Very nice Home screen. I have a few quick questions. How is the speed and performance? Any noticeable lag? Is the browsing experience enhanced? Does it run apps/ games as good as Honeycomb? Thanks a lot bro, if you can answer.
What theme is that? its awesome!!!!!!
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
To me it seems much the same as when I had Revolver overclocked to 1.6 but keep in mind this is a work in progress. Each build gets faster and faster although there is some lag and touchscreen issues. Also forgot to mention the mousepad off button and camera are not working at the moment. All in all a pretty snappy and well put together rom for a beta release.
Also i forgot to mention that I installed in this order:
Stock rom
full wipe in CWM including dalvik and cache
build 20120211
Kernel flash
20120219 (no wipe just flashed over)
Sent from my Sparkified TF101
By the way, does Asus SuperNote work on Spark/ICS?
Maybe you can try this, it sould work with ics.
What are the icons at the bottom of the screen? Not the status bar but just above that
I flashed the 20120219 Spark build coming from Revolver and was very impressed but had issues playing games for eg: GTAIII, X-Plane, Sim City Deluxe so I had to revert back to revolver for the time being as i use my TF mainly for gaming on the commute.
Browser was great, nice seeing ICS on the big screen (I have a G-Nex to compare) but I did have the touch responsive problem, every 3rd touch would register. I will be trying out every build of Spark that comes out as it will in no doubt get better and better!
My only question, does NOVA launcher run on it? I have NOVA launcher on my G-Nex and it's so sweet!
touchscreen flakiness is the only thing that forced me back to revolver.
I'm running stock spark, with Chrome as browser and almost no other hacks or customizations.
My biggest issue with Spark as a daily (I'm using it) is that using the softkeyboard (when not docked) is really painful. It seemingly only registers every second or third key and you just want to kill it.
Only tried with stock keyboard though. Might want to try thumbkeyboard or something else and see if that works better.
IM using it now its ok im going back revolver

Yes, I am using the Nova launcher and it works great. You just need to push the apk to system/app, fix permissions and reboot.

First of all not using a theme. Just some custom shortcuts, wallpaper, widgets and some icons i got here. Right now Just running 1 screen with all the basics to keep as much of the resources free as possible. As the build nears completion i will expand to probably 5 screens. Sticking to the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principal because if i lose everything i wont be pissed.
here = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17128400
Setting up a simmilar layout to mine (which is uber simple by comparison to some of the layouts in the above link) takes about 20-30 mins.
I just wanted to keep it simple because i may have to wipe it later. You should check out some of the amazing layouts in the "Hubs" Nav+ thread in the themes and apps section. Lots of amazing tutorials and tips there.
Personally i have never tried Nova launcher how is it compared to ADW ex?

I think once the main drivers are working (gps, camera, etc.) and the touchscreen issues are fixed I will be switching over to it for daily use.
Supernote works but is not inluded. I unzipped a rom and grabbed it from there and pushed it into my system apps folder.... Besides the camera not working I love this rom. I used the touch screen calibrate app to increase sensitivity. Every now and then the launcher will go blank and I need to force close it then all is fine... I am def not going back to honeycomb. This rom is way snappier then it was on honeycomb overclocked...

Ya agreed it is much snappier and I am also not going back to honeycomb. Never had the launcher go blank though ( maybe because i am using ADW) i do have some random reboots but not anymore often than Honeycomb. I there anything eles you are running that may be conflicting with the launcher?

you can snapperify it too if you go to settings/development options and turn window animation scale and transition animation scale to .5

I've searched the other forums and read through them; however, I want a more updated take, especially people using the HTC Evo, which do you prefer and why?
Are the speeds that much better? Do you miss the sense widgets? Did you eventually adjust or did you have that feeling in the back of your rom that it wasn't the same?
Thanks in advance!
I prefer Launcher Pro, don't miss the sense widgets, just the flip clock.
I like some of the built in aspects of sense, the better integration with Facebook pics, and so forth (missing that since I have rooted and installed Deck's ROM..Facebook App just doesn't seem as nice in syncing them).
However for interface, Launcher Pro has been my toy of choice for at least 9 months.
I used launcher pro exclusively on all Rom.
Until I loaded a sense 3.0 rom. That interface is just so nice.
Haven't gone back to LP

Same with me. I kept waiting for that next great promised LP to come out, but he's not getting it done. Sense 3.0 is here and pretty good. LP next gen is vaporware.

