guys, can someone work on this?

i want to try this gesture for my synaptics screen panel but the dev has discontinued the project...
... No. If you are unhappy with your synaptics then go buy a cypress one. Dx will not ever improve it because everyone wanted something that was impossible.
i'd buy it, but i don't know where find it...
Well you can always buy a new phone. Or trade it.

Well ... Not everyone has the money for a new phone. It's a pity, of course, that it happened. Myself suffering because of this chip Synaptics. But in my town I do, honestly, I have not seen another chip, only this one.

Well the shift looks like has been delayed again now till Febuary. The reason why? Looks like HTC now cant decide if the shift should be shipping with the phone or not is one of the reasons. looks like they do read these forums and are really considering have it ship stock with voice capabilities out of the box.
How do I know this? well my new source just told me this. who is it? well our very own boygenius has emailed me that they are currently still deciding on this issue and its contributing to why the shift has been delayed.
The latest rom i have did still have phone settings in it so looks like they are swaying still towards it shipping with phone.
Now this kinda proves what i kept on saying that it had the phone abilities. what i was never sure of is if it will ship. we now know they are deciding on it.
That's nice to know... actually I just pre-ordered one.
but at least I'm happy cuz now every body can belive pawel was right!
I think still have to use the athena project's os for use full wm6.
I donated athena project...... mm.... actually not that much amount..
but I really want to say thank to athena project guys...
ok good news (even if delay are not so fun), I hope they understand why it is so important to have phone capabilities .. they put a SMS section on their shift support webpage ... if they remove this ability I think it will be a real problem because we all know about this ability and we'll never accept losing it. I own an HTC Touch but will be really happy to have a shift with phone + my Touch .. both are for different use (one as an calendar and real phone) and the shift allow me not to bring my touch all the time. I can choose which one I took .. I can't bring the shift to a party, to some holidays .. because there are too many risks of losing it, being stolen, etc.. so I would really enjoy both.
But what about the Origami 2.0 package? The shift had this package at CES2008... and it would be the PERFECT "official" reason for a delay. I think that with this package the shift will be THE BEST UMPC for more than a year.
Thanks for the news, I hope we will have more news in the coming days and weeks
ANOTHER delay?
Why don,t they just get the device out there with everything enabled and let the user choose how they wanna use it!?.
Who are they? Microsoft??
C'mon guys at HTC! just release it! We'll hack your ROMs anyway......

It's not only about choice .. the delay comes from many reasons ... yes there are some choices to be made.. but there are issue about the number of shift to produce.. I have heard about CPU for the WM6 part that were not enough produced by Qualcomm and that was the big reason for the delay .. so we'll see
Hi, me tells a german distributor, that HTC has a "special Chinese Year" (like the chinese Year of the dragon, religion) within that, the people works not so a lot and be more relaxed, so that all things that come from there have delivery problems..
maybe i dont now it´s true, but that tell me a distri ;-)
i´m very angry about HTC politics, first they tell some specifications and later the dont have this specifications. (HTC Touch DUAL and S730 without GPS) I tell my users one half year ago, wait please for the new modells with GPS, and then, they change her product spezifications 1 months before to "without gps"..
i´m very angry, i´m sell and support many years with htc devices, i deployed and report many problems with the devices to htc or to the distris, sells more than 3000 devices since start with Wallaby/MDA ..
maybe it´s time to change again.
but we will see, i test the shift - is it right than we stay - is not i search again - i found always a other solution

Oh.. Well.. If that is the case I guess I should be a bit more understanding... I guess.
But it still sucks...
The Qualcomm patent problem stuff sucks too.
Sorry for the bad language, but that is how I feel.
It just does....

I'm looking at buying a prophet, and the description says that the " Phone randomly crashes turning the screen either completely light or completely dark and require a reseat of the battery to work again. This phone is considered un-repairable by the manufacture. Phone also has unsupported customized Windows Mobile 6.1 firmware."
could this be a software issue or do you think a hardware. possibly a ribbon cable, are there parts available for these? thanks
Hello Quintman and welcome to the forum.
I have no idea where you got the information in your post but as someone who has used a Prophet for 2 years I can tell you that the phone is perfectly stable, specially if you stick with the original WM 5 ROM.
I still use and love it but I would not recommend buying this phone today unless you are looking for something cheap.
It is fairly outdated compared to most models, and has no GPS, 3G, and a slow processor.
I suggest yo post your needs and budget in the general section so people could advise on a better model.
lol i just didnt want to say where it was so everyone would bid on it. it is from ebay. i just didnt know if maybe the rom someone flashed was causing the screen issue or if a ribbon cable came loose or something worse. i was just thinking of buying it to play with it. I currently have a wizard that im selling (hopefully today) so im looking into something else. i love the different models with gps and that can take sdhc, that way i could sell both my gps unit and my mp3 player, but i think those are out of my price range (unless i somehow score one on ebay.) i cant decide whether to take a chance on the ebay one. check your pm

