build from guevor here (test8) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519
Reportedly is working very good.
They see me trollin'.
Better than a video, would be to show the logs. And there are logcats of the reboot event, there are a team of devs that had those logs.

I agree this tablet is amazing
Be advised you will also have to unlock which voids warranty in order to get CWR and install ROMS ect....
Personally I waited till my 27th day to unlock.
Glad I did! Currently running Seanscream's Hydro and really liking it!
Have fun :victory:
congrats! hope you enjoy, i definitely do =)
i cwm and rooted it, cant wait till 27th, awesome!!
it will be awesome if it gets jelly bean in august
Why did you wait until the 27th day?
I got this tablet a few days ago, I think I will root it ASAP. I like the tablet a lot, but cannot stand the MTP mode. Hopefully rooting will get around that. Any one know if I am stuck with MTP?
i unlocked it after 10 Minutes
Why wait til the 27th to get JB.

I just wanted to get a feel for it first and make sure there were no defects or blemishes that would require a return OR warranty claim before chancing that by unlocking, I would be voiding the warranty as ASUS states.
BestBuy has the 30day return policy so I got brave and did the "Unlock" just a few days prior to that running out figuring if something went wrong, I would possibly still have a couple days to return it to them. (I know this wouldn't have been politically correct - just my thoughts...)

still better to run it and check, sometimes you can repair dead pixels as the app runs a variety of colours to force the dead pixel to become alive
Absolutely love mine. I'm glad i returned my TF100 last fall and waited it out. I knew it would be a while before the next affordable transformer came out and MAN it was worth the wait. This thing is just amazing. Haven't rooted yet...dont know why..guess its all the horror stories/issues on the forums holding me back

after the nexus 7

I ebayed my Fire and got the n7 at launch. Well now after a few weeks I'm ready to eBay and upgrade again. The n7 is not doing it for me. The response time make the device unusable. Typing is painful.
What does everyone plan on getting next cause I'm ready now.
Nothing, I don't have your problems.

You're either crazy or have a defective unit. As with all Nexus devices, the response time and software is great on the N7.

Ditto.... for me.
What I find amusing is that you have made 6 posts about the Nexus 7, the first being July 20th.
A couple about trying to use VPN with pptpd, 3 about keyboards, and 1 about how to spend your free $25 Google Play dollars you got when you purchased the Nexus 7.
NONE about slowness or anything related to your OP here.
In March you had this gem to say...
Anyone else hesitant to order after rumors of Google $150/$200 Tablet?

after seeing the non existent support for the problems with the original nexus 'Google phone", I would not buy any hardware product from them.

Response time? Are you serious? Are we talking about the Nexus 7? By the way anything you get that isn't a nexus 7 is a downgrade, Best tablet ever. I'm going to be with this for a very long time.

Well I'd really rather keep it. Even typing this I'm having to hit keys multiple times. Very annoying.
No one else having these issues at all?
Perhaps I have a dud? Anyone know how difficult it is to get a replacement from Google?
No issues here, using swiftkey.

I most likely will stay with the N7, but *IF* I were to trade this in, I would most likely get the Galaxy Note tablet soon to be released. For me, having a fine-tip pressure sensitive stylus would be awesome. However, after having so many tablets, I think the 7" form factor is the perfect size. Now if Samsung comes out with a Note 7...I would be hard pressed to stay with the N7.

Right I thought I was having keyboard problems which is why I tried 3-4 different ones and hated a few. (krelvinaz knows what I'm taking about since he keeps tabs on my posts). Now I believe I wasn't actually having problems with swiftkey 3 or swype but that I'm getting flakey touch responses. Currently have Thumbs installed and still have to hit the letters a couple of times for them to register. Just went back to the stock keyboard and same thing is happening. I have to key really slow to make sure every letter touch activates.
Here's another odd thing, I just installed the app Multi Tough Visual Test so see if indead I was having problems with my touch screen and every click and gesture I do, even with multiple touches all register. I even tapped super fast and still I see everything showing up. So this leads me to believing the hardwares fine.
I do have it rooted, perhaps if I have time I'll do a backup and factory reset and/or try a custom ROM.
I'd simply warranty the thing out. Your problems are clearly not typical of the nexus 7 experience.
Well I did a factory reset and response times are better. I can actually type now. Using SwiftKey keyboard for a try.
Only installed keyboards and titanium backup. I'll slowly start adding back my apps.

+1. I'm having the same touchscreen issues with mine, going to call up Google for an exchange tomorrow.
I'm not having the lag issue when I type, but I get it pretty badly when scrolling around Chrome and various other apps. Early the lag was so bad that I turned it off for a few minutes, then when I booted it back up, there was a red outline surrounding the entire screen for about a minute, then went back to normal. I'm just going to return it tomorrow.
