I think the Atrix has a year warranty... You can try going to ATT and getting it replaced under warranty...
I'm under bell and I'm unlocked to :/ hopefully they take it.back

owww it's sad (
Yeah, that sucks...
A bit of good news, though: Compared to other phones, the Atrix is pretty easy to fix yourself and replace parts. If you are confident enough with your hands, you can try buying just a digitizer and replace it yourself. Looks like there's no soldering needed for that, too.
For reference: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola-Atrix-4G-Teardown/4964/1
Good luck!
Ah Ha! I can use this thread to my advantage haha.
first and foremost, I'm sorry for your digitizer woes. The same thing happened to me a month ago. =(
Secondly, it is very easy to replace it. iFixit has a guide, and normally I'm terrible at putting things back together but it was a snap.
the ONLY thing I've noticed (and it's a big problem) is that after I did this. the battery life has taken a ****. not that the battery itself is bad but rather the phone believes that 3200mV is about 0% and not the 76% that it actually is (obviously implying that 0mV is 0%)
does ANYONE know what might have been improperly installed? I have no qualms about taking everything apart and putting it back together.
that being said, a new digitizer is about 30$ on amazon or ebay, shouldn't be too hard to replace
Is 3200mv not%0? Cause that's what Its around when it does D: nd ahh. Dunno. I might be on the warranty still and my wii nd Bluetooth don't work. This phone as definitely taken its share of falls lol. But is my phone defective cause it does at around 32;0 mv? Lol

0mV is *not* 0%. 0% is around 3200mV, if it goes lower than that, the battery can get damaged.
Ohhh. My phones at 3600 and at %6 is that normal?

I just noticed a moment ago that when I tap my phone hard enough it turns off. For example sliding the kb open or setting it down on a table hard enough. I have to be real gentle with it now. And I have never been very rough with it its in great condition. I dropped it once on carpet a few months ago. But that's it. I have 2 batteries and I switch them out every other day. Could that have something to do with it? I really do not want to goto the sprint store and have the look at it because ill have to flash back to stock and deal with their lines and annoying staff. Anyone know what I can do to fix this issue?

Is it possible that you thumped it hard enough to knock it unconscious? Just kidding, sounds like you have a short somewhere.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
screw that. flash it back to stock and take it in. i wouldnt be able to deal with that.
^^ I agree
However, take a look at your battery contacts. One of my 3 is noticeably bent "differently" but not necessarily broken than the other 2 (although it's NEVER lost contact even in a fall). Maybe it's not maintaining the tension it needs to keep the connection.

doesnt paper heat up the battery more? and i think the OP should place a claim on the phone (you should too). you people paid a lot for your phone and it should work (without putting cardboard)

your right I did pay alot for this phone and it should work properly without ghetto rigging it. It actually stopped for now idk what did it, I tried a number of things including pressing the battery in harder and that may of solved it, but I bet it does it again one day. plus I wouldnt mind having a brand new one if thats what they would do to fix it lol
That happened to me a couple times, but it was the extended batteries and thus generic cover that doesn't fit well to begin with.

Then don't cover the whole battery. Use a small strip runnin diagionaly and fasten it to back cover is it don't move around when u drop your phone again.
Try a little peice of paper in between the batt and the wall of batt hole.
Epoxy your battery in place.
Or u can stop abusing your phone.
Tell your phone your sorry..

Not anymore than sitting on my hip. Paper is an insulator so actually would help in Florida sun. But my issue is a $21 extended battery and extended back, not stock. So a small piece of cardboard helps to keep it really tight. Also probably because I have dropped my phone a few times.

LMAO!!!! Nice...think I will download a flowers jpg for my phone now.
My first epic did this. It's a manufacturing problem. I took it back and sprint replaced it. (I returned it the day after I bought it, though).
I have had this happen to me and all I did was flash a different rom. It seemed to be a had flash or the rom I was using. That is assuming you are rooted and running a custom rom. Give it a try. Flash something else and see if the problem goes away. Mine did.
I was on my way into the sprint store as I was restoring a different rom and after restoring i could not reproduce the power down when bumping or sliding keyboard. That's how I figured out it had to be the rom. I have not had it happen since, that was 5 months ago.
desire s turns off
Ive had my desire s for less than 2 months and ive had to leave it back for this reason. The slightest of taps to the bottom right corner and off it goes.
Estimated return time from the car phone warehouse is 1 month. whahahahah....
Mine does the same thing, bougt mine off ebay, esy fix I just took a very small piece of electrical tape, made it so its sticky on both sides and stuc it behind the battery