Smoother? Not the case with the ROM i use. The carousel for home pages and the albums is perfect. I'm still not over spinning it just for the heck of it
LauncherPro Plus all the way. Scrolling dock, looping homescreens, nice transitions. I don't miss Sense at all. I use Pure Calendar and Pure Agenda, both fullscreen, and a few shortcuts. Plus I use an AOSP ROM, so Sense is a distant memory for me.
I use Launcher Pro on my GTablet and after reading this thread, I may try it on my EVO too.

Yeah I think people are comparing LP plus to sense 2 or 2.1 without having actually installed a 3.0 rom.
Look at what SilverZero said...how can Sense 3.0 be a distant memory? Good working roms have only been out for a little over a month.
If you like it and it ain't broke don't fix it. But this thread is sounding a little fanboy-ish when people haven't actually used both.
SPB shell 3D is best, but the cost was a downer.

Just woundering I know alot of ppl don't like it (sense) but I do I've been using sense since I've been introduced to the android world but when I bought a tablet I wanted acer's tab cuz it was 300 less then the jetstream lol
Anywho the market used to be packed with sense like launcher themes yes there is one or 2 of them that are close but most of them know have sense icons with clear or black icons not the actual style I'm looking for if any one can help me get my sense on that would be awesome!
Thanks guys n gals
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, to get the sense icons and widgets you would have to buy the HTC Flyer Tablet. I too miss sense. I can find any good looking widgets for my Acer. Even bought ADW EX launcher when the market had it on sale for 10 cents but it was disappointing. Alot of people knock sense, but compared to all the other software overlays for Android Sense blows them all away.
It doesn't all make sense
My first Android was a G2 with pure Android and no overlay. I first used ADW plain and last winter the EX came out and I bought it.
Then my phone broke. My replacement was a my touch 4g slide with sense 3.0. Hearing how great it was, I went and used it. For about an hour. Then I put on my tried and true ADW Launcher EX. I have tried several others and kept going back.
Then I got a A500, stock 3.2 and tried whatever overlay that had. Same result. I cannot see how anyone can use anything but ADW. But I am different than most people I know.
And while I am at it, I have the same situation with Swype. The G2 came with Swype and I cannot figure out how anyone could want anything else. Then I got CM7 and no Swype. I felt naked. I ended up with the Swype beta and all was well. Then when I got my my touch, it had Swype and the world was back in order.
Then I got to my A500 and no Swype. Thankfully, I got the Swype beta on there. The screen is too big for the swyping in landscape but it can be shrunk. But still, all the alternate keys are easily accessable.
I would swear by both ADW and Sywpe.
I know I am not alone but I don't know if I am a minority reporter or not.
Just my opinion.
Just in case you guys didn't know but this is how I get to sense look alike as close as possible.
1.) *Adw launcher ex*
Then I got sense theme the 1st and only look alike if you type *adw sense theme* in market. Right now I'm using ICS Theme by sunny skeleton and I love it!
2.) *Android pro Widgets* (paid version)
Then download free theme called *graphics pro dark*.
3.) *bought beautiful Widgets* sense like clock with a animated weather app also in market which is free if you bought B.W.
Then just download the sense clock.
That should help ill post a pic or 3 below.