I think all of you have seen the specs of the HTC DIAMOND
Who is going to get the HTC DIAMOND? I'm not going to waist my time waiting for members who have the courage to keep trying making the wifi and gps working. I have to felicitate their efforts but think i'm about to sell my dual to get HTC DIAMOND or HTC TITANIUM(Diamond with 20 keys...not a lot info for the moment)
ps: please replace "by" by "buy" in the poll options
i'd go for a TITANIUM whenever i feel like it
but i do like my sirf iii solar bluetooth gps device and dont miss wifi as i have unlimited web bolt on, BUT, speedy graphics will probably push me over to the diamond side !
I buy via work a HTC Daimond, if its released. We use HTC Units ... most are HTC VOX and Niki.
i'll be keeping my touch dual for sure.
i agree that the diamond is awesome in terms of functionality but why on earth release a pocket pc phone with no SD card ????
there is no way I'm buying this
the only thing that's keeping me from being completely sure that i will replace my touch dual with the diamond is the lack of a 16key hardware keyboard which i have right now.
although if it's true what they say about the HTC Titanium which is supposedly the Diamond with a HW keyboard then that's it, done deal for me.
I hear that HTC is going to provide the drivers for the Kaiser, if that's the case, the drivers for our Touch Duals will soon follow. SO no reason to rush getting the Diamond yet for me. I'll give it a few more months.
I do have a question .... Why are they putting such low mAh batteries in highend devices now-a-days?
The Diamond has 900mah or something like that... It's 3.5g with the highest HSPDA available right now, right? So ... that's like 1 hour on 3g? lol. It's processor is really fast, and that'll eat up the battery. It's graphics are really good, too (from the videos i've seen)... So.... Sedio Ext. batteries anyone?
what i find odd about new htc products in general is that they always have something missing.
for diamond that would be - sd storage + quad band + keyboard
really very frustrating.
I agree with boboduck. If they release a diamond with a keyboard and sd-storage I'll consider buying one. Until then I'll keep my Niki.
The diamond is aimed at a different market than all other HTC phones released to date, its more of a phone to pose with than get out of your pocket at a works meeting. 4GB is plenty of storage for most users and the lack of a keyboard isn't a problem. I don't see people with the iPhone or LG Prada refusing to buy them until they come with a keyboard.
I am buying one because they are aesthetically and technically brilliant, I'm keeping my dual primarily as my day to day phone and my diamond is going to be my going out phone that my friends and other people see me with.
By the way I've pre-ordered mine off Play.com for £429 with free delivery, cheapest Ive seen so far and they are due in stock on the 19th of this month!

It's a marketing strategy. You do not put every feature in one device, because if you do, you have no reason to sell other devices.

