I been playing nova 2 and shadow gun on my play 4 and how in the heck do the touchpads controls work. It just seems like it doest register well is there a proper way to using them.
I end up using the d-pad for movement and use the right touchpad for camera movement but even with that touchpad only still have a hard time using it. anyone know what up? thannks

Hey, Shadowgun and Nova two do not require any special settings touse the touchpads. Either try re-installing the games or you may have a issue with your Play.

Sorry I'm not to clear, the touchpads work but what the key in using them?
There is no key they're just lame. It does take getting used to.

I found them so bad and usable that I haven't touched them in weeks
I think it depends on the game.
Onlive and Minecraft uses them well, but most others don't. I think the trick is to treat them like miniature LCDs. The apps that use them poorly tend to treat them as touch sensitive buttons (u,d,l,r).
I just pretend like it's a thumbstick and slide my finger around from the middle. Seems to work ok. Not a fan of the touchpads. They work, but why they did not make a mini-stick like the PSPGo is beyond me.

Hey guys,
So I'm having some weird issues with the touchpad controls of my Xperia Play.
The right touchpad seems to be very buggy on Gun Bros, Galaxy on fire 2 and on Star Battalion. When ever i try using it it acts as if i steering way to the right No matter where i put my thumb.
In Gun Bros it just happens while navigating the menu. Once I start playing it seems to be working ok all of a sudden
In Star Battalion it also doesnt work correctly while playing. i dunno what the right stick should be used for in that game, but when i try using it the ship just steers God knows where.
Same goes for Galaxy On Fire 2. Right touchpad seems totally wacky.
Everything else sems to work ok.
Can this maybe be fixed with a Firmware update? I dont know if these Problems were there before I rooted the phone.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help
You can use the touchpad tester app and see if it's working correctly.
I used this when I had my doubts about whether mine worked -at all- and it confirmed that it works perfectly.
Credit due to someone here on the forums, I believe. I can edit and add the proper credits if anyone knows who it belongs to.
I had that problem with star batalion used the touch pad tester and it was working fine must b bug in game
Wow thans for that app. The guy that made it should put it on the market. Touchpad seems to be working fine... Guess the games are programmed poorly
Ok thanks so much again!

Hmm, is the Touchpad Tester not supposed to draw perfect circles?
I am drawing circles on my left and right touchpads, and the screen appears to draw ovals (vertically longer).
Its not that its drawing ovals, its that your fingers aren't touching the right spots to do circles. The rightmost side of the left thumb pad and the leftmost side of the right thunbpad exceed the raised area that visually separates the two. Stick your thumb in between the two pads to see.
The thumbpads aren't plural, its actually one pad with 2 point multitouch that makes you think its not one pad (I would assume since you can seamlessly swipe from one side to the other).
The pads work fine, it is the games that do not.
Somewhere in their code it has gone wrong with the position you are pushing on the pad as to what actually happens with your character or ship on screen.
2.3.3 broke Spiderman for me with the touchpads even though the tester shows they work correctly.
I have to push the middle of the touchpad to get Spiderman to move right.

Hmm I haven’t tried Spiderman since the update but I have this issue on Battlefield 2.
Edit: I'm thinking that the 2.3.3 update may have broke the games.
Anyone tried this game yet? It's from EA and there were no big announcements for it.
It is a first person shooter and they "fixed" the right touch pad.... I personally think they should give option of swipe turning and hold to turn.. I'm hating the hold to turn option.

I Haven't tried this game but I prefer the hold to turn control myself.

Looks pretty cool, but from what I heard, the gameplay sucks.
poor controls, poor graphics

What are you talking about? The graphics are killer for a phone. And the controls are great. The game gives you option to choose between "real analog stick" and "swipe to move". What more do you want? Give it time and i promise you you'll get the hang of it
The right stick is INSANELY hard to use, it feels basically like they designated the right stick to be a small touchscreen....so youre swiping just like you would on the screen as opposed to the emulation/feel of a real analog stick....SO annoying/hard to get used to
wow, can't believe I'm one of the few that can work it just fine. I think this game controls great using default style.
Are you using the right stick to aim? you don't find it incredibly jumpy?