Hi Guys
I've got a crack in the back of my battery. It's about 1 cm in the corner of the plastic. Is this safe to continue to use?
If not, where can I source a decent replacement.
Thanks for the replies.
LOL. What happened to my phone is happened to someone else too here.
Yeah. I've cracks in the battery, it's 2 cracks near the gold metal.been using it for 2 weeks since it happened, got no problems. Battery use is still the same too. I guess I got the cracks because of removing battery over and over again when the phone's hang.

So the thread title says it all. My phone dropped in to the toilet a week ago, I let it dry itself and now it works perfectly, the only problem is that I get 40mah battery drainage while sleeping. I also bought another battery, but it didn't help at all. So if anyone comes to any solution I would be VERY grateful, if you know what i mean
Seems to me like you have some kind of shortage. I am sorry to say that your device will most probably die from the damage caused by water...
If you have any insurance, now will be a good time to use it ;-)

Awww, man... I don't have any warranty, but even if i had, they wouldn't repair it because my water indicators are red. Well, if I will not find any solution, I will probably sell it cheap, and buy myself a Sensation XE.
That's a good idea.

It finally happened I have a big dead area on my Atrix. I can no longer type the letters T, G or V. It's weird, in Multi Touch Tester when I put my finger there, it shows points on both sides of the column. It has rendered my Atrix nearly useless. I tried formatting everything and reloading a ROM in CWM and it is still busted. I guess this is the end. Sadly, I can't get a new phone for a few more days.
I'm really disappointed by this. I don't even know what new phone I would get....
Is it even worth replacing the digitizer? It was woring fine this morning, this happened after dinner. A sad, sad day indeed

I think he's talking about the PDS partition fix, might make it easier to find now.

Unfortunately I can't even use the phone in this state. Too much of the screen is hosed. I guess it's back to the 3GS (DOH!!!) and getting a new phone next week.
Not. Happy.

Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
i have the same problem (again)
fist time i hat a part of the upper screen not working now its also the letters t,g,v that seem to be dead areas.
my guesses are that i had my device running under too much heat, as i stresstested it for some periode of time with 80+°C and the letters are near the area of the cpu which was causeing much heat. well now it's just some 30-40 bucks for a new digitizer and 15mins of work for replacement.
little tip: install a cm7-rom and enable 180° rotation so you can use ur phone even in portrait mode. if you have probs with lower screen area just rotate your device
If you get a new digitizer with the frame its pretty easy to fix yourself, not particularly expensive and you should be able to return it easily if it's faulty. Check ebay.

This!
I tried with an "OEM" digitizer off eBay and it was faulty. Got an original used one off eBay with bezel attached in good Nick and it was much easier to fit and works like a charm.
One word of warning, remove the LCD before pushing the digitizer cable through the phone.
Same happened with me and that was after the repair shop tried three replacements lol.
I haven't heard of any problems with the ones with the bezels though!

Does anyone know what causes this problem. Is it heating issues from overclocking?
Starting to get worried after reading about so many fellow atrix users with the dodgy digitizer issue.
I've had mine for one year with another year left until an upgrade so hoping mine doesn't go the same way.

I wish I knew this as well. It must be some sort of separation between the digitizer and the screen because wedging something between the battery and fingerprint reader can improve the touch sensor.

I think its overheating in general. I've never over locked this phone and even simple browsing through xda heats the CPU up to 55-60 degrees.

So, has anyone else had any problems with the battery swelling on the N4? I first noticed that parts of the screen was having what appeared to be a massive light bleed, then after a few hours the back came off. I was not charging the phone so I have a hard time believing there is something wrong with my charger. I have attached a picture showing what it looks like now..
Never seen that before I'd get the phone replaced.

I had the phone in my pocket and only used it for Spotify when I was outside walking. I never checked the temperature when I saw the phone like that for the first time, so actually I don´t know how hot it got. I haven´t found a way to see the max temperature but if someone give me the instructions I gladly will.
I would suggest turning it off immediately and RMA'ing. That is dangerous. I'm really surprised at how bad that has swollen without exploding
