Hello,
I have to write an essay about Galaxy tab security advantage versus iPad 2. Of course I'm looking on the Internet but I think that people of the forum can have more acknowledgement about that.
Could you share your opinions?
Thanks

"Honeycomb" OS on the Galaxy Tab supports on-device encryption, so it easily connected to corporate servers and should pass its Exchange ActiveSync policies.

Galaxy Tab needs the Quick Load function from the new Sony S1 tablet. Someone should develop a patch like that for the SGT 10.1.

That does look cool, but it sounds like it's doing what Opera's mobile browser already does - I'd be curious to see some performance tests of the two side by side.
Should easily be ported over to other tablets right?!
Yeah its even coming from Sony's version of Android. I'd be interested in seeing this...

So I was one of the people that watch the S4 Launch Presentation online from beginning to end. After having had my phone since it was released by AT&T, I've tried/utilized every feature available on it at least once.
However, there is one "feature" I cannot find that I remember hearing about during the presentation. It had to do with "Work". I can't remember exactly, but it had to do with the "separation" of "Work" and "Personal" Functions... I think it was related to email? I'm trying to watch the video again but does this ring a bell for anyone?

Android 4.2 introduces multi-user support. S4 does come with Android 4.2.2 and as such, they made it possible to separate the, say, work/personal accounts. The presentation was talking about a case where (in a corporate environment) the IT department would be able to setup your "Work" account as per their needs/requirements/restrictions while leaving the "Personal" user account untouched - actually not even having access to it.
Hope this answers your question.
That would be Samsung's Knox product, not multi-user from android. It has been delayed from release, but has been approved by DoD for use in government.

Knox is Samsung's own security implementation but the multi-user support (Work/Personal accounts) used by Knox is actually built/based on Android 4.2 multi-user feature. Knox cannot be implemented on earlier versions of Android exactly due to Android's lack of multi-user support.
The multi-user support is present in all Android 4.2 versions regardless of hardware as well as Cyanogenmod 10 and up - without actually having anything to do with Samsung's Knox.
Knox was built from the ground up as platform/application security and device management. The multi-user feature is similar to android's built in feature in name only. Knox reaches all the way down to the bootloader.
Knox comes out in the summer in a future update. It seems nice but my work place doesn't use work phones.

This could get interesting. I would assume a Knox enabled device would have a perma locked bootloader. If Samsung were to push an update including Knox, they could theoretically lock the phone down tight like Motorola did to the Atrix line, no?

Evernote Now Integrated Into the Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Evernote’s goal is to help people around the world remember everything on every device that they use. Over the years, it’s been inspiring to see the range of smart products that have come to the market that incorporate Evernote, from phones and tablets to cameras and refrigerators.
Today, we’re very excited to announce a new partnership with Samsung that will deeply integrate Evernote into the core note taking capabilities of the popular Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Now, all S Note users will get the benefit of immediate note synchronization from their Samsung mobile device to every other device and computer where Evernote is installed. Like all notes in Evernote, they’ll instantly become searchable, can be tagged for quick organization and shared with others.
In addition, Evernote will offer S Note users increased monthly capacity to accommodate all of their notes, images and files.
Over the past several years, Samsung has continually created new and unexpected products that enhance the lives of consumers. We’re excited to be working with such an innovative and forward-thinking company.

Do you think that we'll see Note 8.0 S-note integration in the near future ?
I would most certainly think so. Seems to me that Evernote will (sort of) replace (or enhance) functionalities of S-Note and I couldn't see why this shouldn't work on other S-Pen-devices.
Probably we might have to wait somewhat longer though.

It is possible if Sammy wants to...but I do not believe as a upgrade of existing devices pn 4.3 that we might get...
My thoughts is that only new devices will be offered with new features like evernote premium. ?.

I don't think it would be wise of Samsung to not include the feature for other S-Pen-devices. There are lots of people who use a note II (and soon note 3) as their phone AND the Note 8 or 10 as their tablet. Not being able to sync between those just wouldn't make sense.

Manual sync of my Note 2 and 10.1 has screwed up all my notes. Some are even locked and I can't figure out how to unlock these. Hopefully Sammy has fixed this cross sync issues.