As done by most other manufacturers too, Nokia used to never release a complete phone, although you could argue that the N95 8Gb has changed that. Sony Ericsson also release their phones in either the Cybershot camp or the Walkman Camp, but not both.
I do hope someone can cook the touchflo 3D for niki
We will have to wait for these anticipated 3d drivers to come about before manilla is usable on the niki i reckon, the diamond looks to stutter a bit with it and that has got the 3d drivers running!
I'm not holding out much hope really for it running well and i reckon it could be a memory hogging monster, HTC haven't put 192 meg of ram on the diamond for no reason....
i totally agree about the marketing strategy. this is the reason why dual has no wi-fi.
Because if it did, then nobody would buy the elf or vogue.
if htc do however release an all-in-one phone, i think it'll hurt our pockets
i just hope someone can try to put the touch flo 3D in niki
I just pre-ordered from play.com
I havent had it agreed by my wife yet.... eek!
Will keep touch dual. I'am student and have no money for the diamond!
So far I can't find a soft keyboard that is comparable to the hardware keypad for Chinese input. so better stay with Nike.
I voted for replacing my nike with a diamond, but the absence of sd breaks it for me.
A PDA without external storage is ridiculous.
Hello everyone!
I need a piece of advice. I want to replace my Blackstone, to buy a new phone and I'm hesitating! If I was to buy a WM device, I would surely buy the Leo, since it appears to me that it's the best one, what's more, it will have an official upgrade to WM 7!
But I'm wavering because I saw pictures of the Sony X10 which seems also very nice. Both of them have capacitive screens, but won't be multitouch till they get their upgrade (to WM7 for Leo and to Android 2.0 for X10), they both have snapdragon, but none of them have an AMOLED screen.
So the question is, if I'm used to WM, will I like Android? Are there enough applications? Games? etc
Another question also, is the HD2 like the HD? I mean, do they have great hardware but no drivers to use it?
Thank you for your answers!
I think this is again, a bit of apples and oranges comparison because of the OS. You have thrown in though some of the points I would question as well. The biggest point was with the WM7 coming through the pipes and whether Android and the X10's new features are enough to bring you across.
Again for me, I'm still more excited about the HD2 because in a way, it's like buying two different phones in one. In the sense, you are getting the best of today's 6.5 right now and since it's upgradable to WM7, it will feel like a completely new phone again by the end of the year. Keep in mind as well the HD2 is good to go now with HDSPL and cooked roms. The X10 hasn't even made it out of the gate yet.
At this point, those who chose the X10 are all wishing they went the HD2 route because by then, the X10 has become boring now. All phones slowly get boring as we all went the latest stuff when it comes out. THE HD2 Gives you that.....Now and Later.
Hope this helped...
If you want AMOLED go for the OMNIA 2.I heard it is a great display.
And yes the HD2 has the same DRIVERS issue.I mean great harware and no drivers.

Sorry about the second post.
Some computer issues.
You might want to check Google phone Nexus One - HTC's first AMOLED with Snapdragon and Android...
I know about the Nexus One, but I don't like it because it has a resistive screen, right? so it won't have multitouch, even with a software upgrade!
Ok, it seems like I was wrong ^^
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/surprise-surprise-htcs-euro-spec-nexus-one-does-multitouch/
So, now, I'm also considering the Nexus One as a good candidate ^^
There doesn't seem to be a thread on XDA Dev for this exciting home phone, so I thought I'd create one. Quite weird actually, the first Android powered home phone and no ones talking about it!
I first caught wind of this just before Christmas 2010 and I thought WOW this looks cool! It does sound cool right?!
When I looked into it I thought it could have a bit better specs, but it's the first one out so I can only guess they are just publically testing the concept. Around November/December last year there were a lot of sites talking about it, but no one really had a hands on review, I though I'd wait till the new year, around January/February time till people have had a good mess around with it, but that time has been and gone, and a quick search on Google reveals no new news on it since early January
I don't actually have one myself but I would really like to get one just to try it out. But for £100 it's a tad to expensive for me at the moment. Its sold at Argos, Homebase used to sell it, but they don't list it on their website anymore.
If anyone has one please speak up!
Here are the quick stats:
-Android 1.6
-256MB internal memory
-SD Card Slot
-2.8" resistive touch screen (320x240)
-Wi-Fi

From what I gather the Motorola HS1001 is practically the same phone.
There are some videos on youtube of the HS1001 in action.
Now I'm no Android expert but I'm no dunce either, so this question goes out to the real hardcore Android hackers out there:
When you get a brand new device and you want to 'open it up' to get different ROMs on there etc, what the first thing you do?
Do you find out how to get in the bootloader?
Do you hook it up to your PC and run ADB or Fastboot or some other tool?
Or something else altogether?
I'd guess it's easier if its a new HTC device or another well known manafacturer as you would assume it's quite like the HTC devices that have come before it, but what about if it's a new device from a newish manafacturer? Would you see if anyones hacked any devices that company have made before? I'm guessing it's also easier if the company releases the source for their phones version of Android.
Lol, I think the lack of response answers a few of my questions
If there are any devs browsing this topic, I would still like some answers regarding the 'What do you do with a totally new device' questions.
I am looking at getting one of these phones eventually, and it looks like I will be the only one with it, so I'll be doing all the dev work myself from scratch
Thanks for the info.
I never thought an "Android" "housephone" existed!
since im all go for converting the world to Android I would seriously LOVE to own one.
there is one left in the argos near me, but as you rightly stated £100 is a lot of money.
if i do invest in one i will post further information, just dont hold your breath!!
Thanks again.
I bought one of these phones last night and first impressions are pretty good! Its a little slow, but I'm comparing it to my SGS2
Is there anyone else out there with this phone?
Whats the deal with Binatone not releasing the source code like the big phone companies do? I thought it was a requirement of the GPL?
