I've searched the other forums and read through them; however, I want a more updated take, especially people using the HTC Evo, which do you prefer and why?
Are the speeds that much better? Do you miss the sense widgets? Did you eventually adjust or did you have that feeling in the back of your rom that it wasn't the same?
Thanks in advance!
I prefer Launcher Pro, don't miss the sense widgets, just the flip clock.
I like some of the built in aspects of sense, the better integration with Facebook pics, and so forth (missing that since I have rooted and installed Deck's ROM..Facebook App just doesn't seem as nice in syncing them).
However for interface, Launcher Pro has been my toy of choice for at least 9 months.
I used launcher pro exclusively on all Rom.
Until I loaded a sense 3.0 rom. That interface is just so nice.
Haven't gone back to LP

Same with me. I kept waiting for that next great promised LP to come out, but he's not getting it done. Sense 3.0 is here and pretty good. LP next gen is vaporware.
I run lp with aosp and sense, which I rarely use, I keep sense launcher

Cm7+ adwEX = epic... Love it
You have so much more freedom, and though I do miss aspects of sense, I have been able to replace them in some form or another over time... If I were not rooted and rommed I would personally stick with sense, they really did a great job!!!!!

I use LauncherPro with the FancyWidget that looks like the Sense clock.
Best of both worlds for me, since I love the flip clock.

+1 on sticking with sense 3.0 after I found virus b1.4 I'd try a new version of LP though

Smoother? Not the case with the ROM i use. The carousel for home pages and the albums is perfect. I'm still not over spinning it just for the heck of it
LauncherPro Plus all the way. Scrolling dock, looping homescreens, nice transitions. I don't miss Sense at all. I use Pure Calendar and Pure Agenda, both fullscreen, and a few shortcuts. Plus I use an AOSP ROM, so Sense is a distant memory for me.
I use Launcher Pro on my GTablet and after reading this thread, I may try it on my EVO too.
running asop right now so using launcher pro otherwise i really like new sense 3.0

Yeah I think people are comparing LP plus to sense 2 or 2.1 without having actually installed a 3.0 rom.
Look at what SilverZero said...how can Sense 3.0 be a distant memory? Good working roms have only been out for a little over a month.
If you like it and it ain't broke don't fix it. But this thread is sounding a little fanboy-ish when people haven't actually used both.
SPB shell 3D is best, but the cost was a downer.

I love this new Epic ....I'm switching from an HTC Hero.... Epic/TW really has no widgets that come close (imo) to the HTC widgets which I had access to.
Does any1 know where I might be able to download the HTC calendar...the scrolling feature that I had with my hero is what I really want back.
Also I know that Boss ROM iss close to being completet (thank you btw) will it have an option to use some of the sense widgets?

No sensse wwiddgets unfortunately, but launcher pro plus has an excat replica of the od the htc calendar widget.
Launcher Pro Plus has a lot of good widgets. Another option is the Pure Calendar and Pure Grid Calendar widgets. Although I prefer Launcher Pro Plus because it incorporates both a calendar and an agenda view into a single widget, and you don't have to buy them separately.
I would love to see at least the HTC Flip Clock (with working flip clock animation). That's the only reason why I'd want an Evo. I like Sense UI, but at the same time I like the Epic 4G's hardware and all it has to offer.

Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widgets offer the Sense clock and weather layout your desire.
fancy widgets is like a one for one of sense clock, but beautiful wdigets lets you have teh same "style" but theme it and a few more options
Launcher Pro Plus & Beautiful Widgets is the closest thing you are going to get to HTC Sense. However both do cost but are well worth it.

There is also a Twitter & Facebook app that looks exactly like Sense. However I do not use them. In order for you to get the Calender, Facebook, Twitter, People, Messaging & Bookmarks widgets (Sense style) You must get Launcher Pro Plus.
I came from a Hero and use both Launcher Pro Plus and Beautiful Widgets. Highly recommend them if you want that SenseUI experience.
I have Launcher Pro Plus / Beautiful Widgets and so on, but what I really want is the clock to actually... flip like on HTC Sense devices. As I said before, I love my Epic 4G, but that's the only reason I'd want something like an Evo 4G... >_> There's no way to get it like that on the Epic is there....

I feel like I am in an extreme minority of people that love touchwiz. I used to have a droid with stock ui, a droid 2 with blur, and have extensively used sense on family members phones and touchwiz by far blows them out of the water... There are a lot of intuitive features I can't believe I lived without like setting controls on the notification bar and a redial button after calling. I also find it much more aesthetically pleasing than other UIs, and really does SAMOLED justice with its vibrant colorization.
What do you folks think?