:good: Agreed. I started using Dropsync after losing some notes on Samsung Sync. I tried Evernote Sync but it was flaky, as was Google Docs.
Dropsync works perfectly.

dropsync is one of the most essential apps i have ever used...i love it
I don't know about you guys but when I use dropSync it didn't work properly it constantly cause my snote to say syncing notes which took about a minute to finish
I was using it to sync my nose between my Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy note 10.1 but found it way too sluggish to work properly and use it as my daily driver for syncing notes between the two devices
this is why I really like the the evernote integration because not only will it sync between devices but I can sync it with my desktop as well
but curiously I haven't been able to find a single video or a tutorial on how this is supposed to work can somebody like one
I just bought the Note 3, and am a huge Evernote user so the new integration on the new version of S-Note has been awesome for me. The downside of having the Note 8.0 now is what is mentioned above. I used to use Dropsync to sync my S-Notes folders between my Note 2 and my Note 8.0. Now that the file types are different, .spd files rather than the older S-Note's .snb files, I can no longer do that. I even tried syncing S-Notes using my Samsung account hoping they would have some kind of conversion happen behind the scenes-no dice. I can view Notes created on my Note 3 (.spd) on my Note 8.0 via Evernote, or using this app I found on the Samsung App Store http://www.samsungapps.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.spdviewer , but I can no longer edit those new notes on my 8.0 due to the new file type. I'm really hoping Samsung hurries up with an update so I can have the new version of S-Note on my 8.0 and get back to my old syncing ways. If you want to know more about how Evernote is working with the Note 3, which will be the same on the new 10.1 2014 Edition, feel free to ask whatever questions you'd like. I've tested that a bunch now as well and have been happy with the results.

Hi Nate, I hope you are well and happy.
I currently use an original N7000 and in March 2014 (when my contract is up) I'll be looking to upgrade. I'll probably buy a new Galaxy note 3 as a handset (I'm in need of a new watch as well and the Galaxy Gear is a possibility) also air command looks sweet and I'm keen to try it.
I'm also hoping to buy my first tablet PC before January as I'm a motorcycling Computer Science under-grad and looking to reduce the weight I need to carry to university by leaving my 11.6 inch Acer Aspire 1825ptz touchscreen netbook at home and taking a thinner lighter tablet to lectures. I've been using Evernote for over 7 months now and love it, although I miss S-Note functionality a bit (running cyanogen 10.2-20131107-nightly-n7000 mod.) I was considering buying the 8 inch Galaxy Note but having read this thread I'm more inclined to get the 10.1 inch 2014 Note now.
I'll mostly be reading papers (.pdf) on it in the Kindle app (see attached) which I'll want to annotate as I'm reading, view powerpoint presentations in it (I use kingston office for this on my N7000 so I for see no problems with the 10.1 inch) again that I'll want to take notes onto.
I guess what I'd like to know please:
1. How exactly do the 2 apps integrate? Is it you open SNote and it's got a share to ever note option? Or vica versa? Or are they completely integrated into one app?
2. Do you think a Galaxy 3 / Gear / 10.1 inch 2014 Note is the optimal solution for the remainder of my studies and then more importantly do you think it'd be a good solution for a trainee teacher? (yrs 11 - 18)
3. Did I read somewhere that the 10.1 inch or the Galaxy 3 is going to have an IR blaster? (I could use a decent remote control)
Thanks in advance for any help / youtube review / links to relevant posts / URL's you can give.
All I want is Inking support in Evernote. The only reason I use S-Note at all is because of its default support for inking notes, but if I could use the stylus in Evernote on both my Windows 8 and Android devices, I'd be set.
I use the Galaxy Tab 4 in my product line that relies heavily on the bluetooth performance, especially SPP.
Tab 3 lite failed miserably with random bluetooth issues like disconnects, etc..
Unfortunately, I see that samsung is discontinuing, or has discontinued the Tab 4 line. But I also saw a brand new Tab A 7.0 model, likely its successor.
My ultimate question is, What bluetooth chipset does it use compared to the Tab4? is it the same? different? Worse or Better?
Any ideas? Thanks.
I wouldn't bother with that device anyway. Samsung have locked it down and locked it's bootloader.

That didn't answer my question. I dont give a rats *** whether the bootloader is signature locked or not as it bears no relevance to what I am doing, and my product line. This isn't about root. Besides CPU glitching could fix that, But I digress.
I needed to know its bluetooth performance, or what is the best tablet for the price that contains the same bluetooth stability as the Tab 4.
My application is mission critical on the bluetooth SPP profile, and I had found the Tab 4 met those expectations, whereas the tab 3 lite or any "lite" tablet did NOT.
any thoughts? Thanks.

Sorry, Could a moderator please move it into the correct forum? That would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just to update, the bluetooth performance and range is total garbage. Now looking for an alternative...
Hey guys. I have a few Samsung Galaxy tablets including a couple of older Tab 4 7". As a software engineer, I'm interested in not only rooting these devices, but learning the whole process since my experience is more on the server side and I want to know more about the Mobile space. Could anyone recommend good resources for this study and would a Tab 4 serve as a good guinea pig?

I would be counted in . New to this whole thing kind but I'd like to do the same thing that my tabet does to other devices.

The only thing I've been able to come up with is specific to Samsung and only a maybe, that being calling Samsung's 800 number. I'm guessing that they get requests like this all the time for developers and I haven't tried calling myself yet, so hopefully it's a procedure that would help learning of the architecture of a device and not some magic pill like the autoroot scripts out there.