Should be some in the framework-res.apk and also in each of the system apps youll find the logo for that apk within it. I.E. gmail.apk will have the gmail logo inside of it. Should be in the res folder. If not that just dig around with in the framework and system apps and youll find it.

winrar, winzip, or 7zip. They should all work .
I just went through one of my old project files since I'm on my computer now.
Here's an example, when you open up the rom zip go to:
system>app there you'll find all of the system apks.
Once you find the apk you want the logo from open it and go to:
res>drawable-mdpi
You should find the icon there, most apks are the same so most of them will be located there. If not than just do some digging around, not like you'll brick anything from digging around the file .
If you're still having trouble than post a link to the rom you downloaded and I'll look through it.
Yea I also have had sense 3.5 on my inspire and also wish they would port it! But its next to impossible to accomplish such a task

Unless you mean something like a custom Launcher. I use KJY's ROM but I have ADW launcher EX running on my tab. If I can recall correctly I think its the only custom launcher that has honeycomb support. With it I can change the icons to whatever I like (but your home, back and task switcher buttons will always look the same unless you download one of KJY;s themes, which are pretty slick).

Alright 2 launchers, but ADW is a little more affordable. I know the other launchers work too, but most of them you can't get from the market because they are deemed "incompatible", you will have to get them from other sources.

That's what Android is all about right? Choice
I am currently using the SPB Shell 3D. I do really like it. I would however love to have the Go Launcher. That's what I use on my phone and I love it. I don't have any reason aside from themes to root my Iconia, so I won't. I think the Go Launcher and ADW Launcher are about the best options for theming for now.
i have adw launcher ex but I was talking about different flashable theme with a whole new look with different fonts and buttons colors etc...
Yea agreed but I wish go launcher tablet would be available cuz the current version lags during screen transition and after about an hour of use it asked about my resolution in which case it changes it to tiny mode with icons the size of half of the original .. I think every launcher development team is now seeing that tablets tegra 2 10.1 are dropping in price so more people are picking them up before they are discontinued for new tegra 3 devices.

I just tried it. So far, the only thing special about it is the edit mode. Obviously a very early beta.
The buttons at the top of the screen are kinda too big for my taste.
Also this isn't ICS exclusive. It's for android 3.0 and up.
Does that have any effect on performance and features when used on ICS compared to other launchers that are ICS exclusive?
One thing I noticed is that the Go Launcher HD's app drawer doesn't show your widgets like the stock ICS app drawer. It only has a tab for "GoWidgets".

Nobody said it was ICS exclusive. It is for tablets (and I'm afraid most tablets are still running Honeycomb).
The two ICS only launchers (Nova and Apex) are far more buggy for me sadly.
I expect many more features in the coming updates (the Go Developers are usually quite fast), of course this is Beta 1 (or 2 by now) but its working pretty well for me, altough it may not be the one for everyone. I don't know if the Widgets in the drawer will be added at some point, but even if they were, you would still need root access to use that (like with Nova and Apex).

I know nobody said it was ICS exclusive. Not sure why you are so defensive. I was just wondering about the performance and optimization of ICS exclusive launchers vs non ICS exclusive launchers when used on ICS.
As far as I know, there are 3, not two, ICS only launchers: Nova, Apex and Trebuchet. They aren't really buggy, especially not "far more buggy". Anyway you shouldn't be comparing them to Go HD beta in terms of bugs since the current Go HD beta barely even has any features to be bugged.
The stock launcher has widgets in app drawer though. It's one of the additional features of ICS. So I personally wouldn't like a custom launcher on my ICS that doesn't have that feature. Rooting is easy so I don't care if custom launchers need root to enable it.
Anyhow, stop trying to defend Go Launcher against my opinion. This isn't a Go Launcher fan forum.