I actually like touch wiz too, I've used adw and launcher pro and I keep going back to touch wiz. I'm using the one from the vibrant from this forum somewhere because I couldn't stand the app drawer not being in alphabetical order lol. But since I have that version, I love it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I can't stand that either! Are there any disadvantages though? I thought vibrant users couldn't uninstall apps from the tray (another feature I love, no more waiting for application data to load from the settings screen, which is a major time sink).

I've had the Fascinate since it was released and have tried every home replacement, but they have never lasted more than a couple of hours at the most. TW has great widgets, is very responsive and like someone said, without those backgrounds on the icons, it looks nothing like an i*hone interface.
I'm really looking forward to both the froyo and gingerbread ports that birdman and kaos are working on, but I have to say that I will miss TW.

I don't use TouchWiz, but I would agree it's actually not bad at all as a launcher. Obviously, the Fascinate version has some problems (no Google Search widget etc.) but the Vibrant version is pretty darn good. I even like TouchWiz's taskbar more than the regular Android style. And some features, like the ability to re-sort homescreens, are fantastic (an almost identical method was implemented later on in ADW).
Some of Samsung's TouchWiz extras, on the other hand, are truly terrible. Like their "SNS Sync", which is slow and buggy and unnecessary when the official Facebook and Twitter apps come with their own, flawless in-app sync capabilities. Yet, inexplicably, TouchWiz disables their built-in sync abilities so you're stuck with Samsung's implementation. That right there is the single biggest reason I can't wait for an AOSP ROM.
P.S. maturate: That clock/weather widget looks like the one from Beautiful Widgets, an app available on the Market. It's just a regular app, doesn't matter if you're rooted.
EDIT: It could also be Fancy Widget, actually. The cloud graphic is identical to Beautiful Widgets', though, so I'm guessing it's that.
I used TouchWiz for a long time before I finally moved in to adw. I actually like the Vibrant version of TouchWiz more and ran it on my fascinate for a while. I posted the apk in the theme app forum. I liked their vertical scrolling app drawer more.

Is CM6/7 using the stock launcher? It appeared to me it was running ADW launcher.
Is there any way to get rid of that launcher and use the stock Android launcher (like deleting the ADW.apk in the zip file)?
The only way you'll see a gb sense rom is if one leaks from htc. There sense software is closed source so there is no way to incorporate it into our roms.

If you delete ADWLauncher.apk you will have no launcher. I suggest you don't do that. And if you're talking about the launcher from the Sense ROMs, see the post above mine.
Zervic, stfu. The default gb launcher is included in cm7 for posterity. Merely go to adw in settings, clear defaults, hit home and check Launcher or LP or whatever you prefer as the new default before selecting it.
PS,
I would recommend looking at launcher pro paid version if you want a home / launcher experience that is on par if not superior to sense thanks to the slick well designed and consistent Widgets in the paid edition. Adw ex is worth the upgrade as well if you like adw and don't need or want integrated widgets and feels twice as smooth as the original even with full effects enabled.

I'm struggling to see that as a compliment. I switched from LauncherPro to Go Launcher recently and haven't regretted the decision. I miss LauncherPro's built-in scrollable widgets, but have replaced those with Android Pro Widgets instead.
I'd been getting issues for some time with LauncherPro freezing for ages on startup, Go Launcher has no such problems and with the most recent update has the 3D app drawer too; bonus.
I use Go Launhcer!! A very good app, with lots of customizations ans a very active dev...Not very smooth as TW launcher though...
Go Launcher is ace, it has alot of themes out for it and i belive the devs also have a program to assist people in building there own.
For me its Go Launcher + Matted Blue theme = win.
I use SPB Shell 3D, works like a charm with the S2 and gives me all that I want!!
Having tried a few - openhome,go launcher and the original launcher, I came to the conclusion that ADW ex is the best of the bunch, runs smoothly, very customizable, including home icon size, home grid customization, and the screen transitions, appdock and drawer options are out of this world.
Most of the ones available on the Market are very good, and there's very little between them. TBH, the best thing you can do is just try them all and see which you prefer. Personally, I'm all over the GO apps at the minute - Launcher, SMS Pro, Contacts, Dialer - they're all great!
Seriously - ignore everyone and just try them all yourself for a day or two.
