This will probably not apply to many members of this forum, but for anyone coming here with an ns4g from CREDO Wireless rather than Sprint I have found a potential problem and its solution with using custom ROMs.
If you install a ROM that changes the MMSC URL you will no longer be able to send MMS. You can find your current URL by using the Data Programming dialer code: *#*#3282#*#* then selecting view -> Others -> MMSC URL.
The fix for this is to use the correct url for CREDO of can't post links ask me and I would be happy to share. To edit the url entry you'll need your MSL number from CREDO. I was able to simply call them up and ask for the number I do not know if I got lucky or if this is their standard policy.
I can now post url's so here it is: http://mms.plspictures.com

GPRS settings :
1. start -> settings -> connection -> connection and tap new..
2. name it SatGPRS for an example
3. tap the modem tab and tap new
4. enter SatGPRS as name for an example, Select A Modem : Cellular Line (GPRS), Baud Rate : anything u want
5. tap advanced and tap the name servers tab, enter 202.152.162.66 as the primary dns
6. tap ok at the top right and tap next, enter satelindogprs.com as the access point name
7. tap finish
you're all done...please anyone if u have cooked a working setting for exwap to sent mms, post it here...hope i can be any help...

I sincerely apologize for this. I searched for an hour on the forum and couldn't get an answer or a thread. Does anyone know how to spoof the IE user agent of the Trinity to get it to point to the Rogers WAP homepage to make use of the unlimited video on demand and radio stuff? Do you have a cab file or custom settings to allow me to point to it?
Thanks in advance,
Gilbert
I am in the same boat, using the Trinitiy on Rogers 3G. Asked the same question on HowardForums as well as searched extensively all over the place and so far no solution to using the Rogers Video-on-demand service on the Vision plan. It appears that the page mymobilehomepage.rogers.com will not display correctly for non-Rogers phone. I've seen one poster mention on HowardForums that "Or for unsupported phones like HTC Tytn, Trinity you need to spoof the User Agent value of the IE browser to show as a supported phone." No idea what he meant by "spoof the User Agent value" and he didn't answer my request to clarify. The thread is located here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1164477
If you come across a solution, please share, I am sure this would be of great interest to not only Trinity but also Tytn and Blackjack users.
Hi,
I wrote a mini tutorial not too long ago on how to change your user agent string in PIE. I have a Trinity, but the method should work equally well for any windows mobile phone (post AKU 3.3).
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305008
As the link explains, after modifying the appropriate dll file, you will need to change a registry key to the useragent string of the phone you want to simulate. Assuming you know a model of phone that is supported by this "Rogers 3G network", a google search should lead you to the correct UA string within seconds
jamesbest77, thanks for the clarification, after reading your thread it all kinda makes sense. I've tried googling for the Samsung A706 user agent string and to my embarrassment couldn't come up with anything that would even remotely resemble the format of the user string you posted for your Nokia.
I've posted a request for the correct UA string on HoFo: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=9236713#post9236713 Hopefully somebody with an A706 will respond. I'll make sure to post it here if they do.
I couldnt find it either, sorry for making it sound so easy
I had a look on the rogers site and it looks like there are other models that are supported. I forgot to mention, when a site detects a supported phone model, the web page sent back is usually rendered specifically for that model of phone. Since different phones use different browsers and have different screen resolutions, its not the case that any supported phone model will be compatible with the tytn/trinity. When visiting a webpage, with a modified user agent string, you may get a prompt to download a file even though you are visiting a site that worked fine normally. This means that particular user agent string isnt compatible with the trinity.
So the best thing to do is to try all of them until you get one that works, then stick with that. I had a look on the rogers site and these phones are listed (amongst many others).