I think the controls are good to I've completed the game 2 times now
I need to play with it more but I could not get my guy to look right.

hey guys i wanna know if the legend's dual touch is good enough to play games that require you to press 2 buttons @ the same time ! thanks
2 is fine, if the app only requires two touches. Otherwise, you're out of luck, because there points on the screen doesn't work. Hardware doesn't support it.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh, not necessarily. I use Gameboid a LOT, and I must depend on the Legend's hardware buttons (unfortunately) to play effectively.
Here's an example of where it fails: Let's say you were jumping diagonally, or required a control where you would need to have points on Up (Dpad) + Right (Dpad) + A. Putting one finger between Up + Right, and putting the other finger on A would screw the screen up and it would think you'd be pressing B and Down (Dpad). Not the greatest.
The hardware buttons I have set up for the Legend on Gameboid are: A = trackpad button, B = BACK button, Search for Right Trigger. On games such as Super Mario Advance 2 where I occasionally have to fly, I put my finger on the Dpad, right thumb on B (screen), and index finger on trackball.
It's pretty difficult to get used to, but play around with the controls, it'll get comfortable eventually.

Ive use dual screen touch on the legend using Snesoid, PES 2011, Fifi and a few others. It wasn't a great experience and I gave up. Snesoid runs ok but slows down badly once you touch the screen, touch it twice and, well its not worth it. The CPU just doesn't seem to cope with these games and touch at the same time. They all work fine on a HTC desire using touch I found.

Does the desire got a much better dual touch well I guess it uses a clearpad 2000 unlike the legend that uses clearpad 1000....

Not sure its the screen more that I'm doing stuff very cpu intensive like emulation or gaming and the additional overhead of inputs via touchscreen is too much. No not time critical apps like zooming maps the legend responds very well. Snesoid works better with sound off, free's up a few more cpu cycles it seems.
Try this app from the Market, it will give you an idea of how our multi-touch (or rather, lack of) works:

Then try it on other devices if you have the chance to!

Anyone on GB roms tried yet on vibrant? Reviews look pretty cool of you have fast wifi. This is the second app (Skype ffc video call being first) that makes me miss GB.
I second that. I use it on froyo and can do everything but play games. I wanna know if on GB if you can play the games?

There are about 30 games that have touch controls, the rest are controller or kb/m. I believe more games will get touch controls in time. The touch controls are specific to each game like specialized button layouts and some games like Split / Second have a slider instead of a button, to mimic pressure sensitivity. That means each game has to be set up and tested individually to find the best layout.

i guess if they make some generic xbox360 like controls for all games it would save them much hustle and make touch compatible games come out faster , also they should push all the on screen buttons to the edges of the screen cause some games are like having controls all over the screen , kinda annoying , but the idea itself of the whole onlive thingy is great cause it takes mobile gaming to a whole new level provided that a good internet connection is available....

Connect your Moga in Mode B. Once connected, start an app/game that you want to create a profile for. Once in the game, long press the Start button and overlay will appear on screen. Part of the overlay will be a toolbar with various icons on. Drag the function you want to assign to the screen and place it where you want (LS = left stick for example). Once you have placed something on screen, long pressing it will bring up a menu that allows you move the item or select other functions. For the analogue sticks you can use buttons Y and A to increase or decrease the size of the stick which will change the way it responds in game. Trial and error

Cool
I was hoping to use the mapper with Modern Combat 3 but for some reason the Kit Kat update seems to have killed that particular game - it crashes after checking the licence which is really annoying...
I'm having a weird issue where I have to move the analogue stick up and down for left and right when a game map is in use. Is there a setting somewhere which will correct this?
UPDATE:
Figured out it's just on Real Racing 3 (I haven't got many games installed yet) and I presume it's down to the gyroscope problem which TN7 owners seem to have.
Hopefully RR3 will get a fix for that. Quite annoying though, as using the analogue stick on mapping instead doesn't seem to fully turn the virtual steering wheel so I can't get round corners, ha!

In case anyone is still interested, RR3 implemented controller support into the game. My Moga Pro works well.
The only issue is after the last OTA update from nvidia, the game is pretty much unplayable. All audio is horrifically choppy and the game feels a bit laggy too.
To say I'm really cheesed off is an understatement. I do love that game
According to me, EA does not love a Taiwanese Tegra, Nvidia