I'm not defending Go Launcher, you just have your opinion and I have mine. In my case Apex and Nova have had too many crashes and sometimes sluggish screen transitions (Trebuchet, being the standard launcher of CM9, isn't an alternative for my unrooted TF101) but I may try them again (I change my laucher of choice every once in a while anyway), because they definitely offer some great things that are missing in the Go Launcher Beta (although the graphical widget picker is not that vital for me)- on the other hand the Beta also has some nice unique features like the comfortable edit mode, nice editing of folders and the ability to have folders in the app drawer, sorting apps by most used, the built in task manager- probably more to come. I am just interested in the progress of this project, if you don't like it you don't need to use it.
New launchers are always welcome. I'm using ADW for its slew of options I'm am able to get a good setup. I solely use Go Launcher for family members and their tablets because I like the Lock, hide, and task manager abilities.
Will give this a run and see how I like it.

Wondering if you are using the tablet beta or the regular Go Launcher Ex? When I tried adding the Go Widgets got the message "you need Go Launcher Ex".
Seems a nice launcher, works fine, nice interface especially the one to add icons to a screen, like it !!!
still some issues, adding widgets is not always smooth: sometime widgets appear empty, and the solution is to restart the launcher.
and still it has very little options and customizations compared to the Go Launcher Ex.

Sounds strange, I'm also using the nice Go Widgets (you see the twitter widget in the video) and they work flawlessly.
There's even am option in the tablet beta for them (e.g. the dedicated Go Widgets tab in the app drawer) that gives you a direct link to the market. And when you download one you should have the option to click and hold on one of these Widgets in this separate section and drag it on one screen.

Wondering if you are using the tablet beta or the regular Go Launcher Ex? When I tried adding the Go Widgets got the message "you need Go Launcher Ex".

using tablet version.
its too awesome. I might quit my job to play with it
I just want to share with all of you my experience with Google launcher. After installing the launcher, I notice the tablet is running really smoothly. No lags at all. Also apps open faster and reduce battery usage. Please do the same and share your experience here and let us know.
Note: if you are a big fan of the magazine UI you will lose it because it is a part of the TouchWiz. Not a big deal for me for faster performance, it is actually worth losing this feature.

No, all you have to do is side load the right apks. You can Google how to install the Google Experience Launcher. It won't be on the play store for non nexus devices

That is right. I downloaded the apk and installed it in my note 12.2. It is working just fine and it actually makes the device run better and faster.

I agree with you but this is a screen shot of mine. I put the app that I use more often.

Holy wide margins Batman!
Just think, we've paid a premium for a screen that's a little over 10 inches wide in landscape and launchers like this or Touchwiz piss away about 3 inches of it on margins. This is my #1 reason for installing Nova Prime within 20 minutes of owning the tablet LOL.

Yeah true. I guess its just the novelty of sideloading Google Launcher that's not really made for the Note Pro or something. I found it way too limited compared to Nova. I had Nova Prime on my Note Pro within a few minutes out of the box!
Wow clean home screen.
I try to use as much as I can on mine LOL.
Back on topic though I wouldn't mind always on search from Google Now Launcher. I currently run Switchr as a left sided swipe action so I wouldn't make use of the swipe for Google Now.
Currently I have long press of home button to trigger Google Now and then have to say Ok Google to bring up voice search (or double tap home to bring up Samsung's S-Search which I never use).
^ Those Widgets look great. Specifically the weather, calendar and tasks. Mind saying what those are?
I usually keep my main homepage pretty clear but have calendars and other Widgets on the secondary pages. But the Note Pro is so big there's room to stretch out a bit!
Anyone care to share their Google now apk. Thanks in advance

I tried this and while it was very quick, the lack of customizations made me go back to Apex then to Nova Prime. Think I'll stick with Nova for now. Google Launcher is just too basic for me at this point. Good start though.

I got it from here: http://d-h.st/iNW
There's one thing that bugs the crap out of me with the google kitkat launcher. When you hold down on the home screen and it brings up the 3 icons for wallpapers, widgets, and settings. "Settings," when you press it, it takes you to GOOGLE settings. The settings app that most people are unaware even exists. I keep forgetting and clicking on it hoping for the normal settings. Annoys me to no end. I always immediately revert to nova at that time.
There is a xposed module to configure the GEL called "xposed gel settings"