James, do you think it's worth trying the A707 (US version of the A706) UA string data? Both models should be identical in hardware and functionality. The A707 UA string is:
SAMSUNG-SGH-A707/1.0 SHP/VPP/R5 NetFront/3.3 SMM-MMS/1.2.0 profile/MIDP-2.0 configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0
I am wondering if simply changing the model number from 707 to 706 might do the trick.
I have no idea how to extract the browser.dll file from the ROM (using the latest HTC WM5 version, haven't jumped onto the WM6 bandwagon yet). Would you be able create two .cab files, one for changing the UA to A706 and another to return to the regular Trinity settings? Sorry for asking to be spoonfed, I just have no clue how to get the .dll file and hex-edit it...
I'm not sure you can modify dll files unless you are using a cooked rom due to some certification procedure. Though I might be *completely* wrong here, since I'm a bit of a n00b too. We could give it a go anyway. If things go pear shaped, you could just reflash with the original htc rom anyway, so back up everything important first!
You said you are "using the latest HTC WM5 version". Could you be more specific? Which version number is it and where did you get this rom from exactly? A direct link to the rom would be good. Even better ?and perhaps more enjoyable for you? would be if you could download the rom yourself and extract the file browser.dll using Mamiach's Imgfs tools (here). The thread describes how to use the tools to extract the files from the rom file.
Once you have the file, zip it up and send it to me, and I'll make the necessary cabs and post them here.
Hi All,
This is a continuation of this thread. It is now possible to send SMS over IP with VoIP operators that support SMS gateway using SIP messages (mainly betamax companies like 12voip, voipraider, voipbuster, poivy, ...). No special gui is needed, you can just use the regular HTC Messaging.
This involves replacement of the sms.dll system file, so USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
Installation:
1- Install the attached cab file on the device or the storage card and confirm reset when finished
2- After reset run SMSoIP Config before sending any sms
3- Fill in the parameters as follows:
SIP Server: SIP server address (eg: sip.voipraider.com, sip.smartvoip.com, ...)
Username: <your username>
Password: <your password>
Caller ID: <your phone number verified with your voip provider> This is required for the receiving party to see your number
Country Code: <international tel code of your country> This is required if you have numbers not stored in international format, also to detect if the destination is international or not. (eg: 90 for Turkey, 32 for Belgium, ...) Note: If you have the latest HTC messaging in your rom, you need to use +90 or +32, ...
Option: Choose the behavior you want
Auto Connect: Enable if you want auto data connection. This might result in additional charges with your gsm provider
Enable Debug: Enable debug popups if you have problems
Note: For people who have the latest HTC messaging
v1_8_20161228_00, you need to select CDMA as Sending network in messaging options for some reason
4- Enjoy

Just uninstall the old one, install the new one, reboot and configure.
Can this be used on 6.5.x roms ?
does it allow an option of sending method ? carrier sms or voipsms ?
Great idea ...
This is posted under "Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General", but the post talks only about HTC messaging. Does this mean that the hack won't work on any other devices, like for example Samsung Omnia?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I used to use this with a 6.5.x ROM that didn't have Sense nor the HTC Messaging. Either way I think it should be safe to just backup your sms.dll (maybe the program even does this for you, I don't really remember that) and try this. I don't have my Winmo phone to check anymore, sorry.

Yes to both.
I started a new tool called DAMAA to display and/or merge apns-conf.xml content.
Main idea is in many ROMs, APNs miss for some users and consequently, users report always same issues :
- "no MMS"
- "no Internet"
...
If each people/ROM developers give its final apns-conf.xml file (join in post here) as base of next merge for another user/dev, we could have very very complete APNs in our ROMs
So, post your apns-conf.xml here with :
- phone model
- ROM
- ROM version
- Android Version
... and others information allowing to identify context of use of APNs configuration
This tool is a Java applet running at this url : http://mat.pxl.free.fr
I have tested with apns-conf.xml from ICS (IceColdSandwich 8.4) and JB (JellyTime) on HTC Desire HD. These files are version 7. I don't think previous versions are correctly managed by this tool.
It is a first version and pre pre pre pre pre alpha, please be fair
In future development, I'll complete/add some features, but your reports and advices are also important !!
Change log 07 August 2012 :
- Added "Add" APN manually.
Thanks

Hi PXL42
Good idea! Your tool could be a way for me to get - finally - MMS working with ICS/Jelly bean roms without SENSE on my DHD.
It seems that Orange CH needs an APN for wap and the setting "Protocol MMS: wap 2.0" in internet and mms APN. I can send/receive MMS with Virtuous Infinity (custom rom ICS with Sense) without wifi enable, but never with ICS rom without sense (IceColdSandwich or JellyTime)
One big difference in APN settings: Virtuous has 1 APN more for Orange CH: WAP apn and Protocol MMS in all 3 apns.
All I have to do is to find in the custom roms ICS with Sense.where are stocked the APN for Wap and the setting "Protocol MMS". I've verified in apns-conf.xml of Viruous Infinity and it's not there
If someone has an idea, it will be awesome!

This is not speculation, see http: //androidxref.com/4.4_r1/xref/frameworks/base/core/java/android/net/CaptivePortalTracker.java#372 (I'm not allowed to post links yet).
